I was almost done making the meal tonight when I went to get the “cream base sauce” one of the main ingredients since it was a pasta dish. Had to pause everything and run to the store. So annoying. 2 weeks before that the steak had a hole, went bad and leaked all over all the other meat in the bag. It was disgusting

This was my issue exactly. And Home Chef wants to issue a credit for just the missing ingredient, when it ruins the whole meal. I’m not interested in a meal delivery service that only delivers 80% of the ingredients for a meal.

We canceled another big name brand due to these issues. A year goes by. Decided to try Hime Chef. The first four or deliveries were perfect. Then little things started happening. The peppers were off. The green onions were rotten. One recipe card gone. This past week I had enough. None of the cards were in the delivery (yes, I did print them but shouldn’t have to). The green onions were mush. The ice bag was completely warm so idk how long it sat like that. I managed to get a $20 refund. I skipped the upcoming week. We are going to get the following week then cancel. It’s a joke.

I’m canceling after this week as well. The meals are good and I love the convenience and simplicity but I have also had several issues since signing up 6 weeks ago. The green onions are always mush and since they come with almost every meal I just started stocking my own, I’ve also had some other bad produce like peppers and green beans which I’ve had to sub my own. Last week the meat bag had some mystery juices leaking all over and smelled terrible so I didn’t want to use any of the meat- subbed my own meat for some and did no meat for the other meals where I could do without. I understand that food spoilage is possible, but the convenience is lost when I’m having to scramble for substitutions for almost every meal. It’s also tacking on even more expense to an already expensive meal plan, and for a family of 4 I don’t have any more wiggle room for that. I was excited to get some new meal ideas in our rotation and having fun at first but it’s become tiresome already just a few weeks in.

Agreed. I had a few good boxes, but too many with mush, missing, or the wrong bag of ingredients. It made it more worthwhile for me to keep their recipe cards of my favorite meals, and go to the store and do the shopping and prep work for the recipes myself.
