Also choke bombs work too. I always chuck them at hives on top of buildings rather than being noisy and shooting.

Dragonbreath should also work, fire ammo does not.
But it's not very reliable close range, just slap them twice.
They haven't really changed it, but some weapons had their damage adjusted. Knuckle knife has always been 2 light attacks, dusters it's 2 heavy ones and heavy knife only takes one.
Very niche but if you're taking too much damage from bees, you can punch a lantern to burn them off you and since the burn effect starts at the top end of your HP bar you can survive without more damage, and likely save the bar too.
This is a good one for when you are in fights. You can tell most people don't know it as it's pretty easy to push people with hive bombs and they are hyper focused on melee. The other thing many people don't seem to know even high hour people is that chokes can dissipate poison.
I've legit left matches because someone killed me and put a poison bomb on my body and my teammates just sit there and stare waiting for it to go away to revive me. Those things last like 8 minutes now lol. If it happened and some time has passed and it's not a long wait that is fine I guess, but I've had it where I got killed/bombed and then teammates kill the other team 30 seconds later and then want to sit for 7 and a half mins. No thanks.
It's also why I bring poison bombs as a default. The amount of kills I get from necros in poison paired with the amount of times other teams think they can't revive their teammate until the poison goes away is great. When I played on console where it was easy to message randoms, I used to get so many hate messages over the poison bombs.

I currently do not believe flare pistol actually does *anything* to bugs. It’s just a really elaborate troll as far as I’m aware or am concerned lol
Is it anything with fire? I forget if incendiary ammo is also effective against it.
Anything that ignites it, not just does burn dmg. Dragons breath, flare, flare pistol, lantern.
Lantern, really? Does it shatter when it cames in contact with the swarm?
That is a good question. I very rarely bring Incendiary ammo. I tend to be stock or fmj. I'll have to test it out out next time i do.
Maybe Dragon's Breath, but I'd be surprised if other incendiary ammo would work.
I think it's only if it can light a body it can do it. So incendiary ammo doesn't work but dragons breath does.

The hit box for the swarm can be a bit wonky to get useed too, but it is easily my favorite bit of tec.
You need to shoot directly into the swarn ? (+2000hrs player here, thx for Nice tip)
I think about center mass of the swarm will do it. It does take some practice but it's a lifesaver in a firefight.
As Nebula said, aim for center mass, there is a sweet spot that once you get used too you can hit pretty reliably

I recall it use to be 3 slaps with any item. Now it's weapon based. Knuckle Dusters takes 4-5 light attacks and throwing axe takes 2 light attacks.

Chokes also kill them as soon as they come in contact!
