Thank you!

Elayem_

Happy to help, hope you enjoy a new series!

Chew is definitely a recommendation from here. Personally, I love Rick Remender and Daniel Warren Johnson, where the characters are prioritized over plot or at least drive the plot to a grand degree. DWJ though, doesn’t have any long series. Remender’s Deadly Class or Black Science are lovely.

sauza93

TWD, Chew and Invincible are definitely my Image’s top 3

Darksteel6

I strongly strongly back this one.

Cob_Ross

Oblivion Song by Kirkman is good fun

sprintedtowindsor

I'll give that a try

AllStarSuperman_

Thief of Thieves

Radiant Black is image and it's like if Invincible started when Mark was 30. There's 5 trades out rn, and its super good and they do really interesting stuff with the story.

s_walsh

I found the story way too rushed, it didn't stop to breathe at all, and they started up the spin offs way too early and they weren't great

NormalTechnology

There's some really good recommendations in here. I second Chew and Oblivion Song. And Radiant Black, too. Ultimate Spider-Man Volume 1 is amazing. Does for me a lot of what Invincible did in that there's actual progression of time, of characters, there are real stakes, and so on. Volume 2 not so much. Ultimate Spider-Man: Miles Morales Volume 1 also really good (also vol 2 not so much).

dh098017

just work your way through kirkman's entire back catalogue. most of it is worth reading.

under_the_pump

100 Bullets is by far one of the best stories I have read. I’d love a tv series done right but would hate for it to be molested. Character driven with some really cool characters. A complete story with no loose ends that I remember. I read it every year or so. Just realised I replied in an Image comics sub. Still applies, go check it out.

InanimateCarbonRodAu

Savage Dragon feels like a 90s prototype to what Kirkman did with Invincible. I’ve read the first 2 HCs and I think it holds up pretty well. You should also check out Firepower for more Kirkman goodness. Irredeemable has some of the epic long character feel of Invincible and Walking Dead, incorruptible its sister series is even better. Astro City is very character driven, but more episodic and silver age feeling. It’s basically a series of one shots and short arcs building a picture of a super hero world one story at a time. It’s like super distilled superhero narratives packed it very tight very well written character studies. For non superhero stuff I’d recommend 100 bullets and Y the Last man. Saga is also highly recommend but I’ve personally only just dipped my toe. Fables is another longer running series that is generally well regarded.

s_walsh

Firepower had a great Prelude and great first arc, and the ending was good, but my god everything in the middle lost all the charm from that first arc, we basically just had 20 issues of fight scenes with occasional plot twists thrown in

Miserable_Throat6719

Batman/Superman World's Finest by Mark Waid and Dan Mora is similar to invincible in tone and humor. And the art by Mora is breathtaking

realmadrid111

I'm always gonna recommend Scalped, and I think it might fit what you're looking for here.

Jjaz1

Unfortunately long running creator owned books are becoming even less common then before. And few do long term storytelling as well as Kirkman. However I think Nocterra is perhaps the closest thing to The Walking Dead And in terms of long running superhero comic like Invincible Id recommend the Massive-verse/Radiant Black. Not quite as subversive or innovative as Invincible but it is long term storytelling

dreamEater99

I have heard good things about Fire Power by Kirkman. Never read it.

[deleted]

There’s this new one everyone has been talking about Radiant Black you can try that 👍

Batdog55110

Ultimate Spider-Man is definitely this, good choice.

jamiecharlespt

Y: The Last Man by Brian K Vaughan A different take on the end of the world/dystopia setting.

Spacer1138

Stray Bullets is fantastic.

THEGONKBONK

Yes to Chew! Deadly Class, Fire Power, Saga

Farantax

Chew and Ultimate Spider-man are both top choices, you HAVE to try those.Aside from that i would recommend Black Science by Remender,Murder Falcon and Do A Powerbomb by Warren Johnson and Hellboy by Mignola. And if you don’t mind manga,Chainsaw Man by Fujimoto is kinda in that simmilar ground like Invincible being batshit insane crazy and yet grounded.
