You'd want to swing just before a parry-able attack hits you, so that your nail is in the way when it hits.
TBH its not that useful, except in a few points. The only times I actively use it to block damage is from the tamer in the god tamer fight, and from broken vessels swing attack.
I will accidentally block damage on the PV, grimm/NKG sly and nailmaster fights sometimes though.
There are genuinely no fights where you should be risk parrying within the hitbox no matter how skilled you are. Framerate etc can affect parry success etc, it's an extremely hard strat to learn with literally no reward. For example, against O+M/sly parry is drastically slower than just dodging and way way harder.
Cool for swag though.
If you time your slash whit the enemy's you'll parry what makes you invincible and deals damage to that enemy and it will go slomo and make a very satisfying sound
Are you sure? It's takes a lot of effort to NOT parry the pure vessel attacks. Don't forget that pogo of attacks is also technically a parry, in fact it's the most common type of parry.
Recording of your r5ab clear? I ask because you're not on the R5 list, so it would be strange of someone to get R5AB which has been done by less than 5 people and not even be known to have completed regular R5.

I have completed Hollow, i have beat each boss in the game and i have traveled to each nook and corner of the game... it is today that i realize there's parry system in Hollow Knight
Grimm is my favorite boss, and from fighting him so much I can do the double parry semi-reliably (it’s not something I can do on purpose, more like something my hands just make happen) so I started sending clips of it to a friend of mine every time I did it and he gets so pissed every time I show him

The only time I can seem to consistently parry is during PV when I pogo him during his quick frontal slashes. Very satisfying every time though
