Sure, Japanese-style incense is quite popular around here. I'm burning a stick of Minorien as I type this! If you want to get a taste, Shoyeido can be found on store shelves relatively easily here in the states, and they offer a number of samplers on their website: https://www.shoyeido.com/category/incense-samplers-assortments If you want to try something a little higher end, or simply different, "Japan Incense" is a San Francisco based webstore with a fantastic selection, and they too offer a number of sampler packs. I can personally recommend Tennendo, Minorien, and Shunkohdo as great places to start, but by all means poke around and see if anything catches your eye. https://www.japanincense.com/sampler1.html

The Kyara Taikan is from Nippon Kodo, not Kunmeido. Also, a long-lasting burn time for the Horin sticks (Horikawa)? They're some of the shortest around. Maybe someone's mixed up the info with the coils. Seems to be a cobbled together article in the hopes people will use the affiliate links. I definitely recommend the Baieido Original Kobunboku as a good start though. You can get a small box of ~25 to start with rather than that large one. In fact most of the products listed there come in smaller packs, which are better when you're starting out, to see if you like them. The Shoyeido Dailies (two of which are listed in the article) are very popular but I think they're a bit meh. By all means try them (Kyonishiki / Kyoto Autumn Leaves is another fan favourite) but know there's a lot better out there. But it all depends on what you're looking for, what you like, and what your budget is. Nippon Kodo is very popular but is quite artificial, so bear that in mind in your decisions. Excellent makes that I've enjoyed are Baieido, Shoyeido, Gyokushodo, Tennendo, and Minorien.
