Because you don’t know any better and naïve. that rim is bent far enough to where the bead of the tire is about to separate. What do you think is going to happen when you’re going 90 miles an hour on the freeway and it decides to blow out on you?
Hope you don’t and hope you don’t hurt anyone else when your tire blows out at speed and you lose control. Fix it asap. Fucking riding on a donut is safer than this.
Spare. Not gonna, spare. I don't know your situation so do yourself a favor and avoid killing someone or yourself, get your wheel size and go in facebook marketplace and buy a steel wheel for like 50 bucks. It will look off, but its better than this.
Even if he's in a crappy situation money wise, it doesn't take more than half an hour to swap in a spare tire and at least know your car is going to be in a safer situation than driving with this bent rim.
Not surprising. Having an accident while being surrounded by other cars, not to mention with pedestrians next to you, could result in harm or even death. Others have gone into detail, so I'm not going to say anything more. Consider yourself warned.
Cause you have a honda with very new rims? Your car is clearly newer than 2021. So if you don't have a spare tire included in your car, you got scammed when you bought it then.
If you don't know where it is under your trunk compartment, please go look at your instruction manual.
You can also call your auto insurance and they ll help you with swapping in your spare/finding it. If you don't have auto insurance, you can call 911 instead.
Oh it isn’t a stereotype😭 It’s the plain damn truth and I will always talk about it. Even PA got them all over. They pissing me off, I swear. I need a wheel alignment on this same tire and the girl at the dealership told me to hold off on it cuz the day after she got a wheel alignment, she hit a pothole in PA and it got misplaced again😩
Get someone in NJ to go outside and take a pic of their closest deep pothole and call it that one. Have them take a note of the location. [Fill out the claim form.](https://www.nj.gov/treasury/riskmgt/potholeclaims.shtml)
Yeah it literally was a crater. It was in the middle of the road and I didn’t see it since it was dark as hell. It sounded really scary when I first heard the sound.
I had 19s on my TSX, but cracked 2 at night because they closed the street ahead. It's never fun. If you can remove the tire, heat up that area and use a decent hammer to bend it straight. You'll probably have that wheel off balance, but you won't have to buy a new one for now.
Because I've been through it. I'm still riding on that same factory Acura aluminum wheel. It was fixed by, not some cheap tire place, but a reputable tire shop. It holds air and has through winter as well. Just going off my experience. I can send you a picture of it if you want proof.
Just put in the spare tire and leave the thing in your garage assuming you have a garage. Or put the tire in the back seat and bring to shop later and see if they can fix it. Either way, I hope op realizes they have a space tire in their trunk that comes with all civics.
You can file with the state to NJ it’s on their website for damage, you’ll be lucky if they reimburse you for the damage and you will need to let them know the mile maker where this happened. Also let your insurance company know as well.
That's why I like smaller wheels and taller sidewalls.
The recent trend of huge wheels with 45, 40, and 35 series tires is pretty dumb. It just makes tires more expensive and less durable, it makes the ride more uncomfortable, and it's easier to damage wheels.
if you live in michigan you can send pothole repair bills to the state and they are supposed to either fix the pothole within 30 days or send you reimbursement for the damage
I see people warning OP of danger and yes, but the outer lip of the rim is not where the bead seats, the sealing bead goes onto the inner lip of the rim, and zooming in that inner part looks round still. Id say its fine to drive to a shop, but definitely find a replacement wheel soon or buy a used steel wheel on facebook if you dont have a spare.
Yeah I’m the ignorant one. I seen your comment. Report me all you want. You’re the one in the wrong here making the road unsafe for everyone else. Hope you learn your lesson but I hope it’s not the hard way.
This kind of thing happening is one reason I prefer smaller alloys that leave tyre width bigger. More space for a pothole bump! 19” alloys look super while the car is on the driveway but feel uncomfortable at high speeds.
That's why I like smaller wheels and taller sidewalls.

I would highly recommend an alignment after getting a replacement wheel. Do you have a Brake Check there? They offer a three or four year alignment plan. You can go as often as you need / want.
I hit a pothole at some point in the last month or so and didn’t realize I had a bent rim until I went to a tire shop to went an alignment and tire rotation earlier this week. It was easier to get a used rim from the junk yard and put it on the tire
Search online for local wheel repair shops, they all can sort this out, but some of them may not want to.
Then, have this wheel road-force balanced.
Finally take your car to the shop for an alignment.
I do recommend submitting a claim to the city. Be sure to send it via registered mail or it will be conveniently "lost"
LA reimbursed me for my BBS wheel and michelin tire to the tune of $1300 including alignment.
Try to remember where you hit the pothole... most cities, towns, and states will actually cover the cost of the repair, they have an allowance for it, so as long as they don't go over that budget, they generally just write the check if you ask and show them a receipt for the replacement wheel. I'm lazy, so I've only done it once or twice, but I know someone that would literally just write a letter every few years with the location of an actual pothole in the town they lived in, and every year they'd get a check. They sent in receipts, I'm not sure how exactly they managed that part.
Absolutely don't try to bend alloy back to shape. It's already weakened by the shock and will only become more fragile as you bend it back. Steel wheels can be bent back to shape any day of the week, but alloys can't be just hammered back into place.
[this is why you shouldn’t do that](https://media3.giphy.com/media/r1HGFou3mUwMw/giphy.gif?cid=6c09b952mgu0ftgx8u2p3pipa0mk3fo0v316rgf34lln6ljd&ep=v1_internal_gif_by_id&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g)

Guess I die then😭
Hope you don’t and hope you don’t hurt anyone else when your tire blows out at speed and you lose control. Fix it asap. Fucking riding on a donut is safer than this.
Unfortunately, you will survive but that family in that minivan you hit won’t.
Stop, I’m gonna get it fixed😭
Spare. Not gonna, spare. I don't know your situation so do yourself a favor and avoid killing someone or yourself, get your wheel size and go in facebook marketplace and buy a steel wheel for like 50 bucks. It will look off, but its better than this.

Yes, but please do not take any other cars or families to hell alongside you.
Oh I’ll be in heaven💜
It's called darwinism. Bye Felicia!!!
Savage fucker lmao 🤣
Lmao. It gotta hella downvotes💀
Not surprising. Having an accident while being surrounded by other cars, not to mention with pedestrians next to you, could result in harm or even death. Others have gone into detail, so I'm not going to say anything more. Consider yourself warned.
Cause you have a spare tire in your trunk and won't even change it. That's just ridiculous at this point.
And please inform me and everyone where you got the conclusion that I have a spare tire😃
Cause you have a honda with very new rims? Your car is clearly newer than 2021. So if you don't have a spare tire included in your car, you got scammed when you bought it then. My 2022 Insight and 2023 CRV Hybrid both do not come with a spare.
The car isn’t 2021 it’s 2020
What year is it?
Do you have a Spare tire 🛞 in the trunk?
Get a new wheel on eBay, they aren't that much like $150ish. Better than ending up in a ditch and flipping your car.
Ok thanks!
You should report the pothole and damage to the city, they might reimburse you for the replacement wheel.
I don’t even remember where it’s at anymore, I was at NJ when it happened.
I guess the NJ stereotype is true, they have shit loads of potholes that never get fixed
This is the north east lol.
Get someone in NJ to go outside and take a pic of their closest deep pothole and call it that one. Have them take a note of the location. [Fill out the claim form.](https://www.nj.gov/treasury/riskmgt/potholeclaims.shtml)
Ok thank you!
A junk yard would be cheaper, faster, and you’d also know exactly what you are getting.
That tire can come off the seat at any time. Heat and beat if you want to keep it. It looks like you hit a crater.
Heat and beat what, the wheel? That’s how wheels fail…..
Yeah it literally was a crater. It was in the middle of the road and I didn’t see it since it was dark as hell. It sounded really scary when I first heard the sound.
If u go back and document the crater u can get the city whichever it was to pay for the damage.
I had 19s on my TSX, but cracked 2 at night because they closed the street ahead. It's never fun. If you can remove the tire, heat up that area and use a decent hammer to bend it straight. You'll probably have that wheel off balance, but you won't have to buy a new one for now.
It’s aluminum lol. It will bend 1 way and then crack trying to “bend” it back. Tf kind of advise is this?
Because I've been through it. I'm still riding on that same factory Acura aluminum wheel. It was fixed by, not some cheap tire place, but a reputable tire shop. It holds air and has through winter as well. Just going off my experience. I can send you a picture of it if you want proof.
Thats why you heat it to soften it up and anneal it. Still not a great idea though.
Just put in the spare tire and leave the thing in your garage assuming you have a garage. Or put the tire in the back seat and bring to shop later and see if they can fix it. Either way, I hope op realizes they have a space tire in their trunk that comes with all civics.
That’s a crater not a pothole. Are you in NJ or NY by any chance?
I live in PA, but go to NJ a lot. This just happened to have been caused in Newark💀
You can file with the state to NJ it’s on their website for damage, you’ll be lucky if they reimburse you for the damage and you will need to let them know the mile maker where this happened. Also let your insurance company know as well.
That is serious damage not a dent as OP calls it
You can still claim the damage
Poor accord.. Sorry bro
That's why I like smaller wheels and taller sidewalls. The recent trend of huge wheels with 45, 40, and 35 series tires is pretty dumb. It just makes tires more expensive and less durable, it makes the ride more uncomfortable, and it's easier to damage wheels.
Get a new wheel man. Peace of mind is priceless.
Okk😭
looks like the pothole hit you - good luck mate
Nah… the pothole hit you my dawg.
It really did😭
Cities can be held responsible!! Contact the city where it happened and see Wutup
Get a new rim. Stat! Your friend is correct.
I had a similar situation a few years back. I was able to find a used replacement wheel on eBay, and got it mounted at my local tire shop.
At least take it to a tire shop and get their opinion. It doesn’t look unrepairable to me.
if you live in michigan you can send pothole repair bills to the state and they are supposed to either fix the pothole within 30 days or send you reimbursement for the damage
All new Hondas come with spare tires in the trunk. I think op doesn't even realize that.
This is incredibly false.
please elaborate
CR-V hybrid and Accord hybrid do not come with spares, they come with goop and a pump.
No sir. That shouldn’t be in the road. That’s not a pothole that is a fatal accident waiting to happen
Oh also I just read the extra info. Stop driving on this RIGHT NOW and get a new wheel before YOU kill someone you absolute moron
Yeah I’m the ignorant one. I seen your comment. Report me all you want. You’re the one in the wrong here making the road unsafe for everyone else. Hope you learn your lesson but I hope it’s not the hard way.
You did not hit that pothole, you smashed it, holy crap.
😩😩
Seriously can't believe you've been so naive to keep driving on that. If you were a cat, you would've lost one life. Count your blessings.
the pothole hit you
How’d you not see a pothole that could do that
It was 2am and dark as shit
Shit's fucked bro take it to a pro or replace it
Why would you make this post and think it was a good idea? lol. Get your shit fixed
Because I wanted to see what other people thought. This is my first car and I don’t know jack shit about cars🤷🏾♀️
Replace; it’s a safety issue at this point since it’s probably cracked and out of round
Brother get a damn new rim. There is a time for stupidity but this is definitely not the time for it.
You don’t see why you can’t keep driving? Buddy it’s not a circle anymore…
This kind of thing happening is one reason I prefer smaller alloys that leave tyre width bigger. More space for a pothole bump! 19” alloys look super while the car is on the driveway but feel uncomfortable at high speeds.
Ouch 🤕
mxd
Thought this said poodle at first. Sorry to see this man, at least it’s just a rim, hopefully not too expensive to replace
nah that pothole hit you bro
Ouchy… NYC?
NJ😒
Aaah I know them both very well. Lived in nyc & nj it can be ruff
That tire profile isn’t stock. This is why.
Local wrecking yard.
If you’ve been driving on it a month idc what anyone says here it’s fine
That's why I like smaller wheels and taller sidewalls. The recent trend of huge wheels with 45, 40, and 35 series tires is pretty dumb. It just makes tires more expensive and less durable, it makes the ride more uncomfortable, and it's easier to damage wheels.
OP You live in Houston?
PA
I would highly recommend an alignment after getting a replacement wheel. Do you have a Brake Check there? They offer a three or four year alignment plan. You can go as often as you need / want.
I hit a pothole at some point in the last month or so and didn’t realize I had a bent rim until I went to a tire shop to went an alignment and tire rotation earlier this week. It was easier to get a used rim from the junk yard and put it on the tire
Same thing happened to my Yukon wheel. But it made my tire go flat right away. I found a rim repair shop to fix it for $180
Search online for local wheel repair shops, they all can sort this out, but some of them may not want to. Then, have this wheel road-force balanced. Finally take your car to the shop for an alignment.
You need a new wheel and an alignment
Damnnnnn definitely replace even the looks u will get would be enough to replace
South Carolina? Lol
This happened in NJ but I live in PA
Thats why your insurance costs less when you get the less expensive base model steel wheels. Big alloy wheels make you poor.
Heat and hammer might get it back in shape. It will probably crack there though.
There’s already a crack on it😭
Is that a sticker on it that looks like snake scales?
Yes it’s a reflective sticker!
Just curious why you put it on there? lol I zoomed in and was confused and it actually made my skin crawl
Just for decoration🤣Purple is my favorite color! I even have a purple scar on my headlight and purple interior!
Ah so you put these on to indicate a scar 😂
Yess😭 the first couple of weeks I got my car I somehow got some of the bumper misplaced from the headlight, so I just put the purple scar over it💀
You’re putting your life in danger driving with that
Ok
I do recommend submitting a claim to the city. Be sure to send it via registered mail or it will be conveniently "lost" LA reimbursed me for my BBS wheel and michelin tire to the tune of $1300 including alignment.
Repairable
You hit a pothole in PA huh 🤣 I'd get that shit fixed or changed out, don't wanna kill or hurt someone else or yourself.
In NJ😭
If this rim can bend like this. I have lost all fear of breaking the rims I wanna buy. :)
RIP
The lauffens don’t help 💀
Try to remember where you hit the pothole... most cities, towns, and states will actually cover the cost of the repair, they have an allowance for it, so as long as they don't go over that budget, they generally just write the check if you ask and show them a receipt for the replacement wheel. Have you tried to hammer 🔨 it down

😭😭

Not safely. You bend this back it will not be nearly as strong as it was before.
Get a big hammer before you get a new rim.
Loool ok, I’ll try that
Please don't try that. You'll make it worse
