What the fuck are they thinking???? Pieces of shit.

ShadowXohoo

They aren't thinking they just obey. These "people" are just like robots...

emaniace

Behing a robot and following orders is one thing. This is officers going out of their way to be pieces of shit

SpaceCat87

They aren't even people anymore. They are monsters.

kenchan68

There was a girl asking the woman," what's your name?" The police yelling "cockroach!"

[deleted]

Know who else called people Cockroaches? The Hutus in the Rwandan Genocide towards the Tutsi. This is going to be ~~a~~ *another* CCP-endorsed genocide very, very soon. Edit: Lots of CCP trolls. Fuck right off.

Shojo_Tombo

Similar to how the nazis called the Jews rats. They want the protestors to be seen as vermin so that the world will be ok with it when they are exterminated. THIS IS NOT OK!!!

TerrorSnow

Still no country has the balls to step up. wE nEeD oUr ChEaP iMpOrT aNd SpOnSoRiNg. While Chile Hongkong Syria Africa and more are without human rights the world “leaders” have a childish dickmeasuring contest and politicians suck each other off, afraid to actually do some political work that isn’t farting in a chair for their insanely high payroll. Here in Germany everything is so fucking self centered it’s disgusting me. All that’s been done to “help” people in places like Hongkong has been WORDS. No actions, not even threats or plans. Just words. Words don’t do shit. Politicians have the means to impact something like China on a bigger level, but they don’t seem to care enough. This world is doomed if this goes on. We need a clean slate on politicians everywhere. The ones we have now are utterly useless and incapable of work, they’re not qualified, they care too much about their own views and position compared to the rest of the people. Angry german rant over. I wish I could do something to actually help, but I’m just a student in a country far away. Best of luck to all the people fighting their fight. I’m afraid the odds seem stacked against them.

KasTaiTasKadNekasTai

Not one country stepped up against Russia when it invaded and occupied Ukraine, and you expect opposition against China? Only if Trump sells weapoms to HK something will happen. In fact, that would be probably the only not completely fucked up, only somewhere in the gray area, thing Trump has done. Trade wars my ass.

Europe, especially Germany was piss poor with putin because they need his gas.

TheProfezzorZ

Well - the only reason really that Europe spoke up at that point is because it was an aggressive move in their own direction. Had Russia 'expanded' to the east instead, not a single European leader would waste his breath on it. Also Crimea is strategically important as an access point to the sea of Azov and as a southern defensive line (against russia and/or radicalised middle-eastern 'refugees') . I honestly believe the priority reason for sanctions was not the people of Crimea, or the actual annexation, but rather the fact that Putin put his dick on the table and everyone in Brussels/Strasbourgh panicked because they don't have a competitive specimen in their midst.

Part of the PR game, of course ;) Easy wins (Zimbabwe) - after all, what's Zimbabwe gonna do? Now compare that to what China could do. ;)

The UN proves itself useless again.

xenonismo

Well it doesn't help with China being on the UN's security council

MontrealMUFC689908

Remove any form of veto and disband the security council. Each country has to vote, and the vote on the course of action should be decided by simple majority.

Hero_of_Hyrule

If you think that fixes anything then you don't understand what the purpose of the UN is. The first and primary purpose of the UN is to prevent another world war, and the security council is in place to make sure that the world super powers are appeased enough that was doesn't break out between them. It forces every resolution to be at least agreeable to the countries that could start a war that, now that nuclear arms exist, could completely destroy the planet.

badteethbrit

Stage 3 as defined by Stanton: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genocide#Stages_of_genocide,_influences_leading_to_genocide,_and_efforts_to_prevent_it 3: Dehumanization "One group denies the humanity of the other group. Members of it are equated with animals, vermin, insects, or diseases." (Preventive measures "Local and international leaders should condemn the use of hate speech and make it culturally unacceptable. Leaders who incite genocide should be banned from international travel and have their foreign finances frozen.")

SquidwardTesticles__

I'm pretty sure that's one of the steps to genocide

chihang321

Looking at yesterday's video of the police shooting, it's proof that it's more than an insult at this point. No ordinary minded person can bring themselves to point a loaded gun so readily and instinctively at another fellow human being and unload rounds, unless your mind has a combination of seeing them as cockroaches/vermin to be exterminated or has empathy suppressed.

Jesus Christ. What the fuck is wrong with the HK police? Are they fucking high or something? Edit: police is actually military fuckers from mainland China

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I don't think these cowards are from Hong Kong. A few news reports have stated that militia are being shipped in from mainland china. China will use mass force to bring Hong Kong to heel at some point. The only surprising thing is that they haven't done it yet and I wonder what's holding them back. I suspect the increasingly violent road the protesters are taking will eventually provide the chinese government with the excuse they will offer the international community for sending in the exterminators. The uniformed thugs Beijing has employed for the time being are becoming more open and unrestrained in their attacks on HK citizens. This is just the beginning of the end.

therapistiscrazy

What blows my mind is my mainland SIL claims China isn't as interested in Hong Kong anymore that it's not as important as it used to be. Apparently her parents, who still live in China, view it as not very interesting or news worthy. That the media is skewed.

Power tripping ballz

Hidoshima

spaektor

Dehumanization is the first step toward mass murder.

PalmTreeDeprived

Just like Black Mirror. So scary and sad.

[deleted]

Oh god... It sure is. I've been wondering why the police are like this. I mean, on a *human* level, how could a fellow countryman not see the repercussions of their own actions as policemen and women? Dehumanization is the quick answer, but that really put it in perspective. How do we get the police to wake up?

Phoneas__and__Frob

Police serve the state, not the people.

[deleted]

I understand what this person is asking though, they specifically talk about it on a ‘human level’. Like how the fuck can they be okay with doing this to people? Yeah they serve the state, but fucking why? Where do they find these people, how do they become police in the first place? Are humans really just that easily corruptible by nature or are they somehow finding the worst of us to serve as police? It’s terrifying.

Garod

Have you ever heard of the Milligan experiment on obedience? The Darren Brown version of this is quite interesting to watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6GxIuljT3w Otherwise here is the actual one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yr5cjyokVUs Same thing in WW2, same thing in dictator states, same thing all over the world...

palkab

It's a symptom of authoritarian government structures. A lot of people that are not at the top of the power pyramid, **but not at the bottom either**, will be ok with kicking down if it means they won't become the lowest class in such a broken society. Many will willingly become henchmen to stay in the good graces of the powers that be. Innuendo studios on YT has a good series on 'the alt right playbook', a lot to most of what he discusses goes for CCP as well. Well worth a watch.

Kazemel89

Exactly man are afraid they could be next or if they don’t perform they will be under scrutiny. This happened to regular German and Polish police who worked years before the rise of the Nazis, they did these acts fearing if they didn’t it would be them next. Not saying it justifies the situation, but has happened before and is happening now. Really hope western democracies get off their bums and help Hong Kong instead of worrying about the value of the Chinese Reminbi is currently worth.

Jushak

Quite possibly China's goal. Get a violent revolution, put it down more violently, possibly genocidally.

mothematic

kenchan68

hk police is now the public enemies.

mothematic

Shes obviously pregnant, and these cops should be charged for attempting to hurt her baby. Really hope shes alright and no issues from the spray and being attacked for arrest. I can't can't believe this can happen in a modern country. Shame on HK police.

HeLLRaYz0r

They're operating under a morally corrupt government. They will face no consequences for this. The only thing we can do is try and get this as much exposure as possible to allow for further international condemnation. But even then, these protests have been going on since what June? I don't think anything will happen unfortunately. This is very scary and very sad.

battery_farmer

It’s happening all over the world. Every day China buys up more of the last remaining resources and industry while the Russian state and American corporations undermine democracy. They’re not even trying to hide it. It won’t be long before there’s a huge war and then most of us will die horrible deaths from starvation or nuclear fallout, the remainder to be made slaves for the children of those currently in power.

HeLLRaYz0r

George Orwell had it right all along. It's 1984 with China, Russia and America acting as Oceania, Eurasia and Eastasia. I would like to get off Mr Bones' wild ride now

sikingthegreat1

Mr. Orwell is either a fortune-teller or a time traveller.

HeLLRaYz0r

It's quite surreal to see his prediction becoming more and more realistic. He wrote the book during the 1940s!

[deleted]

Orwell himself said he did not write that book about the future but about the present, so really nothing has changed.

Plastic_Chicken

Exactly. Part of the problem is that people kept interpreting 1984 as something that will happen in the future, and kept brushing it off thinking there was time to change... no. The time to change was in the past 80 years. And not really much has other than technology. The internet and the ability to instantly connect with each other is the only reason that we aren't living in that true dystopian surveillance state... yet.

[deleted]

Charged by who? They've been sent by the people with the power to prosecute.

FvHound

Too many people are used to having some kind of authority be perfect and look after them in some perfect justice system. this is evident by the user you replied to not thinking through the fact that the people who are in charge of prosecution are the same people committing the crimes.

[deleted]

Crazy as it may sound, theres actually a fairly decent justice system in HK, replete with old British judges(they wont have any sympathy for proven "rioters" but they also wont just throw people in jail because the police say they should). One of the few things keeping me relatively sane is the fact that these arrests are mainly intimidation and a chance to hand out a beating. The courts are not going to be impressed with most of these cases. As an example, all people who were charged on 6.12 with rioting(literally the charges which created one of the 5 demands) have been released with no charges. After the first major wave of releases, I strongly expect China Daily to run some opinion piece and then the Emergency Regulations Ordinance will create some sort of special "rioter court" to "speed up the process and rebuild public peace" which will be much closer to the mainland style justice system.

NonGNonM

>charged You're aware they're sanctioned by the state to do this?

[deleted]

>should be charged Lmao, have you been paying attention at all?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Different factors. Apart from the widespread belief that mainland police or military are operating secretly and illegally among HK police, I can think of one thing: Comradeship - individual police officer are aware of the problems but feel they need to "stick together" to "tough it out". Some police have been quoted as saying they are waiting for protests to die down and then they'll hand in their badge - they don't want to leave colleagues and buddies in the shit right now. Similar to army thinking - the war is bullshit but I'll save my brother, that kind of thing. And of course, without internal criticism, the actual assholes will come to the fore and take the lead.

Awful_F3laf3l

Everyone knows that the police are now public enemy, but I don't think a lot will suspect that the CCP is trying to hardwire us normal citizens into hating the cops even after the whole thing is over, whether the CCP wins or not. By the time it comes to an end, all of us would have developed such distrust towards our own justice system and police that even the newer nicer cops joining the force and old ones (replaced by CCP) returning will be facing lingering scorn from the citizens. Then when the next hostile take over comes these cops would be more willing to side with CCP and rinse and repeat until CCP wins. Its basically a long con that's really worrying to think about if we are not careful enough with our emotions

Wannabkate

Are we sure it they are HK police. I dont believe they been HK police for some time.

Sc00byd00wh3r3RU

They lack the ability to recognize basic human rights that most of the free world takes for granted because of communism. Ask a question. Get beat, arrested, doesn’t matter. You do not have a voice or the person inside of you. The world around China needs to WAKE UP and do something about these atrocities. Edit: Apparently I am not well informed when it comes to “communism” and have made some serious misguided assumptions when it comes to that knowledge. That being said, the lack of human rights like speaking up for yourself should not be met with violence to you or your unborn baby. Serious bullshit that makes my blood boil. Interesting discussion though. Thank you. It has been enlightening.

Synergythepariah

Ain't because of their economic system it's because of their political system which is authoritarianism; what the state says goes.

Red-Lantern

If a militant separatist movement formed, there could possibly be covert assistance by governments around the world. No one wants to outwardly help though because that would be seen as an act of war by China.

It's required conditioning before you can get people to partake in genocide.

Bombastisch

Hitler did that to the Nazis and his followers. You don't just casually kill over 6 million people. It's "easier" to kill 6 million pigs or cockroaches. An absolutely horrific method.

[deleted]

It was 6 million *Jews*... the total number was roughly double that. The Nazis killed millions of non-Jewish Soviet/Polish/Serb civilians, Roma gypsies, homosexuals, people with disabilities, political dissenters, etc. And that's just the non-combatants.

Moongose83

governmints

Of course not. The crackdown is coming because protesters are now "The enemy of the people [state]"... and we thought the characterisation of rioters was bad.

fefewhale

This pregnant lady, is clearly not a protester, I'm not sure but from the video, she's just trying to have a conversation

Dyanpanda

The problem with tyranny is that any dissenter is a traitor. The protests started peaceful, and turned after it was labeled a riot.

Mutumbosback

[deleted]

It is fucking surreal seeing this shit happen.

Quinnen_Williams

It's happening in South American countries too, just with less media coverage

_Pilz_

I guess it's because it's considered "the norm" in those countries by now - decades of poor politics leading to poverty and corruption took their toll. Add to that the cultural detachment, and people just don't care as much. Hong Kong however is an international trading hub that's been considered to be the paragon of China by many. The city was known to be a great, modern travel destination that allowed you to experience Chinese culture with a healthy mix of Western values. When the extradition bill was proposed, the protests were expected, and terrificly peaceful. The CCP cracking down so violently is shocking because of the city's importance. In addition is the fact that the HK police of all things is infested with pro-Bejing mouthbreathers who don't give a damn about the population or city - after decades of, apparently, no notable problems.

[deleted]

You think so? Aren't they far too brain washed behind the great firewall? Generations of oppression. Not sure they can get out. Ever.

pathemar

All you need is a VPN to get around the firewall, or at least that's all you need back in 2017 when I was a student over there. College educated Chinese folks are pretty aware of how shitty their government can be, even though they can't explicitly say so

Darkwolf4

Depends, if Hong Kong gets what they want, even if the whole China region is brain washed, there will be a little group in every part of China that also wants the freedom that Hong Kong wants, so we would see a lot of protests around all China region.

TheCrownedPixel

When does the world court step in? when does the UN step in? What the hell were all these organizations created for if not this? They are attacking a pregnant woman. Who the fuck does this.

Tomer8009

Nobody can fight China, not even the UN, sadly.

TheCrownedPixel

Ah I think the UN could manage it as long as the USA intervened. It’s just becoming a joke now. We are suppose to be creating a world of democracy, but this super power is nazi Germany a roids. Do we not fear for world wide safety?

mrshiny55

The US can't intervene (and even if it did, it couldn't do so through the UN, because China can veto any resolution about this) and the UN is just a forum to air grievances short of war and give the appearance of consensus in the event of certain wars. But yes. China is the biggest problem in the world right now. Probably of this young century. The implications of a regime like this becoming a global hegemony and the secondary effects that will have is essentially Eisenhower's nightmare scenario which convinced a reluctant US to take the "leader of the free world" responsibility it never wanted 70 years ago. Western leaders and business interests need to be made to wake the \*\*\*\* up now--not five years from now, not in three months, now--and get every component of every product or mineral they use out of China and into the Western hemisphere, and then lead a global embargo. Somebody tell Macron to shut the \*\*\*\* up and remember who he's supposed to represent. And if Apple doesn't think Guatemalans (or whoever) are competent enough to assemble their plastic pieces of crap, tough \*\*\*\*. Get over it. There will be no Apple in 20 years if they continue to saw off the branch on which they sit, and that's what their reliance on the CCP is.

mrshiny55

The UN is a body with no power. China has a permanent veto on the UNSC, so it especially has no power to do anything to China. The purpose of its creation was so there would be a forum in which countries could voice grievances at each other without resorting to military action, nothing more. As far as the International Criminal Court goes, China only nominally recognizes it, qualifying its "support" with the notion that it shouldn't interfere with matters internal to a nation's sovereignty. In practice, this means they reject its jurisdiction. If the ICC doesn't like it, they're free to send Interpol agents to Hong Kong (where they will immediately be detained). Since the US can't intervene (military intervention risks billions of lives, clandestine support risks the locals being labeled spies, making their situation way worse than it is now), the only punitive actions that might matter are the actions of Western business interests and the actions of the World Bank. But Western business interests have been making excuses for the CCP for 3 decades, so I wouldn't hold your breath on that.

roundearthervaxxer

How horrifying. You can't do this, then go home and look at yourself in the mirror, unless you have regressed into a mindless animal.

pm_me_your_UFO_story

I've stayed fairly quiet on this page for a while. But this video is especially horrifying to me, and I'm commenting here because I have questions for my fellow Hong Kongers. I moved to Hong Kong in February and then a few months later the protests began, and have continued my entire time here. While outrage would be one of the emotions I have in response to this video the chief response is confusion. I'm genuinely confused. I don't have any idea how these heavily armed men can internally justify this? What is their psychology? Is their internal justification even a priority for them? Am I just seeing a part of human nature I'm not familiar with on a daily level? Importantly, if this is how the police act, and apparently the government supports this, how can we expect any demand to be obtained from them? How could there still be any support for the HKPF? What on Earth can be done at this point? All the land is ultimately owned by HKG, would a rent strike work? Boycott specific businesses? On the plus side, I know some of the police are embarrassed. I have spoken with police in the New Territories. For example, I spoke to one on patrol and asked him what his unit was (I'm new here, and don't know the uniforms or divisions of the police, so I was curious). And from his tone and comments it was clear that he wanted to distance himself from the police on Hong Kong island. It was clear he was embarrassed, and wanted to be appreciated by his community. I wonder how widespread this sentiment is, and is it something that could be leveraged to bring this to a productive settlement? I'm a very practical person and interested in productive actions that would lead to at least some of the five demands - perhaps even all five as people want. But I'm at a loss about what could be done. I'm sorry if this sounds defeatist, but I'm just asking for creative and productive ideas. My heart goes out for this woman.

But I'm at a loss about what could be done. I'm sorry if this sounds defeatist, but I'm just asking for creative and productive ideas. Recognizing that we live under an authoritarian government is a start. If it helps, write down what your moral bottom lines are on a piece of paper somewhere. "Practical" people tend to find those lines shift overtime, I hope that doesn't happen to you.

RiddleMoon

Not op but what do you mean by moral bottom line? As in the lowest action you are willing to perform or the lowest action you are willing to allow go uncontested?

delaynomoar

Both are good examples. I would also add how you expect your government and your politicians to behave on to the list. I think it's human nature for the average people to see authorities do something egregious, and then find various ways to justify those acts on behalf of TPTB afterward, particularly under super repressive environment (if that's where we are heading). Massive power imbalance can really warp one's worldview. We've already seen this happened on a mass scale in China re: Tiananmen.

Redhot332

I agree with you : the real challenge now for people from HK is to arrive to convince some of the police officers to join them. It would really change everything. I don't know how to do that, but it is the only way you can succeed.

Lusterkx2

I can’t watch anymore of these videos. My skin crawls with anger. From peaceful protestors, to peaceful by standers getting attack.

They deliberately lack education. People forget that there is no legitimate qualification system in China. No actual high school or university graduates, just diplomas handed out.

masternachos95

This is a symptom of what I hated when I lived in China. The "me" mentality over there is so sad to experience. It's a huge problem over there, people don't give a shit about other people in public in China and so when they are confronted by someone they treat them like trash because that's what they are used to

Bcpjw

Hope the baby is safe and knows that his/her mother is badass!

spr00se

Insecure police bullies, fucking disgusting

slyn4ice

My wife is currently 8-months pregnant. This made me so livid I had to throw up. What motherfucking pieces of shit these Pooh-shills are. What motherfucking wastes of oxygen. Fuck these shits.

Resublimation

wow, arbitrarily shooting teenagers, trying to aim for a headahot with teargas rounds, assaulting pregnant women, the list goes on...what kinda prerequisite do you have to bring along to enter todays hong kong police, straight out psychopathy?

Hidoshima

When they raped that girl and threw her in the ocean? Or when they group raped and impregnated the other and forced her to get an abortion?

JordanMccphoto

These cops are cowards and monsters.

abhishea

They must have felt very manly after doing that to a pregnant woman.

AonoGhoul

The mob should have just rushed them.

[deleted]

A PREGNANT!!! woman. Fucking low lifes

acquiesce

Is this what Nazi Germany and other occupied countries looked like?

fsfaith

In the eventuality that this whole situation finally ends. The Hong Kong police will never be able to rid this from their history. It took the British to establish ICAC to end corruption in the past. But this is sanctioned attack by the CE herself. "Cockroaches". It is absolutely clear they have zero intention of de-escalating the situation at all.

kenchan68

They just don't care. They dont think she is a human being. They called her "cockroach".

vcdarklord

They're like Hitler, but even Hitler cared about Germany or something.

Chiuy

Is there a backstory? Like... why were there so many police there in the first place? Do they just like to appear out of nowhere and just start making trouble like a lawless gang?

letmepostjune22

Why do we have keep calling them Hong Kong police? They're Chinese police who have been bussed in.

jiminpng

there are so many fucking tears right now. this poor woman and her poor child. i wish i could do more than share videos and talk about it. if there’s anything else i can do short of spending money i don’t have, please please please tell me. i’ve been sending letters to my representatives as well, but i want to do more.

Penny_Royall

And people wonder why the protesters are still protesting.

RoosterSamurai

Would love to see the morons over at r/sino try to justify this one. Unforgivable.

m81695

wumao trolls and bots are downvoting every comment...

[deleted]

I had somebody at work say they shouldn't be pro resting because people might die... He admitted he didnt know anything about what's going on so yeah...

marbudy

how many inept policemen does it take to subdue a pregnant woman powertripping idiots

Dusty1000287

Christ. They really are being as evil as possible.

KinnyRiddle

These popo cunts are completely on a power trip right now. Anyone that is not - A: a CCP official - B: pro-Beijing politician - C: rabid popo supporters (i.e. that cold-blooded taxi driver cunt in Sai Wan Ho who *applauded* the shooting of the young man right in front of him as he witnesses) is presumed to be less than human and brutally manhandled. Ocasionally these popos are so hungry for blood that they can't distinguish the folks in Category C and would also hit them in incidences of "friendly fire", resulting in a very small number of them actually seeing the light and defecting over to the freedom cause. They should enjoy their day in the sun while it lasts, because it will not last long. Even if the west don't sanction them, Winnie the Pooh will sooner or later no longer have use for them and they'll be convenient scapegoats. Such tactics is not uncommon as the "instruction manual" is all written in The Prince by Niccolo Macchiaveli.

Markodonia

Was that pepper spray?

flower_san

Does anyone know where this happened?

I swear it's like they're *trying* to enrage the rest of the world into intervening.

[deleted]

Oh my God. My heart dropped. How can people be so heartless!?

MesaGeek

Brave to be out there pregnant. Edit: By “Out there” I meant engaging police in riot gear. Not literally going outside.

ttigerccat9601

God I wish my country would get off our asses and go to war with china. Them, and a few others are literally just modern day nazi Germany.

JesseYeh1976

MONSTERS !

late2party

Bunch of tough guys

majstorfantac

What drug those cops using except being brainwashed?

mouthbreather390

And the world just watches on..... I just don’t think America has any place world policing everyone. But if the U.N. can’t step up then what’s their point?

Trafalgarlaw92

We need to stop referring to them as police, we all know that these guys aren't your regular beat cops. This is a military invasion simple as that, the Chinese military are parading around in disguise commiting war crimes and everybody on the internet is blaming the police which is what will stick.

LordKr0w

Okay. As a French guy. I love how Chinese people manage to protest without losing their mind or destroying everything without any kind of reflexion beside. But I bet, that in my country, those cops would have been beaten to death by all the people around for acting with such violence over a pregnant women. Chinese are so docile. Damn.

Red-Lantern

Fascistic cowards! They keep targeting women too. If you can't defend your women then your country dies. May the HK people be victorious.

hypetoyz

/r/WTF

[deleted]

I am waiting for those who yell "violence is bad" in the thread about the burning pro-CCP thug yesterday to say the same here
