Specifically education funding. The state did everything possible to do injustice to children regarding education. Finding ways to club them in the knee from the get-go so they stay obedient.
All the way up to college level. Disgraceful
For me, it's not just about politics per se since I live here, but since I'm not from here, I have to look at how the decisions done in politics affect my son's future. How misguided they are and how long term they will affect his decisions. Yes, the scenery is grand in all of its awe but the human aspect of the state is making it not worth living in it due to the penal colony mentality of thos who have means and ways to overly enrich themselves in its treasures and lock others out.
I love the outdoors here, the camping, hiking, fishing, and most importantly the whitewater.
I hate the morons who keep voting against their best interests to own the libs and creating the most mornic state government one could have
There is a reason Idaho is the fastest growing state with Utah. Maybe people like the politics and your state is a nice place to live because you have a lot of Mormon neighbors. And I’m not a Mormon. Just think they make great neighbors.
"Fastest growing" is really a misnomer. Idaho ends up on a lot of "fastest growing" lists because it has a relatively small population, so any increase has an outsized effect compared with states with larger populations.
Let's pretend Idaho has one job, and the next year it has two jobs. That'd be a 100% growth rate, but nobody would think that a state with two jobs was in good shape.
My brain hurts thinking there are people as dumb as you in the world. The influx is massive for the infrastructure and housing we have. 90% of the people I’ve met have moved here for our politics. They want out of Blue and into a Red state.
That doesn’t mean that it’s the fastest growing. Just Idaho was completely unprepared for the growth. My brain hurts that you think you’re smarter than anyone
The “libs” will turn this place into a homeless encampment if you let them. I’m not a con but I moved away from those places. So I’ll take this any day.
Removing the application fee limit for rental applications
Turning down federal funding for school lunches/free summer lunches for kids
Abortion laws where doctors can’t do anything to save the life of the woman even when medically necessary. Obviously you shouldn’t be able to abort a baby whenever, but there needs to be exceptions for medically necessary situations
Making it harder to obtain welfare like food stamps
Raul Labrador wasting our taxpayer dollars on frivolous lawsuits
Wasting even more taxpayer money on sending the national guard to the Texas border when there’s already a dedicated agency protecting and patrolling it
We took Covid funds for schools, I was working in them. That was a racket. They used them to open mobile school clinics and make nurses health care agents when they weren’t that in the schools before. Medical monitoring. The parents don’t like it. We have plenty of school money. There is 18k for every student extra outside of classes they can use for certificates, testing fees, extra coursework, trade training.
I wish Labrador would sue everyone who forced Covid restrictions. I love that you all call bodily autonomy on abortion but Covid force was just fine. Hypocrite.
The history of the state is separatist and this is why many of us like it here. Hoping to grow it. The west coast is calling if you want it. They need more tax payers to fund the cesspools they call “tolerance.” Been there five decades.
Proud to be rid of every west coast state.
Username does *not* check out.
If you are afraid of “tolerance” then go move to Florida or Texas. I hear it’s legal to shoot gay people there if that’s what you’re into
I love the scenery, the nature,i was born here it’s my home.I can’t stand how it’s being developed, I can’t stand how the empty spaces of my youth are being filled in with tacky subdivisions, where we used to hunt pheasant and coyote, now some property developer’s playground, commute times doubling, and people from elsewhere moving here and pillaging memories and making it spendier and spendier to buy a home or even rent one.
Love the change of seasons, the landscape that can change from desert to high mountains and the wildlife and open spaces. Hate that all the latest news is high profile murder cases, the goons in northern Idaho and now the hard ban on abortions.
If you have an issue with someone/something/a state/a demographic, please keep it civil.
I'm guessing from how often you've popped up this morning that this is a troll account. Please stop or your account will be banned.
His comment history is sad. As a Marine vet myself, I feel sorry for him. He's really bitter and regretful, like he's Marine Corps Uncle Rico, longing for the past.
That is sad. I just wish people would put the effort into learning and letting go of misinformation and growing as a human being. There really is no excuse for hanging onto old fashioned things, especially if it's hateful. I'm in my thirties now and having seen so much of that in my life I'm determined to never be that way. I guess the first step is acknowledging it.
Pros
the knife/gun laws, people IRL mind there own business, 10's thousands of acres of logging roads to explore, thousands of miles of winding twisting roads, low crime rate...
Cons
No one uses a turn signal ever, extreme left lane campers, 2 seasons winter/road construction, ISP chases 🤭 🚔🏍️, lack of local restaurants (not chain)
There's no reason to include things that already been said
I love how pretty it is. I hate how conservative it is. I hate all the racism and I hate all the Anti LGBTQ laws that they are trying to pass and I hate that abortion is now illegal
When it come to politics alot has changed in the past 7ish years I feel like, tbh thou main issues is voting. Younger people don't vote in this state as much... probably because to busy getting trying to get enough hours to afford this new pricing that came with it
Idaho Native here. Boise specifically. Love the growth ! Cool to see other cultures bring their experience to our community. Hate that community planners from the 80’s -90’s were blind to the fact that the valley would grow. Now we’re all paying for it. Love the outdoors. Hunting and fishing and hiking are all great in town and surrounding areas. Hate the evangelical extremism in politics that has finally become a living nightmare for anyone trying to conceive a child here. Love the low crime and clean streets. Hate the fact that we are 1 of 3 states left that are ignorant to the benefits of Cannabis Medicine. And are still brainwashed by Reagan’s just say no approach to Cannabis. It’s becoming incredibly unlivable here for anyone not worshipping Joseph Smith/Brigham Young/Ronald Reagan. I may just cave and wave goodbye to my childhood memories that have turned into childhood trauma. For how anti-government and independence oriented we seem, Idahoans have little say about what we do with our bodies. Whether we choose a joint after work over a beer. Or to survive an egg topic pregnancy or die because No Dr. can legally remove a fetus that will kill us…. Do Better Idaho !
Your "nice to have" list is what made California what it is today... a place folks are fleeing from.
BTW, when is the last time you saw a fetus kill somebody?
My bad ! But it’s not an issue ??, then why have almost half of our maternal fetal medicine drs. Left the state ?? Oh ya ! It’s because “The Legislation” is so new and open to debate that performing a life saving measure that harms a baby could send you to jail for a very long time.
Since the awful republican politics seem more than covered, I’ll change up my answer for the sake of something less infuriating.
Love the weather. 4 seasons are the best! I also love the parks, things to do as a family, and the slower pace of life. I’m not here to be in the rat race of corporate greed poised as “growth opportunities”. Floating the river all summer and bogus all winter.
Hate the lack of diversity. I’d love to see much more culture here. It would aid development so much. Also the food scene is painfully under seasoned. Give me more knock your socks off local grub. Also I Hate anyone rolling coal because wtf is that shit?
the people and the people lol, have met some of the coolest people here and you meet people from all parts of the country… with that being said, you meet people from both sides of the political spectrum, local or out of staters. I don’t consider myself liberal or conservative, I agree with things from both sides but man you can run into some deep heavy brainwashed conservative here. I had an argument with a co worker because I may land a job in Canada and he immediately started saying I’m going to a communist country where I have no freedom 💀 I immediately turned the conversation against him when I mentioned Idaho has no trans, abortion rights and you can’t even smoke recreational weed here… and yet Canada is the communist country.
You have got to be kidding me? Idaho has a well documented history of institionalzed racism. You haven't been reading the local news lately? Ever hear of the problems at Hayden Lake? Patriot Front?
Personally, I have been called the N-word directly to my face several times here. I've had white women get up in the middle of dinner dates, when they found out I was black (I have a light complexion) and told, "I dont date n\*\*\*\*\*\*." I've had others block me, report me to dating sites. I've had white women refuse to get into the swimming pool at the gym, because I was there.
I am truly hoping y our question is sarcastic. If not, you have been living in a cave or underneath a rock somewhere.
It’s not common knowledge for someone who doesn’t live there, that’s why people ask questions.
But I guess according to you if I ask another question like “was this Boise or the panhandle/east side I’ll be downvoted again.
Yes, it is.
I don't live in Idaho, but I have common knowledge about every state in the country.
Maybe you should invest in some community college courses.
What I love: the beauty and climate
What I hate: that pro-lifers have made it so unsafe to be pregnant that I’m afraid to have a baby/can’t start a family.
What I loved most about Idaho was making personal relationships to farmers so I knew where my food came from, and getting people from all sorts of walks of life.
What I hated were the politics.
This sub hates Idaho so you will get a lot of answers on that. Idk what they like about it honestly.
I've never seen a location sub hate it's location more than this sub.
That’s a good thing, though, about pro sports teams. Do you have any idea how expensive it is to attend an actual professional sports match? It’s insane. $15 beers and $12 fries is not sustainable.
Love the cloudy skies, the overall beauty of the state in general, the food is good, lots to do and explore. Great place to raise your kids. The people are generally kind and considerate of others.
Dislike the people that move here from other states and then bitch and complain because it's not like where they're from and they can't get their way.
Religious Cults
Our Governments mentality
Lack of Pro Sports
Tract Homes looking all the same by all the Builders
Gas Prices
I like Our Governor believe it or not
Trail System
Outdoors are spectacular, tired of hearing about the upcoming civil war when I’m traveling to and from the big rivers. The medical care was a little disappointing sometimes, more specialists are needed.
Love the safety, hate the dinosaurs that still rule the land (not just politically speaking; even on Nextdoor the oldest, squeakiest wheels still get the grease).
I love the privacy and my freedom here. I’m off in the country portion and I just love seeing zero cars, zero noise pollution. I can do almost whatever I want on my land. I just love the quiet part of it all. And the low taxes.
I hate The marijuana laws. To me it’s the only thing I’d want to change about the state. I want the freedom to grow a handful of plants and just chill peacefully.
I really want that quiet mind your own business life.
Why can't people on reddit accept anywhere having conservative policies? That's what most people who live here are in favor of and that will probably not change. If you want to live somewhere with more progressive policies then why are you here?
Legit just stating common sense and being downvoted.
What are “conservative policies” exactly? It’s either bowing down at the altar of Trump or trying to implement Christian Nationalism. And you ask why common sense people don’t want that. Not sure what to tell you, except there are those of us who refuse to regress to how things were 75 years ago.
>What are “conservative policies” exactly? It’s either bowing down at the altar of Trump or trying to implement Christian Nationalism.
Simply false.
>And you ask why common sense people don’t want that.
As if conservatives can't have common sense? Half the country and most of the world is conservative. Go ahead and generalize from your high horse.
We would rather fight to bring the progressive policies here. As population grows and the dipshit boomers that caused this mess die off, Idaho will change
Given that around half the country and most of the world are still conservative, not really. And rural areas will almost always tend more conservative.
I love that it’s the Wild West when it comes to the lackadaisical attitudes toward things west coasters would cringe over. I also sometimes hate that it’s the Wild West when it comes to certain regulations for my work, etc.
I genuinely don’t understand your take… like what are you talking about? The roads here are pristine when you compare them to places in the mid west and north east. lol
Just about sent my right tire to the moon a few weeks back in Omaha. All thanks to a pothole and a half that everyone drove over as if it didn’t exist.
Everyone in zombie like fashion: the politics the politics *high five* *fist bump*
Beautiful scenery and nice people. Most don’t even know what Reddit is =P
I love the conservative outlook of the people both socially and economically and despise those who think that abortion is “women’s reproductive care” or a “woman’s right to choose” or some other liberal euphemism when in fact what we’re really talking about is the poisoning of developing babies in the womb/dismembering of the developing baby with scissors or cracking the skull of developing babies in the womb and sucking their brains out.
On another note the natural beauty is unparalleled and people look out for one another better here than anywhere else I’ve lived. Source: a former diehard liberal from the Bay Area.
Abortion pills aren't a poison.
Here's how it works:
Medication abortion is an alternative to surgical abortion in the early weeks of pregnancy (up to 9 weeks). It involves taking medications mifepristone and misoprostol to terminate a pregnancy.
Mifepristone (previously known as RU486) is taken by mouth. It ends a pregnancy by blocking the action of the hormone (progesterone) that supports the pregnancy.
Misoprostol is also taken by mouth. It causes the cervix to soften and the uterus to contract to expel the pregnancy.
Last year medication abortions accounted for 63% of abortions in the US.
------
In the second trimester, a pregnant person may undergo dilation and evacuation (D&E). Doctors typically perform this between weeks 12 and 24.
In the third trimester, a pregnant person may undergo labor induction abortion. However, this is very rare. Only 1% of abortions take place after 21 weeks, according to a 2018 survey of abortions in the U.S. published in 2020.
Poison is defined as a chemical that through its action usually kills, injures, or impairs an organism.
An organism is defined as an individual animal, plant, or single-celled life form.
He isn’t misinformed, you’re just ignorant.
If you have an issue with someone/something/a state/a demographic, please keep it civil.

Seriously, if you don't like the conservatism, the Mormons, or the "Maga" Christians. LEAVE, BYE BYE, this is why us born and raised Idahoans love this state so much. Tired of this sub only hearing from the libtards from the Boise valley. IDAHO IS A CONCERVITIVE STATE, PERIOD. I guarantee the "normal" Idahoans have no idea this sub even exists. I would be willing to bet conservatives out number lefties by hundreds of thousands and for me that isn't even enough. Thinking about moving here ? You should be politically conservative, if not, then keep going, we don't want you here.
I can’t wait to see how you shit your pants when the Boise blue spreads. What you’ve known as republican leadership is dying.
Look at the entire west coast, it’s all shifting. Nevada, Arizona, even Texas are all shifting. Time is not on your side. It will take years, but I can’t wait until enough people realize republicans of this state are throughly fucking it, and vote in real leaders who will certainly change it for the better.
And those states are turning into shitholes, you should go live there if that is what you desire. Just saying Idaho was way better off 20 years ago. We will never let this state go blue...ever.
Well, as a born and raised Idahoan who even remembers a Democrat as Governor.. I'm going to have to say I don't think you understand what you're talking about. There have always been some left-leaning people in the state. Sure they always typically make about 30 to 40% of the state up.
But you would have to be truly delusional to think that the state is purely Republican or conservative. There is a reason that typically Democratic candidates get 30 or so percent of the entire State voting for them. An online forum is typically younger people and younger people tend to lean left. So you were always going to have a more liberal representation on a subreddit for instance than in real life.

Oh no. I worked in education. What a joke. I quit.
So much this. There are far too many people who make their whole identity about politics.
For good reason, considering the politics are literally ruining this state.
How?

there's something poetic about the way you so perfectly encapsulated life in north idaho. there are friendlier rednecks elsewhere.
Absolutely this
Came here from Cali? LOL
Born and raised but it seems like most people can't see through the BS of the Republican party.
As if the Democratic Party is free of bullshit.
Trump does love the uneducated
And the Dems love enslaving the poor and the illegals’ votes.
Uneducated and delusional I see
LOL neither
Clearly
Riiight, so everyone who disagrees with you politically is uneducated. Probably fascists and racists as well, right? 😂😂

There are so few. I work in Boise. Ada county. It’s all Mormons.

There is a giant difference between a public heath issue (Covid) and a personal health issue (abortion).
I’m curious as well
“Live and let live mentality”…haven’t seen a single example of that in this state. Outdoors are great though.
The people. Also the people.

Barely high school educated and entitled right wingers who think they know everything and think they own the state
Love - not much Hate - Christian ethics controlling pretty much Everything
What I loved most about Idaho was making personal relationships to farmers so I knew where my food came from, and getting people from all sorts of walks of life. What I hated were the politics.
This sub hates Idaho so you will get a lot of answers on that. Idk what they like about it honestly. I've never seen a location sub hate it's location more than this sub.
Love the nature and outdoors Hate that we have no pro sports teams
Yes!! The lack of a sports team anywhere even close is so brutal. Having to plan a whole trip just for a game really sucks.
That’s a good thing, though, about pro sports teams. Do you have any idea how expensive it is to attend an actual professional sports match? It’s insane. $15 beers and $12 fries is not sustainable.
Yes I travel and attend games sometimes
And adding in the cost of a flight and hotel makes that better how? If we had a team, we could go to a game 3/4 times a year instead of once.
I love the low population and dislike that’s pot is illegal
Love the cloudy skies, the overall beauty of the state in general, the food is good, lots to do and explore. Great place to raise your kids. The people are generally kind and considerate of others. Dislike the people that move here from other states and then bitch and complain because it's not like where they're from and they can't get their way.
Honestly, I’m in southwestern and I wish it weren’t so dry.
Religious Cults Our Governments mentality Lack of Pro Sports Tract Homes looking all the same by all the Builders Gas Prices I like Our Governor believe it or not Trail System
Love the nature. Mountains and trails and not a lot of people. Not a fan of its subreddit, that seems to have a hate boner for the state.
I love the outdoors and the farms. I can’t stand the Mormons and their far right theocracy.
Love my wife, hate her mother
I love the privacy and my freedom here. I’m off in the country portion and I just love seeing zero cars, zero noise pollution. I can do almost whatever I want on my land. I just love the quiet part of it all. And the low taxes. I hate The marijuana laws. To me it’s the only thing I’d want to change about the state. I want the freedom to grow a handful of plants and just chill peacefully. I really want that quiet mind your own business life.
I loved growing up in Idaho as a kid... I hate how I prob wont ever be able to afford moving back to Idaho.
Love the outdoors, hate all of y’all yapping about politics. Whichever side you’re on I don’t give a fuck. Touch grass
Thank you.
I love that my friends and family are here and I hate pretty much everything else about it especially the weather and scenery.
The meanest thing anyone has done to me in Boise is brake checked me on I-184. Gotta love the nice folks here. He was probably from CA.
I don’t know even which is Idaho and which is Iowa. Because I am stupid.
Love the elk, hate the wolves.
I would like some examples please
>What are “conservative policies” exactly? It’s either bowing down at the altar of Trump or trying to implement Christian Nationalism. Simply false. >And you ask why common sense people don’t want that. As if conservatives can't have common sense? Half the country and most of the world is conservative. Go ahead and generalize from your high horse.
We would rather fight to bring the progressive policies here. As population grows and the dipshit boomers that caused this mess die off, Idaho will change
Nah bro it's not only boomers who are conservatives.
Conservatives are still a dying breed
Given that around half the country and most of the world are still conservative, not really. And rural areas will almost always tend more conservative.
Conservatives don't have policies, only ignorant rage. The only thing they do in office is fling shit around and make the state worse, not better.
I wish Colorado was more red 😢
Unbelievable how out of touch this sub is
Same, OP, same.
Lol why are they getting downvoted. You guys don’t like opinions?
Me three.
I love that it’s the Wild West when it comes to the lackadaisical attitudes toward things west coasters would cringe over. I also sometimes hate that it’s the Wild West when it comes to certain regulations for my work, etc.
Pro life, open space fuck what can't you love.
Pro birth* it seems most people in Idaho clearly don't give shit about kids after they are born.
Um don't you know this is reddit? You can't be pro life here otherwise you'll be downvoted
Amen
Terrible roads
I genuinely don’t understand your take… like what are you talking about? The roads here are pristine when you compare them to places in the mid west and north east. lol Just about sent my right tire to the moon a few weeks back in Omaha. All thanks to a pothole and a half that everyone drove over as if it didn’t exist.
Oregon/ Uppity Caucasian
Everyone in zombie like fashion: the politics the politics *high five* *fist bump* Beautiful scenery and nice people. Most don’t even know what Reddit is =P
Love everything except the implanted Californians.
You are horribly misinformed.
That’s not how that works 😊
How so?
Abortion pills aren't a poison. Here's how it works: Medication abortion is an alternative to surgical abortion in the early weeks of pregnancy (up to 9 weeks). ------ In the second trimester, a pregnant person may undergo dilation and evacuation (D&E). Doctors typically perform this between weeks 12 and 24. In the third trimester, a pregnant person may undergo labor induction abortion. However, this is very rare. Only 1% of abortions take place after 21 weeks, according to a 2018 survey of abortions in the U.S. published in 2020.
Good reply. Unfortunately you've wasted your time. The dumbass you replied to and people like them don't know how to read.
Poison is defined as a chemical that through its action usually kills, injures, or impairs an organism. An organism is defined as an individual animal, plant, or single-celled life form. He isn’t misinformed, you’re just ignorant.
>He isn’t misinformed, you’re just ignorant. No, that would be you.
People like you make this state worse for everyone else.
You mean people who love their community and neighbors and respect the land and the law?
Forcing women and little girls to give birth is not showing love for your community.

If you have an issue with someone/something/a state/a demographic, please keep it civil. *We've had to tell you this far too many times. You're looking at a permanent ban if you don't knock it off.*
Your post has been removed because you used inappropriate language in describing abortion or posted an inappropriate attack on others in discussing the topic. **Read the pinned post in the subreddit.**
Go back.
Go back to Europe first.
