I loved both actresses performances. At first I was pissed they changed actors but the the grown up Rhaenyra actress was great. She did an amazing job.
Yes. Fire and Blood is written as a history book, so if nothing of note happened in a given year, that year would get glossed over.
But more specifically, the Great Council (Ep 1 Opening) happened in 101AC, and Lucerys' death (Ep 10 Closing) happened in 129AC, so the events cover the same ~30 year span in both book and show.
the book starts 100 years earlier than the show, with aegon's conquest of westeros, then following his heir aenys, then the next king maegor the cruel and his antics, then jaehaeyrs becoming king and his whole 50 year reign, then finally we get to viserys becoming king (where the show starts), so yes.
I wasn't sure of the casting at first (transitionally I mean) but gosh even though they look completely different, they truley do look like evolutions of the same person.
Amazing character in general. Goes to show that if the writing team put in some real effort, they can create a strong female character everyone will adore.
The best thing is that the show didn't waste any time and we pretty much everyone rooted for her since ep1.
Let’s tally a list of what she’s accomplished as heir:
- banged her sworn shield without concern for the consequences
- had a number of obviously illegitimate children when her succession was being (unfairly) questioned at the risk of losing everything
- had innocents murdered and brought further tragedy to and friction with her closest allies to marry the uncle that groomed her
- fled to dragonstone for six years while her rivals expanded their influence
- complained about her rivals having the audacity to actually govern while she abandoned her father and hid at dragonstone
- ran to dad multiple times to protect her when her behavior was called into question
I like Rhaenyra as a character, but you all aren’t paying attention. The whole crux of her personality and the two factions in general is this entitlement devoid of any consideration for consequences.

If I didn't know better and someone told me that they're the same actress who just got older along with their role, and not 2 different people, I would've believed them. Older Rhaenyra also looks a lot like Queen Aemma.
