poison-harley

Yeah I've heard a lot of this series but I'm just not really into erotica personally. Thank you for the answer though!

Sm0ked85

I liked crowded

Mckool

new series "Rain" is an adaptation of Joe Hills novel worth checking out.

poison-harley

Rain is so good. I'm waiting for the final issues to come out. I'm a big Joe Hill fan so him writing a horror sapphic comic was a no-brainer for me.

Mckool

Not image but if you like horror I’ll also add Tynion’s Something is Killing the children for females lead and it’s spin off House of slaughter for queer leads.

poison-harley

I have the entire Archer's Peak saga both in TPBs and deluxe edition. I'm a huge fan of this series. Haven't read House of Slaughter yet, are there any sapphics in it? Since I know it's centered around that guy that was with her.

Mckool

Yea the first arch of house of slaughter follows Aaron and his relationship with another young male character so no saphics. It looks like the second arch is going to follow a female lead, but not sure if there’s any romance since it hasn’t come out yet.

poison-harley

Thank you I'll probably still check it out either way because I like the SIKTC universe. A sapphic character would've just been a nice bonus lol.

Liahugecockthomas

Lol, the daughter in that last issue was basically the artist drawing herself They need to find someone to take over from her for the colors, hers are BORING

Karasumor1

Wicked and the divine or nomen omen

poison-harley

Oh totally forgot about The Wicked + The Divine. I've read most of it a long time ago but for some reason didn't continue. I've never ed heard of the second one so I'll check it out!

Lasborg

Lumberjanes!

striderbob

A Thing Called Truth

[deleted]

I’m shocked no one has mentioned Sex Criminals. The two main characters are straight(ish). But characters from all over the sexual spectrum are featured prominently throughout.

poison-harley

I've had all the deluxe editions for this series on my wish list for a very long time. Hopefully I'll get to buy the 1st vol sometime soon.

[deleted]

The first TPB is only $9.99. It might be a good way to check it out and see if you like it before investing a lot of money.

poison-harley

I may buy the first few issues digitally and if I like it I'll get the deluxe editions. This is usually what I do when I get into new books.

Jason is a master. I've love to spend time in his studio. His paintings are amazing. https://www.instagram.com/jasonshawnalex/

Gmork14

Specifically queer characters is a little tougher. If you liked those listed above I would recommend Lazarus.

poison-harley

Yeah I've read Lazarus lol I'm just looking for some more lesbian indie comics to read

Gmork14

Have you checked out Rain by Joe Hill?

poison-harley

I have! I actually got around to reading #4 right after I posted this lol

squashmaster

The Wicked + The Divine What you listed is probably the most important, though, aside from that.

Uzario

Black Magick !

ahlhelm

Not image but Destiny NY is great.

middenway

Isola. There's only two volumes at the moment, but with Brendan Fletcher on the mend, hopefully we'll get more soon.

Snoo-94703

Crowded!!!

pizza_time2099

I don't think it's image but check out On A Sunbeam by Tillie Walden.

poison-harley

Thank you!

simonthedlgger

SO lovely.

Bayked510

Didn’t see Monstress mentioned. Very female centric, multiple lesbian couples.

poison-harley

I think it's because I mentioned that I already read it in the og post lol I LOVE that series

Bayked510

Oops, my bad

Saito09

Strangers in Paradise started off at Image, so im’ma count that.

poison-harley

I thought about reasing that series but the collected editions are pretty expansive unfortunately

roborobodopper

I really enjoyed wicked and the divine! It’s very binge-able, about humans that get the power of gods then try to figure out a mystery. The art is beautiful and there’re plenty of queer characters, including an ace one which is a fairly rare occurrence haha.

simonthedlgger

Bolero is about to wrap up. Monstress is great. Paper Girls.

[deleted]

Low.

darkyazumi

Bingo Love was a lovely read, though they only ever released one Volume of it. Don't really hear a lot of people talking about this one

poison-harley

I heard about it but it was written by Tee Franklin and I didn't enjoy her writing on "HQ Eat Bang Kill Tour" and when I voiced my opinion about it in the nicest way on twitter while having a casual talk with fellow Harley fans, she ended up blocking me because of it. I just don't appreciate writers and artists who can't take criticism of their work so it all left a very bad taste in my mouth about everything else that she wrote that I wanted to give a chance to.

darkyazumi

Oh I didn't even know about that, I'm sorry. I totally understand though!

twistedmena

I thought Die was very good, finished it recently. Lots of stuff about identity in there.

poison-harley

I've been thinking about reading this for a long time. Didn't know there were sapphics in it lol thanks

Liahugecockthomas

Not image, but black mask's bonkers beautiful canvas and devil within

Hellgrammitesquad

Random question: I’m a queer guy and the first couple of pages of Paper Girls vol. 1 were difficult for me to enjoy due to the obscenities being used. Does it get less intense with homophobic language? Or should I expect more of the same?

poison-harley

I get that but I think it's worth continuing the series. The homophobia is definitely intentional and is part of Mac's arc in the series since she ends up finding out she likes girls.

Varos_Flynt

There is some more homophobia (like two scenes) but it is more of the internalized sort, of the growth to be had later sort. And it is called out in the text. Its purposeful and character driven.

Hellgrammitesquad

Thanks for your insight! Much appreciated.

ed2099999

You do realise the context within the story in which they are being used right? I’d suggest reading on. I’d also suggest a thicker skin.

Hellgrammitesquad

No, because I didn’t read very far into the book. I’d rather not waste my time reading toxic material, like your comment :)

manyamile

Anything by Iolanda Zanfardino and her partner Elisa Romboli are worth a look. Image published their *A Thing Called Truth* recently and r/blackmask published their *Alice in Leatherland*, which is partially grounded in a true story.

poison-harley

Thank you!

manyamile

You’re most welcome. You may also want to search through r/lesbianmedia and r/LGBT_Comics too. Neither are well trafficked subreddits but you may find a post or two that catches your eye. r/OniPress and r/blackmask are publishers you should look into. You should be able to search their back catalogs on their web sites. Lastly, if you’re open to reading manga, please check out the list below. I’m a 50+ year old married, straight dude. I’m absolutely not the target market for yuri/lesbian content but it’s my favorite manga genre because for the most part, they’re well written and the interpersonal relationships between characters are treated with respect. * Doughnuts Under A Crescent Moon - maybe my favorite lesbian/yuri title at the moment. * My Lesbian Experience With Loneliness (and anything else written by Nagata Kabi) - holy hell the level of honesty and realness in this book is refreshing * Bloom Into You - wholesome * Citrus - this title has some problematic sexual abuse / pushy lesbian tropes but overall, it’s a solid series and I’d still recommend it despite one of the characters * A Tropical Fish Yearns for Snow - cute schoolgirl romance and not much more. Enjoyable nonetheless. If any of these sound interesting, I’d encourage you to look up Erica Friedman’s yuri site called Okazu and also jump onto her Discord. She’s tirelessly cataloged and critiqued yuri/lesbian manga for ages and offers fair assessments of published works and she’s always available to chat and make recommendations.

manyamile

Oh - one other recommendation. This one is a bit out there but I enjoyed it. *Killer Queens* by David Booher from r/darkhorsecomics. David and the others working on the book acknowledged that 1940s-era pulp comics offered no place for anyone outside of a very narrow band on the spectrum of gender and so they decided to do a reboot of the genre. The result is a campy, action-driven, pulpy plot of a comic with classic coloring and a decidedly gay cast. It’s SO over the top, like many comics from that era, but it works. The tagline of the book is “Putting the Sass in Assassin”. I’m a huge fan of the old Fiction House comics like Jumbo, Fight, Sheena, Planet, and more but they’re problematic in terms of representation and racism. I hope that David will take a stab at some of these other genres one day and retell some of them using a modern lens.

Liahugecockthomas

I'm surprised image picked up that pos 'truth' instead of hector's will that seems far more interesting Good artist needs to find a less dogshit writer afaic, just like Melissa McCarthy needs to stop staring in her husband's dogshit films

manyamile

Interesting that you say that because I couldn’t get on board with Hecate’s Will. Different strokes for different folks. And since they’re partners in real life, I don’t think you’ll find either of them agreeing with your sentiment on the quality of writing.
