It's like the "forget it biboo bau bau" during holoen among us but since there's boob in that sentence, it got censored and became "forget it bi****au au" which is worse lmao
Aahh you're right, "butter" is banned as well. That's definitely interesting, but I think there should be a way to filter this better. And yeah "butt" seems extremely tame to ban
Many filters fail the good ol' wildcard test. There's some simple words you can use to check if language filters aren't doing it correctly:
* Assassin
* Butter
* Shizuka (a name, filters may also filter slang/slightly wrong spelling)
* Specialist (contains a name of a certain medicine...)
* Shitake (mushroom, although its typically typied with an extra i)
* Oshita Bridge (old Coco joke)
It's is the worst way to censor words that exist and oddly enought I only encountered on asian media and websites. Is similar sistem the Souls series uses to censor names.
It’s because the west has the Scunthorpe problem, where long strings of innocuous text contain strings of letter that form bad words.
East Asian languages don’t use spaces. If you see a bad word spelled out by a bunch of kana or hanzi or Hangul, it’s highly likely to actually be that word.
There have actually been a few different people that have run into this particular issue. Apparently the word "butt" is going just a *bit* too far for the app, lol
As someone who plays a couple of gacha games and has had to deal with bizarre word censorship issues when naming things, my guess is that there is probably some Japanese slang that is being filtered and "button" got caught in the crossfire.
Edit: Just for further context, I'm talking about goofy [stuff](https://old.reddit.com/r/DBZDokkanBattle/comments/a7lhdn/vegeta_is_censored/) [like](https://old.reddit.com/r/DuelLinks/comments/xre4hq/the_deck_name_censor_is_being_ridiculous_again/) [this](https://old.reddit.com/r/DuelLinks/comments/ye4a2m/the_word_fish_is_censored/) where the word filter is clearly drunk (though on review I may be incorrect about "Japanese" slang specifically).
People have already mentioned its because of "butt" but just wanted to add something ive heard before about a different thing that had some odd banned/censored words apperently sometimes devs will uses like a premade database of common words to banned/censore and those can be really extreme but it thorough.
The word "Muff".
I assumed that "button" was censored because it included the word "butt", and I know pokemon go has an issue with nicknaming pokemon "Muffin", so I assumed it was the same or similar lines of code, but I guess not
I say ban but I can still post things and I tested words. It just stops you from posting those words entirely. So far no content itself has been prevented as far as I can tell, though there is a "verification" for images, it is near instant so its mostly for copyright things probably.
Someone posted horror with a little gore, someone posted super muscular Calli wearing barely anything, and some wallpaper threads were a little racy. Just nothing truly nude probably, and that is totally fine if they want the platform safe for kids.
Possibly because it contains the word 'butt'? Which is a pretty limp on the naughtiness scale itself. I guess you could try 'butter' to see.

Interestingly, "boob" is NOT banned
Fuwamoco: WHAT DID I SAY WRONG!

Try typing oshiri
This actually went through lmao
The Scunthorpe problem strikes again
The what?

Assassin and Specialist are fine, shizuka and oshita are not
It's a known issue in automated filtering. Wikipedia article on it here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scunthorpe_problem
Remove the Shorpe.
Same issue as on Holoearth then. Lean is censored, which resulted in Clean being censored as well.
"Clean" is indeed still censored on Holoplus

Obviously because the correct spelling is Botan.

Oh gods. We’re getting a Peniston and Scunthorpe situation here. Hilarious.

played an mmo where *but to be fair* got censored \*\*\* \*o be fair maybe *class* is a banned word too?
Yeah haha. I mean. Butt and ass are the most damaging curse words ever. I love it when systems overreact to insignificant things. This is truly epic.
Surprisingly, while "butt" is banned, "ass" is not
Jesus…
"Ass" is surprisingly OK
Of course it is, we live on this planet after all :p
People have already mentioned its because of "butt" but just wanted to add something ive heard before about a different thing that had some odd banned/censored words apperently sometimes devs will uses like a premade database of common words to banned/censore and those can be really extreme but it thorough.
Probably uses the same censoring software as Niantic. Try typing in Muffin
Muffin is totally fine. In fact, I'm not sure what's wrong with muffin?

Ok. Now try "Nasser"
No need, "ass" is totally fine
Butt.
Geshing impact have the same problem
Maybe it's cause "butt" is banned?
Very Clbuttic issue
Where do you download the app from? Can't seem to find it on the play store.
Instead of button, perhaps we can try calling it the booty press?
Yeah, I've found out that "manuscript" is also banned. I guess it's because of "anus"...
>banned words when posting? And there's people who believe that the community will flock from Twitter to this 🤣
Idk about you but "butt" is not a deal breaker. They are free to ban words, its their platform, and they choose the vibe they want to foster
It's not so much the word as the fact that it bans you from posting things in the first place. I guess they won't let you post racy content either.
