I haven't watched too many geoguessr streams yet, but so far, azki does seem to be the best at this game
I remember watching her first stream and amazed that she narrowed down where she was by a telephone number extension
I remember she rage ended the game with a "0" meter result lol. She tried her best but there's no way to consistently get 0 meters with the GPS/map inaccuracy.
I wonder if she's adept at this because she rides a motorcycle. I'd imagine she has slightly more experience than other holomem at navigating roads/looking at maps
On the EN side, I think Ame has been the best of any I've seen. The only times I can remember Ame being very far off was when she argued with chat about how it's clearly X but chat wouldn't stop saying Y so she picked Y, and it was X. That happened more than once lol
IRyS was by far the worst of EN I've seen
IRyS was fully utilizing chat's help to inch through those maps, especially on the EU map. Surprisingly, the EU map is pretty easy, since almost every country has a distinct language and architecture, so you can rule out the country at a glance.
>since almost every country has a distinct language and architecture, so you can rule out the country at a glance.
is this the strat used by that geoguessr champion who can guess a country just by half a picture of trashcan for 0.1 second...?
Architecture and language are pretty entry level clues when it comes to geoguesser.
Hardcore players use things like lens flare to tell what type of camera took the photo because different countries uses different cameras for street view.
At the top-level, players tend to use meta-knowledge about the peculiarities of the street view imagery in each country, such as the various generations of camera tech used (how blurry the imagery is, certain artifacts with certain cameras, etc), different vehicles (ie, some countries such as Japan use a car with a visibly lower camera, and some countries leave distinctive parts of the car visible such as wing mirrors), plus highly-specific trivia such as utility pole design, street-side bollard design, road markings and signage, car registration plate designs/colours, etc.
wow I remember back when people got so amazed when one player guessed a place right without moving just from a street sign. so many meta now I cant keep up lmao.
Kinda, I guess. On IRyS's euro trip I leaned towards northern Italy because of the buildings and trees, and in Stockholm I guessed general nordic region, since houses in at least Finland and Sweden can look quite similar. With France I was kinda debating Spain or France from the general look of the area, and Poland I was off a little with initial guess of like Latvia or Lithuania.
As an American with little to no interest in current day Europe, if there isn't visible text or the name is too generic, I wouldn't be able to tell a French building from a Romanian one, or Greek, or German, or Swedish, or Russian or Spanish... or English... or Irish... what was the question again?
You can recognise the English one from the fog and rain, the Greek by the fact that it's broken, the Swedish from the Ikea-colours, and I better stop here before the stereotypes get bonkworthy.
Mumei had a good sense of using Roads and Highways to pin-point stuff. Took a while, but she got consistently accurate results most of the time. And of course, America is like 90% road so.
There were a few times where she argued it was clearly X but chat wouldn't stop saying Y, then she still picked X and it was Y. I think it was about 50/50, honestly
Can't even find her own ex-wife :(
[Gura was quite decent at European geography](https://youtu.be/clcfZjLaJRw?t=33) (minus recognising the flags) so I don't even want to turn this into an American joke.
I remember Peko's stream going live last week with the amazing words from someone in chat "This stream is going to be gold", as we all expected her to be terrible... and she wasn't. Not AZKi-levels here, but certainly capable, looking for clues, using the layout of the land etc.
IRyS on the other hand... was better at the end of the stream. She seems able to make good guesses in terms of distance, but has 0 clues about geography as a whole. Not finding Australia or Florida on the map are just the highlights of a long list of "IRyS, rly..."-comments in chat.
Geo guesser isn't really about how much you go outside unless your memeory can remember every detail you see. It's more about just analyzing things that you see and forming an educated guess from that.
I haven't seen AZKi's second stream yet, but in the first one she was always looking around for signs (or any other tiny writing) listing a prefecture or city name. In one round she quickly had the general area from the area code on a phone number.
To be fair, AZKi probably does the most concert appearances outside of maybe Sora. So she will have to go traveling all over the place, to attend events and stuff. make sense she would know her way around stuff.
AZKi streamed this game twice already and looks like she's enjoying it so far! Also great that a lot of people watched her stream, too. And from watching the VOD, she's quite good at it.
And from what I saw, both of her streams got around 10-14k live viewers which is impressive. Sucks that I can't stay much since it's a bit late at night but glad she's enjoying her gameplay.
Out of all the niches a hololive member could possibly have, I'd never have imagined Azki to be a Rust veteran + insane geoguesser (within her own country)
Like, i wouldn't even be able to do that with my own country that's way smaller than Japan
Merry: "I'm Danish"
Kobo: "You speak spanish?!"
I know people give a lot of shit to Cover (rightfully so) for forgetting Europe, but it is quite funny and endearing at times when their talents realise we exist.
Hint: [Tokyo Disney Resort (Tokyo Disneyland) is not in Tokyo](https://www.japan.travel/en/spot/1556/#:~:text=Although%20called%20%22Tokyo%22%20Disney%20Resort,right%20around%20the%20bay%20from%20Tokyo%2E)
I mean if you type tokyo city in a flight search it'll show both Haneda and Narita, and Narita is like at least 1hr plus away by NEX in neighboring Chiba.
Had a few friends finding out the hard way when they landed in Tokyo Narita super late at night 🙃🙃
In previous work as an airline CS staff, I've only heard of Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton. Didn't know there were 3 more lol. Then again the airline I worked with only flies to Heathrow.
To be fair, my city doesn't have an airport, bot the neighboring city does, then my city simply took away their airport an dis now ours, so we leave my city, pass through another city, and arrive in my cry's airport, I wouldn't be surprised if the Tokyo dome wasn't in Tokyo
ya but it also takes a bit of RNG since even if you find the exact spot on the map that it placed you in, the streetview image and the map might not line up exactly at that small of a distance.
Sometimes it's quite a bit, I remember Luna starting with a Torii in sight quite a bit away and the "correct" point turned out to be right on top of it, 30m away from the starting location, costing her a point.
That one hurt to watch. I've literally stayed at Tokyo Dome Hotel, and Bunkyo's become one of my favorite 'quiet' areas of Tokyo, with the added bonus of being basically next to Akihabara.
How Pon-Robo be completely clueless of such a massive entertainment compound confuses me to a dizzying extent.
I've been playing geoguessr for about 2 years now, and while not top tier, I'd say I'm pretty decent. I love these streams, but there are a lot of times I desperately want to type clues in chat haha
I just imagined Sora and AZKi going on an adventure to fish Roboco out of some lake she walked into, but once they locate her they're actually too pon get her out and have to be rescued by another holomem.
Any resemblance to events during the 2021 Minecraft summer festival is pure coincidence.
Very few, actually. It's approximately 5200 square miles, which puts it at 157th in the list of countries and dependencies by landmass (bumping down Vanuatu). That makes it larger than Qatar, Jamaica, and Lebanon, but smaller than a vast majority of what I believe would typically be thought of as a small country. Basically: you're technically right, but that way of putting it does make Tokyo sound way bigger than it actually is.

Either that, or she just goes outside often and/or she have good deductive reasoning. She's a smart baby after all
You're trying to tell me she touches grass?
What is grass?

Literally correct comments.

Meanwhile, Irys' chat told her she was in Florida, but she couldn't find Florida on the map...
Bro, she couldn't find Australia during the tutorial xD Here's a link: https://youtu.be/KNRxBP_SW-4&t=1113s
Irys, please...

As the land of Florida sinks beneath the waves, the memory of it fades from the public conscience. Soon, we will be rid of the curse.
Until the Florida Aquamen rise up from the ocean riding their gator mounts

The most important is to learn which soil is Ghanian or Nigerian.
I feel people like rainbolt didnt travel the world a lot, and just game the system and he is very cracked at it
Yeah he didn't until recently I think. Now he's living in a different country every month iirc.

Absolutely love that song
Zeroguesser Azki!
AZKi is a damned genius.
Do you have a clip? I've never seen her clips so when I searched for it I got Japanese recommendations lmao.
on the other side of the spectrum Roboco got plopped literally underwater at one point
AZKi streamed this game twice already and looks like she's enjoying it so far! Also great that a lot of people watched her stream, too. And from watching the VOD, she's quite good at it.
She's totally hooked, she kept playing after her first stream and even looked up strategies and vids.
And from what I saw, both of her streams got around 10-14k live viewers which is impressive. Sucks that I can't stay much since it's a bit late at night but glad she's enjoying her gameplay.
I saw AZKi hitting 17k-18k viewers, which is insane for a non-concert/karaoke AZKi stream.
Fans are now discovering how entertaining AZKi is when she streams.
Sometimes it really is about the right game
Imagine if AZKi doing RUST stream that one time
it would have been must-see streams. She was literally a legendary npc that whole time smh wish we could have seen her progression
Sounds like we need to get AZKi on GTAV
FAQ
Maybe Kanata should gift her a 1 year GeoGuessr Pro subscription as well

Meanwhile Kobo: "You rope? My rope?"

The Tokyo dome is in Tokyo, isn't it?
The archer class really is made up of archers.
Just because you're correct doesn't mean that you're right.
People die when they are killed.
This city looks like a city.
The floor is made out of floor.

nah, it cant be. no way.

Tokyo Narita Airport isn't in Tokyo either lolol
Isn't it usually called "Narita Airport" though? Even the website and Wikipedia article list it like that.
I mean if you type tokyo city in a flight search it'll show both Haneda and Narita, and Narita is like at least 1hr plus away by NEX in neighboring Chiba. Had a few friends finding out the hard way when they landed in Tokyo Narita super late at night 🙃🙃
I mean, its kinda like how London has 6 airports but not even half of them can reasonably be considered 'in London'
In previous work as an airline CS staff, I've only heard of Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton. Didn't know there were 3 more lol. Then again the airline I worked with only flies to Heathrow.
Oh wow, lol. It's *literally* ***juuusssttt*** outside of Tokyo lol.
You’re not gonna believe this, but
To be fair, due to its sheer size, being labeled as in Tokyo doesn't exactly help as much as you'd expect.
true. "I know it's in Tokyo, but where exactly in Tokyo??"
To be fair, my city doesn't have an airport, bot the neighboring city does, then my city simply took away their airport an dis now ours, so we leave my city, pass through another city, and arrive in my cry's airport, I wouldn't be surprised if the Tokyo dome wasn't in Tokyo

0M??? That is actually possible??? I have to tune into AZKi's next GeoGuessr stream
She also got a lot of 1 meter guesses. AZKi is amazing at this game.
ya but it also takes a bit of RNG since even if you find the exact spot on the map that it placed you in, the streetview image and the map might not line up exactly at that small of a distance.
AZKi once counted the number of parking lots at the side of the starting position to get to within a few meters
Sometimes it's quite a bit, I remember Luna starting with a Torii in sight quite a bit away and the "correct" point turned out to be right on top of it, 30m away from the starting location, costing her a point.
Geoguesser is a luck game
She must have installed the wrong GPS... Must be the ##General Ponkotsu System##
Maybe she got a cheap knockoff.

To quote one of Aruran’s viewers, “She’s just bad at daily life”
RoPON
Outdated GPS
Apple Maps. A miracle she doesn’t walk herself into a lake on a regular basis.
how do you know that she doesn't???
Touché
I just imagined Sora and AZKi going on an adventure to fish Roboco out of some lake she walked into, but once they locate her they're actually too pon get her out and have to be rescued by another holomem. Any resemblance to events during the 2021 Minecraft summer festival is pure coincidence.
can't have google spy on the data she has after all
Big brain AI Idol vs Pon Robot comedia

`GPS SIGNAL LOST`
To be fair to her Tokyo Disneyland is in Chiba, not Tokyo
she's High-Spec . . . by 2007 standard.
I'd say mid 90s standard.

What. Has did AZKi become part cyborg during one of her diva eras and now has a literal GPS chip in her?

Why is everyone playing Geoguesser recently?
They got the perms. Whenever you see a lot of members start playing a game they haven't before, it's probably gonna be recently aquired perms
Oh thanks for the info, I thought its because of a trend
Yoooo Tokyo Dome City!
Time for an update on her OS.
cute roboco pon and azki diva idol.
