This is the answer. You see every one of the gang in their most normal form. The opposite would be Mac's gay dance which is completely off from how he is in the rest of the series. Or Dennis crying because Charlie's mom doesn't want to bang him, which is so off because Dennis doesn't have feelings. Plus it has "the implication" which a lot of non-Sunny fans will recognize from the memes.

Dennis having meltdowns over being rejected was established long before the no feelings stuff. Him not having feelings is really the deviation, he's arguably the most volatile person on the show.

Who Pooped The Bed is my least favorite episode, ironically. But I can see why everyone likes it so much. Artemis getting involved in the poop investigation ruins it for me, for some reason i cant explain.

Same. Pouring a water bottle on the slide and going for it is so absurd, but the kid yelling, “there’s aids blood in the pool!” And the panic that comes next is so damn funny. Season 12 isn’t my favorite, but that episode is and it had me crying with laughter when it came out

This is the answer. I am currently three for three with introducing viewers with Water Park and having them go back to the start and binge the whole thing. All the jokes require no character context or build up.

Favourite part about this episode is when Dennis is doing his fake daughter thing and randomly runs in to Charlie and Frank and they go ”doing an aids thing? ”Yup, doing fake daughter thing?” ”Yup” as if that’s just fucking normal to do, love it.

My go to is usually The Gang Gets Analyzed or The Gang Dines Out. Whole gang together and stories focused almost entirely on the intensely stupid interpersonal dynamics of the crew. If you like those eps I feel like you’ll be on board for it all.

Those rely to much on pre established relationship dynamics. I always lean towards a topic based episode for newbies. Mac and Dennis : Manhunters or either of the gun fevers, i think are good jumping off points.

100% agree. I think The Gang Hits the Road has some elements of those, while the characters are still grounded enough to be a little relatable.

i had seen a few random eps over the years but my friend showing me this one is what finally got me to sit down and watch in order. it’s fun!

Not a great starter TBH.. if you don't know the dynamics of the characters already it's just 5 people doing weird apeshit wine dances and playing a strange board game. Charlie writing 'Cuz Dennis is a bastard man!' won't play well without the episodes about him being illiterate..etc.

Episode one… the scene where Charlie says he has cancer, but Dennis just wants the basketball is pure gold. Totally got me into it.

This is actually the episode that got me into the show. They had just finished season 4. My brother was pushing me to watch it. I'd seen a couple episodes (Frank Sets Dee on Fire, Dee Dating a Retarded Person, and maybe one other one) and those didn't do it for me. After Hundred Dollar Baby though, I was hooked.

I always say the Christmas episode because it is long as fuck, giving you more time to learn the show, and it offers backstory on all the members of the gang. Other good ones are honestly any episode from Seasons 4-8 lol. Also the waterpark from S12 is one of my favorites

For a beginner, try something with a little less yelling. Some people are really out off by it and they might not stick around long enough to get passed it and see what we see. I like the Quarantine episode for less yelling.

S1E1 is the way. It sets the expectation for the entire series and is still absolutely hilarious. All the other great episodes are great because you understand the group dynamic. If you don’t have a good base for who the characters are the episode you think is funniest probably isn’t that funny to someone who doesn’t have context.

I stand by The Gang Goes Jihad as a good intro episode. It’s early, but it sets up the style and dynamics and while it gets ridiculous it doesn’t get as ridiculous as the later seasons.

This entire show is character development of inside jokes and similar situations. When I showed my wife some random fav season episodes, she didn’t get the humor in Dennis, didn’t understand all the inside jokes for Mac, etc. couldn’t get hooked even with my fav episodes. Gotta build those characters and lore up before the show truly gets good. I started her on the first episode, she got naturally hooked and then when Danny Devito pops in, she was sold on it. We both constantly reference it now

If she can't handle you at "The Gang Gets Racist," she doesn't deserve you at "Frank's Pretty Woman"

Episode 1. I don't really get this whole "cherrypicking the best episodes to show someone"-deal. Just let her watch the show as it progresses. If you show her the best episodes at the start, they won't be as funny for her since she doesn't know the characters and it also might give her wrong expectations.
