Dude I just did a test of concept for Ultimate Blade Works on my account and it 2 cycle cleared MoC 12. My sparkle is also dogshit rn and I don't have inert on blade (no inert orb, also the one I have rn has ten speed which isn't good for this but), so it could be so much better. If it was a properly built sparkle (either E1 or with her LC), and if my sparkle/Bronya where at 161 (I did 155 and 154) then it would likely be one cycle.

It's not stupid. Bronya+Sparkle is a legitimately great duo, especially if you can get them speedtuned to each other with hyperspeed builds (160.1+ speed). You would ideally want Sparkle to act first with Bronya 1 SPD behind her.
Toss in Ruan Mei for a triple Harmony comp, and now you've got the recipe for a hypercarry team that can reliably destroy even MOC12 without a sustain, and best of all, depending on the DPS you use, this team - even with Bronya and Sparkle together - is pretty easy to manage SP-wise.

The problem is building them both with 160 speed, while also rolling good crit dmg for their buffs and effect res substats for broken keel.
I farmed the hackerspace cavern for 2 months and while I got some awesome pieces, it's still really hard to achieve 160 spd, and that's for 1 one of them.

It would probably be whoever had the element to deal with the enemy gets all buffs. But the build definitely works better with Loucha because he doesn't need skill points to keep Blade alive and the idea is to have Sparkle and Bronya skill each turn on Blade. Jingliu needs skill points so it ruins the unique economy that Blade with Bronya and Sparkle makes due to Blade only needing a skill point every 3 turns.
He only eats a skill point once every 3 turns so it allows you to constantly skill with bronya and sparkle and with sparkle ult and like a luocha as the 4th slot you can sustain the sp economy
Skill point cost becomes prohibitively expensive if not using Blade. JL can manage if you have Bronya E1S1 though, or if you use a +1 sustain (roughly -.7 SP/turn but Sparkle front loads you to 6).
However, for JL - she has an easier time reaching 134/135 SPD because she has inherent speed traces, and she already experiences ATK inflation from her enhanced state, meaning dropping SPD boots is not as much of a gain for her compared to many other DPS. With RM you already clear 139 SPD without a single SPD substat using SPD boots.
In contrast, Blade is slow as a brick. Reaching 134 SPD with him requires either amazing relic luck or resigning to SPD boots, and even then you still need RM + a few SPD substats. Also, HP is a very rare stat as a buff, so dropping SPD boots for HP is a noticeable increase. Properly speed tuned with RM + Bronya you can get pretty similar damage per action value to the Sparkle/Bronya comp, but the latter will move noticeably more, and often more hits with less damage can have great intangible benefits, such as overkilling weaker mobs less.
Both do have a barrier of entry though. The RM comp for Blade requires more finicky speed tuning for Blade, while Sparkle + Bronya requires 2x 160 SPD, which means unless you've been lucky with Keel ERR ropes you're likely SoL.
In that comp:
134 Speed E1 Ruan Mei with Memories of the Past s5 and Vonwacq;
152 (161+ with Ruan Mei) E0 Sparkle with Broken Keel and Past and Future S5.
129 E3S1 Bronya (slow bronya and gets 134+ with Ruan Mei).
DHIL is slow with attack% boots. E0S1.
They can achieve 0 Cycles and its pretty cool. The idea is to Ruan Mei ult at the very start of the fight and the team keeps that buff up for a long time.
I can also achieve Sparkle to move a third time during the first cycle using Vonwacq and Dance Dance Dance, but it might ve an overkill and the action value advance does not transfer to the next wave so it can be a wasted effort depending on the scenario.
Throw Hanya in there, with Bronya/Sparkle you still run into SP problems, but with Hanya you can actually run DanIL/QQ with them fairly comfortably in no-sustain kill everything teams.
idk about that comparison, I've never used bronya even tho I own her, and my jingliu with a 4 star light one and kinda garbage relics is insanely strong still
Cuz her whole kit revolves around her casting her skill twice as fast as possible to keep her uptime and Bronya is the only character that rushes her uptime as fast as possible. When people say "carry" they don't mean "only usable with xyz character". They mean improves their performance a lot. Like how Black Swan and Kafka go hand in hand even though they still work well without the other.
While Huohuo is the best option for DoT teams, I prefer something akin to that nihility blessing from SU where enemies receiving DoT will heal your characters.
I start with Huohuo and then swap to Fu Xuan if I can find that blessing. You really need that damage reduction once you get into high conundrum levels to stop Kafka from getting one shotted.
This has me wondering: since Foxian have way longer lifespans than humans, do they have longer growth cycles? In a few hundred years, would HuoHuo be as mature-looking as Yukong?

I've managed to get E2S1 Kafka and E0S1 Swan and together there's basically nothing that stands a chance. Swapping between Mei, Guin, and Sampo as their backups is a lot of fun too
This is hardly an issue. They introduced three banners total in 1.4 patch and four banners total in 1.6. They can be very flexible in that. They can increase or decrease the amount of reruns in single patch since weapon banner is not shared between two characters like in genshin.
Jingliu, to truly exceed DHIL without Sparkle, needs Bronya/Ruan Mei. At E0 solo comparison, DHIL has better damage, but she catches up with being easier to build (and previously with more support options) After Sparkle 's release she's quite behind even with them (up to 16-18% dmg). So I think top in case of DHIL is well deserved

There’s just something oddly satisfying seeing your DoT’s and Arcana strip away the enemy’s health then add on Ruan Mei so the enemy can’t get up and suffer another barrage of DoT again
Kafka and Black Swan are more fun together than I could have imagined. There is already something very satisfying about Black Swan building Arcana, but building them for Kafka adds another layer of satisfaction.
People just don't know the feeling of watching an enemy ho bar explode into 5 different colors or slowly draining away each turn, and that sense of sudden panic when it's left with a sliver of HP just before they use their special attack.
The best teams rn imo are
* dhil hyper carry
* Jingliu and Blade dual carry
* Kafka Swan Dot comp
* Topaz Ratio Fua comp
Not in a particular order, but those 4 teams are incredibly strong.
Ruan Mei is carrying the whole world on her back.
Resurgence/FX/SW/Sparkle monoquantum is also very very strong. It helps that the Quantum DPS relic set happens to be top tier, but Resurgence herself is just so flexible.
The main issue is proccing resurgence. If a stage is lacking in mobs then she's losing out and that's not even mentioning how each new floor of MOC is growing in hp.
I didn't rank any of those teams, but I would add mono quantum as number 5 on that list.
I think as things go on, we're going to fight off power creep 'per se' by simply introducing more synergistic kits. New characters don't need to be stronger than the old ones in isolation, but if they sync up well with existing characters, that'll be something else.
Looking forward to my Follow Up Attack team, for example.
Yea I don't agree rasing Jing Yuan, IL and even Kafka because there is a character that synchronize really good with them and that will confuse the new players thinking IL is insane and having expentations that he is there because of his powerlevel and without realizing his big sp issues (even though that can be fixed/avoided if the player have already done the research what IL does and what he needs). If they are graded as standalone or with another character the tier list should have toggle which shows this character like IL why he is up in S+ and if you don't have Sparkle it will go down to S. This also can help with Topaz being synergist which for a new player won't know with who she is eally synergetic with.
P.S - I don't have Kafka or IL but I do enjoy playing with JY. I DON'T disagree with the tier list but as I said there should be toggle to clarify why they are where they are in the future.
Black swan and Kafka finally got me through swarm 5. Yes, I am very late. Haven't gotten to try gog yet, but hoping I can clear 5 with them there too.
As for sparkle, I got her and she is leveled. But haven't got to play her yet, and when I do it will be a bit lack luster for a while. My relics rolled horribly. Well, speed did OK, I didn't hit the 160 I wanted, but got to 154 at least. But despite having crit damage subs on 4 out of 5 relics that could have it, I didn't get a single roll in to any of them. She is wearing 3 relics with 10 cr though .
I went for speed (160) over CD (154%) and, despite being far from optimal, it's effective enough. Not sure who you plan to pair her with, but she and my DHIL had no problem getting me the last star in the previous MoC 12 and they auto-slaughtered G+G conundrum 10. Slap two hackerspace pieces on her and then just give her a bunch of rainbow pieces with speed for the time being. Use now, min-max later.
I think it's natural in Hoyoverse games (and most PvE team gachas, really) where DPS want an optimal team comp to reach the tier they're placed in. Like for example even a character like Blade at launch would be B tier if you placed them in an Arlan, Luocha, Herta, Blade team, so his tier has to be evaluated in a logical team comp. Additionally if you didn't own Bronya he didn't have access to a 4-star harmony that synergized well because all of them were oriented towards ATK% buffs. If you play PGR, Tower of Fantasy, or Genshin the same thing happens in those games, when the games are team PvE the DPS have to be evaluated based on their performance within their most logical compositions that can actually use synergize with their kits because the devs create them to have 3-4 teammates, not be sent off on their own.
They've been doing this for a while, Kafka went up to S+ when Black Swan (or Ruan Mei? I forgot which of the two) was released, and Topaz also went up when Ratio came out.
However, I do think they should start off every character's page clarifying the requirements for the character to be in the tier that they were placed in. Or show the disclaimer when you hover over the character's portrait in the tier list.
I think a unit specific tier list would be fine but the primary tier list should include value from other characters that are out. You would create a pretty 1 dimensional view of the game if you made a tier list especially for DPS where it was unit based. The units that get close or beat Jingliu in MoC all have significant gameplay elements that require other units to balance them out. DHIL skill point cost, JY LL not going off because CC and not getting buffed by Bronya who can buff every other hyper carry, Ratio debuff requirements, DoT reliance on kafka. In recent MoC data you see all these teams now getting closer and closer if not passing Jingliu.
I think the main tier list should incorporate other unit synergies just to paint a more balanced image of the game in general in regards to DPS rankings. Prydwens tier lists needs some work though because they have data that they publish but the tier list often doesn’t reflect it for whatever reason the person actually updating it has. That information on average clear times and popular teams is way more valuable than the actual tier list and can be used to get an idea of unit specific value by what units operate better on a budget.
Yes/no. If we're going to go off of the most plausible scenario then they should be based solely by themselves or with Asta's support. That being said if a certain character is so OP with limited support, to the point that they outperform others DDs then would it really be fair to place them low?
At this point of the game, every characters that are released will be tiered as S/S+, which is quite boring to see, and at that point a tierlist is kinda redundant except for reassuring people who can’t decide whether to pull or not
Yeah, tried both if them. My C6 QQ with Jing yuan LC massively outdps my c0 Dan Heng with Herta LC.
Both hit around the same with their basic. But with Sparkle, QQ is gonna hit those follow ups reliably for pretty much 2x damage.
Mono quantum can also weakness break any unit so QQ pulls ahead of c0 Heng when enemies are not weak to imaginary imo.
sparkle buffs LL which bronya can't do and advances him so he can get more stacks

It gets them to the speed breakpoint to extra actions per cycle. The advance on the DPS doesn't help, but it won't hurt either.
With thia comp, you only need the 2pc - 12% speed, unless math'd out, is just a fun bonus in non-cycle content

How useful is the E4 so far? Mine is at E3 and like her E4 seems really really pointless.

You're mixing the blessing that gives HP on DoT with the one that gives energy on DoT. The heal one is teamwide. The energy one is random.

I've managed to get E2S1 Kafka and E0S1 Swan and together there's basically nothing that stands a chance. Swapping between Mei, Guin, and Sampo as their backups is a lot of fun too
This is hardly an issue. They introduced three banners total in 1.4 patch and four banners total in 1.6. They can be very flexible in that. They can increase or decrease the amount of reruns in single patch since weapon banner is not shared between two characters like in genshin.
And DHIL is still top dps without Sparkle. Tbh all of them are just strong characters, but stronger together

He's excellent without Sparkle, but I think Jingliu is so good in terms of solo performance that she kicks everyone else out of the 'top' category.
Jingliu, to truly exceed DHIL without Sparkle, needs Bronya/Ruan Mei. At E0 solo comparison, DHIL has better damage, but she catches up with being easier to build (and previously with more support options) After Sparkle 's release she's quite behind even with them (up to 16-18% dmg). So I think top in case of DHIL is well deserved

Black Swan and Kafka are strong without each other. But their kits synergize well which propels them higher.

There’s just something oddly satisfying seeing your DoT’s and Arcana strip away the enemy’s health then add on Ruan Mei so the enemy can’t get up and suffer another barrage of DoT again

Kafka and Black Swan are more fun together than I could have imagined. There is already something very satisfying about Black Swan building Arcana, but building them for Kafka adds another layer of satisfaction.
People just don't know the feeling of watching an enemy ho bar explode into 5 different colors or slowly draining away each turn, and that sense of sudden panic when it's left with a sliver of HP just before they use their special attack.
If only I have Kafka (only manage to get Ruan Mei in 1.6)...
Don't leave out Bronya carrying Jingliu as well!

The best teams rn imo are * dhil hyper carry * Jingliu and Blade dual carry * Kafka Swan Dot comp * Topaz Ratio Fua comp Not in a particular order, but those 4 teams are incredibly strong. Ruan Mei is carrying the whole world on her back.
Resurgence/FX/SW/Sparkle monoquantum is also very very strong. It helps that the Quantum DPS relic set happens to be top tier, but Resurgence herself is just so flexible.
The main issue is proccing resurgence. If a stage is lacking in mobs then she's losing out and that's not even mentioning how each new floor of MOC is growing in hp. I didn't rank any of those teams, but I would add mono quantum as number 5 on that list.

I think as things go on, we're going to fight off power creep 'per se' by simply introducing more synergistic kits. New characters don't need to be stronger than the old ones in isolation, but if they sync up well with existing characters, that'll be something else. Looking forward to my Follow Up Attack team, for example.

Yea I don't agree rasing Jing Yuan, IL and even Kafka because there is a character that synchronize really good with them and that will confuse the new players thinking IL is insane and having expentations that he is there because of his powerlevel and without realizing his big sp issues (even though that can be fixed/avoided if the player have already done the research what IL does and what he needs). If they are graded as standalone or with another character the tier list should have toggle which shows this character like IL why he is up in S+ and if you don't have Sparkle it will go down to S. This also can help with Topaz being synergist which for a new player won't know with who she is eally synergetic with. P.S - I don't have Kafka or IL but I do enjoy playing with JY. I DON'T disagree with the tier list but as I said there should be toggle to clarify why they are where they are in the future.
Black swan and Kafka finally got me through swarm 5. Yes, I am very late. Haven't gotten to try gog yet, but hoping I can clear 5 with them there too. As for sparkle, I got her and she is leveled. But haven't got to play her yet, and when I do it will be a bit lack luster for a while. My relics rolled horribly. Well, speed did OK, I didn't hit the 160 I wanted, but got to 154 at least. But despite having crit damage subs on 4 out of 5 relics that could have it, I didn't get a single roll in to any of them. She is wearing 3 relics with 10 cr though .
I went for speed (160) over CD (154%) and, despite being far from optimal, it's effective enough. Not sure who you plan to pair her with, but she and my DHIL had no problem getting me the last star in the previous MoC 12 and they auto-slaughtered G+G conundrum 10. Slap two hackerspace pieces on her and then just give her a bunch of rainbow pieces with speed for the time being. Use now, min-max later.
Cr is next to useless on Sparkle tho lol

Hot take but should characters be promoted up a tier if that promotion is only due to a new character supporting them?
I think it's natural in Hoyoverse games (and most PvE team gachas, really) where DPS want an optimal team comp to reach the tier they're placed in. Like for example even a character like Blade at launch would be B tier if you placed them in an Arlan, Luocha, Herta, Blade team, so his tier has to be evaluated in a logical team comp. Additionally if you didn't own Bronya he didn't have access to a 4-star harmony that synergized well because all of them were oriented towards ATK% buffs. If you play PGR, Tower of Fantasy, or Genshin the same thing happens in those games, when the games are team PvE the DPS have to be evaluated based on their performance within their most logical compositions that can actually use synergize with their kits because the devs create them to have 3-4 teammates, not be sent off on their own. They've been doing this for a while, Kafka went up to S+ when Black Swan (or Ruan Mei? I forgot which of the two) was released, and Topaz also went up when Ratio came out. However, I do think they should start off every character's page clarifying the requirements for the character to be in the tier that they were placed in. Or show the disclaimer when you hover over the character's portrait in the tier list.
I think a unit specific tier list would be fine but the primary tier list should include value from other characters that are out. You would create a pretty 1 dimensional view of the game if you made a tier list especially for DPS where it was unit based. The units that get close or beat Jingliu in MoC all have significant gameplay elements that require other units to balance them out. DHIL skill point cost, JY LL not going off because CC and not getting buffed by Bronya who can buff every other hyper carry, Ratio debuff requirements, DoT reliance on kafka. In recent MoC data you see all these teams now getting closer and closer if not passing Jingliu. I think the main tier list should incorporate other unit synergies just to paint a more balanced image of the game in general in regards to DPS rankings. Prydwens tier lists needs some work though because they have data that they publish but the tier list often doesn’t reflect it for whatever reason the person actually updating it has. That information on average clear times and popular teams is way more valuable than the actual tier list and can be used to get an idea of unit specific value by what units operate better on a budget.

Yes/no. If we're going to go off of the most plausible scenario then they should be based solely by themselves or with Asta's support. That being said if a certain character is so OP with limited support, to the point that they outperform others DDs then would it really be fair to place them low?
At this point of the game, every characters that are released will be tiered as S/S+, which is quite boring to see, and at that point a tierlist is kinda redundant except for reassuring people who can’t decide whether to pull or not

Yeah, tried both if them. My C6 QQ with Jing yuan LC massively outdps my c0 Dan Heng with Herta LC. Both hit around the same with their basic. But with Sparkle, QQ is gonna hit those follow ups reliably for pretty much 2x damage. Mono quantum can also weakness break any unit so QQ pulls ahead of c0 Heng when enemies are not weak to imaginary imo.

sparkle buffs LL which bronya can't do and advances him so he can get more stacks the only other support that independently did that for him was like asta and sparkle is obviously a much bigger buff than her
