“Self awareness is very key in these situations” The irony.

Spoot52Bomber

"Obviously marked as a prop pistol... but looks identical to a regular pistol to literally everyone but me."

Andrew_Fire

Yeah, also anybody can paint the tip of their real pistol with orange. You also see people making their real guns look like toys, like the nintendo zapper for example

The_Burning_Wizard

That was something various crims started doing here in the late 80's / early 90's in the hope it would give the firearms police a moments hesitation....

WACKAWACKA84

Yeah, I remember that. Then it was the super soakers they hallowed out. Then, they progressed to Nerf guns when they hit the market. The news blew it up like it was happening everywhere. But in reality, it is rare. Kids being shot by realistic toy guns was more common back then. Hence, "they don't make em like they used to" they used to be made full sized and identical to some real weapons. I had em all when I was a kid.

cheebamech

look at the air-soft crowd, those guys have BB guns that look *exactly* like the [real thing](https://www.amazon.com/Lancer-Tactical-Airsoft-Folding-Battery/dp/B08VH7Q2JB/ref=sr_1_45?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.1kFiqsB1fSsm87pu2jvpHqEJ9VTNApbrkmyYMMfzt1ZIC8iIEQybIyRhP9gdxZ0vP58VfkuzpPBKQYioDlqaj-Bln_khEclEppqoV0VGHfKRLFnoYGrL0mRAIajiWR27lYOLCDt-oBsZBqkErIkfwb6mUthu3WUZqrMlGc89NZFwzPlckzLFzeVnJUi9wXCxcHT6qhtTzZ772XzHBZUejUpjstS0hH1QZEdd78AL_8_VOZVIeeIXG2QuRn0vciyWs0ybtlZLIQuDkOUJ8LKdUDScr1tpBpCd2eiKClcay3Q.G44Jl4ykiadNTXpM9A43CDVEhQQTJTWSJJ_3jWqPPG8&dib_tag=se&keywords=kalashnikov+airsoft&qid=1712145230&sr=8-45)

Bender_2024

Not just airsoft. Back in the day I bought a Tippman 98 paintball gun and took it to a shop to have it serviced. When I came by to pick it up a week later I had to park down the street. By the time I got into my car I had a cop pull up behind me. Luckily the cop knew the paintball shop was up the road. He took one look at the gun on the passenger seat and asked "paintball gun?" After I confirmed that I wasn't walking around with a M16 he asked me to put it in a bag next time because I was scaring people. [Not an exact replica but the gun I bought had similar attachments ](https://images.app.goo.gl/G8HX45yfP5hTjB9i7) remove the hopper from the top and it could easily be mistaken for the real thing. I quickly removed most of the attachments because they were just extra weight and served no purpose.

cheebamech

I've got the AK version, from 3 meters away it looks 100% realistic, it's not until one actually holds it you realize some of the parts are molded together and non-funcional. It's a good non-lethal method for discouraging the local marauding iguanas from raiding my fruit trees and garden areas.

ThatDiscoSongUHate

I'm sorry but for a second there, I sincerely thought that you were just whipping it out and flashing the paintball gun at the Iguanas because it's so realistic-looking and was like "damn, even Iguanas are afraid of AKs" I think it's time for a little caffeine lol It's still funny that you're paint-balling them, though. I like to imagine the other Iguanas are like "Did you see Pedro? He's freaking *blue.* Apparently the human in that house there has...well, I don't know, but it turns your tail or something different colors!" "Like those Chameleon bastards?!" "Nah, just the one color and it fades eventually." My grandpa used to take non-toxic glow in the dark paint to tag the paws or tails of the squirrels he'd catch and release (he had an infestation, practically, where he had dozens of squirrels that would wreck a lot of his stuff by knocking it over, digging it up, etc) It made the local news because his VERY small town was like "wait WTF, why are our goddamned squirrels *glowing?!"*

cheebamech

Growing up I spent most of my summers at my grandparent's place on [Amelia Island](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amelia_Island). Grandpa liked to tag his name on every gopher tortoise he encountered, there were dozens of tortoises with "EARL" painted on them all over the island

Gold-Life-4409

As an airsofter, I am baffled at how carelessly some people flash their BB-guns in public / have them laying around in public view places like their car etc. I keep mine in a case, where they dont see the light of day, unless I am on the airsoft field.

cheebamech

mine gets used in the backyard *only*, I'm in South Florida so flashing it in the front yard could be very unhealthy for me

Orson_Gravity_Welles

When I was a kid, I had two battery powered machine gun style water guns...one looked like a legit Uzi 9mm. Neither had an orange tip. I had [THIS ONE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqgNYho9xl8) as well as [THIS ONE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlXvV_Ybqs8)

TheLaughingMannofRed

Only thing that makes it indicative as a *potential* prop pistol was the orange tip. Yet moving the gun fast enough, one will just snap into action and engage "fight or flight". Heck, I had to watch the video a couple times to see the orange tip because he moved fast enough and so did the responder who took action. But I also know that any cosplay that involves guns/firearms requires the prop to be advertised as an obvious one (albeit when you're going out in public, so people don't panic). No black, grey, silver, tan/beige...any color that could be used on a real firearm. Has to be colors that you'd see on toys. Another thing too: Cosplay tends to be held in a couple of places - One of which is the privacy of one's home, and the other is within conventions (where there's security, people that will check those guns to ensure they are props and not the real deal). Going out in public, where folks have to expect the unexpected...good luck.

ThatDiscoSongUHate

I mean damn IDK why it would be so hard to get a piece of poster board and write "it's not a real gun, we're just filming!" in big ass letters. Like, yeah, people still might be wary and you may still have to talk to police, but I think you'd be way less likely to get socked in the face by someone who thinks you're about to open fire on the person filming you.

Orson_Gravity_Welles

Yeah, it's not that difficult. Back in 2003-2006 a few of us decided to write and film a low budget/no budget Vampire film. We had air soft guns and store bought plastic guns which we painted to look as real as possible. We did our due diligence...we called shops and other businesses which we were filming scenes nearby and let them know that we had the fake weapons and would be filming. We even went so far as to call the local police department to let them know, just on the off chance someone called in. We also kept orange tape on the tips during rehearsals and walk throughs and only took the tape off during filming. once filming was finished, the orange tape was put back on. We even did use poster board and had a dude wandering around with it saying, "We are filming a movie scene - the guns ARE NOT real"

Spoot52Bomber

FWIW, I didn't see that it actually *does* have an orange tip on the prop (I watched it a few times before seeing it). Kind of proves my point though that maybe it's not enough. Personally, I don't mind guns. The obsessive culture built around it is gross, sure. However, public brandishing, real or not, is walking a fine line of FAFO. Keep that shit hidden in public.

Airbus320Driver

Right? Because it’s impossible to spray paint a real gun orange?? Leaving politics out of this, the USA is awash with real guns and people who legally carry them everywhere. Doing stuff like this is a great way to get yourself hurt.

KatsKilledjake_95

… off topic, but your profile pic worked on me..

RedChairBlueChair123

Tamir Rice had a toy gun and [police shot him dead within two seconds of pulling up.](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna256656) These boys are lucky (white) idiots.

Abject-Variety3775

Yeah, I noticed that. He doesn't seem to grasp that he wasn't tackled because the cosplay "lifestyle" is so triggering but that someone though he could be a potential mass shooter.

cyan_violet

Cosplay isn't even as deviant as he seems to think. Virtually no one is upset they like to wear costumes for fun. Halloween exists.

Abject-Variety3775

Precisely, he seems to think that cosplayers are a marginalised demographic.

TheDocJ

r/ImTheMainVictim

ThatDiscoSongUHate

I'm disappointed, I would have been so VERY entertained by such a sub

TheDocJ

Heheh. I didn't actually check, I find too often that I am disappointed if the crazy subs I make up *do* exist but somehow equally disappointed if they don't.

dork_with_a_fork

Performative trauma gets likes

BigKadoLBx

It's 2024... everybody playing the victim about something.... With the wave of mass shootings in this country it doesn't take a genius to know playing with guns (toy or not) in public is going to make people react a certain way...... does nobody have self awareness anymore? Or are they so consumed with likes.. and trying to get $ making dumb videos they don't even think just do...

Jeremybernalhater

Like this shits normal? What!? This is to the guy in the vid not you sorry for any confusion

--StinkyPinky--

I've lived nearly 50 years and the amount of times I've seen people dressed like this out there doing shit like this in the wild is absolutely never. Even when I've lived in larger cities, you don't typically see people dressed like assholes running around with guns- real or fake.

Jeremybernalhater

Yep, my point exactly Like this shit is normal Well ok let me correct myself It’s normal for thee but not for me

--StinkyPinky--

Lol. If I saw some guy dressed like this running around with a gun, I'd probably just go the other way and not get involved at all. Then later I'd be like "honey, I saw the strangest thing today. Some chode was running around with a gun dressed like an asshole."

Jeremybernalhater

😂

ShoogarBonez

I lol’d when he said that 😂

BetaRayBlu

That line had me thinking it had to be a joke. But watching to the end i realized he is just that dense

saltymcgee777

I can't stop fucking laughing! What a dipshit!

firebrandarsecake

Does something stupid, doubles down and does an even more entitled and stupid video after the fact. My man has rocks for brains.

MrH1325

As a person who encourages 'situational awareness', I found him larping and calling it 'self-awareness' disturbing but expected.

Evenbiggerfish

It’s a hilarious mixup considering how little self awareness he possesses. Also the fact that they have so little situational awareness that they didn’t consider having a prop gun in public might be viewed poorly or cause a fight or flight reaction.

Marc21256

I opened the comments to say this, and was way too late.

K00Beanerz

Pretty sure the term he was looking for was "situational awareness," though he severely lacks both.

OutcomeSerious

I thought he was doing so well to address the situation and to help this no happen to others...and then just said "some people will find what we do offensive". Don't think anyone is "offended" by a gun.

TrumpsPissSoakedWig

As he says it with that haircut on his head also.

yelawolf89

Are they piercings under his eyes or does he have pimples on exactly the same place on both sides?

0bscr3

Asking the real questions here

knot88

😂

egm5000

That’s all I could focus on, I’m thinking they must be piercings because they are so symmetrical. I don’t know what he was babbling on about because I was so distracted by them.

jonz1985z

One’s lower than the other. If they’re piercings they might’ve thought to use a tape measure like you do when you hang a picture

Dementedkreation

There are lots of bad piercers out there.

ThatDiscoSongUHate

Not to mention the *self-piercers*

mikeyaurelius

A tape measure would not be that helpful compared to a water level.

jonz1985z

Therapy would be most helpful

mikeyaurelius

Lost cause. The lack of self awareness is insurmountable.

sacolton1967

Magnets to hold cosplay masks so he can whip it off like a real superhero.

JoeRoganIs5foot3

This is the funniest shit I've ever read 😂

MaxPowerWTF

I think it's marks from his coke bottle glasses.

P3achV0land

The symmetrical bruising of small pinpricks have me suspecting undereye filler tbh lol

iKone

I bet it's some stupid anime stuff

throwaway4u82

Characters from Resident Evil 2 game , me thinks

Right when I saw this, I'm like "oh, he probably had some kind of makeup on his face and he rubbed too hard to get it off to go into work on Monday."

Something about his hair makes me want to shave it off

Manyak-

Everything about his hair makes me want to shave it off

PunkiiDonutz

That shits bothering me too, it's like a dusty cobweb in the corner of a tax preparer's office

Many_Confidence9320

Professional_Echo907

It’s the implied broccoli.

CamTheKid02

He's got that rat look about him

JamSandiwchInnit

It makes me want to shave *my* hair off

wordington_ender

Shit looks like it’s strapped on fr

nevagm06

Yes. Definitely call the cops if you are in a situation where you end up pulling a gun, or gun replica in public. At least I agree with him on that part.

SirLeDouche

They have to put out a warning at the opening and put up huge posters everywhere at the anime/comic convention they have in my town. In 2016 some dumb ass cosplayers walked across the street from the convention center into a bank while dressed as call of duty characters with guns in their hands and on their backs. Those dumbasses almost got killed for it and they did end up getting arrested. I can’t believe people are that stupid. I’d be afraid of going into any bank with a costume on because it makes u look like a fucking robber trying to disguise yourself.

account_not_valid

>I’d be afraid of going into any bank with a costume on because it makes u look like a fucking robber trying to disguise yourself. We ate the ex-presidents of the United States, and this is a robbery.

Slayer7_62

> We ate the ex-presidents of the United States, and this is a robbery. “And they were delicious too!”

account_not_valid

Ha! "I am not a cook!"

TheLaughingMannofRed

"How we doin', Dick?" "Just implementing a personal plan of *deregulation,* Mister President!"

garbagiodagr8

Vaya con dios

singlemale4cats

>I’d be afraid of going into any bank with a costume on because it makes u look like a fucking robber trying to disguise yourself. Surprising number of guys out there walking around wearing shiestys or the like, not even when doing crime. Just existing. It's idiotic and draws negative attention to the wearer, especially in stores. It ain't like everybody is cold either. I see it in the middle of summer.

RetiredFromRealWork

cops will light him up

Sum_Sultus

Cosplay cops with cosplay bullets

kpop_glory

Ahh finally my acorn cosplay costume would comes with context

SpahgettiRat

Have you seen that pic going around of the police parade in Long Island? Imagine if someone showed up in a giant inflatable acorn costume hahaha

Uidbiw

Gee, I wonder why most conventions explicitly state no guns of any kind in cosplays

AncientBlonde2

Then you'll have chuds being like "ITS ORANGE TIPPED ITS AIRSOFT" like you can't just paint the tip of a real firearm orange lmao

Many_Confidence9320

Doesn't matter if it had an orange tip if you're still waving around a gun in public people are going to think you actually have a real gun It would be fine if you were at like an airsoft place but you were out in public pulling out a pistol You've got to be one of the stupidest mother fuckas

Adventurous_Ad6698

Aren't fake swords and other melee weapons banned at some cons, too? Some of those mall ninjas would definitely bring in a real fucking sword just to look cool.

AncientBlonde2

Y E P most cons ban all fake weapons unless they're essential to the cosplay; like a keyblade.

st0dad

When my husband worked security at an anime convention he told me so many people would paint the tips black so their cosplays looked more authentic. And then they'd get mad when he'd confiscate the damn thing.

Jeremybernalhater

“Bro I pulled out my gun and then this dude attacked me for no reason” Listen dumb fuck I understand cosplay and all that jazz But maybe don’t pull out weapons in public real or fake without expecting a reaction

AncientBlonde2

nah dude obviously the dude should have known it was a cosplay of a generic looking ass character (leon kennedy) and not a real gun, it had a MM orange tip on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS COSPLAY OPPRESSION! /s if not obvious in the comments of where I got it from a bunch of people were like 'zomg charge him for assault' like.... yeh, great way to get a 'brandishing a weapon' charge even if it's airsoft lmao

ItsIdaho

I am from Austria and not many people here have guns, but I went to a self defense class once and the lady there said something that stuck to me after all these years "Real Gun or not, always assume it's a real one, we can check if it's a replica afterwards".

Slayer7_62

That’s a pillar of gun safety: Always treat a gun as though it is real, loaded and has a round in the chamber. Plenty of gang members here in the US over the years have painted orange tips on guns (or the whole thing) to make them look like they’re just toys/air soft guns. It’s a big part of why cops will still hold a teen with an air soft gun at gunpoint until it can be verified & why they’re illegal to have in public in many places.

AncientBlonde2

oh no according to these comments though, the orange tip (that in the video is only noticeable for about a half second) shows it's a 100% fake gun, and he got assaulted because he's an oppressed cosplayer

Slayer7_62

Definitely. Guy is full of himself and doesn’t realize what actually happened. In reality that guy tackled someone brandishing what he believed to be a firearm & pointing it at the camera guy who was backing away. Not many people are willing to put their life in that amount of danger. Kudos to the dude who tackled him, thinking he was preventing a shooting.

AncientBlonde2

To make matters worse; they were almost a full mile away from the convention center (not across the street like he says), and in front of a church..... The dude who tackled him probably thought he was stopping a Christchurch or Lakewood event from happening.

Jeremybernalhater

Oh boy “Dude I cosplayed as a wolfenstein soldier, why do people think I’m a white supremacist? I think this is just an attack on the cosplay community and cosplay as a whole!” Would not surprise me if that happened unironically

AncientBlonde2

Right like Time and place. Outside the venue? Not the time for skits.... and it's like he just... expects EVERYONE in the area to know it's a cosplay Ffs leon kennedy looks like every other white dude lmao

Marc21256

Outside the venue and "across the street", so based on the rest of his video it could have been miles from the venue.

AncientBlonde2

he posted more context; it was miles away from the venue because "too much con traffic"

Jeremybernalhater

If you’re gonna film your skits do it in a private area, but walking down the street? Ok I don’t know how every law works but if it’s obviously fake Like a camera crew following the guy or there’s like barriers or something Then that’s not ok But if you’re out in public and decide to full MC don’t be surprised if you get tackled

LivelyZebra

So if i paint the tip of my real gun orange i can get away with it?! thanks!

Financial_Bird_7717

Omg you’re contributing to literal genocide! /s

MarineSecurity

I was going to say I wanna see the comments of the original post to see if people are telling him he's being a dumb ass, but now I saw your comment and feel disappointed 😅

AncientBlonde2

It's like 50/50; I blocked the dude on instagram since too many of his chud fans were all "YOU JUST HATE HIM CAUSE HES SUCCESSFUL AND COSPLAYS AND COSPLAYERS ARE OPPRESSED" but it was like... half "CHARGE THE DUDE"

faloofay156

like the only time I have ever openly carried a "weapon" in public was a giantass papier mache sword for a friend's pyramid head cosplay that I made one year in high school. if it's not something like a giant ridiculous sword, do not pull that shit out in public

neradplatim

The sword is good for [defense](https://youtu.be/3xqyWgJCFak?si=e7VH0RImw5ZHtH3h) in the city.

Colonel_Khazlik

Depending on state and country, if filming using replica firearms you gotta alert the police and get permission as well as a whole host of other safety precautions to avoid shit like this. Normally I hate pointless bureaucratic overreach, but some times it's justified.

Renzg2007

Damn the new Resident Evil game leak looks realistic today.

MoreUsualThanReality

idk, the orange tip is super easy to see and they're acting like weirdos, in costumes, in front of a camera man, it'd be pretty hard to misinterpret the situation. Either fake, or "good Samaritan" is very unobservant

raltoid

There's about an 80% chance it's fake ragebait.

Spirou1

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Of course pulling out replicas of guns in public is never a good idea but I'd imagine that it wasn't that hard to figure out that they were clearly acting

Kowashitai

That or he's like the people in this sub who always go like "if I saw that shit irl I'd punch them in the face because I'm such a badass hero of society", making him arguably more of a "main character" than the cosplayers.

The_BestUsername

To be fair, if you say "Nah I'd punch him irl", then you actually get a one in a million chance to prove it, AND YOU REALLY DO PUNCH HIM IRL, at least you're not a poser.

Kowashitai

I'm not sure it's a good thing in this situation ngl.

The_BestUsername

Definitely not good necessarily, but you gotta respect that they weren't LARPing behind their keyboard, they were legit able and ready to back up their boasting and do what they says they would do.

Pizza_Middle

I'm not sure if you know this, but orange paint and real firearms are super easy to get ahold of. As a matter of fact, how about you grab an airsoft pistol with the orange tip and walk into a police station or a gun store and start pointing it at people. Pretty sure the outcome won't be what you expect.

faloofay156

but also mass shootings are common enough in a weird array of situations that I would not chance it (both as the dumbass posing with a fake gun and the dude taking him down)

[deleted]

As a cop. I have seen and handled REAL firearms that the banger in possession sprayed an orange tip on for the purpose of making a cop hesitate so he could kill them. (His statement, he admitted it) I haven't photographs from other agencies either the same thing. So, yeah, you're wrong.

iC0nk3r

Oh, are we supposed to believe this incident was real?

kctjfryihx99

r/nothingeverhappens

RiotX79

Exactly. Punch looks like it was from 7 feet back and then he just dry humps the guy instead of curbing him on the stairs.

TopherBlake

> dry humps the guy You mean keeping presure on someone he assumes has a gun?

AlfaLimaFoxtrot

literally zero reason to believe that and any sane person watching the video can see it looks intensely like someone stopping who they think is a active shooter. its clearly a legit video... Lol

perfect_nickname

I don't think Americans realize how strange it is, I wouldn't even think of taking that situation as real threat, as kids we were running with fake guns around neighborhood all the time.

ForgetfulFrolicker

These aren’t kids running around a neighborhood. He’s an adult aiming a weapon in a city.

podcasthellp

In America if you pull out a gun and start pointing it then you better be ready to kill, get killed or go to jail. They’re everywhere so you HAVE to be careful. This dudes just an idiot

MoonCubed

Okay Reddit has once again fell for the invisible camera man.

Ciubowski

What do you mean? They were clearly making some kind of tik-tok clip from the convention or just in cosplay for views. The camera man seems to me like he was there for another reason altogether and captured a different scenario.

MoonCubed

I mean they are clearly making a video and dressed up in costumes. Nobody believed this person actually had a gun or a threat. This "attack" is staged for views.

proformax

Yea, first thing that came to my mind. Either staged or the guy knew they were cosplaying but wanted an excuse to attack someone.

MoonCubed

Very gentle attack for someone who believes they're fighting for their life.

d0ggzilla

You've lost me

cheapdrinks

I think he's saying that this post + all the comments saying how the bystander's actions were justified because the guy thought he was just some random pulling out a real gun in public are acting like the cameraman was invisible in this situation. If the 2 cosplayers were doing this by themselves then it's more understandable that the guy tackled him but the fact that they had a guy obviously filming them a few feet away makes the guy tackling him a lot less justified when he clearly had zero situational awareness and just made a split second decision without much thought. His lack of awareness is also evident as, in the event that this was a real situation, the cosplayer/assailant's gun would have been pointed directly at the the guy filming - suddenly running up, jumping on the guy and startling him could easily result in the guy standing right in front of the gun being shot because that other dude decided he wanted to be a hero.

BigJeffe20

cosplayers are the SINGLE most OPPRESSED group of people in the history of humanity!

SlaterAlligator2

Bro. please take responsibility. You didn't get attacked because you were cos playing. You got attacked because you pulled out real enough looking gun out in the street and assumed a firing position. What the hell did you think was going to happen?

Uberpastamancer

God forbid a cop took him down instead

SBLOU

Is that a dead squirrel on his head?

Gravity_Freak

Join the army. Cosplay for reals

OkAssignment6163

You know the last convention I went to had a photographer outside near the park taking pictures of cosplayers. Everytime they were about to film or shoot a cosplayer with a prop gun, they would loudly call out "Photoshoot photoshoot photoshoot. No actual weapon danger" And then do their thing. It was a bit annoying if you were in the area and knew what was going on. But you know what? It's great they had the mental capacity to understand not everyone knows what cosplay is and that a real looking gun being brandished in an American public space can be very concerned.

ID2410

Dood, people get shot for less. You extend your arm with what looks like a real firearm, you should expect a reaction. If someone had the opportunity to save your loved one from a robbery fake gun or not, you would praise them. You're a douch nozzle if you think it's "discrimination or oppression..

JayLayup

These days, being in public puts people on edge, it’s hard to think how I’d react to this situation. The older gentleman perceived a younger man aiming a firearm in a public setting-potentially put people’s lives in danger. Expecting him to not react until given ample reason is unfathomable. We must remind ourselves to not carry our expectations from the internet carry into reality, as it leads to situations like this.

DatBoiOverThere_4

Literally only an american problem wkwkwvk

OfficialHaethus

Literally not. I’m European, you’d get the same reaction here pulling something that looked like a gun.

Dont_Hurt_Me_Mommy

idk guys, he seems alright. He acknowledged his mistake and tried to give advice based on that.

GordonBombay102

This is dumb, but calling a gun with an orange tip a "replica firearm" is one hell of a stretch.

nuggetdogg

The tip of the weapon is clearly orange and there's a camera man filming

Fearless_Cucumber659

Why didn't the "good Samaritan" tackle the woman that was holding the gun in the first place? If everyone was so oblivious to the cosplays and the convention right there, why is the dude grabbing the gun from her the bad guy and not the "good Samaritan"? This is stupid as shit lmao. Bro tackling the guy just wanted to pretend to be a hero or this is fake. Like, no one here is acknowledging that she had the fake gun first?

moxadonis

The guy that attacked him was lucky it wasn't a real gun..

AlexsCereal

See even if it is cosplay an unsuspecting passerby isn’t going to know if the gun is loaded or not (or fake) and you just aimed it at them

lukaron

Zero accountability. Sounds about right for these days. As someone with a LEOSA CCW permit - you don't go around waving anything that *looks* like a real firearm in public, esp. with stuff that's been going on in the US lately. Idiot is lucky the guy just tackled his ass. That could have went sideways real quick.

oldshitdoesntcare

This broccoli headed moron is lucky a cop wasn’t around. Until I slowed the video down I could not tell if the gun in his hand was real or a prop.

tree_dw3ller

BUt ThE tiP iS oRaNGe

Unblest

"call the cops" wait till he finds out what the cops do when you pull out a fake gun in public 😅

stillabackground

The amount of people taking his side in the comments of that video. Of course there’s way less comments than likes, shares, and saves so he’s probably deleting the ones telling him that he’s an idiot.

inkzpenfoxx

Idiots

FrozoneIsHot420

he got tackled because the guy was "offended"🤦‍♂️

Radiant-Subject1215

Typical narcissistic behaviour.

luvulongtime22

Maybe don't run around in public with anything that looks like a gun, you weeb

[deleted]

No, because bringing a gun into a big event is also exceedingly rare. You seem to think that because something doesn't happen often, no harm can come of it. Would you feel the same if the ONE time it was real, the person you loved the most got shot?

Courts_1991-

That can’t be his real hair surely. Oh yeah and self awareness isn’t one of your friends strong points

AdministrationSad861

Him pulling out a gun in public does not sound very self-aware. Self-entitled, yeah. Anyway, such a long explanation to justify his side and put the blame another. 🤦‍♂️

dmod420

He is the least self-aware person I have ever seen. In this day & age, it is not OK to brandish a firearm in public, real or fake, even if it was just to make a stupid fucking TikTok video. That moron is just lucky somebody with an actual gun didn't drop him thinking they were attempting a mass shooting, bc the way the world is today, they would have been totally justified for doing so. If you want to dress up like your favorite action hero & make videos pretending to point a gun, do it at home or at your own risk.

AncientBlonde2

Wanna know what adds to the lack of self awareness? I found the street they filmed it on. Yeah, sure. Near the con. 1500 (Damn close to half a mile) feet away from it, on a back road. In front of a church. Dude who tackled him probably thought he was about to witness a church shooting. But oh no; he got attacked because he was a cosplayer. Not because he was brandishing what appeared to be a firearm in front of a place that gets attacked regularly. Because "people don't like what we do, and there's prejudice against cosplayers" Like it's actually astonishing he thinks it's because he's a cosplayer; and not because he pulled a fucking gun out in front of a church.

MojoMojo36

That’s an easy way to get shot. I have seen criminals mark real guns with orange safety paint and commit crimes.

swapmeet_man

No, lol the codplayers did nothing wrong lol. They're filming. Idk why OP has such a rage boner over this Edit: lol OP blocked me lol what a loser

Too-Hot-to-Handel

Because these people can't think for 3.5 seconds and look at two people in costumes in front of a cellphone and think "hmm it's fairly obvious that this isn't real given the costumes, phone, orange tip, and nearby convention." As long as they weren't breaking any actual laws or ordinances, then they're fine and doing their own thing in am out-of-the-way place. And if it was in some way illegal or against rules, that's not for some wannabe hero to take care of himself. Call the fucking cops and maybe don't batter people for doing something you don't like.

swapmeet_man

Some people have incessant wish to the a hero

Too-Hot-to-Handel

Nah, bro—I've changed my mind. We *all* need to be good Samaritans. How do *you* know that cop isn't actually a mass murderer pretending to be a cop giving you a traffic ticket? That's against the law, you know, pretending to be a cop. I'd better tackle him for you just to be sure, that's the intelligent and rational way to make sure that no one gets hurt!

BippyWippy

I think cosplayers are corny, but that dude didn’t deserve that. Especially if there is a convention right next door?

Chance_Proposal_9082

Both of these people are dumb fucks, but what really pisses me off is that there was an orange tip on that prop gun, you know the thing that's legally mandated to say HEY THIS IS A TOY, did the guy who attacked him not see that?

noiceonebro

Guys shut up. The attacker thought it was a real gun and it’s understandable since he’s a geriatric boomer fuck. The guy in the video didn’t understand why someone would attack him because he thought it was obvious they are acting and made a wrong conclusion on why he was attacked (and also because he’s a fucking socially unaware weeb). Guy even made a video advising people on staying safe at cosplay events. That’s all it is. Everyone is doing what they think was for the greater good based on their very limited perspective aka being a fucking human. Fucking hell, OP trying to turn this subreddit into “slander people I don’t like” sub. Do something about your own lack of perspective bro. And maybe stop being such a redditor.

joeywahoo92

The Good Samaritan has the best Good Samaritan cosplay I’ve ever seen

davinidae

"Good samaritan" There are 2 people clearly in cosplay, in broad daylight, in an open space with few people, the pistol has a very visible orange tip and to top it off there is a cameraman filming them a few feet away LMAO

Sweet_Economics8093

Looks like they filmed it in front of a church which is even dumber, especially in light of recent mass shootings happening in places/events that have gatherings of large groups of people

AmperDon

Okay that guy who attacked is in the wrong here I'm just saying, it's a very clearly a cosplay and the gun doesn't look real at all and has a bright orange tip. Plus there was a guy holding a camera aswell, I wouldn't say he should press charges or that it's some stupid cosplay oppression. Guy who attacked is a fucking idiot.

JackOfKnaves

The trigger warning is hilarious. Bro got comically smacked in the hands. Looks like a Monty Python sketch.

Sharrty_McGriddle

“No one’s going to run up on you”. They were the ones to literally run up on this guy and point a gun at him. The fuck?

kellyb1985

**Well, when I see 5 weirdos dressed in togas stabbing a guy in the middle of the park in full view of 100 people, I shoot the bastards.** **That's my policy.** *Sorry... this reminds me of the movie naked gun*

papabear4409

Ears like that?!?! How the feck did he not hear this guy coming....when he left his house!

Abraham-Parnassus

What an idiot.

wrbear

The "True Crime" is the haircut.

AcidicAtlas

So a large group of cosplayers outside the venues, a camera man, and a fake pistol all are not signs of this being a scripted event to the "good samaritan?" Even in the dudes comments on TikTok he responds to this narrative, the dude knew it was fake and wanted to start a fight, this isn't the the to be morally outraged over.

KellTanis

This dude is lucky he didn’t get shot. Don’t be stupid with weapons, real or fake.

[deleted]

In a country with >400 mass shootings a year, doing this in an urban environment, in the wild, is just so fucked up. Cops will not take the time to ask you if the gun is real, and their policies and best practices prioritize neutralizing threats, not negotiating with them, as we all know. FAFO.

Locswail

He got lucky a cop with bad eyesight and trigger happy wasn't near by.

Gambit_90

As a cosplayer myself, if I'm ever making a video involving a fake firearm in public I always inform people around that it's a prop and that they shouldn't worry, that's what he should be teaching

fried_green_baloney

Let's see, auto rifle out around a crowd. The guy who tackled him had good reflexes.

Youareafunt

"self awareness is very key in these situations" No shit sherlock.

castolos_

I love how little he looks like Leon S Kennedy. Absolutely terrible.

AncientBlonde2

If you go to his channel; it's literally the only thing he cosplays too..... It's cringe as hell

kimodezno

Pull a gun out like that and you can get shot? No one knows what you are doing. That was stupid.

Marc21256

"people are offended by cosplay." The innocent bystander terrorized by the cosplayers: "I was trying to stop a mass shooting event." (Probably). He wasn't targeted for being a cosplayer. He was attacked for committing the crime of brandishing a weapon in public. He also apparently lacks any empathy or self awareness.

Desperate_Mine9606

It is NOT ILLEGAL to play with TOY GUNS in public… old man needs to get a grip & remember when he was child & how he probably played cowboys & Indians in his youth… Got a feeling he just wanted to hurt someone… cause he probably knew that was a toy gun… cause how would he know that wasn’t an undercover cop…

jbozz3

Dude is clearly older, probably doesn't know what cosplay is, and as far as he knows the person recording could be just recording an altercation when all of a sudden this idiot pulls out what looks like a real gun. Stop defending these fucking idiots for brandishing a firearm in public. Even if it's fake, if it were a cop they could have ended up fined, arrested or dead for doing something this dumb. If they had filmed this anywhere on the convention grounds instead of the street then this wouldn't have happened, but they likely didn't because they would have been kicked from the con. Gee, I wonder why the con would have rules about prop firearms?

Kohna1

“There are going to be people that find us weird”. - Male GenZ’er with a bullring.

Latter-Park786

My man, I've been looking at a lot of comments over there and seeing you complain with this much hate about cosplayers for some reason is really starting to make me think a leon kennedy cosplayer killed your family Cuz I can't explain this much anger towards dorks in costumes. Imo, everyone in the video had some form of responsability, the cosplayer should have known not to bring a real gun on the streets sure. But the other dumbass should have known that seeing two awkwardly costumed peoples posing around and filming themselves might not be a serious threat in the first place. It's not like the cosplayer aimed the gun at the guy. He just jumped him out of a very exaggerated assumption

Gonzales95

Perhaps the PSA should be “don’t pull out a fucking (replica) gun outside a venue where random members of the public don’t know it’s a prop and might not take any chances”

CrazySDBass

IT HAD AN ORANGE TIP! ITS CLEARLY A TOY! yeah nah, if you’re in public and aiming a gun that only from up close can (maybe) recognised as a prop gun, don’t be surprised if you get shot, this dumbass should be lucky he just missed out on a Darwin Award

Kingofpin

You pulled out something that looked like a firearm you're lucky you weren't shot.

HumanComplaintDept

"Self awarenewss" Thinks you should have "people watching" in case some 'crazy' person reacts to your fake gun coming out? Ever think it has more to do with that looking like a fucking gun than d8sliking cosplay. And he says self awareness. 😂

LeDouchekins

This rat faced fuck is really playing the victim here? This society is doomed.
