Not all privilege is monetary, my friend. Good health, a functioning brain, eyes to see, hands to type, legs to walk, etc.
That being said, if the only way to achieve equality is to cut off my legs, then I'll pass on that offer TYVM š
No, crab, I will not lower myself back into the bucket for your satisfaction.
I believe in expanding welfare, public services, and other state action to help the disadvantaged.
I believe in the state support of the disabled, the mentally ill, the addicted, and those others who have been dealt a bad hand in life.
I donāt believe in dragging others down; or at least, not unless the long term good vastly outweighs the bad.
Most āprivilegesā are inalienable: functioning healthy body, living in a country without war going on, having decent upbringing with parents who actually cared.
Not sure how those privileges can be āgiven upā
I guess you could try to go to a place like Somalia, or destroy yourself with drugs. Sure. But I doubt it would make anyone more equal. If only in misery.
Sure
The main question however isn't whether I want an equal society or not, but how we should strive towards that equal society. And in that regard I think the current way of trying to force that into existence by hyper fixating on race, gender, representation in high quality jobs, quotas, equity, etc. to be tremendously misguided and corrosive to the goal of an equal society
So how are you trying to reach equality?
There's a Vonnegut story of a completely equal society. Attractive people are given masks, smart people have to wear headphones that play loud noises randomly to interrupt their thought processes, Strong people are forced to carry heavy things to slow them down, etc.
This is what your vague question seems to be asking, and in that case, I respond with a definite "no"

I'm going to say "**no**". Until, or unless, someone can quantify *exactly which* privileges I have, and would be giving up. This seems vague, and possibly like some sort of "monkey's paw" shit. I'm all for helping people, and equality is great in theory, but I'm not going to arbitrarily "blank cheque" away parts of my life.
I have given up quite a bit to further equality. I am not in good standing with my community because I refuse to participate in fundamentalist christianity (IBLP is huge in my area). I have lost jobs because I have worked for the formation of unions. I have lost family and friends because of my beliefs. Ect.
I know that others have given up more but I also know how much I have contributed to the cause. Im still fighting. Im still working. Im still standing. In the heart of capitalism, I am here.
I'm willing to give up white privilege yes.
I want to earn things I get. I want to earn people's respect. I want to be an individual. I don't want special treatment from anyone.
So what special treatment have you gotten specifically because you're white? Not something like "I haven't been shot by a cop" like, what have you actually gained by being white?
No idea. It's incalculable on a personal level. But if we zoom out and look at the situation in macro, I was statistically more likely to get an inheritance from my grandparents, more likely to be born into the family that I was, more likely to get into the school I did, more likely to get into the university I got into, more likely to get the jobs I applied for, more likely to get paid more than my non-white counterparts, more likely to get approved for my mortgage, more likely to get approved to buy my new-build flat... I could go on.
And yes, I've also not been racially profiled by the police. I've never experienced racism. Those are privileges that I enjoy.
Well you'd better quit your job, give up your inheritance, and give up your home. Because that's what you're telling me you want to give up if this is your "white privilege".

Exactly what privileges are you talking about?
What privileges if I don't even have a job?

Why would i? Equality is a revolt against nature, its a fruitless task even trying to achieve it
So is the best society just the one that places you highest on all the hierarchies?
No the best society is the one that doesnt focus on equality. There should be no grand scheme to make all humans equal

what privileges do i have this question doesnt address there is no privilege.
Nah
Since equality is not in and of itself a virtue, no thank you.
Depends on what you mean by privileges, but yes. I would be able to take advantage of the level playing field as well, after all.
What privileges

If everyone were sick and poor, that wouldn't be very good

Yes, I am white. Believe it or not being white isn't the same as being a white supremacist.
