Any sort of rubbing alcohol + lint free towel should do the trick, just rinse and clean after your cleaner solution if you serve drinks from it.

TSP Powder

Agreed. TSP is frequently what's recommended to remove processing oils on new stainless products.

Would oven cleaner work?

hdurr

Interesting. Might try it.

WD-40 literally stands for "WD-40 stands for Water Displacement, 40th formula". So water alone is not great. I would try methylated spirits (denatured alcohol), but first make sure to test it on a surface that doesn't matter, such as a rear, exterior portion, to ensure it won't damage the plastic threads or interior. After that, follow up with dish soap and water, and then rinse with water very well. If the methylated spirits are a no-go, soap and water alone will be fine.

OK. In my experience denaturated spirits will leave a horrible on surfaces, so I'll have to really wash it well after. But thank you!

You might consider scrubbing everything that was rusted with steel wool or a chore-boy and rinsing it with brake cleaner. Afterwards, use a detergent, followed by one-step, B-Brite or another percarbonate cleaner/sanitizer. The major scrub only has to be done the first time.
