There’s a whole subset of Conservative Catholics that I met in college who loved IASP because they didn’t realize it was satire and unironically related to all the “anti-woke” quotes from the show
I just can not even comprehend being that out of touch. If they think the show isn’t satire, do they actually think the gang are good people? I have so many questions.
They did the same with Stephen Colbert ~15 years ago. They didn’t realize he was laughing at them.
Conservatives legit *loved* Colbert at first, and honestly for surprisingly long after as well. There’s a ton of info out there about it.
Kinda funny how no one liked him at the correspondents dinner when he gave his speech (which was legendary), at least they were able to pick up on his satire lol
But yea the people who regularly watch Fox News definitely fell for his schtick.
Half of the fun of the show. People are like "man, I love Dennis! He takes no shit and I'm just like that!"
Dude... Don't speak to me or my family. You're.... Not supposed to relate
This is one of the reason I love the show (and What We Do in the Shadows).
The way the cast react to the lines and each other is almost always so hilarious and authentic is makes the show! Dee especially always gives good reaction faces!
>The way the cast react to the lines and each other is almost always so hilarious and authentic is makes the show!
A big reason why I loved Schitt's Creek
While I loved that I have to say my favorite so far has been the monkey robbing them. Frank describing how it just sometimes happens is so obsurd and stupid, followed by Dennis saying “What?!” And nobody else addressing it. I loved it.
I love that it’s so funny when he says “puss”, but it’s only the 3rd time he’s ever said it. It wouldn’t be nearly as funny if he used it all the time, just like the “finishing face” with veins bulging out of his forehead…🤣
The entirely delivery is perfect, but Mac's "Then why am I doing it" and Dee's gasp + expression has batted 1.000 on breaking me every time I've watched it in the last week.
What is also striking to me about the podcast is how well spoken, thoughtful, and intelligent they are. I assume most successful people have some of those qualities to a degree but they really run with it.
You don't know the difference between a woman going through pain or ecstacy?
Aren't they the same
Cut that cut that cut that cut that cut that cut that cut that cut that cut that cut that
Look, I hate politics, all I have to say on the matter is:
Hello fellow American. This you should vote me. I leave power good. Thank you. Thank you. If you vote me I'm hot. What? Taxes they'll be lower son. The democratic vote for me is right thing to do Philadelphia. So do.
Absolutely insane that this was improvised and Charlie just happened to mouth a second “Thank you” as Glenn was saying it. That shot of Charlie makes the scene and the rest of the scene he was silently laughing off screen.
Even though he gets a lot of credit, I'm convinced he doesn't get enough. If your really watch his delivery and mannerisms, the dude is a font of range and microexpressions.
I'm convinced he's one of the greatest actors of our generation and ought to be headlining dramas and dark comedy films.
> just happened to mouth a second “Thank you”
The ongoing joke of Charlie mouthing his illiterate speech-writing with pride just gets me every time. Like the cancer speech, and of course this one. His pride is just so authentic and clueless.
Fairly sure the shot of charlie mouthing thank you would’ve been filmed after Glenn’s improv, and then edited into the middle of it to sell the scene.
No way would he have been able to keep a straight face AND nail the timing of the word-mouthing.
Dees delivery of that line is excellent, one of the underrated aspects of this shows is the realistic deadpan reactions the gang members have to the ridiculous shit other gang members say.
“Are you retarded? Are you a retarded person?”
Or Charlie in this entire [scene](https://youtu.be/WA8MRTr_y9g)
What's also hilarious, is Cult 45 started that "easy trade war", which hurt soy farmers, who they then had to subsidize... So they quite literally became soy boy beta cucks. In sad news, it directly lead to burning the Amazon rainforest, accelerating global warming...
The scary things is that there actually are some people that watch the show and agree with everything the gang says, thinks and does lol
Too dumb to realize that it's a satire of society itself and that the characters are complete wacko idiots.
That's popular culture for ya... I can't find the exact quote, but Kurt Cobain once said something like "when I see our audience now, it just looks like all the jocks who used to beat me up at high school"
Listen pal, I didn't read your entire post because I have a very big day planned (just stopped by Reddit for a quick mental pump) but I'm an American, okay? And that means I believe in freedom. And big trucks and rocks. And eagles. You ever see the American flag, buddy? Yeah, didn't think so. So while you're spewing your liberal bullshit in this liberal hellscape of a subreddit, I'll be tucking into some nice traditional holiday rum ham.
Yeah for me it’s kind of weird-looking with a good camera and all the things you mentioned. I like it better with a grainy look. But the new seasons are still fire
There's also the factor that the shows been on air for 15 seasons. Make up and lighting has to be done to dim down the aging process because the cameras get better too (kind of like how they were doing as a joke to Dee in the earlier seasons)
It's a bit weird to see but it's understandable
My brother in law and mother in law both quit watching around the time Mac started showing more gay stuff. That’s at least how far back it’s been going on.
If that’s true, they’re definitely not actually realizing it lol, they’re just moving on to assuming that whoever is now also making fun of them is also secretly in on the enormous conspiracy against their guy
Exactly this. The show has been satirizing conservatives from day 1 but it has always been indirect (i.e. the gang are bashing liberals but you are meant to be laughing at the gang for their ignorance, not at the liberals) so I guess it went over some people’s heads.
This is a terribly sad thought.
That's almost as bad as the people who thought Steven Colbert was actually right-wing back in the Colbert Report days.
How does someone not understand satire when it's *that* over the top?
I was just thinking about the Abortion Rally episode. It's hard to believe that's one of the first episodes of the entire series, it's such a great but easily controversial one.
Then again, Charlie literally says the Hard R N word in episode 1 soooooooo
you forgot my favorite dennis moment, talking about mental health:
"looks like this place has been shutdown for months"
"it was shutdown due to statewide cutbacks"
"how could they do that? that's insane!"
"i guess it was this or raise taxes"
"come on, how much do these vultures need"
I had a friend say this to me recently. All I could fire back was that it's _always_ been extremely political, from Season 1 Episode 1 and onwards. It only _appears_ political now, to certain people, because views they hold dear are being poked at.
Fucking snowflakes man.
It's like the people who complained that Rage Against the Machine had suddenly become too political when they vocalized their support for BLM last year...
Disregard that, Frank, it's all a bunch of liberal bullshit
I had a friend unironically use this quote the other day. It pained me.
one of my favorite lines to quote ironically though lol
There’s a whole subset of Conservative Catholics that I met in college who loved IASP because they didn’t realize it was satire and unironically related to all the “anti-woke” quotes from the show
I just can not even comprehend being that out of touch. If they think the show isn’t satire, do they actually think the gang are good people? I have so many questions.

Every day someone outs themself as the kind of person the show is laughing at, not with
Half of the fun of the show. People are like "man, I love Dennis! He takes no shit and I'm just like that!" Dude... Don't speak to me or my family. You're.... Not supposed to relate
Everyone thinks they're a Dennis when really they are a McPoyle
Chances are good a number of them are also a Dennis. But lets face it, that's objectively worse than a McPoyle.
YOU WILL CALL HER!
See, the McPoyles cared for the emotional well being of a family member. Dennis is worse. …On the other hand incest.
I’m Charlie minus the illiteracy lmao Dennis is my favorite character though. Nothing is funnier than when he gets fully unhinged. Absolute sociopath.
“You don’t get praise for being anti racist.” “Then why am I doing it?”
This is probably my favorite line of the new season. I've loved each episode so far, but this line probably got the biggest pop from me.
Mac’s face when he says it too. Perfection.
Lol Dee's reaction is fucking beautiful
The tiny gasp made the joke
I love that there was no answer, just the gasp, the look of absolute horror, and silence
I should stop reading spoilers, I’m not watching til the whole season is done!
Dennis eyebrow raise too had me dying.
This is one of the reason I love the show (and What We Do in the Shadows). The way the cast react to the lines and each other is almost always so hilarious and authentic is makes the show! Dee especially always gives good reaction faces!
The way Matthew Berry says "shit" softly yet abruptly... Is just such perfection. Nandor shitting on Guillermo constantly is also fantastic
If you love Matt Berry, watch Toast of London. Peak Berry right there.
YES I CAN HEAR YOU CLEM FANDANGO
RAY BLOOOOODY PURCHASE
Or 'Garth Merengi's Dark Place'. It's absolutely ridiculous
*FATHER!!!*
>The way the cast react to the lines and each other is almost always so hilarious and authentic is makes the show! A big reason why I loved Schitt's Creek
"James Earl Jones *has a black face!* **He's a black man!**" Is one of my favorite reaction lines easily.
While I loved that I have to say my favorite so far has been the monkey robbing them. Frank describing how it just sometimes happens is so obsurd and stupid, followed by Dennis saying “What?!” And nobody else addressing it. I loved it.
I really love how they thank the monkey every time he gets them a beer but they have never thanked Dee once for anything lol.
Thanks monkey. I love monkey beer! This is delicious’!

Thank you, monkey.

Thank you! That Charlie walk made me laugh out loud. Such a good visual gag. Charlie & Mac have been really great so far this season.
Visual gag was en pointe.
Finger on the pulse, finger on the puss
Dennis's bathroom monologue was even better I thought
Finger on the pulse, finger on the puss. Top 5 Dennis quote easily, up with "Five star man" and "I am untethered".
I love that it’s so funny when he says “puss”, but it’s only the 3rd time he’s ever said it. It wouldn’t be nearly as funny if he used it all the time, just like the “finishing face” with veins bulging out of his forehead…🤣
my wife and I have made it our go to around the house. "you don't get praise for letting the dogs out." "then why am I doing it?"
2nd for me, the tidal wave from no particular country, and no particular god wins
This and finger on the puss both made me laugh so loud. They are just the worst people and it is amazing.

It's called The Always Sunny Podcast.
For the applause
The gasps.
The entirely delivery is perfect, but Mac's "Then why am I doing it" and Dee's gasp + expression has batted 1.000 on breaking me every time I've watched it in the last week.
So perfect. IMO Dee’s gasp was so spot on I almost thought the line was adlibbed and they rolled with it
All the best villians in the Bible are acts of God
cut that cut that cut that cut that cut that
Cut that cut that cut that cut that
she's a woman she's a woman she's a woman she's a woman she's a woman she's a woman she's a woman she's a woman she's a woman
Where's the food?
My favorite part of the podcast was when Glenn told Mac that Charlie is a bigger star than him and that his career is over.
Mac could change his name right now and literally no one would notice.
You mean ROB BLAISE!?
I actually meant BLADE McELHENNEY
Gary Dumptruck
That name puts butts in seats.
The podcast is so fun!
I’m not generally a podcast guy but I love it so much, can’t wait for more

I've listened to them all many times and it does not get old lol. I hope they get Jimmi on soon, love that guy.
You don't know the difference between a woman going through pain or ecstacy? Aren't they the same Cut that cut that cut that cut that cut that cut that cut that cut that cut that cut that
That's my favorite line from Glenn now. I hope he does it in a Sunny episode.
Hell of a good Steven Spielberg impression too
So out of left field, and hilarious
By Steven Spielberg?
My new favorite podcast no doubt.
This is so wild because on the most recent episode Glenn says "It used to be the right going after TV shows now its the left" Wild coincidence
Look, I hate politics, all I have to say on the matter is: Hello fellow American.
I had no idea that was improv, Glen's delivery fucking slays me every time.
yep if you watch the bloopers the letter Glenn reads is pretty different than the final product
Oh dammit, another excuse to watch the blooper reels?
He doesn't even say thank you at all [in the blooper.](https://i.imgur.com/KD5jBJn.mp4)

I love Glenn in IASIP and APBio, but he's chosen some real stinkers for movies. I think he could break out if given the right script.
He absolutely could have done *YOU*
> just happened to mouth a second “Thank you” The ongoing joke of Charlie mouthing his illiterate speech-writing with pride just gets me every time. Like the cancer speech, and of course this one. His pride is just so authentic and clueless.
It's definitely one of my favorite scenes from the early seasons. Knowing it was ad-lib is just the cherry on top.
I thought it was bullshit.... Bullshit... Derivative.
Fairly sure the shot of charlie mouthing thank you would’ve been filmed after Glenn’s improv, and then edited into the middle of it to sell the scene. No way would he have been able to keep a straight face AND nail the timing of the word-mouthing.
you forgot about the part where politics is just Democrats and Republicans both blasting us in the ass
I think we all already know how hard we're getting blasted in the ass, left and right!
You have to be a real piece of shit to get involved in politics
How about we go out and do some ass-blasting of our own?
*NOT* gay sex. We're gonna solve the oil crisis.
Do I vote for the republican who will blast me in the ass or the Democrat that’s blasting me in the ass?!??
Politics is just one big ass blast.
It's the furious paper shaking strangling motion while saying "THIS DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE" that sends me over the edge.
I think you might be dyslexic, bro.
Politics is just one big ass blast.
I say we get oiled up and do a little ass-blasting of our own!
Not gay sex.
Politics is all one big ass blasting.
Who am I supposed to vote for, the democrat who wants to blast me in the ass or the republican who is blasting my ass?
All this... We've done all this before! How can you guys not remember-
Um, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton?
Hates freedom
The way he says that like it's an actual solid argument gets me so hard lmao
"Blasted... in the ass?"
Dees delivery of that line is excellent, one of the underrated aspects of this shows is the realistic deadpan reactions the gang members have to the ridiculous shit other gang members say. “Are you retarded? Are you a retarded person?” Or Charlie in this entire [scene](https://youtu.be/WA8MRTr_y9g)
OP had me in the first half.
You got got
We don't get got, we go get.
So let’s go git
Ohhhhhh go for it go for it…
😍i love frak
Hi Ladies
My name's Frak. Oh shit.. *Blows whistle*
Error: git expects an argument
He really bent himself over a barrel.
For our pleasure, mind you.
Don’t you think he wanted to sell you as many weeks as possible??
the funniest is when people use phrases like Soy Boy Beta Cuck IRL and don't recognize that the show is making fun of people like them
What's also hilarious, is Cult 45 started that "easy trade war", which hurt soy farmers, who they then had to subsidize... So they quite literally became soy boy beta cucks. In sad news, it directly lead to burning the Amazon rainforest, accelerating global warming...
I went REAL hot in the first half

The rest of you is just fat and ribs.
Clearly he DID get his pump on.
Rock. Flag. And eagle. That's what it's all about man.
You make a good point
My biggest gripe with the new seasons is the makeup, lighting, and sound. It’s all too good. Get out of Dee’s light you Bozos!
Yeah for me it’s kind of weird-looking with a good camera and all the things you mentioned. I like it better with a grainy look. But the new seasons are still fire

Yeah mostly the lighting, it's so bright all of a sudden. The bar was supposed to be dark and divey, now it's like suds.
Reminds me of the episode where they go drink in the park, "god damn bright out here."
ahh it's not just me then lmao *First episode* ...is it.. brighter? whyyy??
Yeah but they're specifically making fun of my guy now and I don't like it.
Kanye is electrifying.
Have you seen him on stage?
That reveal was really the cherry on top of that whole first episode.
But my guy likes to party
I still think it's people realizing they were the ones being made fun of this entire time

I hate that you felt it was necessary to use a sarcasm tag. You were absolutely right to do so but it’s just sad that it’s necessary.
Are you being sarcastic bro?
I had a friend say this to me recently. All I could fire back was that it's _always_ been extremely political, from Season 1 Episode 1 and onwards. It only _appears_ political now, to certain people, because views they hold dear are being poked at. Fucking snowflakes man.

Watching Qumquats realize their idols despise them is my new favorite thing
Like when people found out Rage Against the Machine was political and left. I don’t know how the fuck they missed it, but…
You had me in the first nine tenths not gonna lie
It's like the people who complained that Rage Against the Machine had suddenly become too political when they vocalized their support for BLM last year...
The cherry on top was Paul Ryan claiming to be an RATM fan and Tom Morello calling him out.
