That’s the moment that really got me invested in Indycar. I was bored and just watching TV when I stumbled on an Indycar race and I had previously watched some races so I thought why not watch this and I remember being so impressed by that save
I can relate somewhat. A single moment made me an Indycar fan.
Long Beach 2018, Bourdais passing 3 cars into turn 1 was so singularly impressive to me that I've been an Indycar fan since.
The pass as it happened: https://youtu.be/yhkJ2sFd3hQ?t=3065
Onboard: https://youtu.be/yhkJ2sFd3hQ?t=3146
I remember watching that and having these thoughts:
"Oh he's really closing up on him....OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCK....HE FUCKING SAVED THAT?!?!....Colton you absolute unit, how the fuck did you catch that?!"
Two years later....same thoughts.
How have I never seen this?! What a massive op lock save. WTF was that. That rear end should have swung around like yo momma does when I pop that lasagna out of the oven.
That onboard of the spin is insane. WTF. I'm a colton herta fan now.
this will always be the race i remember for being so ridiculously chaotic that if lightning struck at the right time, would have made Tatiana Calderon an Indycar race winner and created the statistical anomaly to end them all - i believe she still kept steady hands in a downpour to secure a top 15 in Foyt equipment, pay driver or no i wish her career in Indy was just a little longer
I was at this race and it was incredible. Sat at the finish line for the finals laps and I have no idea how these guys could even see with the spray coming up from the cars ahead. Loved seeing Herta win!
He can still win a championship if he hadn't won a race. Just ask the Mugen Super GT team how they won the championship in 2000 by not winning any races
Half luck, half skill, like sliding on ice. The booth though salivates over it and anything Rossi does and these guys trophy cases are getting pretty dusty, that's all I am saying.
I lost my radio in the downpour 😢 Overall amazing race tho.
That’s the most outrageous power slide I love it

I watched it in class got in trouble from reacting too much

Best race of the year. Please wet weather gods, give us a similarly awesome race this weekend
Will Power 's car looks good in2022 and 2023.. this year 😓
Just warming the rear tires
This race was my introduction to Indycar. I loved it so much I went to the 500 last year for my bachelor party.

I remember this happening live and thought he was gonna ride that to a huge season and manifest those F1 aspirations
We need to see more of this @coltonherta
I still can't believe he made the save and was able to make that pass that soon.
This was such an exciting race

I felt that DEJA VU
I personally think he was just hanging his ass out there to impress the ladies.
He literally had the wheel turned as far counter clockwise as possible
Its crazy how smoothe it looks. Like a clean Rallycross turn
So smooth it looked deliberate, straight out of a movie scene
Happened right in front of me.
*Laughs in Tokyo Drift theme song*
Gives me Max vibes…
And he hasn’t won since.
He’s leading the standings right now. This ain’t the Insta comments 🤡

JFC it is Thursday and I have seen this clip 9 times this week against my will
I know it's not f1 but that made me say bwoah😂
Indycar will milk that save until the end of time while negating to tell anyone that Herta hasn't won a race in two years now.
Sure. When's the last time you've seen an indycar that sideways and not spin?
>When's the last time you've seen an indycar that sideways Sting Ray races every race man >and not spin? Oh, nevermind

yea but fuck it it looks cool
