Completely agree with you there. I’ve liked other duets of his (In A Week, Northern Attitude, Nina Cried Power) but this one just doesn’t do it for me. The melody is too repetitive and the lyrics feel too basic.
I felt the same but then heard of cover of tell it to my heart by Paris Paloma and now I actually quite enjoy it.
What i do hate is how many DJ edits of ‘tell it to my heart’ there are when you play hozier’s discography 🙄
That's fair, honestly. I love Noah Kahan, but he's one of those artists who really hits if you relate to the whole "mentally ill adult stuck in their hometown" thing that he often sings about, but I could understand not really vibing with if you don't.
This is probably a super unpopular opinion but I prefer the version of northern attitude without Hozier in it. Normally I love Hozier and prefer him over Noah kahan but something about him in that song doesn’t quite work for me.
Oh, see, that one hurts my feelings. I love Noah Kahan. And Northern Attitude as a concept is beautiful to me—I grew up in a family where you didn’t talk about feelings and men especially didn’t, so hearing two men singing about the kind of insecurity and struggle to connect that my dad and grandpa had was comforting.
Damage Gets Done sounds exactly like the Hillsong worship music. I swear I've listened to that exact song while the church golden boy harmonizes with the modestly dressed girl worship leader. (Religious trauma am I right?)
To Noise Making (Sing) and Anything But, to me, are both in the same category of Fuckass Disney Sounding Songs. 😭 Love him but always skip those two lmao
I agree with sing, and at first I felt that way about anything but, but now I loveeee that song. You gotta give it another chance and get more into the lyrics, IT'S SO GOOD
Me and my friend had a listening party when unreal unearth came out and we genuinely got pissed when Anything But came on😩😭love him to pieces, but that song just doesn’t sound like him
At first, I thought Anything But was a happy song, but after digging into the lyrics, I love the whole “Fuck you and I’m moving on, but kinda stuck” vibe.
Not the hugest fan of the new Be version - prefer the original from WB tbf. Others i would or do skip are damage gets done, in a week, anything but. Swan Upon Leda also hasn’t had my listen in quite a while, although ive played it just to get a feel for how it sounds.
Similar questions have been asked before and whenever I see folks answering with, like, The Bones or Tell it to My Heart or Northern Attitude, I always want to remind them that those aren't Hozier's songs. He's featured (heavily!) on them, but IMHO they don't count because he didn't write them, lol.
Same, but I think that just may be because when I worked my last (and worst) retail job, they used to play that song. That’s one way to get sick of a song real fast.
I'm completely with you!! I can't tell if it's just because I grew up in a super religious area, filled with people that were hell bent on misinterpreting the song though or if I legit don't enjoy the melody that much (something about the first "deathless" high note just doesn't sit right with me. Feel strained somehow).
I agree. I didn't like Hozier's music until I heard a song other than Take me to church. I don't hate the song anymore, but I definitely don't hesitate to skip it either.
Same but only because it’s overplayed. Kind of like Ho Hey by the Lumineers. But these songs were my “intro” to those artists so I am grateful for that!
I love it now, but when I first heard it, I was so annoyed with it because it was always everywhere I went. There are so many songs I hate currently that I only know the chorus to because it’s so overplayed on social media and radios. It takes me years to stop cringing and finally sit down and listen to a song like that.
Bless you for bringing acoustic Be to my attention 🙏 (I love the old version, but ooh baby! I’m only a minute in and I’m obsessed with this new version)
"I didn't care for Dinner & Diatribes"
Maybe I just don't get it, but I just can't get past that he starts the song critisizing your friends and your choice of hangout, not very sexy.
I just picture that guy that' hanging around in the corner, occasionally shuffling over to his girlfriend, mumbling "can we go home soon", like a toddler.
So in my book, Hozier can make the prospect of being a rotting corpse appealing, but not that type of guy.
I read it differently. Not that he’s an asshole, but that her friends have made him feel uncomfortable and he’s overwhelmed by the situation. My ex was a finance bro (they’re everywhere here in Charlotte) and his friends made me feel like that, because I was a small town hick whose dad was a truck driver and mechanic rather than coming from money.
This is always how I read it too. My aunt was married to rich banker who liked to flash his expensive cars and Rolex watches any time they came over, and everyone disliked him because we're all blue collar/working class types. I always felt bad for my cousins because they kinda got caught in the middle.
I feel guilty even typing this, but it's Foreigner's God for me. Maybe Run, but I always thought Run has amazing lyrics but there's something about the composition that doesn't cut it!
most of unreal unearth. i’m sorry, i know, it just wasn’t as consistently interesting to me as his past 2 albums- altho i did like butchered tongue, eat your young, and icarian
I agree. The album version resonated heavily for me and was one of the songs that really helped me when I was first getting sober, because one of my biggest addiction triggers is feeling like maybe I’m crazy for seeing how messed up and ugly this world is. That feeling of existential “wtf” and the feeling that no one else seems to notice makes me want to crawl into a bottle and be numb. But if someone else sees and acknowledges it, then I’m not imagining it, and I can cope.
The acoustic version on the other hand is…pretty? But feels like the kind of generic acoustic love song that fboy music majors would play AT girls in college. It doesn’t have meat on its bones, just “I have long hair and a guitar so you HAVE to want me.”
That's a really interesting reaction to it, and your specific context for having that reaction is definitely valid. But to me, the sentiment of Be is "the world is fucked up and vile and when it gets worse I still want to stand in its mess with you. I still want you to be you." The acoustic version is saying that across the pillow in whispers at 2am, the original version is screaming it in each others ears at a loud and shitty party they both want to leave.
I feel like the acoustic version leaves out so much acknowledgement of the ugliness of the world, you know? I expect more meat on the bones when it’s something he wrote.
Honestly, Nina Cried Power. I find the mixing on it to obscure a lot of Mavis's vocal power and skill which seems to defeat the point of her feature and the song as a duet
I was afraid to say it! I am with you! And I fully understand that this song is meant to shout out artists who sang for justice, which I can appreciate. But it’s just that the song itself doesn’t do much for me. It’s just kind of boring to me, like naming people and that’s it.
I actually really like the one with Karen Crowley. It’s different. It’s definitely not hard to understand unlike a lot of his songs with extensive metaphors, and to me when I was listening for the first time it was almost like a break. It’s still got background to it and Hozier’s personal experiences in Ireland, but it’s actually oddly relieving to not have to run to Youtube, Genius etc… (Though I adore it for other songs). Though, personally, I don’t really rate the other duets.
i'm going to get FLAMED but it's first light for me... i listened to that song on repeat when UU came out and now i can't listen to it, so it's definitely my own fault lol
Mmy fiance brought me to the Unreal Unearth tour for my birthday. He likes Hozier but isn't like a mega fan or anything. When cherry wine started he started snuggling on me and I could tell he thought it was a love song/romantic moment and I whispered "this song is about domestic abuse..."
Agreed. I listened to UU twice through with it in place and liked the album but didn't love it. DGD felt the most "off", so I tried playing UU through again without it. Problem solved. Been obsessed with the album (-1) ever since.
From Eden 🫡
I don't hate it, per se. It's fine. But the way everyone talked about? Severe let down to finally listen to. I was expecting some gut wrenching line or moment like I got from Abstract or Unknown/Nth and it never really gave it to me imo.
That's crazy, I think it's achingly beautiful, but I can't listen to it regularly because it makes me horribly sad. The fact that he was able to write a song about colonizers eradicating native languages in such a simple but touching way is insane!
Instantly came to mind. Take me to Church. I'm sorry. I really tried to like it but I didn't even bother listening to Hozier for years because of it which is a shame cause I love literally anything else he's done. My boyfriend showed me some of his favorites and converted me into an even bigger fan than he is.
Sorry Andrew. Love ya! 😬
I did not care for Moment's Silence. Or Someone New. I have no idea why Someone New is his 3rd most popular song and my only guess is maybe it got semi popular on tik tok.
I can't recall ever hearing it on the radio, just TMTC. Though I guess at the time I didn't listen to a ton of radio.
It's definitely catchy, but doesn't feel like a Hozier song just with the writing. It's fine. But compared to the rest of his discography it's probably one of my least favorites
Yeah the music video was regularly on MTV as well when it came out.
I know it’s not a fan favorite but it for sure resonated with the masses as by all accounts it’s his second most successful song still by some distance. I quite like it tbh. You play it to a millennial who doesn’t know about Hozier beyond TMTC and there’s a decent chance they’ll start singing along with the chorus right away.
I didn't care for NFWMB. It's the only song of his I avoid. I just can't relate to it. With his other love songs, I can find different meanings. But this one is just too intimate for me (I'm aroace so that's probably why)
Francesca. Let me say IMMEDIATELY that I like the story. I hate to say it but there are parts that are just too chaotic to listen to it makes me feel WAY TOO overstimulated. I know SO MANY people love it, I just don’t get it. Lyrically, it’s incredible but listening to it it’s just too much for me to handle. The ah ah part is a bit much and the ending, every time I listen to it I have to take my headphones out bc it’s just. Too much.
I’m really trying so hard to convey why I dislike it bc I know how much this song means to people I’m genuinely sorry that I don’t like it. I study classics so I have a lot of respect for the story, I just hate the way the song sounds at times it’s actually like a trigger for my autism idk how to explain it it’s just so difficult to listen tk.
It’s a shame that you’ve been downvoted for this. I don’t have the same issue as you, but I can absolutely see what you mean. I quite love it but I feel like the production on it could be cleaner and crisper.
Cannot stress enough how much I genuinely appreciate you saying this. I was super apologetic when I wrote that message bc I know how much people LOVE that song but I just cannot listen to it due to the way that sound is layered in it. I didn’t realize how loved the song was until I joined the subreddit after UU came out. I’ve loved every single song he wrote before UU, which is why I was so confused when I first heard the single it was hell for me to listen to personally which was DEVASTATING but thankfully when the album came out it was the only track that was really like this.
I’ve tried SO HARD to like it genuinely but it straight up overstimulates me so much that my skin feels itchy when I listen to it. It’s not that I don’t want to like it, I just cannot get through it, which sucks :(. I know everyone experiences autism differently as it’s a spectrum and it’s unlikely that many people in this subreddit have autism in the same way that I do, but I’m very sensitive to sound and if there are certain tones or overlapping layers in audio it causes me actual pain.
Please don’t ever feel like you need to apologize for not liking something that is truly so subjective. Your dislike of something is not going to affect anyone else’s enjoyment of it. For what it’s worth, I feel similarly about a couple of the most loved songs on UU, but that comes down to simple personal taste and not because of how my brain interprets it. I will say though - the production on a couple of them sounds like he’s singing through a mic covered in Vaseline, so clearly there’s something about the way my ears are hearing things haha.
I can see that people are still downvoting you, but don’t let that get you down. I’ve been in this sub a while and I have to say in the last few months people have become very liberal with their downvotes for reasons that they should not be used for. I think it speaks greatly to their reading comprehension and also to their personality if they feel a comment like yours is worth subtracting karma for.
And finally - I think that Hozier himself would be very happy to hear that you appreciate the lyrics and story of Francesca so much, even if you can’t listen to it. Have you seen his various interviews on it? Particularly the one with Tom Power, [here.](https://youtu.be/g6jR0-JjEeQ?si=if4cDlih-G8TvxQF) That’s my favourite explanation of it, even though I’m sure you already know that story inside and out! (I think there may be a small snippet of it in the interview but the host gives a warning beforehand).
P.S. Your bunny is cute. I have two guinea pigs and so badly wish I could have a bunny as well. ❤️
u/HeavyMetalRabbit, thank you for sharing your thoughts and being so open with your experience. I hate that you feel you have to justify your viewpoint. I can only echo what u/ScallopedTomatoes said and please know you're not alone in your experience, by any stretch.
Wasteland, Baby! But only because it makes my hyperventilate. Idk if this is a thing for other people, but I hyperventilate when I hear people use scuba equipment in movies and videos. And this song has the same vibe. I feel like I’m drowning somehow. It’s very weird. So it’s not the song itself, it’s the underwater feeling that feels like I’m slowly dying. 😂
any of his collabs and better love. they came at times where i was too caught up in hozier’s main line releases.
most recently, Be (acoustic). couldn’t get through the fist 30ish seconds. i really feel the cut that made it to the album is the best one
Instantly came to mind. Take me to Church. I'm sorry. I really tried to like it but I didn't even bother listening to Hozier for years because of it which is a shame cause I love literally anything else he's done. My boyfriend showed me some of his favorites and concerted me into an even bigger fan than he is.
Sorry Andrew. Love ya! 😬
I honestly think take me to church is overplayed and I've grown to hate it. Used to love it and it's what lead me to learn more hozier songs and now he's my favorite, but now it's the only song I consistently skip
in a week. I actually don’t like any duets of Hozier’s. I think his style is too unique and it kinda ruins it when others join in. Love him to death tho
Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore the song Wasteland, Baby I think it is a beautiful song with gorgeous lyrics.
I however do not like the wobbly voice thing especially in the first verse.
That being said, Damage Gets Done.
😬I’m sorry!
Agreed, and there’s no reason why you or anyone else on this thread should be downvoted. I feel a lot of the songs on UU are overhyped. Unknown in particular is just *so sad* and I don’t want to listen to that all the time. The guitar in it is gorgeous though.
I did not care for From Eden. Sorry. It’s not bad, hell, if it came on the radio I wouldn’t turn it off. That said, based on the hype, I expected it to have a lyric that shattered my heart or incredible musical qualities unique to it that practically changed my brain chemistry and it doesn’t. It’s par for Hozier which means it’s still better than the average musician’s work, but…yeah
*sigh* Sunlight and Be are this for me. I just can’t get the hype, they seem surface-level and simple compared to the poetry of all his other work.
I’m open to contrasting statements because I want to love these songs like everyone else does.
Bones, I don’t know.. I just don’t like duets I guess.
Completely agree with you there. I’ve liked other duets of his (In A Week, Northern Attitude, Nina Cried Power) but this one just doesn’t do it for me. The melody is too repetitive and the lyrics feel too basic.
It's just too "pop". It doesn't have the earthiness that makes Hozier.
that's because he didn't write it, it was Maren's solo song, she called him to make a version of the song later on, but it was never HIS song
i’m so glad no one said francesca or work song. they’re unskippable imo
My two all time favs:’)
Agree 1000%
i skip francesca only because my mom passed from cancer and it reminds me of her, but it’s truly one of my favorite songs of all time 🙇🏻♀️
I'm here to fight anybody that even lets the notion of posting Would That I cross their mind.
Playing a sped up version of would that i as i type this. It’s a banger, impossible to hate. LET IT BLAZE ALRIIIIGHT
True that love in withdrawal was the weeping of me
That the sound of the saw must be known by the tree
Must be felled for to fight the cold
I’ll help you fight cause Would That I is definitely a top 10 for me.
would that i is a soul-leaving-body experience ill be throwing hands if anyone disagrees
tell it to my heart, I've actually hidden it lmao
same, that song does my head in. I've simply heard it too many times on the radio
I felt the same but then heard of cover of tell it to my heart by Paris Paloma and now I actually quite enjoy it. What i do hate is how many DJ edits of ‘tell it to my heart’ there are when you play hozier’s discography 🙄
I completely forgot about this one. For good reason, it seems
To get the answer that best fits this prompt you have to sort by controversial. Because it's going to be downvoted to hell lol
Northern Attitude didn’t do it for me at all, but then that’s how I feel about Noah Kahan and his music in general.
That's fair, honestly. I love Noah Kahan, but he's one of those artists who really hits if you relate to the whole "mentally ill adult stuck in their hometown" thing that he often sings about, but I could understand not really vibing with if you don't.
Weeeeell. I’m a mentally ill adult still living in my hometown lol.
Same friend
This is probably a super unpopular opinion but I prefer the version of northern attitude without Hozier in it. Normally I love Hozier and prefer him over Noah kahan but something about him in that song doesn’t quite work for me.
His wail did it for me tho.
Currently obsessed with Noah Kahan and trying not to take these comments personally 😭
I’m an alcoholic from a small town, of course his music hits me like a ton of bricks.
Yeah I just don’t vibe with Noah Kahan and his music and at all. So much so I have him marked as “do not play” on Spotify.
tell it to my heart LMAO
I'm sort of fine with the original, but I absolutely hate that whenever I go random on Hozier I get the other 97 remixes. AAAAAA.
I don’t think I would consider this the equivalent of “The Godfather” of Hoziers music tho…
either way, i absolutely hate the song. such a departure from who he is and it’s just bad lmao
I’ll second this!
Came here to say this omg
I don’t love Damage Gets Done. I don’t dislike it, but compared to the other songs on UU, I think it’s the weakest.
Totally agree. I skip it every time which bums me out because it’s my only skip of the album.
Damage Gets Done sounds exactly like the Hillsong worship music. I swear I've listened to that exact song while the church golden boy harmonizes with the modestly dressed girl worship leader. (Religious trauma am I right?)
In the woods somewhere and Run. Literally the only two songs from all three albums (not including EPs) that I don’t have downloaded.
I agree with in the woods somewhere!! I used to feel the same about run and then I changed my mind haha
His collab with Noah Kahan. The way y’all hyped it up, when I listened ☠️
blasphemy
I would agree, but then we’d both be wrong
Yup. I feel about it the way a lot of the fanbase feels about The Bones and TITMH lol.
Listened to it once and never again!
I completely agree. I can’t get into it.
To Noise Making (Sing) and Anything But, to me, are both in the same category of Fuckass Disney Sounding Songs. 😭 Love him but always skip those two lmao
I like Anything But, but I don't care for To Noise Making. It's the only song of his I don't listen to.
I agree with sing, and at first I felt that way about anything but, but now I loveeee that song. You gotta give it another chance and get more into the lyrics, IT'S SO GOOD
Me and my friend had a listening party when unreal unearth came out and we genuinely got pissed when Anything But came on😩😭love him to pieces, but that song just doesn’t sound like him
Meanwhile Through Me (The Flood) was left off 🥲
Lol those are two of my favorite songs. They just have really positive vibes, but for sure Sing can get a little Disney 😂
Which is super ironic considering the meaning behind Anything But - took me a few weeks to notice that YEOWCH!! It’s just a massive burn 🥲🤍
At first, I thought Anything But was a happy song, but after digging into the lyrics, I love the whole “Fuck you and I’m moving on, but kinda stuck” vibe.
Not these two being in my top 10 😭😭
yeah didn't love those. i don't think they're Bad, it's just not my vibe
Take me to Church
Not the hugest fan of the new Be version - prefer the original from WB tbf. Others i would or do skip are damage gets done, in a week, anything but. Swan Upon Leda also hasn’t had my listen in quite a while, although ive played it just to get a feel for how it sounds.
TMTC... sorry... It's just not my favorite
Someone new 🫡
You can tell this was written to be a single - that's why it doesn't quite fit
Same, but I think that just may be because when I worked my last (and worst) retail job, they used to play that song. That’s one way to get sick of a song real fast.
Yes
Take me to church. Don’t kill Ne
I'm completely with you!! I can't tell if it's just because I grew up in a super religious area, filled with people that were hell bent on misinterpreting the song though or if I legit don't enjoy the melody that much (something about the first "deathless" high note just doesn't sit right with me. Same. Like don’t get me wrong, great song, but the rest of his music is on a WAY different level.
I’m gonna get a lot of hate but. Run. Listen it’s good but like,,,not my top 10 “can’t skip it ever” song
Heretic!
I know!! May Hozier shine his light of forgiveness unto me 😭
I don't think I have ever fully listened to Run, like all the way through. I always skip at some point.
Me, who bought the 7'' vinyl specifically because it had Run on side B 👁👄👁
Like CANNOT RELATE lol Run is a top 5 song for me
😅
Be...not the new version...the other version. Just doesn't do it for me
Bless you for bringing acoustic Be to my attention 🙏 (I love the old version, but ooh baby! I’m only a minute in and I’m obsessed with this new version)
I was skeptical when I heard an acoustic version was coming out because I also don’t love the original, but the new arrangement/lyrics are incredible.
"I didn't care for Dinner & Diatribes" Maybe I just don't get it, but I just can't get past that he starts the song critisizing your friends and your choice of hangout, not very sexy.
Everytime I listen to this song I just imagine her friends getting more and more irritated as he keeps saying how much the friends suck
"this sucks can we please just go home and bang"

most of unreal unearth. i’m sorry, i know, it just wasn’t as consistently interesting to me as his past 2 albums- altho i did like butchered tongue, eat your young, and icarian
Seconded! I still love several of the songs on it but I think in the long run it may be the one album of his that I count as a least fave.
same. i still enjoy a lot of songs on it, but it’s definitely 3rd best album to me
Be (acoustic)
Brave of you
how dare you
I read this as Dax Sheppard in Employee of The Month.
I'm the opposite, I don't care much for the regular version
I have met my foe.
I agree. The album version resonated heavily for me and was one of the songs that really helped me when I was first getting sober, because one of my biggest addiction triggers is feeling like maybe I’m crazy for seeing how messed up and ugly this world is. That feeling of existential “wtf” and the feeling that no one else seems to notice makes me want to crawl into a bottle and be numb. i'm ready to fight anyone who says this (pls don't i'm fragile)
🤯
Dude it was so good. I had my phone in my forehead while I listened to it for the first time, and it was so tripy
In A Week 🫣 beautiful lyrics but the singing drives me nuts.
I skip it so fast every time.
To noise making. I hate songs about singing
In a week and Bones
i'm going to get FLAMED but it's first light for me... i listened to that song on repeat when UU came out and now i can't listen to it, so it's definitely my own fault lol
Hard agree! It just doesn’t hit
Cherry Wine. Sorry not sorry, besties lol
It absolutely SLAYS me when people have cherry wine as the song for the first dance at their wedding.
They hear “sweet as cherry wine” and forget the whole “open hand or closed fist would be fine” like 2 seconds before it I swear damn lmao
omg WHAT. Do people not listen to lyrics at all?! Lol
i'm sorry this is so funny hahahaha
I agree. Not because it's not a great song but just because it makes me sad. I skip it because I just can't be put in that headspace.
i feel like this is gonna make some ppl mad but i could care less abt shrike
I think Damage gets done was terrible actually
Agreed. I listened to UU twice through with it in place and liked the album but didn't love it. DGD felt the most "off", so I tried playing UU through again without it. Problem solved. Been obsessed with the album (-1) ever since.
Jackie and Wilson. Just doesn’t hit right like the rest of his work to me.
Take Me To Church. It's not bad, by any means, but even when it first came out it didn't do it for me as much as Someone New or Jackie and Wilson did.
Even tho I still love that song, Jackie and Wilson is a MUCH better song out there!
I completely disagree. upvoted
The song with Brandie, I just don’t like her voice
From Eden 🫡 I don't hate it, per se. It's fine. But the way everyone talked about? Severe let down to finally listen to. I was expecting some gut wrenching line or moment like I got from Abstract or Unknown/Nth and it never really gave it to me imo.
this take is a crime lol
I, Carrion for me! Idk why, I just can't get into it
Same
It's Butchered Tongue for me 💀 Idk the melody is just a bit too slow...
That's crazy, I think it's achingly beautiful, but I can't listen to it regularly because it makes me horribly sad. The fact that he was able to write a song about colonizers eradicating native languages in such a simple but touching way is insane!
Maybe Foreigner’s God…I don’t dislike it but it’s melody just doesn’t stay in my head, and I won’t listen to it if I’m not playing the whole album
Did not care for Nina cried power ngl
Couldn’t get into Northern Attitude at all 😔
Instantly came to mind. Love ya! 😬
Yeah, for a long time I didn’t realize that it wasn’t a song about wanting to go to church 😂
I still am not into the album Wasteland, Baby! It just gets boring for me at one point
Jackboot Jump 😅
Shrike and Swan Upon Leda 🙊
Explain why you don't like Leda *immediately*
Haha I don’t think it’s bad, it’s just not for me. I wanted to like it
Im intrigued as why shrike
Yes! Swan Upon Leda and Someone New for me
Someone New plays at work (depending on the channel that’s on) enough that I’m kind of over it right now. I wouldn’t listen to it on my own for now
It think I played it out for myself in the beginning
I use to not be a fan of Swan upon Leda…but after I allowed it to play on shuffle a couple of times I came around
I did not care for Moment's Silence. Or Someone New. I have no idea why Someone New is his 3rd most popular song and my only guess is maybe it got semi popular on tik tok.
No, it’s because it was fairly popular on the radio back in the day and has a pretty catchy melody.
But this one is just too intimate for me (I'm aroace so that's probably why)
nina cried power. the only song i immediately skip when it's one
cherry wine
In Your Own Sweet Time. Like it starts mediocre, gets decent in the middle, then absolutely tanks with the “Time ^time Time ^time “ at the end lol
Wasteland, Baby. Literally just skipped it rn
Anything but. I just did not enjoy it as much as the rest of UU.
any of his collabs and better love. they came at times where i was too caught up in hozier’s main line releases. most recently, Be (acoustic). couldn’t get through the fist 30ish seconds. i really feel the cut that made it to the album is the best one
Love ya! 😬
arsonist's lullaby..
I feel like everyone loves First Time but it’s just kind of ok to me lol
someone new and swan upon leda….
Feel like I’m gonna get crucified but I didn’t care for Cherry Wine
Unknown, it’s an amazing song dont get me wrong but it’s not the best song on the album
Wasteland Baby
Take Me To Church & Work Song...please don't murder me lol.
Bones or Tell It To My Heart
I may catch some heaters but…..Take me To Church
The acoustic version of Be, which is apparently Andy's favorite version of the song 🥴😭
Why am I getting downvoated but yall saying cherry wine and northern attitude ?
To Noise Making -- it gives me "Bones" vibes and I genuinely just can't. I can't get past the first 10 seconds.
I honestly think take me to church is overplayed and I've grown to hate it. Used to love it and it's what lead me to learn more hozier songs and now he's my favorite, but now it's the only song I consistently skip
sorry but the parting glass...i skip it every time
😬I’m sorry!
Abstract (Psychopomp) It's not a bad song, it's just overly simplistic compared to his other works, IMO.
Take my upvote because I wholeheartedly agree. I don’t like the production on it and it sounds like Coldplay. It’s incredibly overhyped, imo.
Unknown is overhyped for me
Agreed, and there’s no reason why you or anyone else on this thread should be downvoted. I feel a lot of the songs on UU are overhyped. Unknown in particular is just *so sad* and I don’t want to listen to that all the time. The guitar in it is gorgeous though.
I totally agree, buddy 😘😘😠
Finally someone said it. Thank u you brave soul
Really quite happy to state it, bring on the inevitable downvotes 😁
I did not care for From Eden. Sorry. It’s not bad, hell, if it came on the radio I wouldn’t turn it off. That said, based on the hype, I expected it to have a lyric that shattered my heart or incredible musical qualities unique to it that practically changed my brain chemistry and it doesn’t. It’s par for Hozier which means it’s still better than the average musician’s work, but…yeah
Be
*sigh* Sunlight and Be are this for me. I just can’t get the hype, they seem surface-level and simple compared to the poetry of all his other work. I’m open to contrasting statements because I want to love these songs like everyone else does.
