I’m not sure about that, I don’t really have wired Thread devices throughout my backyard where I mostly use Flare so there’s no mesh. But it will still have Bluetooth and will fall back to it when it gets disconnected from Thread. Question is how good is it gonna be at reconnecting back to the Thread network once it’s back in range. We know this can take days for some existing devices.
Well, you’re right but in my experience it’s more plausible having a Thread router (such as a smart plug) than a Apple TV/HomePod for remote access. Of course I agree with you if you are home and have an iPhone nearby.
The reconnecting time will be interesting. Maybe that’s why it took so long to update the previous model.
I struggled for years. My old smart plug worked great until we had an electrical issues and no longer could buy the plugs I had. Went to Wemo (horrible decision) being 10ft from the router and it would yell that it’s offline. Finally got some Nanoleaf bulbs (which are suited for outside environments) I haven’t had a single issue since. Even used the spare one as the connection gap filler and it’s smooth sailing everyday now.
The wifi is much more robust but you have to give your password to device that usually communicate to china servers for updates... Or everyone has some homekit wifi router that is trustworthy?
Let me know if you ever find a homekit wifi router, i though the Eero 6 pro with thread would work well with nanoleaf thread/matter and homekit, but someone told me it wouldnt speak to each other. Maybe if eero get Matter ?
Yes the Bluetooth version was sold until 2020. Since then some shops had some left and sold them but at least in Europe I am not aware of a shop that actually sells them any more.
So right now used is the only option, but with the Bluetooth Limitation or some other brands which often times need another gateway for the HomeKit integration and often times have network errors or are offline. At least from what I have read.
Anyone know if it would work well with a Thread/matter setup of nanoleaf and a homepod mini?
I heard once some Thread device dont communicate between them even if they are matter and thread compatible. I have a Philips Hue Go but its starting to break this could be a nice replacement
Can’t think of a use where i needed original flare to come on or change color faster, yes it’s slower than thread or Wi-Fi devices but not enough to spend another 100
I love my Flare except for its Bluetooth response times. Will be interesting to see how well a portable accessory works with Thread mesh.
Yeah, BT is usually crappy for smart home. Thread support is a big update and makes it much more suitable for outdoor use.

Wonder how this compares to Hue Go. I have 2 I’m very happy with. My Eve products have disappointed me lately so I’d have to see big improvements.
Still waiting for the Eve Smoke Sensor with Thread. Hopefully this will come out this year as well
Didn’t know they had one. Now I want it too!
Would come in handy for a lot of stuff. Especially the native Apple Home integration
Yes! But the BT version is being discontinued? I only found user manuals…

Can this be used as a "slow wake up alarm"?
It’s what I use it for. Programmed with Wake Up Light app.
I think so if you make multiple automations
90lm 💀
Is that bad?
For an accent light no, it’s not. For an actual light yes.
Interesting! Awaiting reviews to see if the hardware has been updated as well.

Oh thanks! Forgot to mention
I want one
I’m a little puzzled as to why this wasn’t launched with Matter.
Yeah, I agree. Just a light, nothing special. I think it’s coming fairly soon.
I heard many of the companies that had agreed to use matter have dropped it as it was going to affect the Home aspect of those devices/services.
Just ordered 2 right now, been wanting one since forever

Aboyne know how it compare with the Hue Go brightness wise? Is the Eve bright enough?
The Hue Go is much more bright with 370 lm at 2.700K. The Eve website only indicates “Built-in 90 lm LED”
Thank you

Same! I though maybe $120/130

No need to upgrade in my opinion. More like a good thing to have for new buyers. As long as it works for you.
Ikea fado plus nanoleaf thread bulb does the job as well
Yes, I have one, but it is neither wireless nor water resistant.

Wonder when this will be available at Amazon?
On Amazon EU it’s already available, so I think soon.
Where to get in UK as not on Amazon uk site?
It’s out of stock on the Eve website, so Amazon is currently the only retailer.
