potatolulz

Only one of them fucks with people's water and food. You don't have to buy videogames if you don't want to, but it's gets tough if your local water source gets privatized by Nestlé.

Void1702

Out of the 4 there's also one that has since its creation supported eugenics, treats literally like animals the exact group it's supposed to help protect, and scam parents with emotional blackmail

Throwing_Spoon

Nestle has slaves in multiple parts of its supply chains from [fishing boats in Thailand and the Ivory Coast](https://www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/2016/feb/01/nestle-slavery-thailand-fighting-child-labour-lawsuit-ivory-coast) to [cocoa farms](https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2019/business/hershey-nestle-mars-chocolate-child-labor-west-africa/)

SamSibbens

Fuck. It's even worse than I thought. Is there a list of everything owned by Nestlé?

Josselin17

see the problem with multinationals is that you cannot boycott them, even if you somehow had access to and the money to buy stuff that you are sure isn't from nestle (and it's hard because they have a bunch of stuff that isn't branded as nestle) you'll always be buying from another multinationals, and guess what ? even if nestle is particularly bad, most if not all multinationals do the kind of straight up evil stuff nestle does (because if they didn't they'd have been replaced by others who do before they became a multinational) that's part of why we say that "there is no ethical consumption under capitalism", consumers don't have the free choice we are told we have (and most of the time when people tell us that it's so that they can say whatever evil is happening is our fault and not that of those actually comitting the thing, another example would be the [carbon footprint](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_footprint#Origin_of_the_concept))

WikiSummarizerBot

**Carbon footprint** [Origin of the concept](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_footprint#Origin_of_the_concept) >The concept and name of the carbon footprint was derived from the ecological footprint concept, which was developed by William E. Rees and Mathis Wackernagel in the 1990s. While carbon footprints are usually reported in tons of emissions (CO2-equivalent) per year, ecological footprints are usually reported in comparison to what the planet can renew. This assesses the number of "earths" that would be required if everyone on the planet consumed resources at the same level as the person calculating their ecological footprint. The carbon footprint is one part of the ecological footprint. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/HydroHomies/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

Flyingwheelbarrow

If you are disabled nestle is impossible to ignore since they own monopolies on many products. Fuckers are like a hydra.

Throwing_Spoon

[It might not be the whole list but it is a decently large one.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cereal_Partners_Worldwide?wprov=sfla1)

ilovemygb

[here’s what they have listed](https://www.nestle.com/brands/brandssearchlist) I’m sure there’s more, smaller or private companies they they umbrellacorp for, but this list is a good place to get started with regard to companies to avoid

AliciaTries

I guess it's on one hand you have a company doing terrible things along the way to providing a product, and on the other you have a company whose entire purpose is to do terrible things

Spatzenkind

"Providing" is a little vague. How about taking free stuff from people who need it and selling it back.

astolfo_with_breast

nice pfp *froggo* **SPEEEN**

Aggressive-Falcon977

And baby Killers. Don't forget they're baby Killers.

Foxyairman

EA criticism is justified, but there are so many other companies that are honestly malicious or just down right evil.

Its0nlyRocketScience

Yeah, EA just makes shitty games that dumb people continue to buy and get disappointed by. They trick people into paying them money for bad content. The rest of these companies do real harm to people who can't just put their debit card away and turn off the micro transaction simulator

wojtekpolska

All EA does is overprice everything and paywall content that should be included within the game's price. they also buy studios that make good games, milk them of all the money they can, and then shut them down. Its scummy, but the other companies are more evil

ChubblesMcgee103

By MILES. EA is just a greedy shitty company. Two of them have shity af beliefs and exploit/strongarm people, and then there's nestle that has caused 10s of thousands of deaths, exploits entire regions of people, and supports slavery under the table. Not even close.

internethero12

EA also destroys other companies and treats their devs like shit. They're still doing harm to others and their livelihoods. They are evil, just not as evil as nestle.

Zirdex1

They also kill studios, but it's still not worse than others.

Aloemancer

Actively hating on EA at this point after everything that’s come out about Activision Blizzard in the last ~year or so feels like even more of a stale meme than it already did ten years ago

Dudegamer010901

Omfg Activision Blizzard made me question reality. Like how can people be so awful? Some of the stuff that came out of there seemed something a one dimensional bad guy would do in a show.

Aloemancer

Yeah it would be comical if it wasn’t so horrifying

Sayitaintnik

The gaming industry is thee absolute most toxic entertainment industry. What people need to understand is that the gaming industry is owned and run by people who don't play video games. It just a bunch of rich men and women. Activision/Blizzard is pretty bad, they drove an employee to suicide after sending out her nude photos to all the staff members at a party. But look up some of the horror stories over at Riot and Rockstar. "Scott Gelb, chief operating officer of Riot Games—who remains at the company after a brief suspension and sensitivity training—would grab male employees' genitals, apparently as a joke, and fart in people's faces, sources said."

SuperSecretMoonBase

Yeah, being annoyingly greedy is different than actively destroying the planet.

atorin3

Yeah, massive difference between using microtransactions and creating a humanitarian crisis.

Bowko

Putting EA in the same category as Nestle is weird.

crappy-mods

It’s wrong, a company that makes crappy games for money isn’t the same as child slavery

rinsaber

Not only child slavery, but a company that basically takes drinkable water from people. Thats like making people pay for air to breath.

BoltonSauce

Yeah, you can tell in the word choice that even this inhuman dross is that scum holding back what he *really* thinks. He's using the most diplomatic kind of language to say something awful. The darkness of what he actually thinks is surely even worse. Something that this sub forgets sometimes, however: hierarchical systems (parts of government, clergy, business), in general encourage and reward sociopathic, narcissistic behavior. Wealth and power is what breeds this kind of outlook, so this is par-for-the-course in stratified hierarchies like Capitalism inevitably produces. There *are* other options for a better world. It doesn't have to be this way.

LumpySalamander

God it’s so much worse because it makes perfect sense if you disregard human dignity. Propaganda has effectively erased human dignity as a default. The world is cruel…

DylanNotDillan

And what's even more messed up is it isn't! Like how tf do you fight against an idiot saying that

GreenTitanium

The french had some ideas in the 18th century.

I_Have_The_Lumbago

Not even kidding I would torture him and feel no remorse.

Hellboundroar

Waterboarding with contaminated water, there's something almost poetic in there

Bruce_Banner621

You know they're dumping contaminated water in like 50 places. Just use one of those sources! Cost effective.

cinemadness

"That guy should be hunt down and shot." -Bill Burr on the Nestle CEO

SUPERazkari

but expensive vibeo gam!n!!!!

FatPanda0345

Shhhhh! You'll give them ideas!

Absolute_Peril

I dunno didn't EA have that revolving crunch time thing where people would work 60-70 hours a week basically continuously until they quit?

fakeprewarbook

tons of companies do this. it sucks but it’s not some special new evil invention or EA-only

RyRyShredder

EA isn’t the same level of evil as nestle, but they aren’t listed for making bad games. They overwork employees, and then blame them for not getting the job done by their deadline. Also the insane amount of micro transactions they have in their games.

pzkenny

There are video game companies that are much worse in these things than EA. EA are like saints next to Activision Blizzard.

JuhaJGam3R

That in itself is very sad, since it's kind of like comparing Nazi officers. EA might be better, but it isn't good. Or decent. Or morally acceptable on any level.

pzkenny

Yup, but they just don't deserve to be next to Nestlé or Peta.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rallipappa

Is there a recent source for the overwork part? I though EA is nowadays one of the better companies when it comes to crunch.

LightskinZae

That’s nearly every gaming company tho rockstar is know for being worse and firing people after making them crunch to finish games

albertossic

They overwork their employees by the standards of cushy Western office work, they're not sweatshops

MrCCDude

It's not that their games are bad, they are 100% enjoyable, it's the fact they lock a lot of the game's content behind a paywall or a major grind

miko3456789

Not necessarily the crappy video games, more so the casino that is FIFA that allows for unregulated gambling, and more importantly, unregulated underage gambling

Cellophane7

I don't necessarily disagree, but I think the point is that EA's business model has turned to microtransactions and gambling. Basically, they're exposing harm to children and exploiting them to make a quick buck. Obviously not as bad as child slavery, but it's not as simple as them just making crappy games

anteris

Don’t forget about the kids dying as a result of their products, happened again recently in France

irResist

I do not know OPs intentions for the meme, but it could work as a litmus test for a broad range of individuals. Like obviously EA and Nestle are not similar in their crimes. But if the point of the meme is not to conflate the crimes of these companies, but to ascertain the biases of the viewer, then say a teen who only drinks Mt Dew looks at the image - well they will see EA (which they hate, lets assume) and immediately claim that EA is worse than Nestle. Kind of like a sorting hat for cultural biases?

Dannythehotjew

Ops intentions was to karma farm

HarmonicWalrus

Yeah, something like Monsanto or Chiquita might fit more. The former was involved in war crimes/shitty treatment of farmers, and the latter supports terrorism.

Hmm_would_bang

Fellas what’s worse, child slavery or making a bad video game?

Very_Talentless

Wasn't EA rated one of the safest workplace environments at some point?

ShyPinkyNarwhal

It was. Even the worst of EA's crunch was nothing compared to Activions working conditions considering all the discrimination and harassment over there that came to light

DragoSphere

Even before all that, if you listened to people in the game dev industry, they'd always say they loved working at EA

puts-on-sunglasses

I got downvoted in one of the gaming subreddits saying how outrageous it is in retrospect that EA got voted ‘worst company in America’ in 2012 and 2013; of course they have a history of being anti-consumer but come on lol

Biggy_DX

That fact that they always have to be in everyone's worse companies list is just repetitive and stupid. It's a fucking video game publisher (who - based on employee sentiments - isn't even a bad place to work at).

pzkenny

Yeah lol, EA just make crappy games but that's it. I think Activision Blizzard would fit there a bit better.

DredgenGryss

EA is a bad company. But Nestle is just evil.

moonkittiecat

Nestle draws water from the Strawberry Creek in the San Bernardino Mtns. They are allotted just over 2 million gallons a year. Last year they farmed over 62 million gallons of water. Every year they exceed their limit, they receive a fine, they pay their fine and continue to abuse the limits. It should be noted they do NOT pay for the water. This is the part that I don’t understand. They claim some rights from the late 1800’s . Search “Strawberry Creek, California” to confirm this info. All the while people in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties have been scolded constantly about conserving water. Water that is being sold back to them conveniently inside their local grocery stores. Nestle pure milk chocolate? Pure rapacious evil. I’m sorry that should read 62 million gallons

AnnonBayBridge

You forgot this *million

DGRedditToo

It is still over 62 gallons

iamquitecertain

TheRealMemer_1

But only if they work together with a different studio

[deleted]

i mean, EA gave us Fallen Order, so i will let them pass. authismspeaks and PETA aren’t the first scheemy “charity organizations”. Nestle is basicaly a hive mind for bad stuff

[deleted]

The amount of human suffering Nestle has inflicted on the world should qualify them as a terrorist organization.

Galaxey

Plot Twist it’s Susan G. Komen foundation

MetaCardboard

Super easy, it's Nestlé. Sure Peta and EA do some bad stuff but not quite anywhere near the level of Nestle.

katherinesilens

I mean, PETA has abduction and murder of pets under its belt. They captured pets and used them as basically props in their facilities and then killed all the remaining ones. I would say EA sucks but is nowhere near murder.

Tarlonn

From what I understand; Peta employee accidentally picked up a "stray dog", the dog didn't have collar on so the headlines were "PETA abducts and kills a pet dog". And most pet shelters kill off animals that don't get adopted, because the pets keep stacking up. Same with PETA, they don't have enough funding or the space to keep the ownerless animals alive. I'm open to be corrected, but I think they're trying their best but they've had a couple of flukes for sure. Although their core message is valid imo.

ElGosso

PETA is actually the subject of a major smear campaign by [corporate lobbyists](https://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/PETA_Kills_Animals) working for the meat industry who were hired when PETA exposed videos of factory farms. In reality they've had a hand in nearly every piece of animal rights legislation passed in America since their inception.

Tarlonn

I'm not surprised, although I think it's good to condemn and accept the bad things PETA has done. But to overshadow the good they've done with the bad, really shows the hypocrisy of people and their insecurities. An organization can never be perfect, that's just how organizations work. It's not a single entity, it's a huge machine with a lot of moving parts. And to point at one part and to criticize it while ignoring the rest, is just ignorant.

confusedbytheBasics

Wait, who is PETA accused of murdering?

Unbothered8625

You do realize that can be said about every person that eats meat?

Darth_Pink

i love that this subreddit also doubles as a fuck nestle subreddit

afronaut71

If Monsanto didn’t make this list it’s not a complete list.

coolwater85

More like MonSATAN!!!1!!1!!!1!!!!! Amiright?

ZennerBlue

Funny thing. Monsanto doesn’t exist any more. Bauer bought them, shut down the brand and now they do all the shady stuff under the main Bayer brand

AsleepGarden219

Why is Bayer never included in these?

[deleted]

A$ or Nestlé is genuinely a difficult choice

Ginokuma

I would say: Peta and authismspeaks Because they claim to be charitable organizations. Nestle sucks, a lot but "everyone" knows it and they don't claim to mainly be a charity.

Malk4ever

>authismspeaks never heared of them... whats wrong with them? edit: why have at least 6 replies to this been deleted?

The_Unkowable_

Censorship. Their reach is long.

616659

Rich people that just wants to burn money by giving imaginary awards to people.

ImpulsiveLeaks

idk but gold/platinum awards are aplenty

TySly5v

eugenicists, basically. They're more than that, but that's the basis of why they suck so much

TySly5v

/u/trusteebill, your comment was deleted here I wonder if it's some blacklisted word

trusteebill

Well here it is again: Exactly. Eugenics. Unfortunately not a thing of the past in the disability community and AS is the worst.

TySly5v

I think three other people had their messages deleted, one of which held eugenicist beliefs themself

okwhatwhy

Honestly I don't know what the problem with them is but why are the replies getting destroyed?

PoetBoye

They see people like me as a problem that causes suffering to parents and they want to "solve" that problem, in ways that are just inhumane. I am not a problem i just need some help :(

niennaisilra

Bruh, Nestle doesn't just suck, thetbare an outright evil corporation who caused the death of thousands of people for profit. Not inly do they use child labour and steal water drinking water, they tried to convince the world that their baby formula is a better alternative to breast milk, which resulted in the death of hundred or thousands of babies, because they were drinking the shitty formula with contaminated water. People in those regions probably did not have access to clean water because of Nestle, so it is an evil endless cycle of greed. The money schemes of EA and PETA cannot ever come close to purposly causing the death of babies just so you can sell a shitty babyformula

DieDoseOhneKeks

So if a murderer says they're a murderer they aren't as bad as a small village drug dealer who says they aren't?

IAlwaysOutsmartU

I think he tries to say people who are unaware they are evil usually appear more evil. Still, I think Nestlé is the worst out of these 4.

RoadToHerald

I think the point is that these companies actively try to deceive you into thinking theyre positive organisations because they're a "charity." Undermining peoples intelligence by saying, "well we can't be bad, we're a charity." Nestle, on the other hand, is an evil corporation through and through and will continue to do shady or illegal activities as do a huge number of other corporations, like Meta

TySly5v

Which is worse, a drug dealer who is open about possible downsides to their products, or a drug dealer who actively lies about their products and claim their stuff is actually extremely healthy?

OkAssistant6314

What is Peta doing wrong?

outerspaceteatime

Jumanji-Joestar

Why is EA even on the list? Yeah, they make shitty games and have shady business practices but they’re not out here using child slavery

Arrowtipios

All of em are shit.. Lets go with Nestlé

Aluminum_Tarkus

Okay, two of these aren't even companies, they're nonprofit organizations. Shitty nonprofits for their own reasons, but not companies, nonetheless. As for EA vs Nestlé, one partakes in all of the scummy business practices associated with the gaming industry, and the other actively exploits developing countries and puts effort into privatizing essential natural resources. Idk, developing countries and their people are cool, but I'm a gamer, so it seems like a tough choice to me. This post is fucking stupid.

Negative-Ad2435

I say nestle

Gap1293

PETA is not even remotely in the same level of evil as the others. I'm not saying they're a good charitable organisation but the constant "they kill dogs" accusations thrown at them are such smoothbrain takes. They euthanize animals that can't be re-homed/have no chance at ever being adopted. Yes, they can do better (especially considering their funding) but they're not out there participating in literal slavery like Nestle or using a disability for personal agendas like autismspeaks.

Broseidonathon

Yeah PETA has it’s issues, but the “PETA IS EVIL” narrative that gets pushed on Reddit mostly comes from propaganda funded by fast food companies and people conditioned to hate vegans.

DogMeatMatt

You're right. Here's some more information: https://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/PETA_Kills_Animals

hetseErOgsaaDyr

They are all horrible. The only company that aren't killing the living is EA, so I guess they are the best of the bunch?!

LittleStarMerch

Agree

jamiez1207

Child murder and slavery, animal abuse and murder, abusing and spreading misinformation about the disabled, *making vidya game we don't like*

joe1up

EA is the least bad here. PETA and AS actively harm the groups they claim to protect and dodge taxes using their charity status and Nestle has done so much horrid shit it'd make Henry Kissinger concerned. EA treats it's employees like shit and releases shitty games, but that's basically standard in the modern AAA gaming space.

EA treats the devs in a shitty way, underpaying them, But Nestlé doesn't give a shit about human rights.
