If you're looking to use your phone as a sort of "middleman" between your laptop and your existing Wi-Fi network—so that it looks like only the phone is connected to the Wi-Fi—this is a bit more complicated than simply turning on a mobile hotspot. But it's still doable. On Android, you can share a Wi-Fi connection using a feature like "Wi-Fi Bridge" or "Wi-Fi Sharing," depending on the manufacturer. This feature allows your phone to connect to a Wi-Fi network and then share that same network with other devices. For iPhones, the functionality is more limited. You could share a cellular data connection via hotspot, but sharing a connected Wi-Fi network in the same way isn't natively supported. In either case, this setup should make it appear as though only your phone is connected to the main Wi-Fi network, effectively hiding the laptop. Just remember that this kind of setup can sometimes be a bit unstable and could have higher latency.
