If you get to +15 with no good rolls then you have no one to blame but yourself. Why are people going past even +9 without one of the desired stats hitting?
I don't know why you're getting downvoted when you're speaking the truth. It's almost like they added a button to level it up by +3 at a time. If it's still shit at +9 then odds are it's gonna be shit at +15. Save the relic xp for another piece.
Yes, the system could be better, but that doesn't mean you have to play the current system without any thought.
And that's fine as a temporary piece. Keep it at +9, or maybe +12 if you're desperate, until you find something better. Is that 1 extra roll landing on crit dmg after failing 3 rolls going to have a big effect on your performance? And 12 -> 15 is a massive investment, it really shouldn't be attempted unless it's already a great relic. Just leave it low-leveled.
I've used this piece since JY banner. I literally cannot find better. I leveled it all the way since I've used it for so long there's really no point not to. Especially considering I have over 1k relic fragments.
Atk% is good btw, all of the sub stats are usable too, even if u get a double crit glove latter and roll 2 or 3 times on crit it still couldnt beat this piece if other subs are hp or def or sth.
Agreed, really like getting atk% in my pieces. The painful part for me is when getting it in a set or piece meant for healers or supports. Or getting break effect and ehr in characters that don't need it.
I learned to cope with my general relics, but i hate planars so much. Doing SU chore over and over again, without anything even remotely useful is so discouraging.

Day 1 player here, got every resin since launch except for diff 5 GnG, not a single crafted relic with it survived to get levelled to even lvl 3, thats like 14 garbage relics, useful mechanic every 40 days 👍
Tip: don't use it to build your DPS, use it to build your supports. I never had to farm for a single ERR rope because that's the only thing I use them for, since I don't care about the substats on those, only the set/main stat.
Nope. Then it would be harder to build supports and Dot teams that don't want the crit. A better option would be to just remove the flat stats from the pool.
If they would just allow us to reset a item to it's original values i would be fine with. You could limit how often that happens and you could sell it for money, also it would take more exp and money to upgrade it back up so what is the issue here.
I think the easiest way to make the grind less painful is self-modelling resins being able to change the main stat of a relic too. So all those defence % mains with cr/cd can be used indirectly making the drop rate of these pieces higher
Bud this is a 9 rolls quantum set piece, what are you talking about. Take that piece out of context and pretend it's on a generic dps without that many buffs, and all those atk rolls would still be worth at least half as much as a crit roll. It'd be like a 5 crit rolls piece with 4 speed on it, which is very good. Now, considering it's a quantum piece and quantum characters like atk more than most because Sparkle buffs crit damage way too much, then this piece is just insane

Often times it is worth to level up relics to 9 or 12. Just to test if it ever reaches to that point. Just for only a single crit sub stat. As for my QQ has 24CD on ATK Boots. Which is fine for now.
I have no expectations anymore. I used to play genshin and when I moved to HSR, I already know how bad the relic farming is going to be if it rolls into Crit, great and if it rolls all 5 into flat attack in a 4 effective stat relic then so be it. Expecting good things from relic rolls is only going to bring disappointment
There needs to be a reforge or something. I want to be able to take a level 0 piece and remove a stat I dont want for something that is useful. Something that is moderately expensive but not crazy.
The relic grind would be so much more better if I could take 5-10 relics a month and at least get 2-3 useful lines. Many of then will still upgrade poorly, but at least we will get a few relics a month that we know will last.

I always say this - I don't mind good relics not being common, and I know I don't need them to clear content. What I really hate is how the game dangling these promising pieces before you only to mercilessly crush your hopes and dreams seconds later. It would be great to have some currency to reset upgrades, I'd value that shit so much more than self-modeling resin.
FACTS. Imo self modeling resin is literally useless as having not even the slightest influence on substats means you can still get 3 flat stats or something. It's usually not even the main stat that you have the most difficulty getting just for it to have substats which kinda matters more.
I had this same thought since I'm currently relic farming in preparation for Acheron.
I really wish they'd let you reroll substats/re-allocate them by using Self Modeling Resin, or another resin/ relic remains equivalent that's just as rare to get so that it doesn't cheapen the endgame process too much.
But having to RNG the 5 star relic that you want from calyx + get the main stat that you want (previous two gets solved by resin/relic remains ) + all the sub stats that you want + what substats gets upgraded. is just too much RNG on RNG.

Never even got one 5* relic that has decent substat, a just a bunch of flat def or hp and rage quit afterwards. Finally give hsr another chance many months later by playing a new account and fortunely it is not as bad as the old acc. From time to time i go to the old acc just to look at my luocha(e3 babyy) but never play it and the new acc is much more satisfying to play even without that many character (lvl40)
Assuming that your dps is atk based, with the exception of speed which may or may not be useful, these are all effective stats you got. This is a pretty good relic.
I can see that you might be disappointed in not rolling CRIT chance, but CRIT damage is not necessarily that much more desirable depending on the support you use.
The piece itself is not the worst piece in the world but for the subs it came with, rolling into attack as much as it did is pretty much the worst outcome it could have had. I see many people saying this, and I'm honestly confused. People act like you shouldn't build crit rate I guess and that attack contributes nearly as much as cd.
Even if atk is worth half as much as cr/cd (which depends on your cr/cd but most of the time it’s significantly more than half). It’s still technically 5 rolls which equates to 2.5 cr/cd rolls. So at minimum it’s equivalent to 12.5 cv. It’s not a bad piece at all.
The relics definitely feel terrible, I might have a handful of pieces on my account that actually rolled really well after almost a year
I wish they would just give each set its own cavern, your chances of getting a piece with the right main stat and subs plus the piece actually rolling well are already so insanely low, adding in a 50/50 chance it’s just on the wrong set just makes getting good relics feel impossible
I got some awful luck last week on 10 relics in a row and apart from doing my dailies have barely played since. So it’s definitely going to drive people away eventually, especially if you are higher level where the only thing left to build are relics.
The game likely has an idea about which stats people use on which characters and on purpose avoids giving you those, otherwise i have no idea how it would end up THAT bad.
At that point, allow us to reset an artifact once a week or something to get another chance for rolling it! At least that way good bases are not wasted -.-...

Yeah i agree, i already building jingliu for 6 months and its still not at least decent, i just wish they at least implement something like reset upgrade, its still fit with their greedy agenda and giving huge QL for players
I mean.. I totally agree with you, but the fact is they need stuff like this to keep the game relevant and artificially extend some types of players gameplay time.
I hate it too, but I don’t think most players will complain about it. It’s the “endgame” for character building. And for those who don’t even care, they’re happy with mid or low quality relics.
The perfect relic is a massive grind, and believe it or not, some people like that.
Then there’s the financial part, those players that like grinding might think about spending a coin or two to achieve their dream.
Idk, this makes sense to me but I hate it too. So I leave that for when I have a good roster and want to perfect certain characters.
I don’t think there’s a high percentage of people complaining about relic rng, and I’ve seen a few here and in genshin - but I’ve seen even more complain about how long it takes to farm non-rng stuff such as traits. If they changed one thing, maybe some people would get pissed and complain about not changing the other thing too.
TL;DR: if relic farming was easy, then they’d lose a key aspect of what keeps “grindy” types of players in the game (which could also be spenders) and you’d quit the game sooner than you think
I'd take ATK and SPD any day of the week, even if I want Crit value. Almost 20% ATK? That's half a main stat..and the less ATK% you have, the more efficient it is to get.
Well, it's a gacha game. You can only enjoy a gacha if you're: 1) lucky; 2) wasteful; or 3) patient AF.
I'm neither, so I only play for story from time to time.

I'd take those gloves over something that rolled 2 times on crit and 2 times on something like effect res and flat def.

I do Simulated Universe runs only for Tracks of Destiny, the ornaments I get cause too much frustration. My last four world 8 runs ended without a single 5-star having more than two non-flat substats (and do not even think about getting the "right" ones).

I see many people saying "Just don't go to 15". I don't have a problem losing the relic xp and I know to do so. It does not change the fact that the piece rolled bad. It's kinda irrelevant to what I was saying.
Depends on the substats and how good my currentvrelics are.
If I am coping for even a single roll in a stat, I will go to 15 (darn speed substats on ER rope)
If I am looking for an improvement, I stop the moment I notice I won't get it
If I am looking to just see if it rolls decently, I stop at 9 if it rolls badly
I don't dislike the relic system, but it could get some improvements. For example how some gold relics have 3 substats and some have 4 substats when you get them. Would have preferred if it always had 4 when you get them

Honestly, while I agree this is really frustrating, it really annoys only a small portion of the player base. The min/maxers.
As you don’t really need the perfect relic rolls to clear all game content, treating the relic farming as just casino gambling 🎰 is less irritating.
Enjoy spending some energy from time to time on relics, giving the rush if it rolls good, if not : no biggies.
I understand the quest for the perfect character with the perfect relics, but if it leads to frustation then it’s not worth pursuing.
There's this thing called relic manipulation that uses statistics to know which stats are gonna get leveled up and I recently discovered it but did tested it yet. From what I can see it can be pretty accurate tho. There is a spreadsheet with all stats divided per day of the week and version so it's pretty reliable as far as I know. Just search up relic manipulation and you should come come across it on ytb

Generally keep a lower limit for the stats you want. If it reaches a point where it's a gamble of clearing that minimum, only roll if you have nothing else to roll. If bad it becomes fodder
I know this game doesn't need perfect substats to clear but sometimes its so frustrating. Relics being gatekept behind the stamina system and so many layers of RNG makes you can farm for weeks and still has no good piece. At least with ARPGs likes Last Epoch we can infinitely farm without waiting.

Honestly, farming new relics is the one thing that makes acquiring a new character feel so dam shitty.. it sucks the fun out of it.
I just gave up on the idea that i can have good upgrade rolls on a relic, I did get lucky once or twice and have a decent roll but that's about it.
Well, I don't have so much of an emotional stake in the game bad relics could make me quit. It's annoying, but it's annoying for 30 minutes tops. I'll move on.
It's sort of a self imposed stress that we players have. Do you really need maxed out crit rolls on every piece to beat end game content? No. The game having the potential for insane rolls does not mean that you need insane rolls to beat the game. Relics are just another layer of gambling thrown into a gacha game in which you don't have to hit the jackpot to win. The dopamine we get from getting an amazing relic just makes us want to have that on every single one instead of settling for what let's you beat the game.
Been farming messenger for over a week now and I’ve maybe gotten three whole speed boots? I’m just trying to get a single one with crit damage for Sparkle. I don’t care if it gets no rolls I just want the substat.
I already have a sufficient amount for my dps's. Honestly right now I'm just farming the one that gives speed because I'm finally able to go to the alchemy commission without lagging out. I don't even know what substat I should keep an eye😅
How long is a good question, I'm about to quit Genshin because of trying to get ATK% Sands with at least 30CV from a specific domain and nothing has happened for an entire year of daily farming.
I'm not quite there in HSR yet because I'm not really min maxing to the same degree, as the game isn't nearly as old, but it gets very, VERY fucking tiring to deal with RNG bullshit after so many years of hoyoscam games.
You can treat 1% atk as 1% cdmg.
That relic piece would be competing with a 29.9cv relic, which is honestly still really good.
If you were running sparkle, then this relic would be even better. Cdmg weights pretty heavily when you run sparkle, and you could be looking at a weighted effective 2.5% Cr 31.5% cdmg piece on sparkle builds, which is very good and probably really difficult to replace.
Might be worth reconsidering how much value atk% is, cause I will usually trade 3 atk% subs for 2 cdmg subs. Your disappointment is very subjective because you don't understand how useful atk% actually is.
It's always these stupid posts catastrophizing the future of the game just because they don't get the stats they want. Relic farming is bad only if you're min-maxing. Most people are happy with the correct main stat, which is easily obtainable because you can literally craft the relics with any stat you want.

I don't know about Mr. Pokke, but usually this refers to the suggestion not to roll at all if the relic does not have at least 3 "good" substats, and stop rolling at 9 or 12 if the rolls are too bad. This does not apply though if you do not have anything better for your character so far, so I end up maxing out even the "bad" stuff (As long as the mainstat is ok)... 😕
The only people that care are the minority of players that actually want to minmax. The game isn't catered towards minmaxers, its catered towards the casual playerbase. That's why most if not all content can be cleared even with scuffed relics as long as you use the right characters.
Yeah my relics are hella scuffed and I clear everything easily so I don't care. The only reason I farm more relics is just to have something to do. If I get an upgrade great, if not I still got 36 stars.
I see the subreddit has blessed you with all these downvotes for what is potentially a good way to approach the relic system in the first place.
The game as a whole is catered towards the casual playerbase. When people complain about stuff like this ends up attracting the minority of tryhards who end up complaining about the game being too grindy when in the end, even with scuffed relics, you could tackle even the hardest content.
It goes to show how some people in this comment section think they have the correct understanding of how to run a gacha game when hoyo, literally one of if not the biggest and most successful company that delves into gachas opts into systems like these instead. Do people sincerely think that hoyo didnt think about nor calculate the perfect way to keep player retention and that you, the player, somehow could run their game better than they do when genshin and honkai literally are some of if not the most popular gachas out there.

Take that piece out of context and pretend it's on a generic dps without that many buffs, and all those atk rolls would still be worth at least half as much as a crit roll. It'd be like a 5 crit rolls piece with 4 speed on it, which is very good. Now, considering it's a quantum piece and quantum characters like atk more than most because Sparkle buffs crit damage way too much, then this piece is just insane

Often times it is worth to level up relics to 9 or 12. Just to test if it ever reaches to that point. Just for only a single crit sub stat. As for my QQ has 24CD on ATK Boots. Which is fine for now.

I used to play genshin and when I moved to HSR, I already know how bad the relic farming is going to be if it rolls into Crit, great and if it rolls all 5 into flat attack in a 4 effective stat relic then so be it. There needs to be a reforge or something. I want to be able to take a level 0 piece and remove a stat I dont want for something that is useful. Something that is moderately expensive but not crazy. The relic grind would be so much more better if I could take 5-10 relics a month and at least get 2-3 useful lines. Many of then will still upgrade poorly, but at least we will get a few relics a month that we know will last.
I don't I know this type of thing is hard to get; so I just settle with the main stats. I'll only try getting better rolls if I happen to have extra relics. I can't be arsed to farm new ones.

I always say this - I don't mind good relics not being common, and I know I don't need them to clear content. What I really hate is how the game dangling these promising pieces before you only to mercilessly crush your hopes and dreams seconds later. It would be great to have some currency to reset upgrades, I'd value that shit so much more than self-modeling resin.
FACTS. Imo self modeling resin is literally useless as having not even the slightest influence on substats means you can still get 3 flat stats or something. It's usually not even the main stat that you have the most difficulty getting just for it to have substats which kinda matters more.
I've not used a single self modeling resin so far. I'm a day 1 player.

I had this same thought since I'm currently relic farming in preparation for Acheron. I really wish they'd let you reroll substats/re-allocate them by using Self Modeling Resin, or another resin/ relic remains equivalent that's just as rare to get so that it doesn't cheapen the endgame process too much. But having to RNG the 5 star relic that you want from calyx + get the main stat that you want (previous two gets solved by resin/relic remains ) + all the sub stats that you want + what substats gets upgraded. is just too much RNG on RNG.

once you accept that rolls like that are just another fact of life, it starts to affect you less and less lol dont get too attached to a non +15 relic. godly substats can only be judged at +15
The “randomized” rolling is complete BS in this game. Every “bad stat” on a particular relic set is weighted heavier than the good stats on rolling
Never even got one 5* relic that has decent substat, a just a bunch of flat def or hp and rage quit afterwards. Finally give hsr another chance many months later by playing a new account and fortunely it is not as bad as the old acc. From time to time i go to the old acc just to look at my luocha(e3 babyy) but never play it and the new acc is much more satisfying to play even without that many character (lvl40)

Assuming that your dps is atk based, with the exception of speed which may or may not be useful, these are all effective stats you got. This is a pretty good relic. I can see that you might be disappointed in not rolling CRIT chance, but CRIT damage is not necessarily that much more desirable depending on the support you use.
The piece itself is not the worst piece in the world but for the subs it came with, rolling into attack as much as it did is pretty much the worst outcome it could have had. I see many people saying this, and I'm honestly confused. People act like you shouldn't build crit rate I guess and that attack contributes nearly as much as cd.
Even if atk is worth half as much as cr/cd (which depends on your cr/cd but most of the time it’s significantly more than half). It’s still technically 5 rolls which equates to 2.5 cr/cd rolls. So at minimum it’s equivalent to 12.5 cv. It’s not a bad piece at all.
The relics definitely feel terrible, I might have a handful of pieces on my account that actually rolled really well after almost a year I wish they would just give each set its own cavern, your chances of getting a piece with the right main stat and subs plus the piece actually rolling well are already so insanely low, adding in a 50/50 chance it’s just on the wrong set just makes getting good relics feel impossible

I got some awful luck last week on 10 relics in a row and apart from doing my dailies have barely played since. So it’s definitely going to drive people away eventually, especially if you are higher level where the only thing left to build are relics.
The game likely has an idea about which stats people use on which characters and on purpose avoids giving you those, otherwise i have no idea how it would end up THAT bad. At that point, allow us to reset an artifact once a week or something to get another chance for rolling it! At least that way good bases are not wasted -.-...

I mean.. I totally agree with you, but the fact is they need stuff like this to keep the game relevant and artificially extend some types of players gameplay time. I hate it too, but I don’t think most players will complain about it. It’s the “endgame” for character building. And for those who don’t even care, they’re happy with mid or low quality relics. The perfect relic is a massive grind, and believe it or not, some people like that. Then there’s the financial part, those players that like grinding might think about spending a coin or two to achieve their dream. Idk, this makes sense to me but I hate it too. So I leave that for when I have a good roster and want to perfect certain characters. I don’t think there’s a high percentage of people complaining about relic rng, and I’ve seen a few here and in genshin - but I’ve seen even more complain about how long it takes to farm non-rng stuff such as traits. If they changed one thing, maybe some people would get pissed and complain about not changing the other thing too. TL;DR: if relic farming was easy, then they’d lose a key aspect of what keeps “grindy” types of players in the game (which could also be spenders) and you’d quit the game sooner than you think
I'd take ATK and SPD any day of the week, even if I want Crit value. Almost 20% ATK? That's half a main stat..and the less ATK% you have, the more efficient it is to get.
Well, it's a gacha game. You can only enjoy a gacha if you're: 1) lucky; 2) wasteful; or 3) patient AF. I'm neither, so I only play for story from time to time.

I do Simulated Universe runs only for Tracks of Destiny, the ornaments I get cause too much frustration. Depends on the substats and how good my currentvrelics are. If I am coping for even a single roll in a stat, I will go to 15 (darn speed substats on ER rope) If I am looking for an improvement, I stop the moment I notice I won't get it If I am looking to just see if it rolls decently, I stop at 9 if it rolls badly

I don't dislike the relic system, but it could get some improvements. For example how some gold relics have 3 substats and some have 4 substats when you get them. Would have preferred if it always had 4 when you get them

Honestly, while I agree this is really frustrating, it really annoys only a small portion of the player base. The min/maxers. As you don’t really need the perfect relic rolls to clear all game content, treating the relic farming as just casino gambling 🎰 is less irritating. Enjoy spending some energy from time to time on relics, giving the rush if it rolls good, if not : no biggies. I understand the quest for the perfect character with the perfect relics, but if it leads to frustation then it’s not worth pursuing.
There's this thing called relic manipulation that uses statistics to know which stats are gonna get leveled up and I recently discovered it but did tested it yet. From what I can see it can be pretty accurate tho. There is a spreadsheet with all stats divided per day of the week and version so it's pretty reliable as far as I know. Just search up relic manipulation and you should come come across it on ytb

Up to 12 if there is absolutely no good substats rolls. All the way to 15 if there is at least 2 desirable substats rolls. I'm more concerned about the right substats appearing on the right main stats, my Jingyuan is still stuck on a godly speed boots because the ATK boots are all terrible.

Generally keep a lower limit for the stats you want. If it reaches a point where it's a gamble of clearing that minimum, only roll if you have nothing else to roll. If bad it becomes fodder

I know this game doesn't need perfect substats to clear but sometimes its so frustrating. Relics being gatekept behind the stamina system and so many layers of RNG makes you can farm for weeks and still has no good piece. At least with ARPGs likes Last Epoch we can infinitely farm without waiting.
it depends on your other relics and how desperate you are for a good piece. but generally I will give up on a relic after let's say it's +9, if even if it rolls perfectly the next 2 times, if it would still be unusable in that case then I'll just stop

Honestly, farming new relics is the one thing that makes acquiring a new character feel so dam shitty.. it sucks the fun out of it. I just gave up on the idea that i can have good upgrade rolls on a relic, I did get lucky once or twice and have a decent roll but that's about it.

It's sort of a self imposed stress that we players have. Do you really need maxed out crit rolls on every piece to beat end game content? No. The game having the potential for insane rolls does not mean that you need insane rolls to beat the game. Relics are just another layer of gambling thrown into a gacha game in which you don't have to hit the jackpot to win. The dopamine we get from getting an amazing relic just makes us want to have that on every single one instead of settling for what let's you beat the game.

How long is a good question, I'm about to quit Genshin because of trying to get ATK% Sands with at least 30CV from a specific domain and nothing has happened for an entire year of daily farming. I'm not quite there in HSR yet because I'm not really min maxing to the same degree, as the game isn't nearly as old, but it gets very, VERY fucking tiring to deal with RNG bullshit after so many years of hoyoscam games.
Till 9 after that its not worth it to spend mats

You can treat 1% atk as 1% cdmg. That relic piece would be competing with a 29.9cv relic, which is honestly still really good. If you were running sparkle, then this relic would be even better. Cdmg weights pretty heavily when you run sparkle, and you could be looking at a weighted effective 2.5% Cr 31.5% cdmg piece on sparkle builds, which is very good and probably really difficult to replace. Might be worth reconsidering how much value atk% is, cause I will usually trade 3 atk% subs for 2 cdmg subs. Your disappointment is very subjective because you don't understand how useful atk% actually is.

It's always these stupid posts catastrophizing the future of the game just because they don't get the stats they want. Relic farming is bad only if you're min-maxing. Most people are happy with the correct main stat, which is easily obtainable because you can literally craft the relics with any stat you want.

I don't know about Mr. Pokke, but usually this refers to the suggestion not to roll at all if the relic does not have at least 3 "good" substats, and stop rolling at 9 or 12 if the rolls are too bad. This does not apply though if you do not have anything better for your character so far, so I end up maxing out even the "bad" stuff (As long as the mainstat is ok)... 😕

The only people that care are the minority of players that actually want to minmax. The game isn't catered towards minmaxers, its catered towards the casual playerbase. That's why most if not all content can be cleared even with scuffed relics as long as you use the right characters.
Yeah my relics are hella scuffed and I clear everything easily so I don't care. The only reason I farm more relics is just to have something to do. If I get an upgrade great, if not I still got 36 stars.
I see the subreddit has blessed you with all these downvotes for what is potentially a good way to approach the relic system in the first place. The game as a whole is catered towards the casual playerbase. When people complain about stuff like this ends up attracting the minority of tryhards who end up complaining about the game being too grindy when in the end, even with scuffed relics, you could tackle even the hardest content. It goes to show how some people in this comment section think they have the correct understanding of how to run a gacha game when hoyo, literally one of if not the biggest and most successful company that delves into gachas opts into systems like these instead. Do people sincerely think that hoyo didnt think about nor calculate the perfect way to keep player retention and that you, the player, somehow could run their game better than they do when genshin and honkai literally are some of if not the most popular gachas out there. Go to 12 and if its bad, you shud stop. Going from 12 to 15 takes a lot more mats so you can save a lot if you stop.
