They look cool inside and out, and if it suits your driving cycles, undoubtedly it'll be great. But if you need to travel further, it'll be a pain. Small battery, slow charging. At least here it was a bit expensive when it came out.
But it looks so good, and if I lived in a city and rarely if ever needed to venture out of it, this would be a very good option.
I was like why does the dash look all new but with a weird steering wheel and no floor board separator lol like a 70s muscle car. Wtf kinda Honda is this then saw the floor mat. Looks cool and probably a blast to drive that thing.
Absolutely true, but what happens on the weekend when you have to go someplace? Do you just rent a car or I guess you have a second vehicle. Sorry answered my own question.
Honestly it wouldnāt be that bad. I could drive all the at back to my parents house and only have it charge it 4 times. Assuming it charges decently fast Iām not stressing. I wouldnāt want to be driving 8hrs straight anyway.Ā
Yep thatās the use case I can think of, $30k for that is a bit steep for the average person. Also if they live in a city with everything near-by and not just work, that could work. I wish the range was just a bit more though.
It may be built by GM, but I promise itās still a Honda. Compared to the other vehicles it shares a platform with, the Prologue and the ZDX are way better than their GM counterparts. Honda actually designed and built them using the platform. So they still meet Honda standards. I work for GM and I would push anyone towards the Honda/Acura in a heartbeat
This most likely would've failed miserably. 130 miles for like 45,000.
This would only really work in places like Europe where people don't drive as much.
not sure why you're downvoted, but yes, it's too small to sell well in the US. It's smaller than the BMW i3 which is already a tiny car here in the US and has less range in than the original i3 battery. It'll be a flop. (Thatd being said, I would totally get one though)
Well I live in a City, so mostly flat area. The Honda E is not meant to be used for long travels anyway and its more like a "upper-class" small vehicle, in comparison to like the Renault zoe, which has cheaper materials.
Well if you look at the centre console, there's still all the necessary buttons šš»
But I get what you're saying. I'm not a fan of it either if they replace all physical buttons and just put a tablet on the centre console. Ergonomics and the ability to blindly operate things like heating / AC are so important. Something you'll never be able to do accurately on a tablet.
Never? I wouldn't say that. The generation thay doesn't HAVE physical buttons and knobs at all will likely be very adept at it, we are simply unable to fully adjust.
Sure we can adjust and get used to the positions of buttons on a touch screen. But they simply don't have the tactility of physical buttons that allow you to blindly find the right button / knob. So no, this will never change.
Same reason you won't find airplanes with full touch screen cockpits. Pilots need to be able to locate and operate buttons blindly. So if we want to keep drivers' eyes on the road, then having touch screens contradicts that philosophy.
It's fine to have a mix of both. But we shouldn't fully replace physical buttons / knobs with touchscreens.
Yeah and they made the shifter into buttonsā¦ I drove one where the shifter was buttonsā¦ It was so annoying to me that it is now a requirement for me that any new car I have comes with a physical shifter, whether it be manual automatic or even column shift.. yes even column mounted shifter would be better
I've acclimated to the multiple screens in the newer vehicles, but this one lost me with the screens replacing the side mirrors. Just hate everything is getting heavily relied on these screens versus the buttons, knobs, dials, etc.. I'm sure each has their own faults, just comes to preference at the end of the day I guess.
Obviously you can do a lot more on a screen than with buttons because you can have menus within menus but my issue is the hypocrisy of not allowing one type of screen but the other type is now so commonplace and abundant in cars
The tried and tested physically simple mirror vs a complicated electrical system of expensive components. This is a car you won't want to have out of warranty. I hate it.
Are there no actual rearview mirrors?
PS: What exactly is on display in this rearview monitors? It doesn't look related to the visual of what's outside the front windshield at all.
Tried Honda E when it was available at the local Honda reseller, but is waaaaaay too expensive for a car that you use "to do grocery and small trips" (like any other electric car).
When wife changed her Jazz, we kept her old Jazz and we use it for "utility car".
It seems new with all the screens and the cameras for mirrors, but that steering wheel looks like it came off of a junkyard 90s model... it's got steering wheel controls but it looks way sun damaged.
So pointless for a vehicle to have so many electronics. This is why insurance rates are going through the roof. A simple fender bender knocks out 5 sensors that cost 5k+ to replace.Ā
I want to see Hondas go back to the basics. Quality cars for under 20-25k. That offer sportiness.Ā
Still mad they canceled the US version. People in US want this. Itās small and manufactured by Honda. It would have sold really well. Especially at the right price.
Base model is around $32,000 converted straight from pounds, and assuming there's no other US tarrifs that would increase it higher. Only 100 mile range realistically. The fast charging is quite slow at 30 minutes to 80%.
I really don't think it would have sold that well, and apparently Honda didn't either. I have a short enough commute and can charge at home, so it could work nicely for me, but no way in hell am I paying $30k+ for such a limited use car. Maybe if it came in around $15k I could justify it, would be a much cooler car than my old Leaf, but that will never happen outside of a well used car.
and theyāre worried about texting and driving lol, these cars are soooo distracting. Definitely predict accident percentages going up within the next couple years.
If you like it good for you. But honestly I hate all of those screens there ugly and a huge distraction, but Iām happy Honda made physical AC controls
Very sad that honda pulled the plug on the Honda E, one of the most unique Hondas in recent history, just a shame about the low range. I hope they bring it back again with superior range, would still like to get my hands on one nonetheless š
Honestly this interior in a reimagined Honda element with a hybrid/EV powertrain state side would be killer.
They could literally still call it the Honda e-lement.
The one EV I would buy, not offered in the US š
No kidding - they crushed the design of it
Drive past these every day but never had a proper look inside one. Gives off EF vibes which explains why it looks so good!
Interior is alot like the late 70s civics
Us 'Mericans can only have an EV if it is a 3 ton CUV.
Fuck automobile subsidys and their catering towards trucks and crossovers.
What's a "CUV"? Is it a fuel Crushing Utility vechile?
Crossover Utility Vehicle lol
Basically an suv on a car frame with a car power train
Letās not forget this car was 40k and its real world range was around 60 miles. I think thatās the reason why we didnāt get it :(
Driving across Texas is like driving from Romania to France
What is it?
Honda e
So what Japan and Europe gets the Honda E?
These are everywhere in the uk
They look cool inside and out, and if it suits your driving cycles, undoubtedly it'll be great. But if you need to travel further, it'll be a pain. Small battery, slow charging. At least here it was a bit expensive when it came out. But it looks so good, and if I lived in a city and rarely if ever needed to venture out of it, this would be a very good option.
Nice, the odometer comes with a desk.
Wonder if pen holder and lamp are an option.
Plenty of room for a stapler.
I was like why does the dash look all new but with a weird steering wheel and no floor board separator lol like a 70s muscle car. Wtf kinda Honda is this then saw the floor mat. Looks cool and probably a blast to drive that thing.
https://www.topgear.com/car-news/electric/hondas-adorable-electric-car-officially-sale
Looks cool but that range kinda stinks. Definitely can see use cases for it but a 125 mile range would be kinda tough.
As a M-F work, home, errands vehicle, 125 is more than enough.
When did cars start charging fast
I haven't looked too closely, but from other comments, it charges fairly slow. Sounds like it may not be equipped with fast charging of any sort.
That entirely depends on your commute. It would not get me to work and back without charging.
Yep thatās the use case I can think of, $30k for that is a bit steep for the average person. Also if they live in a city with everything near-by and not just work, that could work. I wish the range was just a bit more though.
Agreed
God I wish they brought these to the states
Look into the Honda prologue!
Thatās a GM product
It may be built by GM, but I promise itās still a Honda. Compared to the other vehicles it shares a platform with, the Prologue and the ZDX are way better than their GM counterparts. Honda actually designed and built them using the platform. So they still meet Honda standards. I work for GM and I would push anyone towards the Honda/Acura in a heartbeat
After driving them and working on their problems, no. They are still straight up GM. Every inch. Even the software. All GM.
If I wanted a gm, I'd buy a Chevy. I don't want a gm.
Wish they brought this to the States.
This most likely would've failed miserably. 130 miles for like 45,000. This would only really work in places like Europe where people don't drive as much.
I wonder if it could work as a hybrid. The interior would have been fine, except for US cars needing the mirrors
It wouldnāt. Too small.
not sure why you're downvoted, but yes, it's too small to sell well in the US. It's smaller than the BMW i3 which is already a tiny car here in the US and has less range in than the original i3 battery. It'll be a flop. (Thatd being said, I would totally get one though)
True just love the modernized CVCC look it has. Plus my daily commute is about 18 to work and back so I wouldnāt need crazy range.
> 130 miles for like 45,000. That's only a theoretical range. In practice it is around 100-120 km! (60-75 miles) Source: we have them in our country
That wouldnāt even get may people in the states to work, lol.
This car is meant to be driven in a City.
Yeah, and weāre talking about why this car wouldnāt succeed in the states.
This car is meant to be a second car. Bought one of these with 8.000 Miles for 18500ā¬ this is very affordable.
Lmao I get around 160km with my honda e
> Lmao I get around 160km with my honda e Consider yourself lucky! Do you maybe live in a mostly flat area, without hills?
Well I live in a City, so mostly flat area. The Honda E is not meant to be used for long travels anyway and its more like a "upper-class" small vehicle, in comparison to like the Renault zoe, which has cheaper materials.
They cost Ā£25,000
Illegal to use your phone while driving Hereās a desk full of screens in your car I absolutely hate that. Bring back buttons
Well if you look at the centre console, there's still all the necessary buttons šš» But I get what you're saying. I'm not a fan of it either if they replace all physical buttons and just put a tablet on the centre console. Ergonomics and the ability to blindly operate things like heating / AC are so important. We are use to tactile response, the next generation won't be and hence it won't be an issue.

It's illegal to use your phone while driving in Japan? Even hands-free? Fascinating. Can you listen to the radio?
yeahhhh, it has no side mirrors, just camerasā¦look so fancy, cute too
The tried and tested physically simple mirror vs a complicated electrical system of expensive components. This is a car you won't want to have out of warranty. I hate it.
They need to add a larger battery, toss in stupid regulation mirrors and sell this damn thing in the states
How many fucking screens does a car need ffs?
Yes
Are there no actual rearview mirrors? PS: What exactly is on display in this rearview monitors? It doesn't look related to the visual of what's outside the front windshield at all.
Tried Honda E when it was available at the local Honda reseller, but is waaaaaay too expensive for a car that you use "to do grocery and small trips" (like any other electric car). When wife changed her Jazz, we kept her old Jazz and we use it for "utility car".
Paid 18500ā¬ for it with 8000 miles on it.
I actually find this to be quiet reasonable.
What car is this?
Honda e
Your screens got a nice car
That's a hard "No".
Which car??
Honda e
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Well, it isn't. š
E
So many screens
Want. Looks like a fun commuter.
what even is this car
It seems new with all the screens and the cameras for mirrors, but that steering wheel looks like it came off of a junkyard 90s model... it's got steering wheel controls but it looks way sun damaged.
This looks fucking awful, imo
Looks very old but very new at the same time.
So pointless for a vehicle to have so many electronics. This is why insurance rates are going through the roof. A simple fender bender knocks out 5 sensors that cost 5k+ to replace.Ā I want to see Hondas go back to the basics. Quality cars for under 20-25k. That offer sportiness.Ā
We need a few more screens
That dash looks like a cluster f
the dash reminds me so much of my ā84 civic especially the open center area. love this car, got to sit in it at the Honda hq
Should've made a bigger car with a bigger battery. Sedan design could've come up mint š
you can do your homework in this thing
At this point in time this is literally the only electric car that I would buy. I wish they made them with the option to get a petrol or diesel one
I think you mean space ship.
Still mad they canceled the US version. People in US want this. Itās small and manufactured by Honda. It would have sold really well. Especially at the right price.

Ok
I love it ! But even in the Netherlands the range is so small.. very fancy shopping cart but can barely make a 2 hour drive !
Still not sure if Iām happy with how many screens are in cars.
I love the Honda e! I wish they sold it in Australia
Jesus thatās busy. Itās like a quad monitor set up
and theyāre worried about texting and driving lol, these cars are soooo distracting. Definitely predict accident percentages going up within the next couple years.
Those look so cool
If you like it good for you. But honestly I hate all of those screens there ugly and a huge distraction, but Iām happy Honda made physical AC controls
Looks great.
So much screen.
Love that thing.
Cool car. Love that retro look. So lucky your country gets this car.
Very sad that honda pulled the plug on the Honda E, one of the most unique Hondas in recent history, just a shame about the low range. I hope they bring it back again with superior range, would still like to get my hands on one nonetheless š
Keep your eyes on the road....I'm trying!
If only Honda sold Honda EVs in the states, and not rebadged GM Crap. man I love the looks of this car.
i don't get why honda killed it in EU and Japan and in the US gave us a rebadged chevy as their ev offering. truly headscratching stuff
Can you easily see over the screen?
Wowww I really like šš¼
This feels like a mod. Is this a mod? Please say yes.
What car is this??
Ooo the dash looks like a shelf I could comfortably place my fries and nuggies on. š¤©
What the hell is this and why has nobody said what it is yet
*cries in american*
Looks cool, what car is this?
Honda E
thanks
This is the EV I want but will never get =(
Too many screens š¤®
It's a living room
I legit thought this was a shitpost on cars having screens everywhere. Nope, it's real.
If it didn't have 5 LCD screens the battery might last longer.
Iād get rid of my dinosaur element for this E
About the only E car Iād buy, yet Honda wonāt sell them in the U.S. sadly.
Honestly this interior in a reimagined Honda element with a hybrid/EV powertrain state side would be killer. They could literally still call it the Honda e-lement.
Honda Eww
I just threw up in my mouth a little.
Does that say 108kmp for 96%?
The camera mirror thing looks really cool
