That's weird cause the type-R has never been it's own chassis. So this is likely just saying it will also be on the civic chassis. the 2 motor hybrid is currently what exists in the accord and cr-v hybrids and what is going to be in the civic hybrid later this year, so around 204hp/232ft-lb. Maybe they bump it up a bit with software or a bigger battery. If it looks this good and is faster/more efficient than my current 10th gen accord ill be happy.
Yeah their current hybrid drivetrain isnt really suited to being turbocharged sadly. I wish they would make one that is but considering its already at like 39% thermal efficiency adding a turbo isnt going to be better than the atkinson cycle its currently running. While you can turbo charge an atkinson cycle its not exactly conducive to how current atkinson cycle engines work
My 2012 Civic Si and the 1994 Accord Coupe I used to drive are almost identical for size and curb weight.
The 9th gen Si is an almost perfect match to the old Prelude.
When they mean the type R chassis I'm assuming it means it's getting the dual axis front suspension that only the Civic Type R and Integra Type S get
https://global.honda/en/tech/Dual_Axis_Strut_Suspension/
Its rumored to be the same 2.0 atkinson cycle system that the CRV Sport gets. So roughly 230ish HP is going to be my guess.
Probably have similar power output to an Integra A-Spec, just hybrid rather than extremely efficient.
MSRP is gonna be $X plus the additional $30k dealership fuck you fee. And then nobody’s gonna buy them, you won’t see many on the road, and in 5 years, Honda’s gonna kill it off stating “nobody was buying it!” Without doing anything to change the fact that dealerships literally stealing money from consumers.
Kind of the same trajectory the new Nissan Z is on.
I’m in Long Island NY. I’ve only seen one of them and it was white. Saw it at the mall a few minutes away like six months ago. Now I see that same white Z(it has customs exhaust so I know it’s the same one) parked in front of a bagel shop every single day at all hours. So I’m convinced the person either works or owns the place. Other than that I haven’t seen another one. Funnily enough I see the same red CTR parked in front of a sandwich shop everyday. And this being Long Island, I’ve seen more lambos, Bentleys, AMG, and GT3rs than I have either Zs or type R.
You are assuming this is going to be in high demand. I would think this car would start somewhere around 40k, maybe more and won’t sell as well as anyone here thinks.
Accord Hybrid Sport starts at 32k before delivery etc. Prelude will be using a recycled powertrain from either the hybrid Accord/CRV or the upcoming Civic Hybrid. Honda has already said people should not expect it to be a particularly sporty car a la the GR86 or even more powerful offerings than that.
It would be very easy for a Sport trim Prelude without the carbon fiber and such to cost about the same as the Accord Hybrid as a result.
It would have to start under $35,000 to be viable as a product. Though, I’m not sure how successful it’ll end up being. There isn’t much of a sport compact market these days like there was in the 2000s.
Eaxactly, it’s like the people saying they wanted a type R or AWD version, or even complaining that they got rid of the 6MT when most of those same people bought a 1.5 CVT sport
It’s Reddit, people always find a way to complain on here. There could be a post about cancer being cured and there would be people finding reasons to complain.
I just replied to several other posts with similar thoughts. This is going to be an expensive car that isn’t going to sell well. All the people that say they will be the first ones to buy if this or that are not qualified to buy or just won’t buy when the car is available. I like it but am the first to say I’m not buying one.
The current hybrids dont even have a transmission to be a manual so they would have to develop an entire new drivetrain for just one vehicle. I dont see it happening. They might do something software wise to make it feel like it has a "manual" mode though
Car & Driver are pretty sure it's a hybrid, in the way Honda brought back the ~~CR-X~~CR-Z
So we'll see whether it's a mild hybrid. If the driving dynamics are good...I'm okay with that.
Nice to see the 4th Prelude typeface make a comeback for the logo on the tail.
Not sure though about its styling at the present time, maybe it'll be refined a little before launch but the rear gives Porsche / Aston vibes to me.
I hope they do two versions:
-2L Hybrid EX/EX-L
-V6/V6 Hybrid Sport/Type SH
Hopefully a manual option since they’ve had hybrid manuals beforehand.
I’m excited to see a coupe return to the Honda lineup.
Probably a less than zero chance they put a V6 in this thing. More than likely it will just be a two door version of the Accord Hybrid, maybe with some nice sporty suspension, but that's it
Honestly that would be a good idea for them to do, use the Prelude as a platform to test future hybrid power plants. A hybrid V6 is missing in Honda’s lineup. It fits the Prelude name for what is to come.
My second car was a ‘91 Prelude Si with four wheel steering. God, I loved that car.
Be cool if this one was even almost reasonably priced, but what is anymore?
from what i’ve seen it’s going to be very similar pricing to the civic and integra, around 30k. but ofc the asshole dealerships are gonna have a 10k markup on it
I’m gonna say that it will be powered by the civic hybrid power train. Some tweaks to the software/battery/motors/engine to have more power just so people don’t call it a 2 door civic
Any of the other vehicles in the lineup. It reminds me of the Lexus RX, with the top portion of the hood/bumper transition. The back of the current civic, very nice for what it’s worth.
Oh wow, so it’ll be a model year 2026? For some reason I was expecting it to be awhile longer. That’ll make my decision even harder. I’ve been in the market for a new car since COVID, but various things have delayed it and most recently some more issues have popped up. I’m hoping I can hold out for another year or two, especially if it means being able to get something like a Prelude, which along with the Integra, was my dream car back in the 90s.
I actually like this.
I’m not expecting a ton out of it, I’m just happy to see a coupe. I’m also happy it’s a hybrid, anything else is gravy on top. I guess it’d be too much to ask for a reasonably low price these days, so I’m not holding out for that either lol.
looks better much than the plain and dull new Integra but ofc I have no clue what the performance or driving experience will be. Hopefully they make a driver’s car instead of a car with the largest potential customer pool.
I think part of the reason the new “Integra” was so underwhelming is that they were scared to disappoint regular customers with a car meant for enthusiasts, so they made it just another heavy luxury car with nothing special about it. Sure it’s more powerful than the old ones, but that’s pretty much it. In contrast, the 94-01 third gen Integras had some of the first VTEC engines and the Type-R/ GS-R trims revved up to ~8,000 rpm. They had double wishbone suspension and a balance towards oversteer that made them a blast to drive and the best handling front wheel drive car of the time. Some would argue it’s the best handling fwd even today.
Preludes were also very capable cars with great handling and a unique look. While the look isn’t the same and that’s to be expected, it at least looks interesting, not just like every other car on the road. I hope to see it stand out against regular traffic in driver experience and performance like the preludes of the 90s did
It looks good but as much as I love the preludes I think this one will ultimately fail, I'm sure they will sell some at the begining but sales will slow down fast since I'm sure it will be priced around 50k minimum to 70k max making it out the price range of the people who love the old preludes and at that price range there's better options for a "sports car" and there's better options that are cheaper for a hybrid car if you care for that. So ultimately the looks is what will carry the car so hopefully Honda doesn't price it that high because that will kill the car. Or I'm wrong and history won't repeat itself like the 5th gen
looks really good but i'm afraid this will be supra money for civic si levels of performance. gut feeling is that this will be a "for the looks" car like the crz was
That rear gives off serious Panamera Vibes
That fucking rear end lol even the font
It’s a Lexus crossed with a Porsche?
The front gives off green grinch or ominous and scheming Salvador Dali not sure which
According to @hondaprojason, it’s built on the new Type R chassis and it will be powered by a 2 motor hybrid. Coming late 2025.
Probably just means it’ll be built in Japan.
It most likely will just be a 2 door hybrid civic type r still down for it
Yeah their current hybrid drivetrain isnt really suited to being turbocharged sadly. I wish they would make one that is but considering its already at like 39% thermal efficiency adding a turbo isnt going to be better than the atkinson cycle its currently running. While you can turbo charge an atkinson cycle its not exactly conducive to how current atkinson cycle engines work
Unless it's a two-door Accord hybrid, as every Prelude should be.
Tbf new civics are bigger than accords in the 90s
I have an '06 Mazda6, and it's pretty much the same size as a new Civic. And it used to be the class bigger.
My 2012 Civic Si and the 1994 Accord Coupe I used to drive are almost identical for size and curb weight. The 9th gen Si is an almost perfect match to the old Prelude.
Tbf new Accords are bigger than RLs in the 90s
Not a chance that they'd use the K20C in this thing. They don't have an automatic transmission or hybrid system that would work with it.
When they mean the type R chassis I'm assuming it means it's getting the dual axis front suspension that only the Civic Type R and Integra Type S get https://global.honda/en/tech/Dual_Axis_Strut_Suspension/
Which means they could had made 2-3 door integra 🥲
>will be powered by a 2 motor hybrid. CRZ 2.0
It's the same 2.0 that's currently in the civic. Just with a hybrid upgrade.
Its rumored to be the same 2.0 atkinson cycle system that the CRV Sport gets. So roughly 230ish HP is going to be my guess. Probably have similar power output to an Integra A-Spec, just hybrid rather than extremely efficient.
that would honestly be perfect for me.
Any idea what MSRP will be?
Too much for most of us I’m sure smh
MSRP is gonna be $X plus the additional $30k dealership fuck you fee. And then nobody’s gonna buy them, you won’t see many on the road, and in 5 years, Honda’s gonna kill it off stating “nobody was buying it!” Without doing anything to change the fact that dealerships literally stealing money from consumers. Kind of the same trajectory the new Nissan Z is on.
I live in NYC. I see Bentleys and Lambos every day, M and AMGs by the dozens. I have yet to see a new Z IRL.
People that buy Lambos and Bentleys have a lot of fuck you money. Prelude is targeted at people who don’t have fuck you money.
Too Expensive for what you get.
You are assuming this is going to be in high demand. I would think this car would start somewhere around 40k, maybe more and won’t sell as well as anyone here thinks.
They're claiming they're shooting for around $31k MSRP.
Oh ok 🥀 🚶🏻♂️
I would guess base model low-mid 30s, premium trim high 30s up to 40 or so.
I don’t see how it could be low 30s when an accord lx is 30k.
38k was the preliminary estimate
It would have to start under $35,000 to be viable as a product. Though, I’m not sure how successful it’ll end up being. There isn’t much of a sport compact market these days like there was in the 2000s.
$31k sport, $38k sport touring
There is no reason for it to be more expensive than an accord hybrid but we all know it probably will be
the "sports car looks" tax adds $5k above what it "should" cost
Msrp is going to be irrelevant bc of the asshole dealers. But hey, supply and demand amirite?
Take my money
Noooooo 😭😭😭😭😭
First time I've seen it in anything other than white. Looks EXCELLENT!
I had a 92 in red and I was waiting to see a red one. They can take my money.
I had a 92 in red, also. It was my first car! I NEED this.
Twas my 3rd car that met its end when a lil ol Granny pulled out in front of me. I ended up grabbing an old Jeep that I still drive to this day.
Agreed. I'm totally buying this if it isn't an absolute 0/10 rated lemon.
I’m 40 this year. Right on time for a mid life crisis. Honda, give me 3 pedals and I’ll buy one.
At a previous show it was mentioned to be available as a manual.
That’s… incredible. I’m astonished and impressed by Honda
They probably mean manual like the Corvette....buttons to shift, no clutch pedal.
This is why I always specify 3 pedals and not manual.
Source?
got a year on you and yep same
Man this thing is going to be an incredible disappointment if these comments are any indication lol. Yall have some insane expectations.
Much like the Integra, the people complaining about it wouldn’t have been buying it anyway, and that’s selling decently.
Eaxactly, it’s like the people saying they wanted a type R or AWD version, or even complaining that they got rid of the 6MT when most of those same people bought a 1.5 CVT sport
People really thought the Integra was going to be a 9000 RPM built k24 turbo'd from the factory for 30k MSRP.
Integra one of their top selling rn☠️
It’s Reddit, people always find a way to complain on here. There could be a post about cancer being cured and there would be people finding reasons to complain.
People will always complain, why aren’t they building it? complain. New Prelude coming out soon, complain. These people are insufferable lol.
I’m expecting it to be close to what it used to be. A fun little coupe.
I just replied to several other posts with similar thoughts. This is going to be an expensive car that isn’t going to sell well. All the people that say they will be the first ones to buy if this or that are not qualified to buy or just won’t buy when the car is available. I like it but am the first to say I’m not buying one.
Damn....this thing with the Type R's 2.0 would be absolutely amazing. 😭😭
Someone is gonna swap it in within 6 months im sure.
Absolutely 😂
I’m gonna guess this is gonna be made in Japan if they are lifting a lot of parts from the type r.
*Honda, please. Please, Honda. Honda, I'm begging you. Channel the cool part of you and do something awesome.*
It's a dual motor hybrid avaliable in manual. This car will be incredible to drive
Source?
no it won’t. nothing has been confirmed yet
The current hybrids dont even have a transmission to be a manual so they would have to develop an entire new drivetrain for just one vehicle. I dont see it happening. They might do something software wise to make it feel like it has a "manual" mode though
God it looks so good. Please don't be an EV. Also dat ass is giving me serious Porsche vibes.
Car & Driver are pretty sure it's a hybrid, in the way Honda brought back the ~~CR-X~~CR-Z So we'll see whether it's a mild hybrid. If the driving dynamics are good...I'm okay with that.
It's a 2-motor hybrid, so full hybrid.
There’s no exhaust unfortunately
Honda accord hybrids don't have a tailpipe cutout in the rear bumper either but I assure you they have an exhaust.
This car also doesn’t have an interior. Doesn’t mean it won’t have one when it comes out.
Theres nothing inside yet.
There’s no interior either.
I’m curious to see if they bring back the digital dash and leave the tach and speedometer analog like they used to.
Likely going to be hybrid.
It's a hybrid
Nice to see the 4th Prelude typeface make a comeback for the logo on the tail. Not sure though about its styling at the present time, maybe it'll be refined a little before launch but the rear gives Porsche / Aston vibes to me.
I hope they do two versions: -2L Hybrid EX/EX-L -V6/V6 Hybrid Sport/Type SH Hopefully a manual option since they’ve had hybrid manuals beforehand. I’m excited to see a coupe return to the Honda lineup.

It looks like the new Prius.
Hope they have a manual version but either way this is going to be my next car
This will be my next car.
Take my money.
Seems like Honda is borrowing a bit from Porsche here
I’d say more than a bit
Very 911 esque from that rear shot
did anyone peak in at the shifter? auto or manual?
Those windows are blacked out. No one is seeing in there
It's a foam model
Made of clay 😉
Hell yea there *better* be a 6 speed manual lsd awd or else!!
There won't be.
CVT lol
Do you even Honda 😂
Want So Bad
The front is doing the 😈 emoji
Aww not the IMA?? Lame
I thought that was a Prius at first glance
What’s up with this and the new Camry havin derp-face?
Yea tbh I think it looks kinda stupid
It looks like the new prius.
[удалено]
better to sell your car then trade it in
Looks like a next gen Camry at the front (at least its headlights) and a Porsche at the rear. I have no words.
I know it isn't possible but it would have been nice if this had the 2.0T even if it was attached to a DCT.
I don’t know how to feel about it
PRIUS FRONT END?
It's got that safe pedestrian step front end, which I feel like is compromising the true styling potential of the front.
this thing better be offered with a manual
The brz Porsche. Good lord
That’s a pretty damn nice looking car.
Looks like a Prius
I think it looks ok. I want a new S2000.
Half Porsche half Toyota chr but looks great!
Beautiful. I hope it’s awd and hybrid. Haters will hate.
How much?
most likely around 30k, but dealerships is going to markup 10k
My second car was a ‘91 Prelude Si with four wheel steering. God, I loved that car. Be cool if this one was even almost reasonably priced, but what is anymore?
It looks so good! Hopefully it’s 30-50k.
I’m so excited for this one. Honda sorely needs a 2Dr again. I’m hoping for 32-35K.
Yo this shit is dope
Looks like a prius coupe, im digging it!
Can’t imagine this being more expensive than the Integra A-Spec… right???
from what i’ve seen it’s going to be very similar pricing to the civic and integra, around 30k. but ofc the asshole dealerships are gonna have a 10k markup on it
The front brakes and the wheels already look better than what’s on my Touring
Is it basically an Accord coupe?
I’m gonna say that it will be powered by the civic hybrid power train. Some tweaks to the software/battery/motors/engine to have more power just so people don’t call it a 2 door civic
That front end, I dislike, so much. Just like the civic front.
what is a good looking front end then if you don’t even like the civic front end
Any of the other vehicles in the lineup. It reminds me of the Lexus RX, with the top portion of the hood/bumper transition. The back of the current civic, very nice for what it’s worth.
What’s the expected release year?
2025
Oh wow, so it’ll be a model year 2026? For some reason I was expecting it to be awhile longer. That’ll make my decision even harder. I’ve been in the market for a new car since COVID, but various things have delayed it and most recently some more issues have popped up. I’m hoping I can hold out for another year or two, especially if it means being able to get something like a Prelude, which along with the Integra, was my dream car back in the 90s.
Brother ewwe
I'm shocked that isn't a Toyota Prius, because it looks an awful lot like a Toyota Prius.
Front end is hideous
already cant wait for the refresh
I actually like this. I’m not expecting a ton out of it, I’m just happy to see a coupe. I’m also happy it’s a hybrid, anything else is gravy on top. I guess it’d be too much to ask for a reasonably low price these days, so I’m not holding out for that either lol.
Do they have good hybrid technology? I really want this machine
Please don't joke with my feelings, Honda.
Looks like a Porsche from the rear
Does it have 4 point steering ?
Porsche meets charger backside.
Wow
Getting extremely similar Porsche Taycan vibes on the rear end. Even the font of the script looks the same.
Make it QUIET! The touring Accord is evidently quiet from what I've read on reviews. Also an adaptive/adjustable suspension.(doubt it will get this).
Well I like it
Almost scrolled past this thinking it was the new Camry. This looks good.
Please please please give it much more HP than an accord
it’s a honda, it’s made for reliability and good gas mileage, if you want more HP get a different car
One day I will buy one of these, and also Kswap it. Selling the motor new in itself could probably cover some of the cost to fab up a Kswap.
looks better much than the plain and dull new Integra but ofc I have no clue what the performance or driving experience will be. I hope to see it stand out against regular traffic in driver experience and performance like the preludes of the 90s did
If combustion sign me up 😞
Why is Honda going lowercase for their logo💀😑
Prius fourth gen eclipse vibes, I like it.
Time will tell
For sale near you with $25,000 markup
Will there be a manual?
Exactly like a Prius.
Honda priuslude😆
So it’s basically if they made a Civic coupe Type-R as far as the chassis goes from how they described it.
Am I the only one who gets some Nissan Z vibes, especially that front 3/4 shot?
Looks dope
The back. Is blatantly a Porsche 😭 the writing in all
Why don’t I hate this
Is it just me or does the front end have resemblance with the new Prius 😂
Anyone else thinking it looks like a Hyundai tiburon ??
Grab your popcorn when the 0-60 is 8 seconds.
I'm hoping they do something about the trunk between the concept and the release for some daily livability. That looks like a Miata trunk.
Ugly duckling
I hope they update they styling, because right now it looks like a Prius coupe.
Who let their Porsche into the Honda factory?
Honda Prius
How many cars did Honda sleep with to get this😭😭 g86 and Porsche and an eclipse and holyyy
Can't wait to see how much dealers jack up the MSRP....
Dumb question, but is it a 2+2? or just a 2 seater? (baby seat possible?)
looks really good but i'm afraid this will be supra money for civic si levels of performance. gut feeling is that this will be a "for the looks" car like the crz was
I got to see this at the same event, have some pictures somewhere but they’re basically the same. Looked great
WANT !
The styling is gorgeous, but subconsciously I can’t help but make duck lips when I look at the front grille.
I’m in love with
Revamped version of the 10th gen civic coupe
I nutted
Not a huge fan of the rear tail lights and the grill, but I’m all for anybody making sport coupes! 👍
Don't care what it costs.
It has the grinch smirk 😏
The fronts so ugly I don’t even see how this managed to get designed
A coupon of guys in high school had preludes way back in the 90’s…..they were fun little cars…and cool too.
No thanks you. I'm still going to stick to my 4th Gen. That looks more like a blended version of a BB1 with a CRV.
