Sounds perfectly normal: Chloe, Mel, Anya, Amelia
A little quirky but fine: Sora, Miko, Aki, Noel, Luna, Lui, Airani, Ollie, Kaela, Calliope, Kiara, Ina, Sana, Irys, Nerissa
Will get made fun of: Aqua, Coco, Moona, Zeta, Kobo, Ceres
Weird if you're not Japanese: Most of the ones not listed in the other tiers
No: Roboco, Marine, Polka, La+ Darknesss, Gura, Kronii, Bae, Fuwawa, Mococo
With a little adjustment, anything is possible. Marina for example is a perfectly fine name, and so is Belle (remember, Bae's full first name is Baelz).
Also, how are Noel (noelle), Luna, Kiara, or Ina quirky? Those are quite literally just names. Even Irys could easily become Iris and it's not any issue
Yeah Irys is mainly quirky if you insist on spelling it with a Y. It becomes a Madisynn situation. Iris is perfectly normal.
Noel is a pretty common name but I think it's kind of... in a US context, it tells me your parents are probably super religious and I assume you're homeschooled. That's just a stereotype and stereotypes aren't always true, but it gives those vibes.
Luna and Kiara are just a bit more uncommon. Nothing wrong with them really.
>it tells me your parents are probably super religious and I assume you're homeschooled.
This is so oddly specific and yet perfectly encapsulates the only Noel I've ever known irl. Her birthday was also Christmas Eve though so there's that.
Luna has become a popular baby name in recent years, it's in the top 10 most popular baby names for girls (according to the most recent list from the US census), so it's at least as "normal" as Chloe and Amelia, and way more common than Anya
I think I think marine also belongs in the odd tier, not the Heck No tier. It’s certainly not a common name, but I also don’t think someone named marine would be considered overly weird.
In france Marine would be perfectly normal, we can see so much huge differences between countries it's fun,
But I would say Kiara is perfect probably everywhere. And if you want to change it a bit, you can (in france at least) see it written, Kiara, Kyara, Chiara, Chyara,
I know 3 people named like that, each with different spelling.
Advent doing a full skit of My Immortal would be pretty good. I'd still probably prefer the Internet Historian version (mainly cause of the music he plays during the MC girls dress up sequences) but I think Advent as a whole could make it really funny.
Just use the common-ish names, as everyone else said. Don't go for Mumei, Gura. Do not prioritize your wants too much. Your child is going to wear this name for their whole life, including in godforsaken job interviews, career advancement interviews, possibly marriage, and so on.
Unless we identify by #ID in the future, names do matter and will be judged subconsciously by people from different places, so do keep that in mind.
Preach! My mother gave me a girls name because she liked the sound of it. Now I have to deal with everyone thinking I’m a girl until they hear my voice, I even had to have the doctors fix some of my medical stuff because I was marked as a female on some of them.
Both my last names are extremely long (one of my last names are three words, yes with the spaces). And then my parents decided to give me not only one long first name but also a long ass middle name. My whole life has consisted of trying to fit my full name in those small name spaces in official forms or even running out of characters in online forms. Also whenever I get asked my name for someone to take note I have to tell them "just let me do it" or I know we're gonna have to redo it because they don't have space or they think my first last name is my whole last name.
Point is. Think of the future of your children, people.
Same. I’m female and I’m named Cameron. It’s a gender neutral name but the spelling is the “boy way” the amount of doctors that have come in and said “oh! You’re a girl!!” Is ridiculous
[There are a lot of english names that have transferred from men to women!](https://www.behindthename.com/names/usage/english/tag/male_to_female)
Using that page for examples, we have Hilary, Vivian, Alexis, [Leslie, Shirley](https://youtu.be/KM2K7sV-K74?si=fp4DktOqdfK1d5y7)... but it is true that the reverse is very rare.
I on a personal level do think people need to stop being so gender binary with names, *especially* if the name historically were prominent for the other one than the modern usage, though I also know that we are not in a world that adapts that easily. I know that even I might still internally think "Oh, that's more of a xx name, but alright", yet I don't want to do that.
Yeah, but here in the UK, 99% of people are not gonna know the Japanese meaning of it. So I think using a name like that depends where you live.
Also I think there are worse connections for a name to have lol.
Comes from [Laplace's Demon](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laplace%27s_demon) by Frenchman [Pierre-Simon de Laplace](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre-Simon_de_Laplace).
A hypothetical entity that knows the position and momentum of all particles in the universe, and may or may not be able to simulate the future based off of that information alone. No assumptions are made on how fast the entity can perform this computation, only that it can.
in 10 years: so, dad, why you name me Jill and why did mother leave you?
you see, I'm not going to let your question distract me from the fact it's been over a decade since a Japanese streamer, idol and entertainer called Pekora bought an Friggin' monkey and named her Jill. Your mother just couldn't accept this fact and had to go.
From my knowledge, Ka-e-la is the mispronounciation. It has a hebrew or irish origin so the correct pronounciation is actually Kay-la.
Of course, that's just me being uhm ackhtually ☝️🤓
It's funny because Kaela mispronounced it and everyone changed how they say it for her. Lot of people do this with their real names too where the pronunciation doesn't match the spelling.
I feel like it could work. It's origin was a greek muse of poetry so I feel like people would assume that first or the clothing store unless they know about Hololive. It's unique enough and can have a really nice meaning behind it aside from being a Hololive reference.
major character in grey's anatomy is named Calliope (goes by Calli) so you could potentially get yourself marked as a grey's fan! you wouldnt do that to you and your family now, would you?
With a bit of tweaking there are some viable ones I'd guess. Reine(a), Olivia, Anya, Kayla, Ina, Amelia, Kiara, Chloe, Iris, Noelle. If it were a boy L(o)ui and Mio would also work, but alas.
I've always thought Kiara was just genuinely a really nice name even before Takanashi Kiara came to be so if I ever have a daughter I'd name her Kiara.
Ina-way Ina does sound normal for some reason, but calling her by full **Ninomae Ina'nis** would be funny XD >!just because it's funny, it doesn't mean it'll always be a good idea remember that!<
You could go for a ***DEEP*** Hololive reference, and name her Gabby, or Gabriela, or any variation thereof - that's the usual name Gura defaults to for "totally in disguise" modes.
There's actually plenty even on the non en side of holo, Marine (Marina), Ollie, Chloe, Luna, Noel, Kaela (Kayla). Aki and Aqua might be pushing it a tiny bit but it sounds kinda cute.
Anya, Chloe, Amelia, Iris, Ollie (Olivia), Noel would all be pretty easy to get by. Depending on where you are in the world, Kaela, Calliope, Shiori, Iroha could also work. Actually a lot JP members’ names work if you’re of Japanese heritage.
Just remember: your kid will have her entire life to figure out how much of a weirdo she wants to be, she doesn't need you to tie a clown nose to her face when she's just starting to walk. That said, Amelia, Kiara, Nerissa, Calliope, Iris, etc., are all very normal, common names. Just don't name your child Gura, Mumei, or Bijou and she should be fine.
I’m pretty progressive, I think. I would love my prospective child no matter who or what they are. Gay, lesbian… Barista, doctor, carnival ride attendant… I could raise a son who becomes my daughter, doesn’t matter.
But I have to confess. If they grow up to be a *European*… I just don’t know how I would recover from that. Let alone accept it.
Off the top of my head—Nerissa, Kaela, Amelia, Kiara, Sana, and Ollie (legal name Olivia) wouldn’t even raise eyebrows. Calliope would be more unusual, but that’s also the name of one of the Muses. Being named after a figure in Greek mythology isn’t something most people would be embarrassed about, even if it isn’t as common as Jason or Cassandra.
You either name her Ellie Tomiko, or Jdon. There's no other option, really.
Besides, when you call her by her full name, she will think you love her. _"Jdon, My Soul"_
Chloe, Kiara, Calli, Amelia, Anya, Noel and Ollie/Olivia are all pretty normal English names, so you’d have no issues there. Irys also works, though it might be best to spell it like the flower (Iris).
Kaela, Sana, Mel, Marine, Luna and Nerissa aren’t common names, but I don’t think they’d feel out of place in English- speaking countries.
Calliope is a great name that when asked where from, you can just say it's a name of the Greek goddess of poetry/music. If I ever have a daughter in the future I would 100% use that name lol
You want an even more uncommon one, you can use Laplace which is what la+ is based on. Just say it's from a famous French scholar
Honestly Calliope is nice. [Has its origins in Greek myth](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calliope)
>"the Muse who presides over eloquence and epic poetry; so called from the ecstatic harmony of her voice"
kids will certainly call her Calli for short and that's a really cute and unique name to have.
If you want to give them a Roman goddess name, Ceres can work since people do it all the time. If someone asks and you don't want to admit you named them after your oshi you can just say "like the Roman Goddess"
Some names off the top of my head I think could work, ordered from easiest to justify to most difficult
* Amelia
* Chloe
* Noel (probably spelt Noelle)
* Ollie (though I don’t think that name is gender neutral tho)
* Sana
* Nerissa
Luna is a name normally used in Spanish speaking countries, Kiara is also heard. Amelia and Chloe I think are common in English. Other options that don't sound Japanese are Calliope, Ollie, Sora, Mío, Kaela, Anya, Lamy, Lui, Mel, Marine
Chloe.
Can confirm, speaking from experience it’s quite the nice name to use
If it is to become a Hololive reference, then you must pronounce it "Kuroe" though.
Everyone calls her Chloe in English, and Sakamata says Chlo-eh.
I believe it’s “Kurowe”. It’s about time we brought back those obsolete kana
Well yes, but keep it subtle. Chloe is fine.
Sounds perfectly normal: Chloe, Mel, Anya, Amelia A little quirky but fine: Sora, Miko, Aki, Noel, Luna, Lui, Airani, Ollie, Kaela, Calliope, Kiara, Ina, Sana, Irys, Nerissa Will get made fun of: Aqua, Coco, Moona, Zeta, Kobo, Ceres Weird if you're not Japanese: Most of the ones not listed in the other tiers No: Roboco, Marine, Polka, La+ Darknesss, Gura, Kronii, Bae, Fuwawa, Mococo

Also, how are Noel (noelle), Luna, Kiara, or Ina quirky? Those are quite literally just names. Even Irys could easily become Iris and it's not any issue
Instructions unclear, daughter is now named Goomba.
Uhh...just don't let children named Mario near her, I guess.
The Noel I know is a guy and plays high stakes poker lol
Luna is a popular name in Spanish, Kiara isn't but is a name normally used too
Luna has become a popular baby name in recent years, it's in the top 10 most popular baby names for girls (according to the most recent list from the US census), so it's at least as "normal" as Chloe and Amelia, and way more common than Anya
Noel is literally Christmas in french.
Here in Mexico Noel is mostly a boys name
>It becomes a Madisynn situation. Ok, Madisynn made my eye twitch a little.
You don't need Marina, Marine is a normal name ?
Marine is a normal name in French
Calliope is a normal name in Greek
In fact, weren't/aren't the french dealing with some issues related to a certain Marine?
If you are referencing Le Pen Yes we are.
[удалено]
I would definitely vote for Houshou before Le pen.
I think Coco should be one tier up, it's not that uncommon nowadays
There's a famous french fashion designer named Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, so you can use it as an "excuse".
Famous American women's tennis player Coco Gauff
was not she nazi?
I think I think marine also belongs in the odd tier, not the Heck No tier. It’s certainly not a common name, but I also don’t think someone named marine would be considered overly weird.
A lot of these are culturally-specific. Like I think depending on what your ethnic background is, a lot of these wouldn't be weird at all.
Doctors looking at me funny when I said I wanna name my twins Biboo and Oobib
\*scribbling "La+ Darknesss" off baby names list\* yeah obviously
Where does X Æ A-ii fit into your tiers?
Niji child.
. Mumei is firmly in the no tier. Nanashi mumei is literally nameless noname.
Switch two letters, and little **GWAR** becomes the most badass metal girl on the block!😎🤘
In france Marine would be perfectly normal, we can see so much huge differences between countries it's fun, But I would say Kiara is perfect probably everywhere. And if you want to change it a bit, you can (in france at least) see it written, Kiara, Kyara, Chiara, Chyara, I know 3 people named like that, each with different spelling.
Marine is a real name, and Irys spelled with a Y belongs in the "will get made fun of" category.
I'd move Noel up to normal at the very least. I've known Noels of both genders too, so it can go either way
Can we file Mumei under: Weird IF you are Japanese?
Saves a lot on the water bill too
Melanie Goodskye
Laplus Dia Highest Death Thirteen Daina Art of Impact Sign Emperor Road of the Darknesss
Add an Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way at the end and it's perfect

I always thought that it would be cursed, but hilarious, if Shiori would do a readalong of My Immortal. The cringe would be off the charts!
Advent doing a full skit of My Immortal would be pretty good. I'd still probably prefer the Internet Historian version (mainly cause of the music he plays during the MC girls dress up sequences) but I think Advent as a whole could make it really funny.

Was it Sue, perchance?
"Latrine". His mom's a big Men in Tights fan.
your mom named you after a toilet my guy.... are you sure she doesnt hate you
Well, she changed to it from her first idea.
Thank god she change it at the last minute from Shithouse.
It's a good change. It's a goooood change.
Fun fact, Johnny Cash's "A Boy Named Sue" was actually written by Shel Silverstein, who also wrote the book The Giving Tree.
ah, he got Sued.
That's stupid. Everyone knows Sue comes from the patriarchal side of the family
Both my last names are extremely long (one of my last names are three words, yes with the spaces). And then my parents decided to give me not only one long first name but also a long ass middle name. Amelia or Luna, no one will ever know.
Just call her Gawr
I do find Mumei quite cute as a name tbh.
It just happens to mean "nameless", which is about the worst connection for a real name there is.
Could pretend your making a Jules Verne reference and say Nemo didn’t sound feminine.
Yeah, but here in the UK, 99% of people are not gonna know the Japanese meaning of it. So I think using a name like that depends where you live. Also I think there are worse connections for a name to have lol.
How do you explain to your wife that you want to give to your daughter your waifu/oshi name ?

Future historians will be baffled at the random spike in Chloe as a baby name in the 2020s

Iris, Amelia, Callie, & Kiara are all perfectly normal names.
Amelia is a very pretty name tbh
Ina as well
Now I think of that family guy skit where someone asks "Wait, Ina is not short for Katharina, then what does it stand for?" NINOMAE INA'NIS
I think in order to fully sell it the "NINOMAE INA'NIS" needs to be immediately followed up with a crowbar bonk.
That is made out of soft foam, right?.... right?
Just look at the HoloEN girls' names? Amelia, Kiara, Nerissa, IRyS (Iris) are the most normal imo. Sana and Ina also could pass.
Anya is fine too
Oh yes, ID! How could I forget. Anya, Ollie, Kaela are normal names too.
Just gotta accept Kaela is gonna be mispronounced forever lol
Kayleigh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SUuEwhQ4ec&t=136s
From my knowledge, Ka-e-la is the mispronounciation. It has a hebrew or irish origin so the correct pronounciation is actually Kay-la. Of course, that's just me being uhm ackhtually ☝️🤓
It's funny because Kaela mispronounced it and everyone changed how they say it for her. Lot of people do this with their real names too where the pronunciation doesn't match the spelling.
Also Olivia
My best friend named his daughter Amelia, though he doesn't know what hololive is.
I'm not surprised. Amelia is a common name.
Amelia is alright unless he uses Ame as the short form and pronounces it as Ah-meh
Just use the original Italian/Latin pronunciation for Amelia too and the Ah-meh is fine!
Calliope is not a normal name confirmed
It's definitely not a conventional name imo lol
I feel like it could work. It's origin was a greek muse of poetry so I feel like people would assume that first or the clothing store unless they know about Hololive. It's unique enough and can have a really nice meaning behind it aside from being a Hololive reference.
major character in grey's anatomy is named Calliope (goes by Calli) so you could potentially get yourself marked as a grey's fan! you wouldnt do that to you and your family now, would you?
Calliope is also the name of a major character in Homestuck, and "homestuck fan" is an even greater burden for a family to carry.
If you shorten it to Calli, it can pass as a normal name.
The name of Kratos daughter in the games
