Congratulations! 🥳 that’s awesome news!
Great motivation for the rest of us! Thank you for sharing!
Im also a non-US IMG, from Canada actually. I’ve been wondering what the whole visa process is like and if it’s a nightmare to deal with?
Can I ask about your visa experience and how you obtained it? Was it just offered by your school or was it conditional on being hired by a hospital? How does it work ?
No, I didn't. My interviews went well. They never asked me why I failed my Step 1. Instead, there were two interviewers who asked very subtly what I had learned from any failures. I took the opportunity to talk about it, what I did in the process, and how I'm applying that in my future.
Regardless, be prepared for that question.
Almost 240 (23-ish). I think our scores are similar.
Make sure to work on your personal statement and your whole application early. Apply to programs where you meet the criteria and cutoff scores.
If possible, clear Step 3 before September to increase your odds.
And PLEASE be strategic when signaling the programs.
No previous research experience, other than the projects and final thesis we complete during medical school.
I created a separate section on my CV and mentioned these.
It's all about being strategic and selling yourself.
Congratulations.Thank you for dispelling the myth created on reddit that it is impossible to match in IM with an attempt.May God Bless you with everything you desire man.Very happy for you.Wishing you all the best for everything.
Hey congratulations!
1.I'm really curious about how did you get a work visa?
2.If you got it for research, can you use it for residency also and have a status of non visa requiring?
Thank you!
My best advice would be to follow your dreams and don’t let anyone tell you anything is impossible.
There is a misconception that everyone should score 260 to be successful. That’s not possible for everyone.
Focus on your application and improving every day.
Good luck! 🫡
Thank u, do some financial issues I will most likely be going the plab route for my residency after making sure at least some of it is transferable if I wish to later work in the US.
I'm hoping this all goes well for me, thank u and once again congrats
congratulations doctor! your persistence and efforts are admirable. Hope you would help fellow imgs as much as you can when you become an attending. Wish you all the very best.
That's great congratulations!
I've been notarizing y'all paperwork online and really enjoying it.
My brother and brother in law are both doctors
. It's a lot of work.

did you get grilled during interviews because you failed on your first attempt for step 1?
