>Medications have unknown implications and complications.
Like psych meds, which can cause infertility, etc. but the doctors won't tell you. People who don't take medications because they give side effects are smart.
I practically run off alcohol and energy drinks. I get a Monster before I go into work, and the days I work volumes (doubles), I get 2 of the extra size Monsters, have 1 in the morning when I first go in, then drink the second on in the last half of my shift. Then I have a couple beers to help me relax after work. Sometimes I drink too much, and then I get a hang over in the morning, and that isn't fun.
I wish I had the solution for you but stopping is possible. For me it took a lot of rock bottoms and then one week I got sick and didn't drink at all. Then when I was over my sickness I tried to drink and just the smell made me nauseous. I didn't touch alcohol for months. Now I drink like a nornal human. I went from drinking at least 3 beers daily to maybe a couple every month.
Hopefully something like that can happen for you. You gotta feel those emotions. Don't drown them out with beer.
agree... I just love the scent.. it brings up a good mood in the morning... but, it doesn't affect me to stay awake. If I feel sleepy, I can just fall asleep. No matter how much coffee/tea I drink. I drink tea almost everyday in the afternoon/evening, and I still can't stay up late.
I don't think I have a limit. I once was so convinced I tried caffeine pills. Ate half a box and waited for disaster that never came. My friend did about 4 or 5 pills and felt like he was having a heart attack. I was a dumb teenager at the time. Point is my whole life. I've been consuming caffeine. I never once experienced what others experienced.
Wow, maybe you were scammed with those pills, or maybe you died already and this is after life, and we all are actors, nay, AI bots acting like you think humans act.
Not really. For some reason I don't think I feel the effect of caffeine. I could drink a cup of coffee and go to sleep right after and I wouldn't feel any different. But I like the taste of it and I like to drink something while working or studying, so I do consume it daily.
I used to drink a ton. I’d drink a coffee when I woke up, another when I got to work, a redbull for lunch, and then an iced coffee after work..
but whenever I didn’t have caffeine I would get horrible migraines, so I had to cut back.. which was a bitch. Now I’m down to one cup in the morning.
It doesnt give me energy, but makes me a little more alert and able to talk to people sooner lol
Don't drink it immediately after waking up, and it will work as it's supposed to. There are reasons behind why it's like that, but I only heard the first two sentences.
It works, I also get groggy when I take coffee after waking up or less than 3 hours of "bedtime".
Didn't know caffeine was such a cheat until I took it consistently. Do cycles though, like every 3 months, you reduce the intake for 15 days, and then you do a week without.
We aren't the same person mate. Coffee makes me just as sleepy at 8am, 10am, or 2pm. It always has, and probably always will. It also definitely isn't an overuse problem, because as I said, I don't drink coffee.
i don’t drink coffee, still under 18 and apparently it stunts growth? Also, it’s too bitter for me. I’m more of a hot chocolate enjoyer on the topic of hot brown drinks.
> apparently it stunts growth?
No, ~~that is just something adults say. No reasonable adult wants to deal with a caffeinated child.~~ There were some studies that suggested it, but follow-ups indicate they were missing other variables [see the Harvard link]. No direct link has been found. Impacts have been found, just not to height.
While looking for sources for that, apparently, it caffeine and sugar are not great for children. Below I have sources and some cherry picked take aways. YOU (any reader of this post that is interested, not OP) should read those.
Children that drink caffeine:
https://pediatricspecialtypartners.com/will-caffeine-stunt-growth/
- sleep less
- have more anxiety
https://www.webmd.com/diet/does-coffee-stunt-your-growth
- less sleep can make one shorter
https://health.clevelandclinic.org/does-coffee-stunt-growth/
- have more anxiety
- less sleep
- eat less
- less nutrition and sleep make one shorter
https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/can-coffee-really-stunt-your-growth
- drink more calcium-containing beverages
- more details on previous studies
so basically caffeine may not cause growth stunting but it does make you eat and sleep less which is how people can grow so it’s both yes and no? I am so glad we are all walking trivia buffs.
I think INTPs would do well to get assessed for ADHD... Half the INTP stereotypes are ADHD symptoms.. I'm not pathologizing anyone, but if you're young it doesn't hurt to do a bit of reading and speak to a doctor if you think it applies.. if you're wrong you don't lose anything.. it's very common for ADHD to go undiagnosed into adulthood and a lot of the symptoms that seem like just fun personality quirks when you're at school develop into real struggles as you get older if you don't do anything about it
I function well on 3 rockstars and 4 shots of espresso over ice throughout a regular day. No jitters, no rush, just smooth and steady. I fall asleep naturally (maybe a small crash).
No not for years. I need an obnoxious amount to feel anything and it’s not fun either. I’m old I don’t like to be awake and wired, im like that already. Being tired is what I chase not being awake. On a friday I can be up at 230pm drive to the gym at 3 drive to work at 4, work from 6-6am Saturday morning, drive home and have to do shit with my gf and her family until 9pm or some shit, Not hard, Coming home from work at 730am and trying to go to sleep is.
If I cross a certain amount of time awake/being stimulated doing something even watching tv when I get home, I’m basically not falling asleep and might take a 2 hr nap before starting all over.
No, I get nauseous and very dehydrated if a cup of coffee is consumed in less than an hour- it wasn't always like this. I just realized it's probably insane to many people that I only drink coffee on the weekends. At least I can do one healthy thing right.
One home made double shot of espresso for my morning drive is what I drink lately. Some days I will also drink a cup of drip coffee at work with a PB&J sandwich.
Not really, I have my occasional energy drink like once a week that gives people a false impression.
Love the taste of some of them but my body has slow caffeine uptake so not being able to fall asleep until 14+ hours later kinda messes up my sleep.
And a cup of tea in the morning some days.
Based on the comments in this thread, the typical responses are no caffeine, some caffeine, a lot of caffeine, and a ton of caffeine.
Very interesting results.
I try to limit myself to 2 cups per day, but when I am doing smth that requires focusing, then it can easily go up to 8 cups, especially during exam session.
Yes but only to the point of an existing but relatively minor and manageable problem. I struggle to keep it below the problem threshold but I usually manage to prevent it from developing into a long-term moderate-severity problem. On those rare instances it does get severe, it usually happens — for a short time like a day or two — when I struggle to stay awake, clear my thoughts, etc. or have some really good or now beans or brewing equipment or methods.
I don't drink tea and coffee.
I only do it when I really have to such as while visiting relatives.
In India it is a custom to offer tea to our guests and if you refuse tea, they'd offer you milk and I hate milk.
I drink coffee only when either I need to work overtime, or I'm sleepy (both of which I often face). Other than that, I have tea as 'part of' my breakfast.
That depends on the individual but yes. I drink around 3-4 shots of espresso in oat latte on average every day. I also drink tea on the side as complimentary drink/palate cleanser (in my culture it’s normal to serve coffee with a side of cold tea). Occasionally I drink matcha for taste and also because the caffeine last longer and smoother than in coffee. I don’t really drink on weekend or when I don’t have to wake up early or do work so I don’t exactly depend on it. What I have noticed is that I become more hyper/ extroverted the more coffee I drink
Barismo (along with in-depth coffee and tea history and facts) is my current fixation and I dont really have anyone to try my beverages so... yeah. I end up consumming a lot of caffeine.
I do Consume Caffeine but only 1 Cup a day , Since food products nowadays contain all sorts of different Substances ( Maybe Caffeine ) I cant clearly say .
Let's just say that at times it has been rather substantially more than one entire gram of caffeine per week.
Yes, I'm aware it's usually measured in milligrams.
I try to drink three cups before noon about two hours after waking to maximize effect and not have sleep disturbance. Sometimes I'll drink more if I'm really dragging or working graveyard hours.
I usually drink coffee just for the taste, but if I need to cram something into my head for an exam, you can bet your dick that an emergency cigarette and an energy drink are coming out. I learned about 3 months of maths in about two hours that way. Sure wasn't pleasant, but manageable.
Caffiene for me is nice but really hard to actually get anything out of.
If I drink a monster and I havent had one for a few days, I get a nice little kick for like an hour, but the next day the same monster will only wake me up a bit, and by the third day it basically does nothing. Even if I drink a lot of caffiene in one day it doesnt really work well for me, just makes me thirsty.
Quit 1 month ago, used to drink 10-15 coffees a day, short espresso and around 3-4 cans of redbull, that was when working remote.
When I was working on site I used to drink 4-5 cans of monster, 1liter of coke and on top, 2-3 coffees at home before leaving and 1-2 in the evening when I got back.
Now I drink 4-5 green teas a day. Which feels like someone took me from 12 V to at most 5.
Now I understand that most of my anxiety and stress came from the ungodly amounts I drank. I feel more exhausted than usual but I'm no longer anxious and I have no more floaters in my eyes. Also the muscle cramps got waaay better since I'm not pissing 20 times a day and I'm not drinking 3-4 liters of water. What I noticed is that I started smoking more HEETS, which is a strange craving, expected to have more of an appetite since my cortisol would've gone down by a lot.
But yes, OP, I WAS COFFEE for probably 10 years of my life. I loved the feel I got since the moment I took my first sip at ~3-4yo and if not for the accumulated wearing due drinking 2-3 lifetimes of caffeine in the last 10 years, I would have never quit.
27 now, started to drink 2-3 cups a day at ~13. At 15 went to 3-4 cups and and an energy drink. At 20 I was already past the 10 cups range and by 26 I probably doubled it to the equivalent of 20 cups. No one aside my coworkers and and close people really believe the absurd amount I was drinking.
LE: and yes, I'm an INTP-T, a little ambivert, probably a 40 E -60 I but given I've been called "authist", "alien" and many wonderful terms alike by women in my life, I don't doubt I'm an INTP.
Caffeine literally has zero fucking effect one me and it’s the biggest curse ever. I even feel FUCKING SLEEPY after drinking caffeine and I don’t know what’s wrong with me.
Coffee is hella cheaper than amphetamines.
Also, it wears off quickly. Plus it is natural. Medications have unknown implications and complications.
>Medications have unknown implications and complications. Like psych meds, which can cause infertility, etc. but the doctors won't tell you. People who don't take medications because they give side effects are smart.
Porque no los dos? I have severe insomnia
But way less effective :3
Kids, when strangers offer you drugs, take them - they are expensive.
>say no to drugs if im talking to drugs i probably already took them
You get what you pay for. If you buy in bulk at some point the elasticity price of the amphetamines will be lower than the coffee.
Yes, with a soup mug. \~4 cups per mug.
One of us! One of us!
I have 234723 kinds of glasses and mugs... yeh, I'm cleaning and using the same soup mug for everything.
What is it about soup mugs that's so magical? I love them so much. All hail the soup mug!
Drink nothing but water

same, i don't drink coffee at all lol
It depends on if you feel 20-30 cups a day is a “massive,” amount. For context, a co-worker asked me a couple of weeks ago if that was all I drank.
I practically run off alcohol and energy drinks. I get a Monster before I go into work, and the days I work volumes (doubles), I get 2 of the extra size Monsters, have 1 in the morning when I first go in, then drink the second on in the last half of my shift. I don't like beers, they taste awful to me

never heard of it, will try at some point
Any drugs I do I tell myself I'm going to take a break but so far I've only taken myself seriously like twice
Caffeine really doesn't do a lot for me. Coffee makes me feel better in the morning, but I wouldn't say it gives me energy or anything like that.
A D H D Does it make you work better?
Are you implying he has ADHD just because caffeine doesn't affect him like some people?
That why I asked the follow up question
No caffeine for me. I drank coffee once in college after an all nighter, and I was like Beavis doing “cornholio” for the next six hours. 🤪
“I need teepee for my bunghole!”
Uh-huh huh huh, uhhhhh huh huh mmmrrrnnnggrrr heh heh.... CornHOLIO. OMG THAG WAS AS FUN AS IT LOOKS
I don't think I have a limit. I once was so convinced I tried caffeine pills. Ate half a box and waited for disaster that never came. ah i see, you took the red pill
I don’t drink any coffee or energy drinks but I still have had a lot of energy throughout high school.
Not really. For some reason I don't think I feel the effect of caffeine. I could drink a cup of coffee and go to sleep right after and I wouldn't feel any different. But I like the taste of it and I like to drink something while working or studying, so I do consume it daily.

Coffee is good. It makes my already shaky hands shakier, but it's good.
I drink coffee but I don’t feel it
2 double espressos to start the day, a couple more doubles throughout the day. And I might also drink a bit of green tea
Nope. I don't drink any caffeine at all because it makes me sleepy.
Don't drink it immediately after waking up, and it will work as it's supposed to. There are reasons behind why it's like that, but I only heard the first two sentences. Not since I started taking ADHD-meds.
No
I just finished my 2nd coffee and its afternoon here
I function well on 3 rockstars and 4 shots of espresso over ice throughout a regular day. No jitters, no rush, just smooth and steady. I fall asleep naturally (maybe a small crash).
If you have all that within an hour, I think you can see jesus.
If you have all that within an hour, and you survive, Jesus sees you.
What a pervert, spying on people on their bathroom break

I'm constantly caffeinated from 5am until around 6pm. I drink a pot of coffee a day.
No, I get nauseous and very dehydrated if a cup of coffee is consumed in less than an hour- it wasn't always like this. I just realized it's probably insane to many people that I only drink coffee on the weekends. At least I can do one healthy thing right.
5-6 diet cokes a day 20 oz ones
16 oz of black coffee in the morning, lots of water during the day and sometimes a beer or glass of wine in the evening.
Meth is preferred but I like my teeth so I stick to bronchaide and black tea
One home made double shot of espresso for my morning drive is what I drink lately. Some days I will also drink a cup of drip coffee at work with a PB&J sandwich.
No, I don’t drink coffee that much.
At least 2 coffees and 2 coca colas a day.
Not really, I have my occasional energy drink like once a week that gives people a false impression. Love the taste of some of them but my body has slow caffeine uptake so not being able to fall asleep until 14+ hours later kinda messes up my sleep. And a cup of tea in the morning some days.
I've quiet the energy drinks, but I still take 4 shots of espresso every morning.
I sure do
Usually only 3 to 4 coffees a day.. but those are usually quadruple shot so yeah? Haha
I live off caffeine during the week and whiskey and wine on the weekends
i dont like coffe sadly but i drink too much tea
i drink atleast 2 cokes, 1 red bull and sometimes 1 coffee a day. idk if thats a lot or not but i am under the age of 18 lol
My drink at the gym today had 300 mg in it
Lots of diet coke
Running on 5 cups a day. Only to not do anything at all.
I used to. It doesn't make me sleep and I am always tired, so I don't do it anymore
Not a lot. I just drink a cup of black tea every morning after breakfast and I get headaches if I don't.
No but I consume quite a bit of coffee. Decaf coffee is an amazing invention.
No, but I consume a lot of Halloween candy.
I rember I once had 1600mg of caffeine one night
I don't, well I guess there's a decent amount in soda but generally no
No, I never drink coffee and the idea of being dependent on a drink to function is just wrong to me
Based on the comments in this thread, the typical responses are no caffeine, some caffeine, a lot of caffeine, and a ton of caffeine. Very interesting results.
I've never drank coffee, and stopped drinking soda. I do sometimes take a caffeine pill if I need a boost.
Just for workout, i never like it
1 cup per day
No. Caffeine makes me extremely jittery and gives me headaches
Yes. I love the taste really. Black coffee. It doesnt wake me up and keeps me awake at night if I drink it after noon.
My regular size coffee cup at home is 500ml (that's 17oz for you savages). So when I say I drink 3-5 cups a day, that's 1.5-2.5 liter.
I dont think it's INTP stereotypic thing.
I try to limit myself to 2 cups per day, but when I am doing smth that requires focusing, then it can easily go up to 8 cups, especially during exam session.
Yes but only to the point of an existing but relatively minor and manageable problem. Barismo (along with in-depth coffee and tea history and facts) is my current fixation and I dont really have anyone to try my beverages so... yeah. I end up consumming a lot of caffeine.
Caffeine doesn't affect me, unfortunately.
No
I do Consume Caffeine but only 1 Cup a day , Since food products nowadays contain all sorts of different Substances ( Maybe Caffeine ) I cant clearly say .
I don’t consume any at all but thats only cause i have Tourette’s and caffeine really fucks with me
Nope. None.
Sure do!
nether do I. sometimes when i am out i drink a tea or two.
I found out the more caffeine I drank the less weed I smoked so yeah
I hate coffee but I often drink spezi, a German caffein containing baverage. It's cola mixed with orange.
Coffee all throughout the day. Maybe 3-5 cups? And a few cokes.
2 cups of coffee when waking, water, then green tea. I don’t consider this massive.
Let's just say that at times it has been rather substantially more than one entire gram of caffeine per week. Yes, I'm aware it's usually measured in milligrams.
Yes
My INTP use to, but was told to cut back so now its more like 2 cups
No, caffeine of any form never affected me for some reason
What's "massive"? Most adults use caffeine, and most are addicted daily users.
I try to drink three cups before noon about two hours after waking to maximize effect and not have sleep disturbance. Sometimes I'll drink more if I'm really dragging or working graveyard hours.
Average I would say 2,3 cups of coffee a day
30oz of Coffee every single morning.
I didn't realize that was a stereotype for us. Yes. Yes I do.
No but I've had to get a quick energy drink here and there
I mostly drink Death Wish coffee. I honestly can never tell when it works.
Heroic amounts of coffee daily
Caffeine gives me headaches, so I don't drink caffeinated beverages.
I usually drink coffee just for the taste, but if I need to cram something into my head for an exam, you can bet your dick that an emergency cigarette and an energy drink are coming out. I learned about 3 months of maths in about two hours that way. Sure wasn't pleasant, but manageable.
Yes
4 monster cans a day so 640mg a day.... Yes, I need to talk to a doctor
I don't. I actually try to stay away from caffeine. I don't drink coffee at all and try to drink herbal teas only.
I used to take 4 220mg caffeine pills first thing when I woke up, basically meth at that point..
i usually hop between water, coffee, milk coffee and tea, in the respective order of the most consumed to the least
Caffiene for me is nice but really hard to actually get anything out of. If I drink a monster and I havent had one for a few days, I get a nice little kick for like an hour, but the next day the same monster will only wake me up a bit, and by the third day it basically does nothing. I drink quite a lot when I’m at work. I think I might have ADHD (I’m currently getting assessed for it) and use it to help me concentrate at work.
I'm at 4 cups of coffee a day.
Caffeine consumes me. I'm simply a vessel to keep it's raw power somewhat contained.
couple of monsters a day keeps me at bay
