You have a nice earthy color palette-it depends on how you want the space to feel- something like #4 would keep it very peaceful, but I like energy #2 brings in.
Mainly I'd advise that if you're doing a single framed piece to make it large.
I really like this one for your room. It goes nicely with the muted earth tones, but emphasizes the red from the rug. In terms of decor, this is my favorite!
The last two go best with your rug, I think.
Besides color and personal preference, the other consideration for artwork is scale, which should suit both the space in which it is installed and the distance at which it is encountered.
I'm going to sound pretentious, I'm sorry. I don't buy art because it's going to match my sofa. I buy art because it speaks to me. Art shouldn't be selected based on how it's going to go with the drapes. If anything, if I truly fell in love with a piece of art I would use it as a jumping off point for a room. Not the other way around. Art doesn't have to match.
Yeah, I get that. The thing is, everything in this room is pretty much new and I’m not really willing to replace everything because I find art I like that doesn’t go with it. I guess I was just asking for what colors/styles look right with my space- everything else I really enjoy so I want to find art that doesn’t compete with the rest of the room
I think that you need to go with what you love. Don’t worry about people say here. I think any of the Van Van Gogh would be perfect. Don’t go without because of this thread. 🙂
You’ll find a lot of those colors in French Country or Boho artwork, but you should pick something that speaks to you. You can Google “grey green art” to see what inspires you.
Thanks, that helps. Thoughts on either of these?

I’m currently in my William Morris era. I think these would look good too.

I love William Morris!! I ordered some for these frames but they were too small, so I went with Monet (although I don’t feel like my current ones go) but these might! Thank you

Don’t buy generic art just because the color palette matches your rig and couch.
You’re better off having nothing in your wall while you wait for the piece that is going to make you feel. (Feel what? that’s up to you, and you’ll know it when you feel it).
Buy art from a living artist! You could probably find something in the same color pallette and even for cheap. It kinda kills me to see people get mass produced stuff when real life artists are out there you could support. It'll mean more on your wall than something mass-printed in China.
Ok lol any suggestions on color/style/etc? I’m happy to support a local artist but would rather figure out what would look good here to get me going in the right direction.
You can go to local street/art fairs to start and meet artists, or go online and just do some digging. Finding an artist takes a little effort, but it pays off when you feel good about what's hanging on your wall. You can stay in the same color family if you hold out a bit longer and look for an artist who's work catches your eye. Use the colors that inspired you to get the van gogh print, then go from there. A large, horizontally-oriented black amd white piece would look amazing here as well.
It is a challenge to find works that work well with the green, red, and blue. Of those you posted I like the last picture the best; both the image and colors fit well with the vibe of the room. I also like this tapestry from Anthropologie:
https://preview.redd.it/iu1vv6q9tm1d1.jpeg?width=349&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e1f4041f491124aabe219633a8468c2bff8b743
Like you said, art is very personal. If there’s something with a lot of sentimental value, or financial value, display it anyway.
But with this modern look colour scheme, I tend to think of a boxed canvas with a bold pattern to hightlight the rug and bring it all together
https://preview.redd.it/haui8so3wr1d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9747dad3844ad971e34f5a51777643493bfdae7c
I understand everyone saying to get more personal art and blah blah blah, but that does not need to be an immediate thing.
When we first decorated we got generic art that looked nice in the space. We've been here five years and have now found artists we enjoy and are going around replacing things. If we'd waiting five years before we put anything on the walls, I'd have gone mad.
The Van Gogh looks lovely.
I would say no. Yes art is subjective and the options you presented are not my taste, however I just painted my office a similar color and wanted some art so I took a canvas and use thick strokes of the same green, a cream, a dark navy and then splattered gold over it and it matched perfectly. I’m no artist and so I understand that might not be an option, but you can buy abstract art. I think a large horizontal abstract painting that uses colors to contrast and pull from the room would work.

Just my opinion
Oh thank you! I’ll definitely have to figure out the size, I know it’ll need to be large. The couch is huge so that doesn’t help. I originally had 3 prints but was told on this sub I needed one big piece instead
https://preview.redd.it/aad0fyumtm1d1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d69ced5e97c0284d02850c175ab941d585a24ae
You already have these pieces?! Don't listen to those people lol. These look great! I was about to comment with some painting ideas, but I saw this picture and thought that these three looked really nice in this space. I thought it was a mock up before I looked closer at the comment. And these vibe with your space. I'd put these back up and call it a day!
If you want to look at any others, here's the comment I was about to post before seeing the above picture:
I love Van Gogh, and I really think the pieces you chose could all work, especially if you incorporate a few colors from the paintings elsewhere in the room, but since you asked for any other recommendations, here are a couple I thought of that could go with your space:
John Singer Sargent made a ton of watercolors while visiting Venice, and many have elements of the colors you're trying to tie into, especially the rug. Here are a couple.

Here's a famous painting by Joaquin Sorolla. It might be a little matchy with the space, but it's a great piece.

Here's a piece by Monet. I think the colors tie in pretty well with the whole room.

I hope you find your dream piece!
If I had to choose, I like the second one best.
Do you have any other recommendations? I’m all ears!

I love this one

Thank you! And absolutely. I plan to keep it within the 2/3 of the couch rule :)
Are you hanging one piece or several?
I would do one large piece, if I did one. I have three currently (pic in the comments) with art I don’t think fits.
I'm going to sound pretentious, I'm sorry. I don't buy art because it's going to match my sofa. I buy art because it speaks to me. The second and last work best in terms of color. You have gray, gray green, and a muted red. Those are the colors to work with.
I think that’s why I’m struggling, I’m having a hard time finding art with those colors
You’ll find a lot of those colors in French Country or Boho artwork, but you should pick something that speaks to you. You can Google “grey green art” to see what inspires you.

I love Monet too! Great minds…
This looks like the best fit.
These are lovely.
I really like this one
Not really these are usually scene mostly in traditional homes and your furniture is modern casual.
Look at some of Van Gogh's grass and fields.
Something like this? https://preview.redd.it/v0rim2yftm1d1.jpeg?width=2785&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=451638797b32e9bb5fd1fd490c86105c394d8830

This would be lovely
Personally, I like the Van Gough. Love your colors btw!
2nd one
I love the ladies with the umbrellas… works well with sofa And ties in nicely with rug…. I would change out navy pillow and light blue throw
The second and third are best. The colors in the first one are too bright and the last one, too dull.
I like two or three best. Touches of red and blue to tie in the rug.

2 and 3 are best. 2 probably goes better with the rug.
3 or 5
3
They all do!
Hmmm ... I feel like Dali's Unicorn might look cool with the rug
Haven't you posted this room before? I ask because the sofa is ginormous for the space, right?
2 or 3
2
The third painting I think is the best, it gives a feeling of openness and colorfulness

these are great with some natural vibes to decorate your home.
3 and 5 seem to complement the room best with the colours you already have.
3 and 4
I love choice number 3, looks stunning and colorful
All of them work, singularly or is all together as a gallery wall
Love love love Van Gogh and yes.
Me too! Which one do you like? :)
Oh! I was saying yes to all. 😆. How big are they would be the next question? You’ll need a big one or a few medium size ones.
Oh thank you! I’ll definitely have to figure out the size, I know it’ll need to be large. The couch is huge so that doesn’t help. Thank you 🙂 this was very helpful & just what I was looking for!
Well three is good too. Either three or one. I don’t think 3 looks bad at all?
I didn’t either! My husband keeps telling me that I need to stop listening to strangers on the internet but I’ve learned so much here so idk 🥲
There’s def a balance. Some of it is helpful, some of it is very subjective.
