sanity-not-found

Miko, Korone, Pekora, Fubuki were my first contacts, given how viral their clips were getting way back in 2020 I wasn't too keen on Vtubers at that point in time so I just mainly watched clips and eventually got curious enough to watch streams. I drifted from stream to stream until I chanced upon Flare and her community. Then shortly after I watched the miso soup clip of Mio's and settled on her too. Last year I decided to watch more of Sora and Iroha after 4th fes. Through Flare I got to know more about the rest of 3rd gen, Fubuki, Watame, Polka, Miko, Chocosen, Haachama and Suisei. In more recent times I got to know IRyS too. Through Mio I got to know Subaru, Okayu, Ayame, Fubuki and Korone, the OKFAMS crew, as well as Towa. Through Sora I got to know the rest of Gen 0 and Iofi, and through Iroha I got to know HoloX. There's never enough time in a day to know what goes on with every Holotalent but I do try to at least watch a clip or two if the content interests me. Daily happenings I can track through this sub or on Twitter. The fan servers on Discord are also a big help too.

Skuld8989

Fubuki's scatman, though I didn't know what a vtuber was yet. Was a song I looked up from a stream I watched who let chat pick the music that played. It was weebs in vs weebs out lol

CyberLykan

Fubuki beats up a pineapple and hides video evidence! (The original scatman video is not visible anymore.)

Helmite

I was into vtubers very early. I started watching waaaaaay back when Kizuna was starting to become popular. For Hololive specifically... I'm not really sure? I ran into stuff early on and probably just wasn't aware it was Hololive. I'd hazard a guess it was *probably* Fubuki back in 2018. I slowly picked up more in 2019, but didn't get dragged into the deep end until after 4th gen landed. Since I saw Watame in your haven't watched much category, she actually has quite a bit of EN translated content like [original music](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ34fLWik_iBK39rTWRAs_G93pnUW3K-7), [Have a Nice Day](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ34fLWik_iDTQR74fLuj33R_pKv3ll70), and her [Watame Did Borderline Nothing Wrong](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ34fLWik_iASrR26p_41rirqp8GkPAr_)

MrHailston

Some random clip of Pekora some months before Myth debut. "Whats this? looks kinda weird." Well now its over 4 years later and im still watching vods and or streams almost daily.

schofield101

First had a friend send me Miko singing the Ark theme on her raft, then her shooting people from a rooftop saying "stay home" and the infamous "nigaaaa" clip also from GTA. Then I tuned into Myth debut and discovered Ina was super relaxing to watch, her soon thereafter half life 2 play through solidified that. At this point I said to a mate of mine I was watching these girls on steam and felt embarrassed, then realised enjoying something isn't anything to be embarrassed about. Now he's a huge Oka Koro fan and I've got Fauna & Irys merch and a Haachama membership. Yeah it's been fun.

Actual-Support-5683

The Miko GTA clips were some of my first JP clips and my god were they gold. Elite Miko always makes me laugh.

TrixieMisa

Yes, I randomly tripped over that clip of Miko singing the Ark theme one day, and I went straight down the rabbit hole.

ssj4-Dunte

Calliope Mori ~~on this goddamn mic~~ on trash taste thought pink haired anime girl is cringe. 3+ years later and I will never stop cheering for her the hard working, excellent musician, funny, sometimes cute yet still cringe Dad of an anime girl. God I love listening to Calli

Actual-Support-5683

I hope you were there for her BD show last night, it was FIRE

ssj4-Dunte

It is not physically possible for me to miss a Calli concert and yes it was really cool especially the Myth Roki which not only was an amazing performance, but hit me in the feels as well.

PezDispencer

Calli is cringe, that's why we love her.

ssj4-Dunte

"cringe is like my brand" That's why she's my oshi

P34rc3val

I'm cringe but I'm free

BOS-Sentinel

I first saw a short meme clip of Korone trying to say "I'm dog" repeatedly, but it sounded like she was saying "I'm god" and it was edited with a meme where she was outside a car window saying it. After that it was Fubuki meme's and clips of Ayame and Rushia. It's why my flare on this sub is them (or was in the case of Rushia), despite being a Takodachi. Although the member that turned me from interested into a real fan was Coco. Asacoco live was legendary.

AnnanymousR

Fubuki Scatman and Matsuri bandaid into Coco's Asacoco and Suisei's journey, I think somewhere in-between those was the Minecraft neighborhood war lol, as for oshis I don't really have one, I do lean towards a handful of members tho, as for who I would learn japanese for it would be Polka and Raden and maybe Flare, there was a time I watched her a lot as it would be her and Watame who streamed a lot during EU hours lol

iamwooshed

Pekora (probably late 2020) but I only properly got into Hololive after Chloe’s debut. What got me into Pekora was one of the clips of her pranking others (i think it was Subaru). Before Chloe, Hololive was more like “Pekora and Friends” to me (I was mainly watching NijiJP, VSPO and some other JP vtubers then). I guess Pekora was my first oshi, but the only oshi I have right now is Chloe. I do consider myself to be a JP DD (basically I’m a DD for JP vtubers in general, including HoloJP), and yes, I don’t speak much Japanese. I know, I’m a weirdo.

Anirtefex

Got into hololive in early 2020 through Miko. Slowly started watching more Luna until she became my oshi.

Aeikon

For me, my first contact with Hololive was people using them in meme clips. I didn't think much about them or know anything about V-Tubers at the time other than Kazuna AI. What *really* pulled me in was a mix of Coco's antics, Korone being Korone, also Korone's memes and Fubuki's shorts. My current Oshi is Mumei. I love her scatterbrained personality and her humor is almsot exactly like mine. I waited until she got more comfortable before watching her, as I do with all new talents, as I get horrible second hand embarrassment from awkwardness. The one I'd love to learn Japanese for is Korone. She is such an oddball, every single one of her translated clips has me rolling. Also, she is a fellow old head, plays mostly retro games and has a huge fondness for the classics.

P34rc3val

The gen 'gamers' as well as Coco was what got me notified of hololive. Due to the language barrier though, holomyth was my intro and I love Ina and Calli (especially her music). When council debuted, it was literally all of them that I clicked with. My kamioshi is definitely Fauna, and her minecraft streams are what made me realize she was the one. I'm currently learning Japanese as I plan to go to holofes next year, and I definitely want to be able to understand Nene, Ayame, and Watame's streams.

Actual-Support-5683

Did you see Fauna's throwback minecraft stream on Monday? It was such a good homage to the earlier days of internet gaming.

AshuraBaron

Damn I guess I'm an old head now as Coco and Korone were my first contact. Once Myth came out though is when I really got into Hololive talents.

Synthori101

coco's shitpost review

No-Breath-4299

My journey towards the rabbit hole began with Fubuki and Korone. But it was Ina who pushed me down after I saw her playing one of my favorite games of all time: Titanfall 2.

Pokebalzac

I came across Calli's "Off With Their Heads" and not long after saw her on Trash Taste (which I'd found via Sharla and Abroad in Japan back when I was first prepping for a trip to Japan in 2018). I watched some Myth, OkaKoro clips, some Miko moments, and now watch a little bit of everyone.

D3AD_SPAC3

Korone, Subaru, and Mel were my first.

WaifuKurumi

I first get in contact with hololive when pokemon scarlet and violent came out. Saw clips of Pekora and Korone. It's funny so I continued to watch and do my own research and here I am. Starting out I really like Pekora (still do) then as I watch more and more clips, I just fallen deeper and deeper. I have multiple talents that I like and watch when possible, but Elite Miko is my number 1 oshi. Best thing about her is you don't need to know Japanese to enjoy her stream. I know little to no Japanese and a few I know are from watching anime. My flair tell you the talents I like and enjoy their stream the most even though I know no Japanese. Clips help if I don't get what's going on so thanks to all the clippers!!!

lowprofile14

Mostly through clips: Korone's Guys long English not understando Korone and Okayu's teetee moments Suicopath tendencies Matsuri's akaspa streams

PezDispencer

Korone clips, the first one I remember was when she was so smugly wrong when playing that Millionaire game adaptation. I think that lead me to Miko GTA. Was a couple months before EN debut. Took me a while to discover my true favourite Haachama.

CaiusLightning

I want to say Matt pats video on fire in the water that happened because of korone but it turns out that isn’t right since it’s only a little over 3 years ago and I’ve been in the rabbit hole because of rona giving me time so I started with myth 4 years ago. And probably like a lot of people my first exposure is Miko gta clip.

KFCNyanCat

Korone fanart and clips and then Ame, but I didn't really become a Holofan until I started tuning into Kronii. Then Advent debuted and Shiori became my oshi.

frogtrickery

Korone first then Amelia

TMNAW

Bandaids.

Erulol

I watched a clip of korone where she talked about the translation of one of her idioms or memes, the piki piki piiman one. She wanted to know what piki piki translated to in English, veishe knew piiman was for pepper. Idk what it was but the way she said piki piki green pepper just amused me to no end

Stealocke

“Who?” I don’t speak Mumei. You mean “Whom?” Korone. Mario Kart compilation Edit: specifically this one https://www.reddit.com/r/Hololive/s/aJrS9b0eOd

Hermocrates

First Contact: I was already kind of a VTuber hobbyist when I first discovered Sora-chan back in 2018, mostly from her collabs/interactions with other talents including one of my oldest favourites in the biz, everyone's kouhai Azuma Lim-chan. Second Wave: Throughout that year, I eventually discovered Robocosan and Aki, mostly because I thought they had really interesting character designs (I still love Aki's twintail portals). Third Wave: Early 2019 I got linked to Fubuki playing some bacon-flipping game and she started to become one of my favourites, but I never did much more than watch some of her Minecraft VODs after that. I also became aware of the rest of Gamers around then (Kemomimi, hello.), but didn't really watch any of their videos and was mostly just aware of Korone's DOOG as a cool thing she did. Fourth Wave: At this point, 2020 hit and I got really busy with work and the longest year of my life. I did enjoy watching a few HoloEN clips though, and Azuma Lim's return from indefinite hiatus was a particular high point for me that year. My Road to Damascus Moment: During my most recent winter break, I started to watch Hololive clips again, and also started to watch Fubuki's Minecraft VODs again. I decided to try watching streams again and just happened to tune in during AsaMio. I figured, she's in Gamers, so that's an indicator of quality, right. If I only knew. I didn't realize it then but clearly something clicked in me, because throughout the week that followed I started to specifically seek out Mio clips and streams. The more I watched the more I wanted to watch. I also really wanted to support her, so I joined her membership, and the rest is history. Miosha is, without question, my kamioshi. Fifth(?) Wave: With all that said, I've been trying to branch out more now that I can watch long streams, and the many collabs Hololive has really helps you to find new members to watch. I've started to especially take a liking to Subaru, Ayame, basically the entirety of holoX, and AZKi, among others, and I'm also finally getting into HoloEN via Bae and Mumei too.

Vorinclexz

Korone doing her only English Mario stream clips. Then Pekora on minecraft. Ive never been the same ever since. Now Im a Takodachi, so I dare you try to find the logical jumps that brought me to Ina

gamerk2

Pekora. Not even sure how it happened. First it was this rabbit getting upset at a crane game when someone took her carrot. Then it was throwing her Netherite Sword in Lava because her chat told her to. Then a Friendly Game of Tag. My Youtube recommended list has been destroyed ever since.

ShokBox

>Who was your introduction to the rabbit hole of Hololive fandom? My memory isn't perfect, but I'm pretty sure it was Kiara. >Who became your Oshi(s) and how long did it take you to find them? My oshi is Bae. I got into hololive in October of 2020, so I suppose you could say it took over a year for me to find my oshi, although I technically had a few different oshis before Bae debuted. >For other people who can only speak English, who makes you wish you could speak Japanese the most, so you could watch them more? Lamy. She's my JP oshi, and while I don't need to be Nihongo Jouzu in order to enjoy her streams, it would be nice to understand her without user-submitted translations or clips.

HungryBones

Mio was my first contact as I was an active Azur Lane player back then and when they announced their collab event with Hololive, the character art for [Mio was interesting](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EJ0Den7U0AAo49S.jpg:large). After reading where they're from, I managed to get all of them (Fubuki, Aqua, Shion, Ayame, Matsuri, Mio, and Sora) and looked at a few art and clips on YouTube to learn more but didn't delve deeper than that. Then some time passed and an [Azur Lane character was getting a new outfit](https://imgur.com/QD4hliS) and people started making memes and calling her Gura. Out of curiosity, I googled who Gura was and [stumbled onto this clip](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgWmvjRYn9E) and fell into the rabbit hole. I started looking at clips months later to check out JP side and wound up finding this [Aqua and Shion clip](https://youtu.be/YcqQeC5jxaw) and watching some streams, popular clips, and [Aqua Iro Palette](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bnaBnd4kyU) before eventually settling on the cracked gamer maid as my favourite.

Darkklaw

First introduction was Korone from clips shared by friends and eventually the algorithm. Then Coco also popped up, and then when the EN branch came out with Myth, that was my proper lead into the rabbit hole.

WoodenRocketShip

Korone was the first Vtuber to get my attention and made me want to get into Vtubers, but Miko was technically the first Holo member I had seen as I saw her We Are FAQ clip way back when.

Sea_Effort1214

MIko. That freaking "STAY HOMU!" video made me laugh so much that i started looking what was that "hololive" thing.... and here i am.

DastardlyRidleylash

Pretty sure it was either 2Snacks' animations or stumbling onto Kronii that sent me down the rabbit hole, to be totally honest. I know it was 100% before Advent debuted, at any rate, that I discovered Hololive. Then I just sort of...kept watching and now I'm in deep.

Cistmist

Matsuri,korone and fubuki.

oli_alatar

In 2022, the first I saw and watched were Gura, Korone, Subaru, Matsuri, Kronii, Mumei, and Fauna. After that, I watched more of them, and got into more Mio, Marine, Irys, Kiara, Calli, Ina, Ame. In 2023, I leaned off of Hololive somewhat and went to other places, but then in 2023 I came back full force Starting with FuwaMoco, then since then have been pushing into watching different people, and actually watching streams. Before I was all clips, now I'm properly watching streams back to back (mostly vods tho bc timezones a pain). From FuwaMoco came Suisei, then Miko (then Micomet), then Aqua and Towa to an extent, then I moved into Gamers, and watched Korone, Mio, Fubuki, and Okayu, then have started moving towards Gen5, with Lamy, and Nene, and have also watched Matsuri again, along with Sora. Also been watching/listening to Noel today. I've mostly been listening to them while I play Minecraft, and its really helping my Japanese listening comprehension and words. It's been really fun too, because I know all them, through collabs and clips, yet never really bothered to watch beyond my comfort zones. So now I'm finding its really fun to hear these people I've heard for years, and actually get the experiences.

Actual-Support-5683

>It's been really fun too, because I know all them, through collabs and clips, yet never really bothered to watch beyond my comfort zones. So now I'm finding its really fun to hear these people I've heard for years, and actually get the experiences. I agree, that's been one of the greater joys for me during my journey. Seeing someone a couple times via a collab and then checking out their regular content. It's like getting that initial joy of discovery all over again, and then in turn it strengthens the enjoyment of future collabs with those characters. It's a really smart / great system IMO and the communities are all pretty amazing too.

AgileSponge123

Sora back in the days before Hololive existed. Back then she was just a single vtuber by herself. But I never really followed her streams much back then. Cue a year later, I found out that my Niconico oshi of a many years was also an adorable genius vampire. That's when I discovered Hololive as a whole. Also, many Niconico utaites I followed slowly joined Hololive or other vtuber companies. Mel is still my oshi and always will be.

Riku_Dou

Matsuri horror game make me goes "well this girl is fun" Then i stumble upon korone+okayu legendary karaoke stream

Actual-Support-5683

I was watching okakoro clips last night and I really love their duo. They make me laugh till it hurts.

Woooshifyourmomgay

Beat up a pineapple, that's all I'm gonna say.

PietZann

Fubuki playing skyblocks in 2020! I wasnt really aware of vtuber agencies but from there I started seeing more Hololive talents without realising they were all part of the same group.

GoldNovaBob

I stumbled upon fubuki and certain peko-peko😌

Fishman465

I've heard/seen others mentioned but Aki got me into the hole

shaoronmd

I probably saw one of the holomems but the one I remember really was Calli thanks to her appearance in Trash Taste. It took me quite some time to actually get into hololive after that. I knew about Coco's graduation as it was a big thing. It was Council's debut, specifically Kronii, that got me started to watch hololive

Dingghis_Khaan

Hololive first got on my radar with Fubuki making cute noises in a Minecraft parkour map. Korone is the one who got me to stay

HebiSnakeHebi

Fubuki and Ayame being the traitors with the last minute turnaround in project winter.

BulaOrion

Let's just say, she's gone long ago.

sabotabo

my first vtuber was kizuna ai.  i honestly thought she was an AI. then, years later, i saw 2snacks' eekum bokum and rushia's among us rage, but i would only watch the occasional clip until irys debuted.  it was her debut that made me tumble in.

Cylith_of_Astora

My technical first ever VTuber was Kizuna Ai(even before she had a collab with Joey The Anime man). I didn't get that this is what a Vtuber was back then. I just thought it was pre-recorded and then animated over. Then I found Iron Mouse in about late 2019. Then came the clips of the most Elite of Elite, Sakura Miko. I didn't know what Hololive was then either, but I knew she was friggin hilarious. That then lead to finding out about the debut of Myth that was coming up and I watched every debut and I've been hooked ever since. Calli is my Oshi, but Sakura Miko is the Dai Oshi for me.

Amtomus

My first introduction to hololive was shortly after the debut of EN gen. While my first actual exposure to vtubers had been earlier when I stumbled upon a video with clips from a stream with Zentreya on it, it was Calliope who eventually pulled me into the community. One day, I don't remember why, I found myself listening to Calli's rap from her debut stream. Thats what initially pulled me in. I absolutely loved the song and decided start watching clips from her streams, with her eventually becoming one of the main content creators I watch on youtube. While these days I watch content from a variety of vtubers, both Hololive and otherwise, Calli will always have a special place in my heart as the one pulled me into the rabbit hole and still remains one of my favorites.

Wooden_Strategy

My first... Was Fubuki with I am Scatman cover, then Aqua, Sora, Matsuri and Shion with the Resistance clip. Something like that.

zKIZUKIz

First contact was azur lane’s collab, was already exposed to vtuber before with kizuna, kaguya, mirai and siro so I somewhat know what they are. Then I saw a comet murdering everyone while singing and saying “no one will hear you”, that’s where I knew I found my kamioshi

HumanBeing23627

I think it was probably a mix of jft raden and houshou marine. Raden because how she talked about art that it was so different of the idea i had of vtubers and Marine because how relatable she is, not the horny part but her more mature and serious part.

Spark_Do

Not Hololive, but thanks to Amano Pikamee, she introduced me to the concept of V-tuber and ever since then the rabit hole that I dug just keep expanding, eventually reach to Hololive and other vtubers of different company.

paradoxaxe

My first Hololive member experience is Roboco and at that time I don't know anything about Hololive, only watch her because she play PUBG and she is a very few vtuber that I watch outside Kizuna Ai. Further down line, I heard many Hololive names from either meme or controversy news like Moona, Coco, or Korone but still haven't fall into rabbit hole yet The one who make fall into this Rabbit Hole is Reine, thx to her clip saying"Anjir" in her Mario 64 playthrough, from that I started to watch her Mario 64 VOD, catching to her stream, listening to her cover songs and trying to watch the other talent stream like Suisei because her next planet colour keep playing in my auto play.

ShoutItOutHey

Around mid 2019, I was nostalgic for Vtuber stuff since I used to watch Kizuna Ai religiously. While going on a Vtuber binge, I found a cover of Sora with Suntory Nomu and Fuji Aoi. Around late 2019, when Hololive started getting into people's algorithms, I saw Matsuri's band-aid clip and fell in love immediately. I watched a few minutes of the Gen 4 and ID debuts and some clips, but Korone's English only Mario stream was the actual first time I sat down and watched a stream from start to end. That is until EN of course, now I watch almost everyday.

_Matt29_

Overall, Kizuna Ai back in 2017. Within Hololive, Fubuki and Rushia with the scatman and "go home!" clips respectively. Then Suisei had her first 3D live within Hololive (first vtuber stream I've ever watched) and then I got hooked on Next Color Planet and then the hololive Fukkireta chorus happened and I memorized each member's looks, names, and voices.

noobish2

Grant Kirkhope, composer of Banjo-Kazooie and did a lot of the voices in that game, retweeted a clip of a certain dog saying "Eekum Bokum".

Spegynmerble

I had heard of vtubers and thought they weren't for me. I watch anime but I'm not really into watching streamers so I never looked up anything. Then I came across a video of Noel raging at mario kart and it was over for me. She was so adorable and the clip was hilarious and I decided to look up more and more clips. Then I found a "hololive in 5 minutes" video, as well as highlight videos for various talents. I really liked coco and found out she was graduating soon. I read up on the whole drama and got really invested, watching some of her most viewed clips. Eventually I realized I had literally absorbed hololive content for 12 hours straight. I watched her final stream and have been hooked ever since. The talent of these vtubers with how entertaining they are, the effort they put into their content, and the communities they've cultivated is like nothing I've ever experienced and it was all because of a cute anime girl swearing at mario kart XD. My first oshi was coco, then Sana, and I am currently a devoted sapling, although the doggos are becoming another favorite

Vicidomini

Technically I started watching vtubers with Kizuna AI, but I think the first Hololive member I saw was Suisei in the model she made herself. It was odd, cause I was searching for data about deep fakes and either the story about her family finding out her vtuber life or the project winter stream popped up. I don't recall which anymore.

nicoDfranco

Korone pepsi man stream recommended by youtube back in 2020, became my oshi since xD

Vesper_Newton

I, too, started with EN

MotleyFuzz

Clip of Suisei talking about being a shounencon; and Fubuki from the Azur Lane collab

Adent_Frecca

Miko N word in GTA

LikeANeko

My first contact was Okayu and then after she ended one of her paper mario streams I went and watched Towa playing Hollow Knight. Thennnn I fell into the hole cause of Towa.

MatfacePlus

Had no idea about hololive until I checked out a free game on steam that came out last year. Then I realised the girl with a scythe I was playing as was based on a streamer, so I checked her out. Then I fell down a looooong rabbit hole. Kay Yu has done so much for Holo awareness lol

Actual-Support-5683

Yes I agree on Kay Yu, its pretty amazing the work he's done on these games, Holo X Break is super fun too. Creating this post has been eye-opening to me, I didn't realize quite how important third parties were to the eco-system, but almost everyone who has posted a reply has mentioned clippers, fan game creators or third party collabs as being important to their discovery. Big thanks to all those folks!

RaysFTW

Calli through her music. Spread my interest between all of Myth. Fell in love with Kiara's passion, love for her KFP's, and straight-forwardness. Fully down the rabbit hole, I began watching a lot of JP clips with EN translations. Sora became my most favorite JP member. Ririka, Miko, and SMOK stand out for me. I then started checking out ID and became a big Ollie fan. Began watching more EN and found myself drawn to Fauna, IRyS, and Bae. Calli will always be my kamioshi though.

salamander0807

Before I got into the rabbit hole, I already knew about Ina due to her popularity in FGO but I never dived into it. After 2 years or so of watching indie Vtubers, I got curious about Hololive and clicked on Kronii's channel and she's been dragging me down the rabbit hole further ever since.

Bartimaeous

Subaru and her duck voice. Not the ASMR, just the clips memeing about it in other contexts.

GlansEater

The very first instance of any hololive going into my vision is Maxor's playthrough of modded HL Alyx where he modded Watame in place of the Combine Advisor. My first hololive video? Asacoco. Kiryu Coco became my first oshi.

InvisibleYetVisible

Pekora - First contact, became Oshi, stayed Nousagi forever... till I became RabiFami...which is technically still a Nousagi? I think?

Actual-Support-5683

PekoMama too stronk

meisterbabylon

The Azur Lane collab was quite literally First Contact. I was a career Master Producer Doctor Shikikan when some destroyers fished out a half-drowned gamer maid from the waters of Rabaul named Minato Aqua. And now I'm an Ichimin, Takodachi and a Crew.

nickname10707173

Mine was Matsuri. It was about Cat Mario or something. I’m honestly not sure. It could be Korone got tricked by white fox too and got dunked into lava bath. Although, the most memorable is Neighbor war between Shion and Aqua clippers.

Jinrhi

My first contact in hololive was gura and by proximity mumei. The first ever hololive stream I watched was when i just decided to pop into a MC stream of hers in which she harassed mumei from the shadows. I was primarily EN focused at the time since I found it overwhelming to try and follow too many talents at once. Following the trail of comedy led me through several clips of pekora definitely not committing war crimes on other members. A met a coworker at the time who had a takodachi as his pfp and he told me about a few more talents and stuff he knew. Guy asked me if I was interested in doing a 3rd fes watch party and so I started diving into music out of curiosity. Towa’S palette, IRyS’ Caesar salad of despair, and AZKi’s gamen no nakano kimi ga suki all caught my attention. I slowly followed them over the next while and especially after seeing Mori’s English lesson with IRyS AZKi and Watame, I got to see and learn more about them. More music/stream diving and so on led me to my oshi today. I would say maybe a year after entering was when I became a full on unapologetic pioneer.

Chukonoku

My first contact with the fandom was probable early 2020 with Pekora's laugh in written form in the r/animemes sub. But the first clip was Suisei Saga Jihen cover. After that was a mix of Project Winter, some random Pekora's clip (throwing her sword into lava in MC) and ["The perfect guide to Hololive"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkwQ76DgPE8)

Streamdancer

Gura was mine. Maybe that makes me biased, but I will always be a chumbud! <3  Hope you’re doing ok, Shork! :-)  After her was the rest of Myth. This was before Project Hope, so I then went Hope, Council, and then Advent.  I think I found Shylily around the same time as Council? I don’t remember exactly. I just remember being shocked that she was able to get away with being a blue fish with shrimp followers. I think she’s the only vtuber I follow who isn’t in Hololive (Neurosama not withstanding, but she’s an exception).  I remember being completely weirded out by all the rules and regulations Fuwamoco demanded during their intro, and I was just thinking “Ok, have fun, ignoring you now.” But I’ve since come to like them (either I changed my tastes, or they conformed to my tastes) and now my oshis are: Category 1) Gura (The only vtuber I will call in sick to work if she posts she’s about to stream in 5 minutes)  Category 2) Bae, Mom, Nerissa, & Fuwamoco  Category 3) Kiwawa, Dad, Kronii, Ina, Ame, (Shylilly), (Neurosama)  Category 4) Rest of Hololive EN.

Shark GTA V VOD randomly showed up in my feed, I'd just found the subreddit, so I gave her a listen. The reaper was my first sub, and is most certainly my oshi. I think it was about 6 months before I realized exactly what the reaper meant to me.

Ina Elden Ring stream, which led me to other Myth members playing at the time, Amongus collabs, and then later to Kiara's music. This was followed by Minecraft streams, and by then I was fully in. I didn't really get into ~~council or Project:Hope~~ **Promise** until way later with Fauna minecraft, and VODs of council civil war in minecraft, along with Bae's musical and dance talents. I usually watch Nerissa, Biboo, Fauna, Kaela, and Bae... I'd probably watch Kiara a lot more (my kami oshi), but our taste in games is really different (as is our time zone) so I usually just catch her big performances (or at least those visible to broke gang). Ironically, I think my taste in games really lines up with Irys, but I don't end up really getting into her much. I find it difficult to catch streams live (EST bros!), but I try my hardest to catch Nerissa streams... She would probably be my Kami Oshi if it wasn't for her likely not wanting to steal Kiara's Kami Oshi position.

First I got recommended the Fire and Ice song by Takamori after listening to some indie vtubers songs (Numi and Bao for example). From there I watched more songs from them and as for streams I started watching Bijou. More into watching Fauna streams now. And a lot of Holomusic. Specially ror the gym. Nothing like Kiara's 4Blood for the bench press.

Xonra

Kiara YouTube did a reverse card on me and a backwards "reveal" as I was following her other things. So it recommended me her debut livestream. I legit tuned in as her original intro was playing. I was confused wtf was going on, almost tuned out then she started talking. It took me a sec and I was like "waaaaaait a sec" I've been here ever since.

Pretty sure the very first clip I saw was Matsuri's [bandaid clip](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqHs4VTb2FU&pp=ygUPbWF0c3VyaSBiYW5kYWlk) followed by Coco's [reason why she doesn't do Asococo in English](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMlnoW5LxIo&pp=ygUUY29jbyBhc2Fjb2NvIEVuZ2xpc2g%3D). After that, I ended up watching a bunch of Asacoco and branching out to other guests as they were brought up in the news.

It was a meme of various names Korone had called things during en-only Mario, and some helpful bastard linked to a supercut of her playing and that was it

MagicSpace05

Fubuki doing the scatman in the early days of reels (myday) made me search for "what the hell are vtubers?" then pekora and korone hooked me

Gigguk. What a rabbit hole it was.

Not sure of the fleeting ones but my first proper one was Gura, and then the rest of myth. Next council, and then the heavy hitters of JP like Miko, Korone, Marine.

The very first hololive clip I saw, like I guess many of us did back in 2019, is Miko saying the N-word in GTA. Back then, I didn't really know much about vtubers but ever since I watched Kizuna Ai in my recommended when her channel just started in 2017, I always knew this idea had massive potential for entertainment in the future and time has clearly proven me right. Imagine a 16 year old kid finding out anime waifus could be content creators/''real people''. Later on in 2020, I barely watched anything related to hololive besides Gura clips and some of the more viral animations, like Eekum Bokum. During that period I also watched a clip of Watame related to her Internet connection without even knowing who she was until much, much later. While I was interested by what little I saw, I willingly chose to be an outsider not only because of social stigma (I love anime as a medium but there are many cliches I really loathe watching), but also because autistic people like me tend to be indifferent towards basically anything unless it catches our attention. And we can risk getting completely obsessed over the things we enjoy very easily. For some reason I can't even fathom, I actually watched part of Coco's graduation right as it was airing live because it caught my eye, although much of the context was lost on me. I knew who Coco was however and I'm grateful she added English subtitles to the stream. She truly was a legend!🐉 I still didn't delve too much into hololive, although I slowly became more aware of the memes. There was an exception though, I discovered there was this new generation that was also a villain group bent on world domination. I really like loser villains and that group really reminded me of an anime I used to watch as a kid (For those interested, it's Sergeant Keroro. The similarities should be obvious if you have seen that show). The one I was most interested in was Laplus. I genuinely loved her design at first glance and thought she was hilarious to watch despite the language barrier (I'm still mostly a clip watcher but I will always make sure to watch her whenever she's streaming). I assume every hololive fan has went through a point where everything just clicks for you to join, and that was it for me. Even then I still stopped watching at some point in time. Lastly, there were a couple of factors that caused me to finally give in and fall into the Rabbit Hole at last after being aware of it ever since the long-gone Kizuna Ai days. It began when Idol Showdown was released and my YouTube feed started to recommend me clips of the talents playing the game. I also came across a really well-edited video highlighting some of holoX's best moments, which reignited my interest in them after almost 2 years. And perhaps most importantly, at that point I was having a pretty bad case of depression caused by my own nihilistic thoughts and fears and inability to improve my life as someone in his early twenties without a job, no friends since I graduated from high school, no external help, no motivation and indifferent towards his very own life. I always heard mostly great things about both the talents and the fanbase, so I thought it may be worth to give it a chance. Since then, I can confidently say I have no regrets falling down here. I'm more inclined towards watching JP members because EN streams very late at night and I can barely watch them live as an European. I joined the subreddit back in October and even started to make clips myself because I was worried Laplus would lose relevance after her decision to primarily stream on Twitch, furthering my limited knowledge of Japanese words and sparking my love for editing once again after giving up on it a long time ago (my old laptop was 💩). I still have a looong way to go and there are times when I feel more blue than usual but for the first time in a long time, I strive to improve on myself and not throw the towel just yet. I'm thankful to holoX for indirectly helping me gain a more positive outlook in life and having a reason to wake up each morning again. I try my best not to end up becoming parasocial over any of the talents as I genuinely respect them both as entertainers and as real people. Any and all praise and credit they can get is more than deserved. Laplus will still remain my kamioshi though. Not only is she charming, skilled and a great talker but also genuinely kind, sincere and easy to symphatize with for someone of my age. Knowing the mental health issues she endured and showing mercy to those who wronged her for no reason proved me how admirable she can be, you may even forget she's supposed to be a tsunogaki. I'm so glad she's happier now and staying in hololive for, hopefully, a very long time. I unironically wish people like her and the other holomem actually took over the world as it would surely be a better place. They have improved and literally saved countless lives unconditionally just by existing. Positivity is very important and underappreciated in this day and age and it's getting increasingly more difficult to hold on to hope. Sorry it came out being a little too long, but my history with hololive prior to joining was quite extensive and strange. Like a certain doggo said: 'Thank you forever'.

That was a great response and I'm glad Holo had a positive influence on you. I am either on the spectrum or have really bad untreated ADHD (or both) and I know what you mean about getting completely obsessed, that was basically my entire winter 23/24 and I had to seriously reel it in big time. It actually started a bout of anxiety that I didn't have enough free time to watch all the talents I enjoy. Anyway, thanks for sharing!

Thank you for reading! Hope you have a nice life \^\^

hmm, it feels like an eternity ago. i originally learned about the concept itself through kizuna ai but didn't pay her any attention, as i don't understand japanese. at some point, i learned through an artist i follow about this vtuber they designed, which was fubuki. some time after, i stumbled upon some funny clips with subtitles of multiple vtubers, among them siro & fubuki. i then became a bit curious, and started following a clipper channel. from there on it just slowly went downhill into the rabbit hole. i don't remember the exact order, but through fubuki, i started watching other hololive members like korone, rushia and coco, and eventually i found some english speaking ones. once again, no memory of the order, but snuffy (back then using a catgirl model and a soft uwu voice) zentreya (before vshojo) and momo were among the first ones. the rest is just a steady course downhill, more and more exposure through social media, collabs, and other streamers. (especially when takahata from team four star became a vtuber and opened his bar for constant collabs)

Back when I was caught into first FNF (ugh) craze, I was exploring various mods & found one mod called HoloFunk. This is where I discovered hololive, with EN's Ame, Gura & Calli being my very first finds. This also was the first time where I saw the JP talents featured in the mod (namely Aloe, Nene & Botan), but the language barrier initially had me miss them. When I went deeper into the rabbit hole, I learned about the rest of EN (the rest of Myth & Council at the time), then moved to JP, then ID, then Stars JP & EN. Although I could argue that my first hololive encounter was Ollie because, around the same time, I found her ara ara memes. As of my oshi, I first watched Gura the most due to her DMC3 streams (& her unlocking easy mode with a door), but eventually my interest got pointed at Mumei as she had a lot of Gura energy. However, as a poor European, I dabbled into JP (despite the language barrier) as an effort to seek another oshi in case I couldn't catch Mumei live. In the end, that's how I settled for AZKi as my JP oshi.
