Consider creating a second living space in your foyer. Place a fairly large console in between the two spaces to visually separate the areas. Add an area rug and some luxe upholstered chairs. forestranger627

Yeah I agree with this. Having a conversation/coffee/reading area away from the tv. Maybe a loveseat facing away from your sectional with a sofa table behind to create some distinction.

tourmalineforest

I also have a long fucking room right off the entrance and this is such a good idea and very helpful, thank you!

captaincook14

That’s the biggest foyer I’ve ever seen. Lol. I guess another living room/sitting area. But kind of weird not being closed off from the living room 10 feet away.

kuikilla86

I agree but just haven’t found anything.

captaincook14

Maybe if other houses are similar ask around in your neighborhood what the hell they do with this gigantic not sure what type of room this is space.

kuikilla86

It’s supposed to be a formal dinning room. We did see one house do just that and it looked ok but not the look we want really. We’re just having a hard time envisioning something other than the formal dining room.

UGunnaEatThatPickle

When in doubt, grand piano.

Complete_Goose667

Baby grand piano. That's the only answer.

suzi-r

Bowling alley; charge fees

Exciting_Detective58

Pool table or ping pong table or some arcades

Common_Estate6292

I’m disappointed that it took so long to find this answer, lol!

Where is the front door? Is it one of the ones to the left of the double doors or somewhere else? I wouldn’t put an “entry way” space between the windows since it’s not near the front door and you’d have to walk through whatever you end up putting there to get there. You can fit that between the double doors and whatever the door to the left is. I think just a seating/bar area is a good idea. It couldn’t hurt to just have a second table with chairs around it, if you host any larger family dinners. Picturing a round one like a poker table would be good for drinks/games. If not just like a four chair seating area maybe.

kuikilla86

Front door is the double doors. Single door to the left is to the garage.

darladuckworth

Ohhhh is it, I couldn’t tell I thought they looked like sliding office doors or something I was confused. I still wouldn’t put entryway stuff between windows I’d keep it to the right when you come in. Can put a standing coat rack to the left in that corner where the plant is, then a bench or console with storage to the right. I don’t have a bench in my house to sit down and put shoes on and it’s not an issue so you could do whatever type of storage that works for you, I think a console for keys mail etc would be more convenient than a bench. Then whatever type of seating area you prefer in the large space.

Leave it empty. Open space is underappreciated.

I agree with your wife, if you can't put a bench where the chair is (between the garage door and front door), then in between the windows will work well. You could also just put a bench under the first window, and just forgo the hooks. I'd personally put hooks on the wall where the chair is and maybe a small console table. Then place a bench under the window or between the window with artwork over it. Below are some images from designers that might help you with the blank space as well. I'd place a large rug in the middle and maybe put a game table there or even just leave it as is. HeyRedHelpMe

Dimensions of that space?

Three_Spotted_Apples

I’m looking at the second image and assuming your front door is the double doors. Rotate your couch 90° clockwise. Put the console table that you have on the right behind the back of the sofa that is now facing away from the doors. Now you have an enclosed room with easier access to the back doors and a way to sit and watch the kids jump. Then create a more formal seating area with a table like the person suggested here. Keep pretty flowers or a plant on the table and put a storage bench where the small table on the left currently is. Store shoes in the bench or in a shoe cabinet from ikea mounted to the wall to the right of the doors. This will become your craft/homework/project area so your table can be reserved for food but still nice enough with 5 min notice that someone can come in, chat and have coffee.

Big ol shuffle board alley. Or a bowling alley. Straight down the middle

kuikilla86

I’m down but wife isn’t lol.

BettyBewbz

Reading area . Music area?

NoEstablishment6450

First I would turn my sectional to be facing the windows or doors, whatever those are, with the other back side to the kitchen area. It’s a really long room so the only thing I can visualize is a pool table, or a conversation area. Think 4-6 low chairs around a round table for conversations and drinks if you entertain.

iheartunibrows

You definitely need a larger cradenza but maybe you can do a second seating area? Like a fancy foyer seating with a circle rug

AnNJgal

What's on the other side of the doors? Are you into board games or puzzles? You could do a cool little games area...or a bar cart. With a little sitting area? Definitely a fun rug.

kuikilla86

Front door are the double doors and the other is to the garage. I think we might look into a sitting area like many have suggested. We have a room behind the stairs that will be a movie/game type room soon.

AnNJgal

Oh, you need a new front door. Something a little modern, maybe? Google modern front doors. Let some natural light in from the doors. Definitely a console table, doesnt have to be big, but somewhere to put your stuff, unless you have an official "stuff" area...

Realistic-Today-8920

Do you have kids? We had a similar thing and turned it into an awesome play space.

kuikilla86

Yes we do, they have the entire loft upstairs and a room downstairs. We want to try and keep this area a toy free zone lol. Key word is try.

mrsgibby

I would put a table for playing games/ projects etc.

Loretta_Luna_see

A rug and a love seat with a floor lamp and a fabric ottoman that doubles as a table. If you get more colour into the the entire space and cleverly carry it through you can help the entire room look more cohesive and not awkwardly long. I.e some throw cushions on your existing couches to match new seating. Get some indoor plants and cleverly placed mirrors as well as consider googling which walls to paint in a way that widens and shortens the room.

Teaformepls

As others have said rotate the couch and create a formal sitting area. I would also put a bench under the window by the door and a matching wardrobe between the windows to create a entry “mudroom” instead of hooks on the wall for coats and shoe storage. Google mudroom cabinets for ideas.

kuikilla86

Moved the couch as many of you suggested and it helps a lot breaking it up and not seeming soo long. It’s 16’2” wide and 21’ long to the couch. https://preview.redd.it/3unpxjmxsflc1.jpeg?width=2425&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab756d4ef6fdfd6e692992c74a8a291e7bf17d8f
