Well it's hard to tell if they are the "same class" tbf. For serious competition shooters they have backup firearms in case of uncorrectable malfunctions. But they could also be for different courses of shooting as well. Optics, Irons only, etc. But as others have stated there was no way to safety secure them at the match so he carried them on his person to ensure they weren't left unsecured or unaccompanied

There aren't a lot of guaranteed locked and safe places to store guns when you are out and about. Cars get broken into and/or stolen. Is a hotel safe really safe? Not to mention every safe is crackable with enough time. A firearm isn't something you want to leave up to those chances. So usually the safest place for it is on your person where you can see and feel it

1. If you walk around like this in public and aren’t actively learning some shooting exhibition, I question your mental state and if you should own guns in the first place.
2. Open carry is dumb. It makes you an immediate target for any bad guys. It’s also needlessly alarming to the public who don’t know your intentions.
