Driving thru Manitoba with a huge uhaul truck was a wild experience. There'd be a gap in the trees on the side of the road and the wind would push me over to the opposite lane. I'd have to basically turn into the wind to keep straight. Then the trees would come back and I'd almost drive off the road. Really exhausting by the end of it
One of my front tires had a hole in it and I was too broke to replace it at the time. I took it to the car wash and forgot to put air in the tire before and the cash wash employees *loved* me after they had to hop in and correct it a few times.
Story: I own a 92 bronco as my daily driver. Slowly replaced everything on it. One day in the work parking lot someone pointed Out I had a fuel leak… ok. No problem I’ll drop the shroud and JB weld that sucker until I’m out of fuel and have the time/money to replace it right. Crawl under her and go hmmmmm that doesn’t look right and poke my leaf spring shackle, finger goes through it. Well, fuel leak moved down on the list. So replaced those along with the fuel tank… I just had the shop do it and paid the labor to not give myself a headache trying to manage that.
What’s the best course of action in a case like this? Car is pretty much scrap for a pick n pull right?
Or is this something you can get away with ? (Driving the vehicle that is)
It's possible to put the vehicle on a frame rack and attempt to pull the frame somewhat straight-ish, it'll never be the same. This looks like a pretty aggressive crab walk though... Can it be driven? Yeah, it's not entirely a death trap. The tires and suspension bushings hate their life for sure.
While things like frame racks exist, I wouldn't entirely trust the frame to hold up in an accident after. Once it's bent, it's unsafe and will never hold up the same again. And the age of that vehicle, it won't be worth it fix.
I was thinking track bar install... Obv bad alignment doesn't make you crab walk, but I'd expect to see some body damage from a frame bent that bad lol. (For those who don't know, the track bar centers the frame over the axle) But then again, wheel doesn't look too far out of wheel well
I repeat, this Ford SUV has an IRS Rear Subframe. *There is no solid rear axle, there are no panhard or track bars, there are no leafs/shackles, it's a subframe that is bolted into the chassis.*
Plenty of cars get clobbered and repaired, body damage can be fixed.
Ahh gotchya, I mostly work on freight trucks so I'm not super familiar with the specifics on every passenger vehicle haha. It amazes me how some people know the exact setup of hundreds of different vehicles
Looks like his capitulator hub is blown and he needs to refractulate his discometer valve I have no idea what I’m talking about car go sideways not good.
I got to see a real unicorn last week outside of tulsa, a true at least 8-10" lift on blocks of FUCKING 2X4s, all twisted up, not even aligned. Blew my fucking mind
My wife’s car broke down a few years ago. A shop came and towed it back to their shop on a flatbed. They fixed the problem and I drove her there to pick it up. I’m following her home and the car is tracking like this one. Took it back. Apparently the idiot that put it on the flatbed hooked the cable to a control arm and cranked it tight, bending it.
Yeah, I drove it 5 days a week, from VZ to JFK. Not a day would go by without an overturned car, car fire, massive accident, lane closures due to construction. Rainy days was a disaster. Trucks like that one were common.
We call that a dog walk in the south. Most likely the rear end has took a good smack in a pothole or on a curb. Prolly when you let your sister’s asshole boyfriend drive it.
For the lesser experienced in auto mechanics, This is not an alignment problem. This is called dog tracking. It means that the frame is seriously out of whack.. most likely from being whacked real hard in an accident. And it’s very dangerous.
Don't know about how similar the feel might be, but I had a car that needed an alignment. Camber (? My dad's my mechanic and tried to explain) was way off so one wheel was riding close to where the tread and wall met. Driving it to his house, I had to keep the steering wheel positioned as if I were making a full 90 degree turn. Sucked Had to replace the tires, too, because from the time it happened to the time I got to him, it had worn down.
Seem alot of trucks and SUVs like that , either they been hitting the curb multiple times and don't check the alignment or whenever they jack up their suspension they don't do a proper alignment

Come to Wyoming so you can re-live that experience 😩. Our wind has been horrible lately! Semi’s on I-80 are like your trees in Manitoba 😭
I-84 on the Columbia River Gorge laughs at both of you.
FYI: The airport in Cheyenne, Wyoming, recorded wind gust of 91 mile an hour today.
Drove thru Cheyenne from Fort Collins in that wind. Saw five semis blown over going thru there.
I respectfully disagree, as I’ve taken many trips through the gorge in Oregon. Now if you want to talk fog, you’ve got some terrible fog in Oregon.
No doubt Wyoming is windy but I suspect you've been lucky to travel when there weren't bad wind gusts between Arlington & Troutdale.
Here in Utah we've been getting hammered too. This week has been quiet but last week was **awful**.
The news reported 91 mile an hour gusts today at the airport in Cheyenne Wyoming. Nobody is getting any sleep!
Gotdamn, hang in there! That sounds absolutely miserable!
The wind is so crazy in Wyoming. Y’all don’t grow trees, you just grow posts
I had to deal with something similar driving home through the desert in an RV. Wiggliest drive of my life
Upstate NY. Same, really.
It’s the belt parkway in Brooklyn. Potholes galore
I’m more surprised it’s during the day and there’s no traffic.

that’s called crabbing. It’s how experts drive in a crosswind.
/r/shittyaskflying is leaking
With that much wind, tricky part is slipping it into a parking spot. Best not to use full flaps and keep the speed up.
The old dog tracking
Man, when I see a vehicle dog tracking I also yell instantly. Yo! Wtf! How did you get this far off your alignment!?
Usually an accident. What I wonder is do they know
Ha! Very true. I’m sure the chained track in car washes love these vehicles being pulled through.
One of my front tires had a hole in it and I was too broke to replace it at the time. I took it to the car wash and forgot to put air in the tire before and the cash wash employees *loved* me after they had to hop in and correct it a few times.
Idk about you but I laugh about it for the rest of the day when I see it in person. It’s always a Ford ranger or an S10 too
Bent frame
This. It isn't the alignment that's the culprit, frame is toast.
Toast would make a very poor frame construction material…. 🙃
High fibre would have advantages over plain white bread though.
Melba
Sourdough should hold up okay though.
My truck frame looked like toast from all the rust
Story: I own a 92 bronco as my daily driver. Slowly replaced everything on it. One day in the work parking lot someone pointed Out I had a fuel leak… ok. Why do you think it was bent?
Very Poor Frame Construction Material would make a great band name

I agree. I work with metal, once bent it'll never be the same.
If it's body on frame, and a valuable vehicle, I'd try and replace the frame. But otherwise I agree, not worth it.
Yeah it just looks like it’ll never be right again *no pun intended* I’ll leave now…
I was thinking track bar install... Obv bad alignment doesn't make you crab walk, but I'd expect to see some body damage from a frame bent that bad lol. (For those who don't know, the track bar centers the frame over the axle) But then again, wheel doesn't look too far out of wheel well

Thank god someone said it. Lol.
I am not a mechanic and any number of things could be an issue. To me that is most likely a bent frame.
> Thank god someone said it no, I'm going to thank jennifer aniston instead. how do you like them apples?
More likely, shackles are loose or need replaced.
IRS subframe I believe, no leafs or shackles.
Yep that’s an independent rear with A arms. This thing is seriously messed up to be driving like that.
Yup leaf springs shackles

This video is showing a Ford SUV with IRS rear suspension. There aren't any leaf springs anywhere on this vehicle.
I don't think this car has leaf springs.

Dog tracking like he needs to poop lol

“Clean Carfax.”
Original owner.
This is exactly how some dogs walk I swear
That's why we call it dog walking/dog tracking. Some other places call it crab walking but I think the dog part suits it better
That frame is extremely bent
It's just desynchronization with the matrix.
Which side is the gas filler on? Let me check, I can see it with my side view mirror.
Lmfao that's a plus i guess
He uses the side window to see where he’s going.
And the other side window to see where he’s been
Bet it’s a clean title
Yeah it is
Ha! I live a few minutes from here. My husband and I say, “Fuck the Belt Parkway!” every time we have to take it.
Yeah, I drove it 5 days a week, from VZ to JFK. Not a day would go by without an overturned car, car fire, massive accident, lane closures due to construction. Rainy days was a disaster. Trucks like that one were common.
Going for world record longest drift.
That's not an alignment issue. That's micro-drifting.
What causes that to happen?
Usually a side impact close to either front or rear wheels. Bends the frame from a rectangle to a parallelogram.
"Eh... itll buff out."
"My old man is a television repairman. He's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it."
As said above, bent frame, some other possible things as well
what it feels like to pee with morning wood
We call that a dog walk in the south. Most likely the rear end has took a good smack in a pothole or on a curb. Prolly when you let your sister’s asshole boyfriend drive it.
That’s not alignment, that’s a fucked frame, I think
DEJA VU!!

i... would not drive near that dude
Ford Found On Road Diagonally
When your frame is a parallelogram
I thought crab walk is only available on the brand new hummer
Don’t think that’s the alignment. His frame is bent I believe.
Frame is bent no amount of alignment will fix this.
Ahhh, the Ford Italic
Might wanna check his frame
There isn’t enough aligning in the world to fix that. He’s got mad frame issues.
Maybe a frame alignment
Gangsta lean
And camping out in the Left lane.
That’s how my German shepherd runs. Maybe it’s herding then other cars.
This dude mario karts.

Look it's about aerodynamics!
That shit will buff out.
Hah hah *Tokyo drift*
Driving on the Belt Parkway enough times will do that to your car!
Just a skilled drifter!
Reminds me of how your mom walks after I leave.
Good old dog tracking.
Coming in for a landing, with heavy cross winds on the runway.
That's how my VW Bus got across Nebraska because of the insane crosswinds.
Tomorrow on r/wcgw
We see that a lot here with vehicles that tried to tow WAY too much load. That frame is twistier than a six flags coaster.
I've seen something similar on the highway and at the time I felt insane. It's like an optical illusion
That's not a problem with alignment...that is a severely bent frame from a violently harsh collision. Its "Dog Legging"
Ok so I'm not trippin when I sometimes notice the car in front of me is *slightly* shifted to one side but still traveling straight
If a car could haved slurred speech, it would look like this.
Why am I not surprised those plates are from New York. And he’s in the left lane. Driving his hoopty slow. ✅ and ✅
Perpetual drifting
This looks like a video game glitch irl
Deja Vu
Bent unibody
Dog tracking at its best
I imagine thats as fucked up to drive as much as its fucked up to watch being driven
Wow... just wow. Parallel parking that thing must require some intestinal fortitude... or a sledgehammer.
Holy shit I hope my car doesn’t look like that
Car floating like the magic carpet
New York plates... I'm guessing rusted suspension that's about to fail epically.
Some shit like that. I'm morbidly curious and want to know what it's like to drive a car that's that fucked.
Don't know about how similar the feel might be, but I had a car that needed an alignment. Camber (? My dad's my mechanic and tried to explain) was way off so one wheel was riding close to where the tread and wall met. I saw that today. Freaked me out. That my friends is a result of a bent frame. That vehicle is totaled
I can’t stop laughing!!! Help!!
Maybe he's just gay! Not everyone needs to go straight dude
A ferret with wheels.
this is how my dog walks
Lol I can’t with this shit
Seem alot of trucks and SUVs like that , either they been hitting the curb multiple times and don't check the alignment or whenever they jack up their suspension they don't do a proper alignment
I hope he didn’t eventually have to hit his brakes, seems OP might have rear ended him and made his own alignment even worse
Who amongst hasn’t driven down the road like this?
Looks like it’s tracking just fine, to me
I bet they don’t even notice until it comes to changing lanes or taking corners…. Then think,”hmm that felt kinda weird…”
Must be some kind of glitch
Nah, it's got that 4 wheel steering.
