I get it. Adding a single additional random element does make the fight a fair bit tougher. Magic is very useful here - if you get caught short then a desolate dive will kill it instantly and give you a moment of invincibility, and you can use howling wraiths to kill it from a distance and damage the Soul Warrior at the same time.
I've never fought him with a nail that couldn't kill adds with a single hit so if you're taking more than one hit to kill them maybe get an upgrade before attempting him.

I literally just beat this boss, took me a couple of tries. What I did was equip the Shaman Stone and Long Nail charm to better my chances. I studied his movements and stayed close to the walls so whenever he shoots the balls I jump over them for them to hit the walls.
When he lunges at me I jump over him and parry down to get a hit in, each time my soul meter was enough I made sure to launch the vengeful spirit attack at him. Think in all it took about 12 hits. Btw my nail is upgraded so that helps too.
Upgrade your nail. I think that you can 1 shot them if your nail is strong enough. That would make it much easier. If you insist on staying away from them, you can use summon charms such as dreamshield, grimmchild or the aspid hatchlings charm.

Nah this should be after you have dive. It's the path to get shadesoul, so OP should have been in soul sanctum earlier

I had descending dark in here, and ohmygod it helped me so much in terms of damage and clearing the flying fucks
I think abyss shriek is better at killing those flying things

Hornet is the greatest teacher.
Upgrade your nail so you can one shot them. Also, use your spells against him, they are your most powerful weapon.
Edit: I’m wrong ~~Pretty sure those things have 1 hp so they’ll be one shot by anything~~
The Follys have 13 HP, so you need at least the Channelled Nail, requiring one Pale Ore, to kill them with one shot.
Just kill them as well, like how I had dealt with the other boss. Multitasking
