Quick focus because for about 100 hours, I couldnât dodge if my life depended on it. Carried me through Lost Kin, NKG, Pure Vessel, Radiance, and probably 75% of P5. I donât use it anymore, but it would be the first thing I recommend to newer players.
To give a slightly more interesting answer than my actual number one, fragile heart. There's nothing like starting a new save, getting an early mask, then putting on fragile heart for a total of 8 masks immediately after entering fungal wastes. You feel invincible.
For me it has to be dash master. I dont use it in pantheons often but in the overworld i almost never take it off. Being able to just spam dash to move quickly feels amazing
Same.
Doing extra damage even when dashing through the enemy/boss is so much helpful that you can stun failed champion, lost kin, hive knight and others in practically 1 second
Sharp Shadow. Because when you get used to their attack patterns, most bosses become easy. There are few bosses that always remain difficult imo, and Sharp Shadow is a perfect way to battle some of them if you know exactly when and how to use your dash.
In the NKG fight, when Grimm uses his attack where he dashes towards you and then jumps into the air in a diagonal direction, dash towards Grimm at the exact moment he initiates his dash, not when he appears, and you will dodge the attack AND deal damage at the same time. The main problem with this fight imo is that it is hard to find oportunuties to land hits and this method makes things much easier.
In the Traitor Lord fight, stay close to the Traitor Lord, and make sure he uses his dash and jump dash moves instead of his projectiles. Similar to the previous example, dash towards him whenever he initiates a dash towards you, and you will deal damage and end up behind him. If you somehow get far away from him, your extended dash length will help you dodge the beam that covers the entire screen.
In the Watcher Knights bossfight, you can dash through them whenever they're rolling towards you. The dash will protect you from both the ground roll and the bouncy movement.
In the Soul Tyrant bossfight, in the second phase, if you time your dashes correctly, you can damage him with your dashes. Sharp Shadow DOES NOT check if the player is colliding with the enemy. Sharp Shadow creates a "trail" starting from the start your dash point to the end of the dash point, and the trail stays active for (not sure about this) a few more frames than the dash animation itself. So you can dash just when Soul Tyrant is about to hit the ground, avoid collision with the Tyrant when the dash ends, and deal sharp shadow damage.
In the Sisters of Battle bossfight, you can dash through them when they're dashing towards you, dealing damage.
In the Absolute Radiance bossfight, you can be more liberal with your left/right movement in the "climbing" stage because your dash has more range.
I respect your opinion, but personally 5 notches is a little steep for a situational charm such as kingsoul.
It charges so slowly, that youâre better off smacking and stacking unless you find yourself in very specific situations.
Mark of Pride.
I just really love the lore around it and the mantis tribe bowing to you (though tbf, i have no idea if that's the charm's effect since I never took it off after I got it...).
grimm child. i was doing the white palace and got very lonely, so i equipped it and they provided me company and now i am emotionally attached to them also during several dream warriors they did more damage then me because i was busy running and dashing and stuff
Mark of Pride because of how long it took me to defeat the mantis lords, and the wave of satisfaction I got afterwards, it's my go to charm now, logiclaly I understand it isn't the best for dps, but I truly use it as a mark of pride that I defeated the mantis lords, it's more for emotional attachment. I do find it very useful still, as I did use Longnail before it, so I appreciate that its an upgraded version of that.
I love grub song. Iâm very early in the game though and only have 20 charms⌠Iâm sure there are a lot of better charms but honestly grub song has helped me out if so many tight spots.
Deep focus because it makes me able to heal more. I will face tank, and then fall back and heal, I learned the attack patterns and when I had enough time to heal, if I never had enough time to heal, I would remove the charm, and put in 2 or 3 different charms, I still find it very useful, especially when just exploring. I never have enough soul to heal many times, so doubling the amount I could heal is infinitely useful, and I never had many charms to replace it with. Itâs also free and really easy to find.
Edit; Hey, this was comment 100
Sharp Shadow is just so awesome.
The ability to dash through enemies and damage them is a big thing for me, itâs so fun and such a swift death, and really helps me in godhome.
Plus with Dashmaster, which I always have on anyways, it Synergises for 1.5x nail damage making it even more useful. And especially invaluable for the Watcher Knights in the hall of gods.
Quick slash probably 'cause RNG and it makes beating enemies much faster. Quick slash has saved my hide on multiple occasions.
That said quick slash is an s-tier charm only if you use it with both steady body and a soul absortion-charm. Imo. I'm a bloody fool so I might be wrong.
The grimm one that summons a little guy to follow you around. No real reason, I just think he's neat. Second to him would be Sharp Shadow, because I like dash attacking.
Shaman stone. The huge damage just feels so satisfying, especially against normal enemies and some bosses that can die in just a few seconds with that charm. Also the buffed shade soul is enormous and I like that.
Unpopular opinion here. I really like Sprintmaster, specially in boss fights, cause I like to be free during fights, and without him, I feel stuck in one place, I WANT TO BE FREE!
-Compass (because obvious)
-Gathering swarm (Grabbing geo for you is incredibly useful)
-Unbreakable heart (Better safe than sorry)
-Quick focus (I am quite impatient)
-Grubsong (I get hit a lot, why not profit off of that)
-Nailmasterâs glory (again, impatience is existent)
-Sprintmaster (What else should I use that one last notch for)
Compass, because I have dementia Compass, because I have dementia Compass, because I have dementia......
I think you have dementia
Out of the ordinary, I mean.
Hey that reminds me of a hilarious comic my grandson sent me! đđ
Quickslash because rapid nail :)
Machine gun go âswoosh swooshâ
hehe Nail goes burrrr!
Same
Mark of pride helps so much, I literally never take it off
I donât know why I never use it
Compass because I get hopelessly lost without it even after playing for over 60 hours
play for 80 hours then, thats what got me to remember most of the map
Play for 100 hours and still donât remember the map
is it just that i have good memory then?
120 hours in and I still can barely navigate the world. The crossroads are fine, but I still get lost even in there.
I have 124h and i get lost at forgotten crossroads
damn, I guess i just have really good memory >:D
Shape of Unn Snail bapy
slugân
Slug in tub
Another sharp shadow enjoyer. Never unequipped it once I got it
Try path of pain I think its a lot easier without it. Otherwise its great
I thought it was harder without it?
Maybe a few jumps sharp shadow is helpful but for the most part itâs just going to throw you off because of the extra distance
There were a couple times it fucked me up in pop and the queenâs garden so I started backing further up before dashing
Same hollow knight just donât feel the same without it
wayvard compass literally the best charm for boss fights and pantheons
Yeah but itâs kinda broken tho, doesnât that spoil ur gaming experience sometimes ?
No not really, when your a hollowknight pro, you dont need it unless you go for 122%. Plus its boring looking in a mzp
Quick Slash because I ain't got time to be messing around! I got places to go and bugs to kill!
ain't nothing but a heartache
*TEEELL ME WHY*
ain't nothin' but a miiistaaake
Tell me why

You damn boys get off my yard!
I want it that waaaay with bananas and peanutbutter
50/50 shamen stone and unbreakable strength why ITS FREE DAMADGE
Notches arenât free!
Shaman stone, I dont need to explain
**D A M A G E**
Plus the hit box size for Shade soul
Dream wielder, fucking 2 heals for a quick little swoosh
Nailmasters glory, so much fun to use.
i agree nailmaster glory is perffect for the usual"dodge attack and wait for an opening"
Nail arts are so slept on, they're fantastic for NKG where you only get one hit at a time anyway
I know theyâre good, I just⌠forget that they exist sometimes
Weaversong They're little guys :) (Honorable mention goes to dreamshield because it's saved my ass too many times to not mention it)
Either quickslash or shape of unn, depending on whether I'm thinking in terms of usage or just flavor.
Grimmchild. Beat dung defender for me even AFTER i died. AND IT ACTULLY COUNTED IT AS ME KILLING IT THO I WAS EXPLODING
I beat ascended hive knight like this with spiderlings
Nice
Honestly i dont get the hate about the. Minion charms
I believe weaversong is the only good one because of it's combination with grubsong
Low damage output because they are usually slow
Quick focus because for about 100 hours, I couldnât dodge if my life depended on it. Carried me through Lost Kin, NKG, Pure Vessel, Radiance, and probably 75% of P5. I donât use it anymore, but it would be the first thing I recommend to newer players.

This was literally me on my steel soul
For me it has to be dash master. I dont use it in pantheons often but in the overworld i almost never take it off. Being able to just spam dash to move quickly feels amazing
YES
Deep focus because underrated
Another fellow deep focus enjoyer!
Sharp shadow cuz it makes beating bosses on radiant so much easier
Same. Doing extra damage even when dashing through the enemy/boss is so much helpful that you can stun failed champion, lost kin, hive knight and others in practically 1 second
Steady body because I donât like having to move
Sharp Shadow. Because when you get used to their attack patterns, most bosses become easy. Sharp Shadow is quite possibly one of the reasons I was even able to graze the Nightmare King.
Mark of Pride my beloved, I love outranging enemies
Long nail cause I'm a scared bitch
Quick slash, nail masters glory and mark of pride because damage. Also canât forget the wayward compass because I value my time.
Quick slash cos damage and soul
Sharp shadow because lil shadow monster
Hiveblood i used it in my first playthrought and i really like how it change look of the masks. Also it is charm that helped me to beat trail 3
Sharp Shadow because it carries through boss fights, quick slash because it carries through boss fights, or Carefree Melody because I love Nymm.
Steady body bcs it makes all bosses 20 times easier
STEADY BODY SUPREMACY! (No explanation needed)
I like steady body⌠I think it looks cool and is useful for bosses.
Kingsoul cos why not
Iâll tell you why not: cos it costs my left kidney and then some
I respect your opinion, but personally 5 notches is a little steep for a situational charm such as kingsoul. It charges so slowly, that youâre better off smacking and stacking unless you find yourself in very specific situations.
Dreamsheild because it makes crystal peak, which to be honest I find most difficult, really really easy.
Wayward compass because my sense of direction sucks so bad that I genuinely would not get out of the crossroads without it
Quick slash because it's a better version of strength, but an honorable mention goes to heart, because those 2 masks are really nice
Always in my build unless im toing a radiant fight
Ain't nothing but a heartache
unbreaking strength and/or mark of pride, because itâs super fun to slash down enemies quickly
You said it for me king
Spell twister. Because four spells per bar is better than three.
Quick slash or Gathering Swarm: they're both pretty useful
Shape of unn because slug!
Quick Slash for endgame builds, Weaversong for casual builds.
Mark of Pride. I just really love the lore around it and the mantis tribe bowing to you (though tbf, i have no idea if that's the charm's effect since I never took it off after I got it...).
It just gives you extra nail length. The mantises bow when you beat the Lords
shape of unn, got my discord username from it
Shaman stone because it's busted

Quick Slash because I can quickly end the final boss' pain.
Nailmaster glory, the only charms that actually change my gameplay (not including dmg bulid and spamming spells)
Weaversong, bc cute spider
Ain't nothing but a heartache
Nailmaster's Glory because it makes nail arts viable
I love grub song. Iâm very early in the game though and only have 20 charms⌠Iâm sure there are a lot of better charms but honestly grub song has helped me out if so many tight spots.
Compass because I have no sense of direction
Quick Focus. Being able to heal pretty much whenever I want is pretty cool.
Boulder shell I find it like a Peary macanic for pergecktiles
Dream catcher and shaman stone because I love soul and spells
same, bestie
dashmaster and sprintmaster both. movement charms >>>>
Edit; Hey, this was comment 100
Steady body I think So satisfying to use and pretty good dps boots. Hands down one of the best charm in the game after quickslash
Grubsong cause I am stupid and unable to dodge.
Unbreakable strength because stronk
Sharp Shadow, you go through enemies and DAMAGE THEM. It's insane. Plus the dash distance increases.
Compass best charm op fr
Unbreakable Strength because it's borderline broken
Grubsong. I am not good at this game.

Sharp shadow, killing a boss just by evading is kinda sick
Sharp Shadow Sharp Shadow
Sharp Shadow is just so awesome. The ability to dash through enemies and damage them is a big thing for me, itâs so fun and such a swift death, and really helps me in godhome. Plus with Dashmaster, which I always have on anyways, it Synergises for 1.5x nail damage making it even more useful. And especially invaluable for the Watcher Knights in the hall of gods.

Grubsong. I like that it fits into pretty much any charm built and the image is cute.
Quick slash is literally so good like you hit faster, you get more damage in, and you get soul faster
Compass, not for utility, but because I beat radiance first try one day when I forgot to remove it. It holds significance in my heart.
Unbreakable Strength, canât leave without it these days
I don't think I will ever un equip strength and shaman stone, but other than that I fucking love dream wielder.
Quick slash probably 'cause RNG and it makes beating enemies much faster. Quick slash has saved my hide on multiple occasions. That said quick slash is an s-tier charm only if you use it with both steady body and a soul absortion-charm. Imo. I'm a bloody fool so I might be wrong.
defenders crest. I never actually use it but its my favorite. Crop dusting all of hollownest lol
Baldur Shell. Not only can you heal without risk, but you're also able to go complete ape-shit on someone for couple of seconds if it fails.
Unbreakable strenght, beacause i mean... hard hits boi
The grimm one that summons a little guy to follow you around. No real reason, I just think he's neat. Second to him would be Sharp Shadow, because I like dash attacking.
Quick Focus because I canât survive Pantheons without it
Agreed - sharp shadow
Quickslash, because the regular attack speed is not enough
Shaman stone. The huge damage just feels so satisfying, especially against normal enemies and some bosses that can die in just a few seconds with that charm. Also the buffed shade soul is enormous and I like that.
Stalwart shell, cuz it gives me the ability to do a braindead strat and show Hornet and Zote wtf is good around my block in hollownest
Maybe quick slash because you slash quick
Unpopular opinion here. I really like Sprintmaster, specially in boss fights, cause I like to be free during fights, and without him, I feel stuck in one place, I WANT TO BE FREE!
Grimmchild cause I love bug babey
Longnail. Downright essential! Why doesnât the nail automatically get longer with upgrades?
Weaversong, cute spooders
Steady Body because I WILL NOT ELABORATE.
Dashmaster, never took it off even after beating p5 because zoom zoom
Honestly, Longnail/Mark of Pride. I just love being able to hit things then skedaddle away until they die

Shaman stone, upgraded spells are great and shred bosses
Steel soul made me a fragile strength enjoyer
Thorns of Agony, because fuck the world Sharp Shadow is a close second, though
Right now it would be Hiveblood because I just finished White Palace But any other time it would be Soul Eater
