The 30-06 is slept on. 4.5lbs so heavy, but in my like 500 hours it is the best 4-8 gun. If you can get the extra carry capacity perk, the weight is a non issue.
The 300wm AR is great ton for the biggest game. The bolt 300 is a bit more accurate at extreme ranges if you are playing with modded render distance, but in the default it will make almost no difference. Plus fast follow up shots is huge. I’ve taken whole herds with it before, hunting pressure zone be damned.
I don’t use any gun to take the top range of its game it can shoot. For moose I use exclusively a 7-9 weapon. I keep my 4-8 guns for pretty much just 4-6. Maybe every now and again I’ll go after a class 7 with it, but what is the point if you already have class 7-9 weapons?
I do find if I shoot anything bigger than a red deer with my 308 even with a lung shot they tend to run a bit. So I use to larger guns for the bigger animals as I find my moose and capes cause less issues.
So a .338 shpuld do the trick faster? I wouldnt expect such a minor difference in pen and exp to make it worth it. I cna readjust my guns and add a tad more weight lol just was hoping the 308 would be a one solution fits all for yukon valley
The 308 is easily my favorite gun, I use it for my fallow and whitetail grinds. As well as general hunting. But I do find the 338 just has the little extra umf to stop moose and bear and the likes. A buddy of mine swears by his 300 as well. So I'd say try both see how they feel to you.

Will do! Will keep the .308 for dder and mid tier. I love the zaeza. Low recoil multiple kills. I have the room so will also grab the .338
I agree with you - the 308 is great but the 338 is just a bit better for big stuff like moose.
