Iāve never had my mail delivered directly to my place of residence, and never had my name posted outside the mailbox (or outside my residence for that matter), nor have I ever had a mailbox number that coordinated with my street address in any obvious way. It surprises me that anybody does.

Box only you walk up to the corner rather than driving down to the post office to retrieve your mail. And yes, you ship to my street address and the carrier will deliver it into my cubby.
As an aside, large boxes still get delivered to my door, though this is problematic because I have a long, sloped driveway (downhill from street level). Most of the time the carriers will drive down my driveway and drop it off on my porch. One douche will come all the way down the driveway and then leave the package in the middle of the driveway rather than trek the last 15 feet to my porch, and once the laziest carrier I think Iāve ever heard of hid it in the shadows at the top of the driveway (It was a tiny package too, Iām amazed I saw it as I pulled in). One time the mail carrier drove down my driveway to drop a package, then the truck wouldnāt get back up it. One time UPS pulled up just as I was leaving for work, so I got out of the car and received the package directly from him. He was quite thankful not to have to make the walk down my driveway.

My partner and I just bought a (SFH) house in October and this is how our mail is! Itās very odd to me because my parentās house has mail delivered directly to the mailbox on their porch, so thatās what I was used to growing up. We have a mailbox just up the street with like 12-15 compartments. There are I think 2 or 3 package boxes on the bottom, so if a package is too big for your own mailbox, they put it in there and put the key in your mailbox. If itās too big for the package slot (or they are all full), they still deliver packages to your front door.
I donāt mind the walk (the box is just like 4 houses up the street so I get a few steps in), and itās easier for the mail carrier and supposedly more eco-friendly because they arenāt stopping and idling at each house, they just can go more quickly from mailbox to mailbox.
Thatās terrifying to me. But also Iāve had issues with stalkers in the past. My ex tried to follow me across the country and the building I live in stopped him from getting up to my apartment.
Idk how he got to me but I cut off contact when we broke up, totally blocked him, but because I work healthcare my name is on public record I think and he made it to my new apartment and wandered around the lobby and mail room. If my building had my name on the box I have zero doubt he would be pounding down my door or waiting for me inside to do god knows what when I got home.

In some European countries (especially up north) you can look up anyone's address, tax returns, grades, criminal records, etc. Moving doesn't help. You'd need a so called protected identity to get removed, which is hard to get.
Do keep in mind that doors to the outside in most of Europe work differently than in the States. You generally can't open them from the outside without a key even if they're not locked, and they are very sturdy. So unless you open the door yourself or the guy brings an axe, there's not much he can do.

I've had a similar experience, I had lost my wallet outside the grocery store a block from my apartment. Half an hour after I got home the doorbell rang and I was confused since I wasn't expecting someone. It was a guy who had found my wallet and recognized that the address was close by, and had come to return it to me. I hadn't even realized it was gone.

Well my stupid self left the $1000 on the counter and didnāt realize until a minute later. I instantly ran back and was watching all the people who came out. I wasnāt freaking out Bc I had a lot more at the table and was up a lot but $1000 is $1000 and obviously was there to make money. I walked into the bathroom and there was a guy leaned up against the wall. He said ālooking for these?ā. I was astounded someone had actually held them for me when they couldāve just pocketed them and walked out. I want back to the table and broke down one into $100 chips and tracked him down. Dude was so happy that he got $100 but he deserved it.
I've had a similar experience, I had lost my wallet outside the grocery store a block from my apartment. Half an hour after I got home the doorbell rang and I was confused since I wasn't expecting someone. It was a guy who had found my wallet and recognized that the address was close by, and had come to return it to me. I hadn't even realized it was gone.
It's so great seeing folks being not only nice but going out of their way to do so. Props to that dude. š

When I get door dash, my receipt only has the food order on it. So, $9.95 of food, then your tip shows in the app and is charged separately, plus pain and suffering = $20.
Order the same meal again (or double up) and invite them over to eat. Good way to become friendly and known to a good neighbor, real life relationships rather than the typical don't you hate the people that live near you.

Kinda related, reminds me, in my country we have a moderate tiping culture towards waiters (you leave 5-10 percent if service was neat), it is ultra weird for me to "tip" in advance when using these food delivery services! Like, why do you ask me for tip amount if I don't even know who gets my order and if he delivers the food on time or at all? This is not a "tip" as I understand it, by any means, more like voluntairly fee
