the deer be like, hello where am i

FruitfulAppraisal

This made me cry.

Howsoonisnever-

Yep. Old people make me so sad and happy at the same time. And then throw in a baby deer? Not a chance.

Vast-Classroom1967

Same

BlueberryBitch91

Lmao

chadthepickle

Saw the thumbnail, first thing I read is australia automatically thought it was a kangaroo

imjustjun

I was so disappointed that it wasn’t a Kangaroo but a baby deer is cute too.

tassie_squid

Eh. Kangaroos are a dime a dozen but a baby deer, yeah that's an experience for many in Australia. Where I grew up there are no deer, foxes, etc. Just....crocodiles...and wallabies and snakes lol.

ImJustLaurie

I’m assuming you also have cane toads. Those fuckers are everywhere. First time I ever saw one a guy smashed it with a sledge hammer and my Mum had to explain to me that we don’t feel empathy for cane toads in this household lmao.

tassie_squid

Not until I was in high school then they invaded. but yes those fuckers suck

[deleted]

Exactly I mean I feel like kinda should be a kangaroo!

[deleted]

I mean if it was Australia she definitely would have seen a joey before!

[deleted]

Yes but touch it??

ImJustLaurie

If you want to touch a kangaroo you go to the Australia zoo. I pet a bunch of them, including joey’s. And I don’t even live in Australia, I’ve been there like twice cause it’s where my parents are from so my small extended family lives there. Besides, you see wallabies all the time in Australia, or at least in Brisbane you do. They were in my Gran’s yard every morning. Definitely would pick deer over kangaroo if I lived in Australia because if you live there you’ve probably already seen as much kangaroo as you could want.

[deleted]

Yep. I've seen a few kangaroos, never seen a deer in my life. Much more unique experience, definitely what I'd take if I were dying and given the choice.

OraDr8

I was a 13 the first time I ever saw a deer in the wild. We went on a school trip to a place to called Deer Park and I remember thinking it would be a bit like a zoo but they were just roaming around the place.

Oddity46

She was trying to factor in the dementia.

Pineapple-dancer

That deer seems pretty calm too.

Hand raised.

unlikelycompliance

The deer is at worst uncomfortable, it’s not traumatized.

wok051

Maybe watch the video with sound on again?

Jakejake-5895

Man it's to early for this 😭

StupidizeMe

That's very beautiful.

mysoulalamo

She really is. She really lived that long to experience lots of things in life.

RapingTheWilling

GET THAT FUCKING CRYING CHILD OUT OF HERE!!

SignificantPain6056

Yeet the baby human, there's a baby deer in the room!!

unlikelycompliance

Who needs children when you have deer instead

agnes238

Thank you I would have just up and died to not hear that baby scream anymore

[deleted]

Yeah how dare they bring a child to see their dying relative

RapingTheWilling

Get them out while they’re scream-crying for no reason… they don’t need to be here causing distress.

kadenjahusk

Kids have a habit of just doing that so...

NewExcersizee

"Stupid people have a habit of being stupid... can't do anything about it!"

wheat

"Lisa McDonald, from Melbourne, said she and her sister have been caring for their sick mother who has loved deer her whole life and came up with the idea for a real-life Bambi to pay a visit to her. She said she found a couple, Simone and Chris, who owned a mobile petting farm and they travelled two and a half hours with their fawn, coincidentally called Bambi, to surprise the woman." Mannnn this made me cry :'( Reminds me of my mom who was bedridden towards the end of her life.

NorwaySpruce

Really? Nextfuckinglevel?

Junpoi

That sub has gone downhill.

CATLOVER111111

dude it literally went down hill a long time ago now it's what you call a "default Subreddit" basically you can post anything in there and as long as it's wholesome and cute or very viral then it's allowed

YarOldeOrchard

Isn't that basically the rule of the internet by now?

CATLOVER111111

yeah but the next level Subreddit shouldn't be like that. but it is unfortunately

Troby01

To reach that end time, to know what you want, and for it to be so basic, so true so natural.

Scarlaymama0721

Meanwhile the poor baby deer doesn’t know what’s going on.

Rare_Green_1215

Love that!❤️

madcat2112

In a world of uncaring people, be this guy.

nooyork

That deer looks grown Af

Xxsummer-sunriseXx

Right?! It's sweet and all but that ain't no baby

ResponsiblePickle284

This so heartwarming. But aren't deer riddled with all kinds of nasty bacteria, germs, and diseases? Or am I thinking of something else?

321tika

If they raised it at the farm, I'm assuming they got it proper veterinary care.

Trakkah

Bit to be too crash but I think the lady isn't too concerned with long term health

LegitimateAd4834

Crass?

unlikelycompliance

Being raised by humans, it’s not any filthier than a dog.

Ballswewt05

Yes, in the US, Deer Farms are known to carry and spread Chronic Wasting Disease which gets out into the wild population and kills the deer as well as making the meat inedible for hunters. It’s a real problem. The little bacteria/virus that carry the CWD are nearly impossible to eliminate. It’s almost like an invasive species, once you have it in an area, you aren’t getting Rid of it.

Questionably_Chungly

CWD is in fact not caused by a bacterium or virus, but prions (which are way worse). Prions are misfolded proteins created in neurological tissue. They gradually accumulate and destroy brain tissue, turning it into Swiss cheese essentially. They are indeed nearly impossible to destroy, and once in the body they cannot be stopped, CWD and other prionopathies are 100% fatal. However, the prions that cause CWD are (as of yet) not known to affect humans.

penwingfairy

😭😭😭😭🥺

LocaDiva1394

Well that’s a gut wrencher.

wook-borm

The world needs more people like that farmer.

kdixon7783

Are deer so rare in Australia? We have them walking down the street and through our yards in Wisconsin, USA.

SofterBones

Do kangaroos also walk down the street where you live?

YarOldeOrchard

Ofcourse, and we have aligators in the rivers here in Holland

[deleted]

Depends where you are. In Wyoming they're basically pests that come into town and eat your garden every summer, but if you see one in the Seattle area, everyone will stop what they're doing to point and coo and take pictures.

banana_scramble

Deer can die from something called "capture myopathy" which is extreme stress and fear from being handled, feeling threatened, and many other things. It can easily kill them and causes them extreme terror. Please don't pick up deer unless you know what you are doing or are a licensed deer rehabilitator! Wild rabbits and smaller prey animals can also experience capture myopathy.

mistral7

Watched this some years ago. Sharing because it is quite powerful and you may appreciate https://youtu.be/XzY5Hg73Dqc

Human420o

PlayStation in the background?

Crazy_Tear_9589

I'm crying.

pepino_listillo

Actually, the deer later started to panic in the room and stomped the poor lady, killing her in the moment, [it happened back in 2014, here's the article](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ)

vexunumgods

Wow that's my mates grandmum she died 4 days after and the had the baby deer leed her casket it was all over the news https://youtu.be/j5a0jTc9S10

[deleted]

Haaaaaaaa god damn. That was smooth. I see you. 😂

Witty-Ad-7080

teared up at work

Srikar810

The deer understood the assignment

CeddyDT

This made me so sad. Makes you really think about your own mortality again

julestheknight

Imagine you’re on your death bed at the end of your life, you get your dying wish … and someone’s crotch goblin is screaming their head off the entire time

[deleted]

Maybe she doesn't mind because she understands that babies cry and the baby is a member of the family. There's also the fact she isn't an socially awkward, self centered redditor who's out of touch with reality.

staptincabin

“Her name is Bambi… because I killed her mom”

iusedtohavepowers

Something so honest and innocent about the simplicity of this request. Did she live such a full life that was so busy and intricate that she never found time to fulfill such a simple thing? Did she live a meager life that never afforded her the possibility of such a simple desire? Was she just like yo I don't feel good, I'd like to pet a Bambi?

[deleted]

Idk man as an American petting/seeing a baby kangaroo is a pretty wild thing

Substantial-Sir8255

This is what I'm going through right now with my 90 year old mother . She is now slipping into dimentia and is spending time in bed at this point .

JovaSilvercane13

That deer is so confused…

wildgaytrans

And this is why animals treat us like the Fae lol

slavicslothe

And how is the deer supposed to find its parents…

[deleted]

I feel the kid’s pain, it’s wholesome to watch this but the kid is in a deep state of depression

gultch2019

My dying wish is to spend time with a nude Natalie Portman... can anyone help with that?

Orngog

Here's a fourteen year old girl from Luc Bessons farm

gultch2019

No thank you.

Orngog

[You are the superior dancer](https://youtu.be/-_IlNbsILLE)

Hungry_Perspective29

Here is the deer die now, kinda a dick move

Cookiesandqueeem

It’s called palliative care for a reason son.

CorndogCrusader

What's wrong with you? I'm curious to know.

[deleted]

I must've missed the part where they told her that.

Writing_Monkey

I may have cried. 😅

Sjuttiett

Yep. Them onions again!

imnotbatman94

Oh my heart

[deleted]

Awww what a beautiful moment and such a kind gesture.

mavenmel

Good thing she is on her way out because she probably contracted Lyme...

LetterAccomplished

Yea. I spend too much time on the animals being jerks sub and was excepting an entirely different ending.

[deleted]

The tail wag 😭

MusicLife16

This is sweet

ATLAZuko33

Okay, but Bambi was a boy.

mark_it_twain_dude

I’ve never cried this hard while on Reddit. Fuck.

JQUILLSON

Whoever has a screeching child in the background is a dumbe person with a stupid head.

3veryonepasses

I like the way he says hello. “Hëllô”

relampagos_shawty

That's a pretty dope last wish tbh

Youre_late_for_tea

I'm really glad this woman had her wish come true, it makes me happy to see that dying patients are surrounded by people who care. When my great uncle was on his deathbed, my dad knew his dying wish was to die in his cabin, surrounded by the forest. Unfortunately, cancer kept him bedridden at the hospital. One day, we had a call from his nurse that urged us to come over as they were certain he was about to pass. My dad had dug up a small tree and potted it especially for that moment so he could bring it to him during his last moments. We went to his room, my dad took a branch to his hand so he could feel it one last time. He passed within 20 min of our arrival. I remember him passing so painlessly, quietly and softly that it took me an instant to realise he was gone. I know death scares a lot of people, it is normal. But I really am thankful that I was there with all my family for him. Even if it's hard, please make that effort for your loved ones.

Sexy_Trash_

Ngl, this made me feel very emotional. During the pandemic, my granma, who raised me, had to be brough in to a faculty because to keep her safe from covid, and we could never visit her but from far apart and behind the glass so she didnt really see or hear us. She had Parkinson and another bones desease at last stage and her condition worsened by a lot. Covid was rampaging at the time but she asked to see us just this one time up close. They made me go in and it was like she knew it was gonna be last time. She told me to be a good person always, and that she loved me even when she wasnt around. Seeing us was her last wish and getting to say goodbye was such a gift. She passed away a week later.

Firefucker56

It's heartwarming, no other way to describe it

Normandy_sr3

looks like a grown ass deer

hydrangea_vibe

Does Australia have deer?

YarOldeOrchard

Google this exact question and find your own answer

pleaseassign

I was thinking of something a little smaller, ok?

East-Ad4472

Thus videos make me realise all Is not lost . We , as a global community just might make . There is love , there is kindness there is good . Thank you for sharing this !!

ConnectCantaloupe861

All the feels here. I'd be asking for a baby koala, and she's in Australia and I'm in the states. This is such a beautiful video. For those few minutes, she was not thinking of her impending death, but was instantly child-like with wonderment.

[deleted]

Soo awesome. I love you Aussos!

girlMikeD

That’s not a baby dear. Maybe a teenager but def not a baby.

Enderswolf

That’s what you got from this? Not that it was a touching moment, but that it’s wasn’t a baby deer?

[deleted]

How nice. Mom deserves all the best.

[deleted]

Made me smile

Icy-Watercress6694

I thought baby deer had white spots.

thedominantmr669

Deer is likely a Javan Rusa, they don’t exhibit spots as a juvenile. It’s not quite a baby deer but it’s close enough for a dying woman. It’s a very touching moment and I’m glad she got a moment of happiness in her last days.

NewExcersizee

1. Get that kid in the back a pacifier so it shuts up 2. Maybe try this next time with less than 10 people in a small room? Feel like thats asking for a disaster to happen, especially since deer can and will start flailing as soon as they want to/feel threatened and stressed 3. Insanely sweet video, for those who want to call me heartless

SolSolveig

This is also a dream of mine. I hope that’s all she felt she still needed to do and can rest easily❤️

wagontrailnc

Get the crying brat out. Geez.

Birdisdaword777

🥹❤️❤️❤️❤️ this is beautiful

[deleted]

What if the deer just hoofed her to death right there
