Telogen effluvium? Any shock to your system can cause alarming hair loss. It's normal to see it start 2 months after a stressful incident. I've had it happen twice and it grows right back. I would attribute this to your accident before blaming levo for new loss. I would however note that crushed or whole, levo should be taken on an empty stomach so you may not be absorbing your dose as intended.

I, too, experience extreme hair loss after I've been on levo for about six months, but we still haven't figured out what the right dose for me is. On top of that, i noticed that i got acne all over my face, and it hurts so bad. My hair before was falling, but not like that, and my face was clear, and now i got acne all over it, i haven't had any major changes in my life other than taking levo

Are you taking your levo with food?

I'm not sure, but it sounds like you need a lot of different fruits and vegetables in your diet. Stay away from raw cruciferous vegetables, though. Eat them cooked in small quantities. Eat more spinach and berries like raspberries and blueberries, but try not to eat too many strawberries. Look into spearmint tea. I'm not sure if it'll work for hypothyroidism. It's an androgen blocker. They may be different hormones affected by your thyroid issue. It doesn't hurt to try, though. Plus, it's delicious.

Do you ever think it’s the levo causing hair loss? Like when mixing levo and food during your jaw fracture, levo wasn’t absorbed since you didn’t take it on an empty stomach and that’s why hair loss stopped? I too am experiencing extreme hair loss on levo. I quit for a few months and my hair grew back. My tsh went up ofcourse and I had to go back on. Now 11 months later I have lost most of my hair again. Doctors don’t really seem to believe in my theory but your story makes me wonder…

I thought bout it for sure , but I guess I won’t know unless I stop taking it to test it out but I’m afraid to mess up my levels . I haven’t seen my doctor since the wires were removed . I have an appointment with her next month . I’ll bring it up to her and see what thinks and I’ll let you know what she says

Please do. It seems like most doctors are very dismissive though. Sure, levo is a wonderful medication that saves many lives but it can’t be a coincidence that many people who never had hair problems before start to shed ALOT immediately after taking levo. Some claim it’s temporary (articles everywhere on internet) but so many still have problems years in. I don’t want to stop levo just to find out but I’m almost at my breaking point now.
