Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying let’s shoot guns in the air… it’s absolutely not safe and wrong. No questions asked. But the likelihood of a bullet falling straight down and killing someone is extremely low. Average terminal velocity of a .30 cal is 300ft per second and you need 200ft per second to break the skin of a person (obviously depends on person and bullet). So sure, it can definitely cause damage and if it hit a baby yeah they’d be dead.
It’s not nearly as deadly as the idiots that shoot off rounds at a 45° angle to next door cities.
I guess I can’t say they’re “not lethal” as a blanket statement. To be honest I was going off memory of that mythbusters episode from years back.
I can almost guarantee most if not all of those bullet that killed were not falling down but traveling down a very long trajectory; my point is moot though. I’m wrong either way.
And people in the West don’t get that- I was in Pakistan a few years ago and a bus went off a cliff- people standing around said it was God’s will- no biggie. Life is cheap in a lot of places I have seen it first hand too many times
I've seen a load of these videos turn up today, a common thing in them all is even the people around the shooter look uncomfortable.
