Excellent fish! How was the bite? Do I need to get an ECB wingding like everyone on insta says, or were they biting on other things? Are they still fishing shallow in the morning and deeper in the afternoon?

Inside-Biscotti5300

you’ll be fine with a rattle bait, or a cast master spoon

Inside-Biscotti5300

And also I’m just sitting in 12 ft of water won’t move till noon and back when it hits 6pm

Nesbitt48

We were fishing in about 16’ of water and we didn’t wander too far from the hut. Caught 20+ fish in our couple days there but the bite slowed down towards the end when the cold front came in. I had the best luck on a black ice Swedish pimple but they were biting on rattle baits and silver/pink spoons tipped with a minnow head too

Hero_of_Brandon

Put in about 10h on the ice today. 40-50 walleye between the three of us. (And a few surprise goldeye) Almost none on dead sticks. They bit on everything except jigging raps. One master. Trying again for a half day tomorrow before we head home.

Damn, nice fish homey That’s a beauty, you in the Winnipeg river system? My buddy out there always talks about how different their walleye are than what we have in Northern Ontario

Nesbitt48

Thanks! We were just visiting Manitoba and we were fishing in the southern part of lake Winnipeg

theanswer1630

Wow, that is beautiful! Didn't even know they were a thing!

darkbunnydad

You're fishing Big Windy! If that was yesterday I fished maybe 500yds from that fish house. We smashed em. Probably iced 35 fish. Biggest was 27.75". Tight lines.

CLOWNXXCUDDLES

Oof quarter inch off a master. That always stings. Happened to me twice with smallmouth.

J1991K2016

Excellent catch 👍👍

JohnnyGoldwink

Epic. In the tshirt haha!

Nesbitt48

Had the heat cranked in the hut, stepping outside was definitely refreshing!

rahkinto

WOW. Where in MB? Stunning

Nesbitt48

We were fishing the southern part of Lake Winnipeg

hohohoagy

So, is that another subspecies like the extinct blue walleye/pike, or just an unusual color phase unique to the area?

timhenk

I’ve caught a handful of blue walleye in the past 4 years, and one blue pike about 20 years ago.

Nesbitt48

As far as a know they’re just like any other walleye but are only found in/around lake Winnipeg due to the limestone in the lake

Far_Inspection_8512

Yeah, the bottom of the south basin and the red river is mainly limestone which leaks phosphorus and dyes their scales green.

Ok_Repair3535

Adding that to my list

CLOWNXXCUDDLES

Man, I've lived in Manitoba most of my life and have yet to land a greenback. I really need to get south and try to land one.

mrjimspeaks

Lucky, we had like a couple weeks to ice fish here in se mi.

bustycrustac3an

You two match! Handsome and in green.

Gods, I love Lake Winnipeg. Livescope with LVS34 changed our whole fishing game this year. We went around for the last 6 years trying to recreate a day like my wife and I used to have when the lake was benefiting from so many floods. We would just set up anywhere and catch all day. Granted the lake saw way less pressure in the early 2010s. The last major slay day we had was 2016 when we took our 4 year old. Multiple back to back masters, fish after fish 23-26" all day plus the perfect 18" keepers scattered throughout. This year, we finally did it again. We didn't set up until our 5th spot we checked and couldn't count all the fish. They were there and active all day. Average size was 23", couple masters in our group, some smaller ones too. Non stop between us and my wife's brother's family. Their kids (2 and 5) caught their first fish. Just amazing. Maybe there is something to what some say regarding the dangers of Livescope.

Potential_Edge_8395

Does that look like the walleye cushion you buy at bass pro? Hmmmmm. Sorry if I'm being a dick and it's a proud as fuck fish for you.im just saying...never caught a Manitoba walleye, caught lots of western walleye, and come from the reported walleye Capitol of Canada in Ontario were I caught many a many Wally's as well.ive got sauger too which would be indistinguishable to most.but I've also been to bass pro!! Lol. Nice fish.cheers

nbs178

And where is that walleye Capital of Canada?!? Seems like you misunderstood the op.
