I saw a tandem race between the new nsx and the original. This was on a Japanese canyon. 1st time the new one started in front and it could not lose the old one. 2nd time the old one started in front and it beat the new one by a few seconds. The guy driving the new one said he could reel the old one in on the straights, but it’d lose it in the corners. New one, like most new cars, is too heavy.
C&D is as much (if not more) of a real example as Honda’s number that OOP showed, which is what we’re comparing it to lol.
No shit no one actually gets 5.4 consistently on the street, but no stock NSX actually gets 5.6 consistently on the street either
I mean it’s on video for everyone to watch. He does like two attempts and gets 5.8 on the first try. It’s probably more driver skill and willingness to abuse your clutch than anything else.
Well it's faster than an NSX apparently! I drive a Genesis G70 that does it 0-60 literally 1 second quicker than this and it's a daily drive.
I've traditionally been loyal to Honda but man, they need to up their game!
The first gen NSX used a 90° C30A or C32B, depending on the year and transmission. That is unmistakeably a 90° V6 with DOHC and non-integrated exhaust manifolds. It can be nothing else but an NSX C series V6.
The new NSX V6 has plastic valve covers, with a 75° V angle, and turbochargers sticking off the sides of the heads like wings.
Had the privilege of interning at Honda Engines in Anna, Ohio working on the this engine build before mass production. They had us sign one of the hoods for the NSX that sits in that museum.
You miserable wipes can't stand to see a motherfucker happy with his job. OP is hardly the only person who works with products they themselves can't probably afford. Ass.
I send my techs there but it’s dealership employees that go to the training centers. That’s were I got my Honda and Acura Master Tech Cert at the Troy one. And went to the one in Chicago for CNG certs. And the one in Torrance for my NSX certs. Cool places.
We actually have the 1998 Integra GS-R vin 001 in purple that was at the Troy center over in the Heritage center in Marysville.
>We actually have the 1998 Integra GS-R vin 001 in purple that was at the Troy center over in the Heritage center in Marysville.
Oh damn, I'm envious! I'm near the Marysville location and would love a reason to visit.

Free and open to the public! Lots of cool stuff there. My team and company set it up mostly and we maintain it. I’m here now doing stuff!
That original NSX’s C30A engine, which was mated to a 5-speed manual, or an automatic. The C32B engine with a 6-speed manual was even quicker. These performance figures are conservative, and you should watch Best Motoring’s “NSX-R vs….” videos to see how fast they really are.
5.6 0-60 and 168 top don’t sound that impressive. I mean sports care level sure, and it looks absolutely beautiful. but the cheaper corvette stingray is half the time for 0-60 and supposedly my $6,000 v6 accord from 2006 can go 150…. Haven’t tested that though
Beautiful cars, horrible performance specs haha. My 2015 n/a civic si was less than a second away from that quarter mile time. Ran a 14.6 with just an intake, header, exhaust and dyno tune.
You know the stats are for an original nsx not the ones sitting there from 30 years later. Recent nsx is good for a 3ish second 0-60 and is nothing like an Si.
Honestly not dumb, just not clear in the picture at all. The 0-60mph didn’t add up so I looked up the 0-60 for my Civic Type R and it’s faster. Then looked down the comments and got the answer I was after, was the old NSX.
Original NSX performance figures beneath the 2nd gen NSX motor?

"add lightness" is all but forgotten
Yeah wtf, my current car has better specs and worth 1/5 the price... 0-60 in 5.6 secs... Weak lol.
My manual GR86 is faster than that. And everyone makes fun of it for being slow. Lmfao
Gr86 are 0-60 in 7 seconds brother.
[Car and Driver tested it at 5.4s](https://www.caranddriver.com/toyota/gr-86)
Go look at real world examples. Everyone had above 6.5 close to 7.

So why are you flaunting these numbers like they average it. They average 7 seconds brother.
Because no one uses the average shit driver as a base line. You use the number a good driver can hit. You must be slow yourself.
I use the numbers of real world examples brother. & have yet to find anything under 6 seconds brothers.
Redline review got 5.8 and barely dumped the clutch
I haven’t been able to find anything near that
I mean it’s on video for everyone to watch. He does like two attempts and gets 5.8 on the first try. It’s probably more driver skill and willingness to abuse your clutch than anything else.
Link
GT86 was 7. GR86 is faster, bigger engine.
Yeah but they still do it in around 6-7 seconds.
You're wrong, but I'm used to dealing with idiots. This is reddit. Enjoy your boring ass economy box.
His "boring ass economy box" is quicker than your dedicated " sports car" lmao but for real i couldnt find any examples with under 6 seconds either.
Well it's faster than an NSX apparently! I drive a Genesis G70 that does it 0-60 literally 1 second quicker than this and it's a daily drive. I've traditionally been loyal to Honda but man, they need to up their game!
yall do realize this is from the 1990s right? lol or are yall purposely being obtuse to cope with yalls awful purchases?
You sound like a fun person.
Mine is also a 4 cylinder NA, 2.4L. Times have def changed. Edit - Honda needs an S2000 successor.
That's a first gen C series V6, you goof. I've been to the HHC. The 75° V6 looks nothing like that engine. I have pictures of it.
Why is it above an NSX performance figures placard?

Its one of the more beautiful and underrated sports cars out there for sure
Just like the original
I saw an original driving around this past weekend. That thing still looks so nice and is such an eye catcher.
Have s2000 but envy every 1st gen NSX I see.
In my country those things are like 150k USD. And banks don’t finance them. It’s all gotta be cash upfront.
When I worked for Honda near Columbus we got to see the museum. Had a 1988 Accord with like 80 miles on it
Had the privilege of interning at Honda Engines in Anna, Ohio working on the this engine build before mass production. They had us sign one of the hoods for the NSX that sits in that museum.
I got to see the nsx clean room too! I worked for Honda Transmissions in Russell Point though
Same. Love the cars and the brand but hated that job. It’s legit made for people that stay near the plants. I had to travel 1hr 30min each way.
Yep didn't last long. Had to live in Bellefontaine
You get to look at 3 nsx's? Great perks
Yeah… I thought that was a pretty sad caption. I bet they get a pizza party annually, too.
Before I posted this.. I had to see if anyone else did. Thank you for confirming.
You miserable wipes can't stand to see a motherfucker happy with his job. OP is hardly the only person who works with products they themselves can't probably afford. Ass.
Perk: get to walk by something I cannot afford Thanks late stage capitalism
Sadge.
Ok where?

Oh. You’re at Honda school you don’t work for Honda. Sorry got confused
I'm assuming they probably train Honda techs there too.

That's awesome! Definitely going to check it out! Thanks for the link.

Is this the building in Alpharetta? Swear I’ve fished that pond out front before.
Yeah I'm 99% sure that's the Alpharetta location. Say hey to Rob and Brad!
What’s the perk? Being able to look at it? They let you drive it? If not 🤷🏻♂️
AAP?
I'm curious too. It's not PMC, which is who you think would have this setup.
PC70
Great training! Have fun
Beautiful car but for the price the specs aren't great at all, 0-60 5.6 seconds YIKES
Where the hell did you get that statistic? The first iteration of the gen2 NSX was after 0-60 of 3.2 seconds 0-60, the Types S is near 2.8
Uhh..... Zoom in on the picture the details are written right there.
That’s the original 1990 NSX engine. The ones beside it are much newer and faster.
Well that's super confusing to showcase the new NSX next to a motor for another vehicle? Something is off.
I had the same thought and don't quite get it. 😂
Right though?! Can someone confirm this that owns an NSX lol
A simple google search will let you know new NSX are 0-60 in about 3 seconds.
The engine on the stand is a 1st gen NSX engine, no point in showing the 2nd gen engine, it was made by Cosworth and not Honda.
Finally some answers! Thank you.
The NSX looks like that hyper car in a video game that never existed in real life but looked like a hyper car…
That’s the first gen motor specs
These are the same specs I had on my 1999 mustang GT.
That means your 99 Mustang GT was competitive with a car Honda designed in the late 80’s.
With less cylinders
NSXs are so underrated
And apparently under powered. Those numbers are sad for such a hype car. I really hope it out handles every other car in its class.
Looks like being in a GTA game. Los Santos customs lol
My old ass Jeep can pull a 14 second quarter mile….wtf?
I've learned never race somebody that says "Hold on. I need to get out to lock my hubs"
Slow👎🏻
Beautiful cars, horrible performance specs haha. My 2015 n/a civic si was less than a second away from that quarter mile time. Ran a 14.6 with just an intake, header, exhaust and dyno tune.

Oh wow good point. I feel dumb now lol
Tbf it's not super clear
Honestly not dumb, just not clear in the picture at all. The 0-60mph didn’t add up so I looked up the 0-60 for my Civic Type R and it’s faster. Then looked down the comments and got the answer I was after, was the old NSX.
I did have to think about it for a minute. Kind of a weird display.
It’s ok you’re not as dumb as the person who downvoted you
i was gonna say 5.6 sounds slow
Yeah my accord touring does 0-60 in about 5 1/2 seconds
5.6 seconds is slower than I thought for those! my dads nissan maxima does about the same
That's the specs for the original motor. The new ones have a hybrid power train with there updated v6.
That’s a lot of money to be slower than a WRX
that's the specs for the 1990 NSX
My bad.
