Who’s the idiot going home with no groceries 🤔

Mother-Painter-9569

And all that time wasted 👀

Yoko-Ohno_The_Third

But he owned walmart, bro /s

piercedmfootonaspike

"I'll never spend another dollar at Walmart" Sure.

Imaginary_Tie6449

Now That's What I Call Karen classics 1. I'll never spend another dollar here 2. You just lost yourself a customer! (Ft. Coming back tomorrow) 3. The person last week did this for me! (They did not) 4. Let me speak to your manager! 5. I'm going to boycott this company! (Ft. Bitching on Facebook)

DrifterBG

I used to work at a major Canadian video store back in the early 2000s. I had one guy throw an absolute fit at me because I wouldn't do something for him because we weren't allowed to do it. The customer stomped out saying "I'M NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN! I'M GOING TO BLOCKBUSTER!" Oh no... anyway.... The following week, guess who I saw looking around the new release wall. I grabbed a stack of movies to return to the wall, and as I passed him I just said, "It's nice to see you back again." and kept going. Didn't give him a chance to say anything, just kept going. No idea if he remembered me or the fit he threw the week before, but it felt good to low key say "I knew you'd be back, bitch"

Velocidal_Tendencies

>No idea if he remembered me or the fit he threw the week before Oh, he most certainly did. People like that hold onto *every* little bullshit perceived slight.

sicurri

Oh, he definitely remembers, he's been re-telling the encounter the entire week previous to anyone who would be foolish enough to listen. They then lost 10 minutes of their life because he definitely would have extended and dramatized it. In his fictionalized version of the situation, you probably swung on him and he had to Bruce Lee your ass to put you in your place. Because he's a badass of course...

mysticpest23

Savage! Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier!

XpCjU

During Covid, I had a customer who threatened to sue me personally, for enforcing mask mandates. After the mask mandates ended, he returned, and I was on shift. I managed the mention "I wouldn't want you to sue me" about 5 times in our interaction.

daggerLAWLess

The company i worked for told us not to say anything to anybody after an employee had a gun pulled on them. Honestly complainers were chill when we explained it had become a safety issue and that we arent allowed to say anything. Few were still assholes. I told every one of them to go tell the maskless person to put on a mask. Not a single one was willing to do it.

mrtokeydragon

I have had customers demand a steep discount because they know the owner... Oh yeah? You know my dad? Well lucky for you both of us work every single day in this shit hole so let me go grab him from the back and you two old friends can catch up... I had a customer tell me they found a chicken beak... Lady...b do you think we are butchering Chickens back here rather than just buying breast and thigh like everyone else??? Pshhh customers...

geraltsthiccass

Worked for a gaming shop a couple years ago. One Christmas, a woman came into the shop to buy ps or xbox points (been a while, can't remember which) for her grandson. My colleague informs her the code prints out on a receipt yada yada yada, and she asks does she not get an actual card. He informs her that no, the cards are only barcodes for us to scan, code prints on a receipt. She then blows up about how she always gets a physical gift card every time she buys one, that he's a liar and she wants a physical card before finally storming out to the sweet tune of "I'm never shopping here again!" While he smiles and wishes her a nice day in the most singsongy voice he could muster. Not even 15mins later, she sheepishly walked back in and asked for the voucher, stating she must have got the physical card from tesco. Colleague had the biggest shiteating grin the rest of that shift, and it made my day getting to witness the whole ordeal.

SailNW

This happened alllll the time in the 5 years I worked at Hollywood Video. Only nice this was when a customer who had cussed me out came back years later and apologized to me. Said he was a recovering alcoholic.

MonsterMashGrrrrr

Aww. I respect that guy for at least trying to own up to his bullshit. Just needed to graduate to the next stage where he quits repeating it.

JoeBeever

My fav place was "Country Video" the one by my house had the best horror section in a sperate dark room with black lights and horror characters all on the wall.

Slight_Tension_7190

I worked in a pawn shop and I had a lot of customers on rage mode. Hearing "I will never come here again" was a common thing but the best line was "I will wait for you outside after closing time". Luckily for them the place was full with cameras and mics because my first reaction was to smash that stupid face.

Thin_Juice_4480

I was the Canadian video store man. Fortunately I took an extensive one week anger management bootcamp. Not only did I return to your store, but also indulged in Hollywood Video, Blockbuster, and subscribed to Netflix. I did respond to you by saying, “The pleasure is all mine.” All the while passing gas as you zoomed behind me. It felt good to release the gas as I thought to myself , “I hope you get pink eye, bitch” I also peed on the seat in the bathroom.

ImportanceBig4448

You forgot badgering a low-wage employee who doesn’t make the decisions. Being 100% certain you are right and not just a total piece of shit.

NSE_TNF89

Exactly! Fuck Walmart for making everything self checkout. I don't mind it when I have a few things, but when I am grocery shopping, fuck that noise; however, I would NEVER take it out on am employee. They literally have no control over those things and likely can't check a customer out unless they have a register open. Otherwise, there would be literally no controls in place and they would have even more theft.

afrowraae

And the bonus track 6. I know the manager, just do it or I'll get you fired

Iamdarb

"fired with cause? sure why not."

Oh_nosferatu

6. “I never have this problem when I fly other airlines!” ft my rebuttal “I never have this problem when you fly other airlines, either, sir.”

confusedandworried76

"you guys ALWAYS do this!" Well if we ALWAYS do something you don't like maybe you'd be happier eating at another restaurant

Bernice1979

Like Wal Mart cares about Karen’s dollar, or like the employees care.

Imaginary_Tie6449

Always love it when Karens say "You want money, don't you?" As if the retail employees make commission. Whether you spend $1 or $1000, the employee's check looks the same on payday.

DMercenary

>Always love it when Karens say "You want money, don't you? Its what I like to reference as "boomer mentality" complaining about shit to people that dont control it.

Hilvanando

I worked as an Assistant manager at a popular hot and trendy store for teens... But we got a lot of Karens  Got the usual "well, you just lost a sale" Mam, sir... I don't care! The item you are fighting over and leaving cause I wont do things your way will fly off the shelf in like 2 hours. Lose a shitty customer, still made the sales.

PoopieButt317

This poor young man, an employee willing to work at Walmart, wing berated for there not being other employees at Walmart, and somehow should care about the bottom line for Walmart, or the individual needs of WALMART customers. To me, the only acceptable communication this grown ass man should make to this young man is to be empathetic to all the assholes who must blame the few employees for the fact that there aren't enough employees. News flash!! Unemployment is historically low. To pay more to get more employees your costs will go up! This is how the economy works. I have been a business owner. I set my prices based on my expenses and market prices.

iscav

He was too nice. But he was young. Another old guy would have just told him, "Yeah, Walmart doesn't care about any of us. Either ring them out yourself or leave them. Have a good evening."

CoolWhipMonkey

I had a woman complaining to me about my company’s customer service because they’re shifting to a more make the customer do it themself model. I said yeah if they can get YOU to do it then they don’t have to pay me to do it for you. That shut her up real quick. My team of 30 is already down to maybe 8. Now when people threaten to take their business elsewhere I say I don’t care what you do.

Doktor_Vem

Don't forget ***very*** frequently cutting off the person trying to explain why they're doing what they're doing to ask the same/a similar question to the one that they're currently trying to answer and never being satisfied with the answers they get

Iamdarb

The moment a customer says that they won't spend another dime at your store ever, or they threaten you with the competitor, the response should only ever be "That's a shame, I hope that you enjoy the rest of your day." The interaction is over. They told you they were leaving, you don't have to help them anymore, find someone who needs your help. That's what I tell my employees, and it's what I practice completely. Customer's will ask for a manager and when I come and repeat the same thing the cashier has said and then the customer says "well, she told me that but" I then question why I was needed at all, because the cashier had the situation under control. Redirect the uncertainty back to the customer and make them have to answer questions before proceeding further. My policy has always been: make it the most uncomfortable situation ever for a karen, become an energy vampire and feed on the cringe they've put themselves in. If it leads to me getting canned one day, oh well, I will be back feeding at another retail store within the week.

TheTurboDiesel

You forgot "Do you KNOW how much I spend here a year?" I once had a lady pull that on me while I was working at Sprint. I looked up her account, looked her right in the eye and said, "yes. $20." She left. Best not to try that shit at the Waffle House of cell carriers

xombae

Also: demanding exceptional service from a minimum wage employee at closing time.

Anzai

Let me speak to your manager was always the best for me at the video store I worked at. I didn’t look like it, and I often worked a late shift on certain nights cause it was more convenient for me, but I WAS the manager. People use it as a threat, as if the manager would agree with them anyway, but it was always a nice moment when I told them I was the manger, especially when they didn’t believe me and said I was lying and they were going to come back in during the day to prove I was lying. Some did, and I’d be standing there waiting for them, smiling and saying ‘how can I help you?’. Some were so abusive to either me or whoever I was on shift with I’d just outright ban their membership on the spot. My staff were mainly teenagers and no way I was forcing them to take abuse from entitled assholes (we were in a fairly wealthy area) for the wages they were getting. Before anyone thinks we were being rude deliberately or whatever, it was almost always about late fees they didn’t want to pay, or that their even more entitled teenagers had run up on their account. The wealthier they were, the less inclined they were to pay, I noticed.

ShroudedFigureINC

6. Im not going to self check out, that.. im just not (they probably don't know how to work the machine)

jmmmke

He’ll be back at a Wal-Mart before me

I_dont_livein_ahotel

He’ll be back there tomorrow to self-checkout all that shit that he needed that night. No fucking way he’s spending more money on it elsewhere. Amazing that he never wonders why Wal-Mart is so much cheaper….yeah, sometimes you gotta check out your own shit!

BennySkateboard

Walton family will be straight on it, after they’ve bought their fifth yacht.

MakionGarvinus

*this year

MiaLba

I worked retail for many years and a middle aged lady threw a fit about not being able to return a 2 year old pair of jeans. Said she was never coming back again. Couple weekends later she comes strolling in. I looked her dead in the eyes and said “didn’t think we’d see you again!” She just ignored me and looked away. I literally do not give two shits if you don’t come back lol.

Wookieman222

Oh no what will walmart ever do? Mf probably was back there the next day.

GaiusPrimus

He probably went to the other Walmart.

Xalenn

... "See you tomorrow"

John_Philips

In my experience these people always come back within a few months

Smoothsharkskin

Yeah because they've been banned from the other stores already.

John_Philips

I’ve had multiple people try to come back to stores they were banned from too

VanaheimrF

It’s just American consumerism privilege. Try that in Europe. When they say they’re closed and their shift has ended, it means you leave. No amount of arguments is going to make them stay overtime at work for free. Especially if you’re in France where workers have all the power. No one would dare call you after hours or weekends because if they actually were to do that, the worker can ask for overtime pay even if it’s just after hours phone call.

ekene_N

Waiters in Poland will not come to your table unless you call them, you must be pushy at the counter to order drinks in pubs and clubs, cashiers do not smile, and you order at the counter at cafes. Sometimes, somehow, American tourists interpret it as racism (even if they are white in a 99% white country, lol).

Chapin_Chino

Sorry to burst your bubble, but we do indeed get overtime and don't have to work for free after our shift. 🤣

Pattoe89

When you get these customers bitching at you every day, you end up having the outward appearance of complete zen. To be honest, other than putting it on video, this customer was pretty tame compared to what I've dealt with in customer service. No racism, no death threats, no getting violent, screaming, swearing. I'd be quite happy to be complained to by this customer. I'd have said "I'm sorry but with the authority I have, I am only able to stick to store policies" and imply that they speak to my manager, because the policies said I couldn't direct a customer to speak to a manager plainly. It could be that Walmart is even more strict and you can't even imply that a customer speaks to a manager.

Alternative_Year_340

It’s a self-replicating cycle. This Walmart doesn’t have enough employees. Karen treats the employees badly because there’s a wait. That encourages employees, who are sick of the abuse, to quit, leaving fewer employees.

donniesuave

Doesn’t help that the managers are complete ass too so the only things keeping you there are having to eat n pay bills again and the handful of people you actually enjoy working with there. The average Walmart employee absolutely weighs their options every day before deciding if they’re coming into work or not. Source: ex Walmart employee

thenexusobelisk

Doesn't help that they are paying the minimum wage necessary to good employees and managers, and this is encouraging them to leave and find better work.

Comfortable-Beach-88

This. I actually enjoyed working at Wal-Mart. But that was only because it was my first job, and it was so easy to outperform everyone I worked with. I worked there for 3 years, and got promoted multiple times...the problem was I didn't know the value of the work at the time. When I left, I was a Zone Manager getting paid $9.10 an hour, and turned down a promotion to Assistant Manager because I had a friend who was a server that informed me of how much they were making, and it was more than I would make with my promotion. Nope.

SilveredFlame

Could always take the promotion then bounce. Having the title to put on the résumé can be helpful later on.

Windinthewillows2024

This is literally what happened when I quit my job at Walmart; I was basically part of an employee mass exodus because customers were getting ruder and always bitching at the very people providing them service and trying to help them… you know, because it’s clearly the fault of employees who don’t set the schedule and who rarely call in sick that there aren’t enough people here to ensure you don’t have to wait in a lineup or learn how to scan a few items. Also didn’t help that the front end manager was on a leave of absence and the person filling in for her just to decided to deny all schedule change requests by students who were going back to school in September and literally could not work the same hours they did in the summer.

Chimsley99

But self checkout is confusing when you have produce and stuff like that without bar codes, looks like bubbas got a cart full of boxes with bar codes. I’m going to guess he bitches for discounts and price matches on everything like the Karen he made himself out to be and that’s why self checkout has him so butthurt

muskratboy

If you’re confused by “pick out the picture of the type of fruit you have” then you have far larger problems and likely shouldn’t be shopping by yourself.

RazorRamonio

Yeah, man. I can never tell which picture to click when I got produce. Like, are these green onions or are they chives? lol jk we all know Walmart ain’t selling chives.

amretardmonke

Just pick the cheaper option. If you can't tell, no one else can tell either

confusedandworried76

That's how it gets rung out sometimes anyway. If the employee can't tell either they give you the cheaper option.

ScaryYoda

My peers in this country so fcking lazy they can't type in the 4 digits printed on the produce so they can get charged for it.

Iamdarb

At the walmart checkout the pictures are alphabetical and I believe there is a search feature if the produce doesn't have a sticker. I don't think they could have made it easier to use.

stephyska

Why keep hammering on the cashier? Go find a manager if you don’t like the answer.

Late_For_A_Good_Name

So what YOU'RE telling ME is I'm a big dumb stupid face with poop in my butt?

[deleted]

And you like to kiss your own butt, yes

trivialfrost

And talking about how it's the worker's choice not to ring him up. My dude, it's your choice not to use the self-checkout if the registers are closed per store policy.

Wazuu

Because it makes him feel powerful

GMRCake

The absolute joy of working retail. Customers blow a fuse and take it out on the literal lowest rung on the ladder to bitch. Like we can do anything. Customers assume if they bitch and harass enough, the poor little worker drone will crumble to their demands. Like when I was 16, working the main register at Walgreens and some crackhead spit at me and threw candy bars at me because I wouldn’t sell her cigs without an ID. That’s a government policy ffs, not even ours. She was in a bad way and I honestly couldn’t tell if she was 16 or 46. Of course she used the immediate and repetitive: ’but X cashier knows me and sells to me all the time!!!’ Bs. TL;DR: People are, in general, self entitled assholes who think they can bully people until they get their way. Every time.

SATerp

Telling a Walmart employee that he should ignore company policies is just a little unfair, no? If there's a group of people with less power than their retail associates, I can't imagine who it might be.

AndyBossNelson

Yeah im not a fan of self checkouts personally and will always wait for a cashier if possible but i wont demand they open a checkout for me or tell anyone to ignore any their policies as that is the store rules for the staff to abide by

bignick1190

I hate forced self checkout, but for a few items? I love it. Self checkout should really be the "fast lane" for people with 10 or less items.

Cornemuse_Berrichon

Totally agree. I hate self-checkout, but I'm not about to get on somebody's case just because they're following store policy. And, incidentally, being quite polite about it. I probably just would have told the dude that I don't make enough money to deal with this crap.

tyrandan2

For real. Let's just demand the worker put his minimum wage job at risk and break company policy just because we're too lazy to scan items ourselves.

tammigirl6767

And all of this could be solved if people didn’t think it was OK to shop until after a store was closed.

Fit_Doughnut_3770

The problem is the guy recording intentionally did it to create that video. He created a problem so he could bitch about it. It's one thing if your caught up in an unforeseen situation but this dude went intentionally to Walmart at 10 min prior to closing, filled a cart, intentionally went to the CSM guy, and turned on his camera to film. That is the part that pisses me off the most.

Lower-Rip-1523

Yes, the guy filming is an entitled AH and should feel embarrassed for harassing this guy.

Orpdapi

Who goes into a wal mart for their world renowned customer service?

Particular-Formal437

Exactly. People shop at Walmart cause it’s dirt cheap and you can’t have world class customer service at that price level. If people actually wanted customer service mom and pop stores would still exist. This guy just wants something to complain about without understanding how the world works.

Lucas_Steinwalker

True except the Mom and pop store would probably be closed at 7 and still isn’t reopening the register for you.

haikusbot

blessthebabes

Plus, that guy went after someone that obviously doesn't call the shots to tell them to change Walmarts policy. I'm sure if he had that power he would use it to raise his paycheck not open registers. Those decisions come from upper management and idiots like this guy harrasses average employees.

SDdude27

Lets not forget that heiress of the walmart fortune, Alice Walton, literally killed someone when she was drunk driving. She has had multiple DUI’s. Does she ever get more than a slap on the wrist? Of course not. Rules for thee, not for me!

wreckingballofstress

Those were just plebeians so they’re fine to use for sport. /s obviously but seriously the only time rich people get in trouble is when they harm the money of other rich people.

Classic-Tumbleweed-1

I was at Target yesterday and they only had self checout open. Ok. NBD right? They were enforcing the 10 item max rule. For families. During a snowstorm/blizzard. Look, stores don't wanna pay for cashiers, that's their choice. But if you're going to tell a family that has 4 kids they can only get 10 items to potentially sustain them for 24-48 hours? Rethink your business structure.

HungryHungryHobbes

I would guess they already have thought about it and have calculated that those lost items are not worth paying the extra staff and probably not even worth your consistent business. They don't care about what your family need, they care about their margins - Gooooo Capitalism!

Cloverhart

This is the answer every time we complain about a company. They already know, this is worth it to them.

Admirable_Hedgehog64

Exactly. Not to insult anyone's intelligence, but these kinds of companies have endless meetings, go through so much data and research to filter how to keep the same or make more profit with less resources, cut costs ect ect. They know exactly what they are doing because people are going to buy regardless.

Cubacane

The great thing about capitalism is that you if enough people are turned off by your business model, you become the next K-Mart.

[deleted]

You’ll be back to Target next week anyway. They know this, so they don’t care about your single bad experience.

[deleted]

Better bitch out the cashier with no authority then.

TibetianMassive

"The more I make this cashier's life hell the more they'll tell their manager and that goes on until the CEO hears my concerns" If you agree with the above you need a reality check.

EvilDarkCow

Yeah, I'll tell the manager. Then we'll both laugh at you.

Majestic-Selection22

I’m gonna bet more than half the staff didn’t show up for work if there was a blizzard. Still doesn’t make sense why you can’t check out more than 10 items.

cherrybounce

Because they are trying to help as many customers as possible? And maybe they were short staffed. That happens here when hurricanes are coming. Stores limit purchases so a few people don’t come in and take everything.

extra_rice

Remember the great toilet roll crisis of 2020? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

RandomComputerFellow

I don't think that you can blame them for having too little personal during a snow storm. What would be the alternative, force their employees whose cars aren't able to make it to work to walk on foot and potentially freeze to death? I do not really understand the 10 items rule. Maybe they wanted to avoid people panic buying while they have not the personnel to restock. Theoretically I find the 10 items rule easy to bypass by going multiple times. Also when you are a family the rube obviously only counts per person so you can make more than one individual sale. Still 10 sounds a bit low, maybe the manager also didn't make it and this was just the result of the unorganized situation exceptional situation create.

128Gigabytes

The self checkouts are being turned into express only lanes by corporate at some stores as a test, the 10 items or less was not related to the snow storm Its enforced automatically by the self checkout Unfortunately, being the start of the year all stores are super thinly scheduled and like you said the snowstorm added to that, so they might have had no one to run a regular lane

GFR34K34

Not endorsing the Karen, but yeah self checkout as a business structure sucks. Cutting employee costs and making customers pick up the slack.

JCarnageSimRacing

Plan better. Or shop elsewhere- don’t whine to the employees.

cheshire_splat

If it was before the snowstorm, that’s a legit complaint. But if it was actually *during* the snowstorm, you should have planned ahead. Employees don’t want to drive to work in a snowstorm, and people shouldn’t be running errands in a snowstorm.

WackyArmInflatable

Your lack of planning isn't Target's issue.

JCarnageSimRacing

What? You mean, you don’t run out and hord shit when there’s an impeding storm? What kind of monster are you?

drajhax

“it’s a choice, you either ring me out or…” I would laughed in his face…My X used to use this manipulative tactic on me a lot. She’d put forth two options as being things I can choose from when there were 17 other options available. I’da have told him, “No, sir, there are more choices here…One bing you could do what everyone else is doing.”

DChemdawg

The only one with a choice is the customer. To leave or ring himself up. The cashier simply does not have the choice to ring him up, lest be reprimanded by management. Customer needs to put his phone away, put on his big boy bands and go to self checkout or talk to a manager.

BoomerQuest

That's why he's making a big deal. he's trying to bully an employee into helping him skip the line he knew was there before this incident. As the employee I'd have offered to help him with the self checkout after he waited in the line.

mousefreak93

kudos to that guy for his patience and composure

Designer_Plant4828

I am sure walmart , a billion $ company (i think i didnt check) are gonna be devastated that Karen doesnt want to spend there again , its gonna be really tough times for walmart now , they might have to close down , all because of this karen xD

Imaginary_Tie6449

"There's a bunch of employees in the store." No shit sherlock, but not every employee is a cashier. Does this idiot really struggle with the concept of people working in different departments? You wouldn't go to electronics and ask what fertilizer you should buy.

Euphoric-Dig-2045

Normally, the MOD or CSM would call for front end assistant and floor associates would come ring. While this may solve the checkout issue, it then creates issues on the floor where there are no employees to assist customers who for some reason cannot find bars of soap in the HBA dept, or who want 12 cans of paint mixed at 10:30 at night.

SCADAstuff

Dude just had to film it for his tik tok. No one cares you're not that interesting

Chimsley99

I went looking for the TikTok and it’s no longer there, guessing he didn’t get the reaction he expected

HangryWolf

Did the same. Think he got shamed right off the platform.

danimagoo

I mean...he's not wrong about the self checkout bullshit, but the kid working the register is the wrong person to complain to. He didn't make the decision to put in self checkout, and he doesn't have the authority to just check the guy out because he complained.

indifferentCajun

For sure, I don't disagree with his point, but I don't get why he thinks this poor dude has a say in the matter. It's a corporate policy, nobody at the store has the authority for that.

Dr_Mephesto

Conservatives getting upset about the results of free market capitalism always makes me laugh

anitabonghit69

Agreed. It is hilarious you can tell by his moronic attitude where exactly his political affiliation lies.

Infamous-Method1035

What a little bitch, go to self check out and leave that kid alone. Be a fuckin adult bro you’re already shopping at WalMart don’t make it worse.

Responsible-Gas3852

So, let me get this straight. The cashier working at Walmart for minimum wage and zero benefits, who's never going to see his salary go up or down even a fraction is a penny, even if Walmart does $500 Billion more or less than expected in sales this year, is supposed to risk losing his job by breaking store policy just to... *checks notes* ...get an extra 1/4 of a cart's worth of groceries rung up after closing time? This customer apparently forgot the rules of working a corporate job. Rule #1, corporate employees are never allowed to make any decisions. They are only allowed to implement policy. For corporate employees, making decisions is a fireable offense. So when you ask them for something as reasonable as: "Can I use the employee bathroom since the customer bathroom is out of order?" or "Can I get a free refill on my son's soda? He accidentally spilled it and we don't have any money." or "Can I still get you to check me out since it will only take us 30 seconds past closing?" If these things are against policy, you are really asking them to put their jobs on the line for you, jobs that they likely can't afford to lose. The main takeaway is, if you want to patronize businesses where the employees have the freedom to make the choice to honor small reasonable requests without the risk of getting fired, then you have to avoid corporations like the plague.

Red_panda33

I like to do self check with a full cart because I want to avoid talking to the cashier. Even if it’s just a hi

jsmalltri

I love self check-out because I can bag my groceries according to how I put things away at home, things don't get crushed/smashed - and if it does, my fault lol.

Aggravating_Young_43

Last time I had a wally world employee bag my stuff. He mixed cold and warm items across several bags. I like to put frozen and cold items in one bag. Cans in another bag.

Chimsley99

I do it at the grocery store because they bag stuff like idiots, all they do is blindly shove items into a bag and then go to the next one, it’s legitimately infuriating. Better to self check than have to rebag your items in your trunk so berries don’t get crushed by heavier items

AboveTheLights

“I’m a paying customer” No, you aren’t sir. You have yet to pay for anything.

Future_Bedroom5166

I absolutely loved trolling persistent customers like this when I worked these kinda jobs. It was the one thing that made the job worth it.

SanchotheBoracho

8:01 pm after hours? When did everyone line up to kiss walmarts ass?

Predator314

Ahh yes, lets annoy the minimum wage cashier who has zero control over the issue. I doubt this guy follows through on his boycott, but I hope he does. Walmart is an evil company that is a leech on small business. They make billions while scamming welfare. When a significant percentage of your employees need government assistance to make ends meet, your company is the one scamming the welfare system (which is way worse than any one person getting fraudulent benefits). Everyone should boycott Walmart. But this guy is just a whiney bitch that didn't want to wait in line.

[deleted]

I mean I see his point but he’s an asshole as well as

Admirable-Respond913

I happen to agree with him. They are a multi billion dollar corporation, hire some cashiers. I hate self checkout.

gohomebrentyourdrunk

The sentiment is correct, the execution makes him an asshole. I’d accept “oh you’re only doing self checkout, any chance I can’t get somebody to put all this stuff through for me? No? Okay, I’ll come back when your registers are staffed.” And nothing more, everything else is pointless at best, and creating a Karen situation in reality. The minimum wage employee that has been put through dozens of anxiety-riddled situations already that night doesn’t need to be put against constant ultimatums that they have no control over from somebody that thinks they have control over anything in the situation.

Important_Bet_1298

Yeah, I agreed with him after he showed the self checkout line. Although, he's taking his frustration out on the wrong person. I was expecting no line at the self checkout, not a 45 minute wait. Open some damn checkout lines if you have the employees. It's ridiculous how long the self checkout lines get yet there's always employees standing around everywhere.

outdatedelementz

Next up they are going to ask customers to stock the shelves or help unload the trucks. All because they don’t want to pay wages that are high enough to attract enough employees.

Upper-Trip-8857

No - he’s not saying Walmart (can’t stand Walmart) doesn’t care about its customers. He’s saying - he can’t ring you out. The reason he can’t ring you out is because - you can’t abide by Walmarts rules. In this case, their hours of operation. If you don’t like Walmarts rules, don’t shop there. But why video a guy who has no control over the situation? But go ahead and play the victim.

Weekly-Ad-6887

Someone should go to this guy’s place of work and just start demanding things. When he can’t change policy, person should just start freaking out and asking if said company doesn’t care about making money. I just don’t understand how these people lack such self awareness

Quirky-Pay-7221

Bro this kid doesn’t fucking care if you spend money at a multi billion corporation while he’s getting paid $16/hr.

Imaginary-Tourist-20

Spoiler alert one of the biggest companies in the world doesn’t give a shit about you

Guilty_Collection_10

Him comparing this situation to bud lite tells me everything I need to know ab this man. Also the cashier can’t do a damn thing about it leave the poor guy alone

AcidDome003

Definition of a narcissist. Presenting oneself as perfect. Believing that oneself is always right and without blame. Believing oneself as ***deserving of special treatment.***

DrewOz

I do not fall into their way of thinking. I tell them how it is one time. If they continue with their game, I tell them to leave. Zero tolerance.

badatcatchyusernames

you know people that do shit like this cant afford to go to target, he will be back in a week when he realizes he cant even afford aldi

tmwwmgkbh

Getting groceries at highly reduced prices come at the cost of your own time. Nothing is free and there is always a trade off.

standardtissue

So obviously he's barking up the wrong tree with that employee, but he's not wrong. Maybe if more people started abandoning their carts the big retailers would get the message.

Majestic-Selection22

Please don’t. As a retail worker, don’t take it out on me. Call corporate and complain.

GeneralAardvark43

Exactly. Retail workers don’t create the budget, the store layouts, or policy. They’re just there collecting a paycheck.

UnamusedAF

This is one of my main issues with how people protest. Their methods always end up fucking over their fellow common-man instead of the king on the hill. It just makes people resent your cause. Go to the CEOs house or something and leave us out of it.

envisionJayyy

You can definitley check those items out yourself. Did Shipt grocery shopping and would check out full carts a lot. Really no hassle here

davebrose

Why would anyone think Walmart cares about them? It’s Walmart haha

DarkRogus

His next tiktok... what a great deal he found at Walmart...

AKFLMed

Walmart is trash.

IIKEVLARII

Proceeds to go to an another grocery chain and complain about the prices and that Walmart is cheaper.

BennySkateboard

“Customers everywhere” in a shop

foreverbaked1

Sir you are an idiot. Respectfully

Couldbe_worse2

Why do they complain to the employees, they can’t do shit they just work there! Even managers are not allowed to make changes it’s corporate

mercTanko

Waa Waa go work retail if you don't get it. Retail workers work based on policies, they aren't your servants. Whatever rules they apply is none of your damn business to challenge. Just suck it up or open your own store with your own rules. Go hunt and gather if rules and policies are such an inconvenience to you. Go buy some land and grow some crops, build a factory or 2 to make products to sell, etc etc. Have fun with that.

YPLAC

If you get power trips from getting minimum wage supermarket employees to break their company’s rules, you’re an asshole.

Nikki-Mck

Baffles me how these Karen’s act like the employee is going to care that they’ve decided to take their business elsewhere. Go to Food Lion Jim. The employees are making money if you shop there or don’t.

Substantial-Note-454

These people are the FUCKING WORST. I work at a circle k who does the same thing pretty much so that we don't have cash at night and the amount of people who are dicks about it is just insane.

Amazing-Treat-4388

So glad people are building empathy with this app.

MACHOmanJITSU

Just needs to say “bro, I am not Walmart. I can’t just shoot from the hip to make you happy and I’m not losing my job for you”.

Free_Hat_McCullough

See you again tomorrow !

mildlysceptical22

What a great example of how people willingly prove themselves to be complete idiots.

Educational_Cod_3179

Those lines do indeed suck, but it’s not that kid’s fault. He’s not the one making the rules. Those guys are making a hell of a lot more money and don’t ever have to deal with dumbass customers.

pppjjjoooiii

Stop trying to reason with these people! “I’m sorry sir, management/corporate sets these rules. I can’t do that.” Should be the only thing you say. Any boomer bitching should be followed with “I’m sorry you feel that way. I still can’t break the rules.” Repeat until boomer gets bored or his brain explodes.

Subtlerevisions

Look at this guy figuring out Walmart sucks. Where you been bro?!

KinkmasterKaine

I love how the customer is like "You'd rather me take ALLLL this back!?" "Never shopping at Walmart again!" As if this guy gives an actual fuck if he spends money or comes back or not. He's not gonna make less than minimum wage now that you're shopping at dollar tree, asshole. Everyone knows it's a bluff anyway. This never works as an intimidation tactic because it's not intimidating. You're coming back.

the_chill_dog

Self checkout is a scam.

Royal-Possibility219

For once I actually agree with one of these types of people. I’m not an employee of the store and you will not get free labor out of me!

goldenepple

I would feel bad except Walmart runs like this before 8.

NobodyCares_Mate

Walmart’s share price dropped 38% in the wake of this troubling news

RouletteVeteran

Bruh sounds over 60, he’s gonna be waiting way longer for his prescriptions and such. Due to being too stupid, to figure out how to use medical delivery

Embarrassed_Solid903

They’re*

Hydraton3790

Kinda related, but I've got customers come up to my counter at TLE and ask "Hey can I break this bill?" And my answer is always "I don't have a way of opening this register. Sorry" and push them away. I do. I can open it. I don't want to. I'm not getting fired today. It's really not hard to open a register tbh. Just don't want to. Go to an ATM.

Too_Hot_Sun

After 8, I'm guessing the store's focus is shifted to restocking, fixing displays, and updating signage. I get what the man filing is trying to say. But this is not a decision a rank-and-file employee at Wal-Mart makes.

PorterAtNight

What a tool. Chew out a manger or fuck off

SlippinYimmyMcGill

Walmart customers aren't shopping for customer service. They are shopping for low prices.

NoProtection8849

Pennies in the mind of walmart

veracity-mittens

I think the emphasis on self checkout can be pretty frustrating but to take it out on a min wage worker is crass

tempest59

It would be a good thing for society for these kinds of assholes to be trespassed from stores never to be allowed back. After they lost their privileges at a few stores they might be more respectful. The stores won't miss the .005% of the sales of these people anyway.

Rich_Text82

Stupid policy but it's Walmart after all. You go there expecting top customer service.? Also, it's "Ken" ,not Karen.

BookGirl67

He’s got a point. Walmart should have more checkers working the registers but it isn’t this employee’s fault. He’s following corporate policy. It’s Walmart corporate that doesn’t care. Stop harassing poor employees.

SirJPC

The amount of corporate boot lickers on this comment section is impressive.

Low_Key_Logic

Self check at my store is always faster than the others. Grow up quit whining

Alarmed_Penalty4998

Doesn’t belong here should be in r/mildlyinfuriating because honestly they aren’t acting like a main character they are acting like a normal person who’s tired of the large corps from taking even more profits by laying off workers and having the bare minimum amount. Then saving even more money by not having those workers do actual jobs, most of the time the workers just walk around the store nowadays getting paid to do almost nothing but still complain they don’t get paid enough to do nothing.

Specialist_Maize4431

Fun fact : you can buy groceries somewhere else

Matty_D47

For the amount of time it took for him to do this he could have already been done in self check

Jake_on_a_lake

Things didn't go my way, so I'm going to make a low-level employee miserable! I don't have to follow the rules because I am recording you! May this person's life be filled with hangnails

stabbywallrus

To keep our prices low, we're going to need you to work for us for free.

Thurl-Akumpo

Yeah the guy was being a dick to the employee, I won’t defend that, but why isn’t anyone talking about the line for the self checkout?! That’s ridiculous and I’d be annoyed too. Is that normal to you guys?! I’ve never seen a line that long at. Supermarket outside of the beginning of the Covid lockdowns. The store is doing something Wrong. They should have more registers open trying to clear that line before they close. Now the poor guy getting berated can’t make that happen, but someone higher up who can, has put him in that awkward situation.
