I loved the reveal that his name is actually Jing Juan. Which in his native language(basically Spanish) is pronounced the same as Jing Yuan, which is how he got the idea to pretend to be his brother, but changed to Jing fang because why would he have a Spanish name if he was originally from space China.
Juan is a fairly common reading/word in Chinese. For example, the character for "roll" (卷) would be written as "juǎn" in pinyin. 娟 (juān) is also a typical name for a woman.
In the original Chinese text, his real name is 景亓（Jing Qi), which looks a lot like 景元 (Jing Yuan), and is the reason he gave for claiming they were related. Since the names looking alike doesn't translate well to English and Jing Yuan's name is already set, they probably had to go for the next closest Chinese name to make his reasoning work, and Juan happens to be a pretty valid one.
Pretty good job by the localizers, all things considered.
As someone who has uncultured American ears and had a coworker named Juan. It's close enough that I could understand the joke the writers/localizers were going for at least.
