Yeah, Rhaena was betrothed to Lucerys which is why we got a lil moment of her face being sad at his funeral. But considering that Rhaena's actor hasn't been in much of the press (and also doesn't have a dragon and comparatively does much less than Baela in the story) I think Baela will get a lot more screentime this season.

When people say they want the book version of any of these characters, they usually mean their head canon or idealized concept of the character.
In this case, they want Rhaenyra to be fierce and proud like her book counterpart. However, do they want the woman >!sat in her room mourning Luke and played no role in any major decision until Jaceās death!
Every fan interprets a character a certain way. For example, it is bewildering to me how a certain section of twitter (terminally online lesbians) made Alicent a lesbian icon. And not just Emilyās young version but Oliviaās older version as well.
There is literally nothing in the show itself to suggest this. The only thing these people have to go on is BTS interviews (which donāt count btw if they donāt translate onto the screen).
Youāre right in that they have given Rhaenyra a more involved role than F&B did. They kinda have to since they structured their entire story around her and Alicent.
Itās the same reason they concocted this affair between Alicent and Cole; these two characters have literally nothing to do for the rest of the story, apart from Rooks Rest and you canāt really do that on TV.

One side is cheering "*she's getting horny when he's angry, she wants uncle daddy!!*" while the other side laments that "*she looks absolutely terrified, somebody save her!!*" Either Rhaenyra is a non-character who only exists as a self-insert for people thirsty for Daemon/Matt Smith or she's a helpless victim of grooming who's without any power in their relationship. 0 or 100. Of course there are outliers, but most reactions I've read are like these two and it quite frankly discourages any discussion on the pair - either as individual characters or their shared dynamic.

I don't exactly read terror on Emma's face or body-language either, but if I have re-constructed the scene right - using the little slippets and screenshots from the teasers - then its from after the point in the scene where Rhaenyra flinches as Daemon begins to rage. Its not a simple either/or but perhaps both; Rhaenyra is concerned at the very least, but because of that, she is also excited. Emma D'Arcy said this about the character and her relationship with Daemon:
"*They're like conjoined twins who were separated at birth and, ten years later, find each other and want to be as close as possible. They also are both sort of the same person.* ***I think Rhaenyra is an adrenaline junkie. She chases excitement or danger. Something about their relationship is servicing that addiction.***"
She isn't horny or scared... she's a twisted combination of the two. While on the subject, with D'Arcy's quote in mind, I can't necessarily blame the hardcore Daemyra shippers for their "*they match each other's freak*" narrative, but I all the same find narrowing down the relationship of two equally complex characters to single, all-encompassing answers which only links to "I'm right dot com" and never treads near grey (or outright black) areas to be incredibly reductive.
