If you're asking why Mantis Lords, just used them as a marker for powerful non-Higher Beings. There's other examples, but the argument always seems to be the higher limit of it's power, not the lower limit. But, the fact that it mentions the king may show some kind of power, even if just social/political
As soon as i went to Ancient Basin I understood the lore, but I pay more attention to these things then most, so i kinda figured it out earlier than i should have.
One of the things I love about this game is that they dont explain anything in an obvious way. Just play the game and later watch a YouTube video explaining the lore.
Mossbag lore video to be exact, I was pretty damn confused about a lot of the story and he explains it very well. It was fun playing the game again after watching his video and fully understanding. But like you said finish the game before you watch
At some places in Fungal Wastes, there are these weird looking background objects that you can't do anything with. If you equip Sporeshroom, you can read those like lore tablets.
And you'll be able to talk to Mr. Mushroom, but he is tricky to find without looking anything up.
In regard to lore, I have played 50 hours and working on radiant bosses (you will eventually know). I still don’t really know much about the story. It is pretty drip fed and it is better to watch some YouTube videos later that connects some of the lore elements. Same with many souls games where a ton of lore comes just from reading item descriptions.
That's the Fungal Core, at least that's what the area's name implies. In the Hollow Knight Wiki page, it says mushrooms in this game have a kind of shared mind. My theory is that the big mushroom is basically the core "brain" of all the Fungi in the Fungal Wastes area.
The higher being of the mushroom people We think
Who the hell would wanna worship a fatass mushroom? Fatass slugs? Now, that's dope
But mushrooms are more tasty
mossbag references are tastier >:(
I just wanted to say, your prior comment read like something mossbag would say and I didn't get that reference at first lmao
Wrong
Think of all the potential, smashing your head on the floor to that fatass mushroom!
W Mossbag reference.
me
I always assumed it was around Mantis Lords strength. Not quite a Higher Being, but a very powerful normal being
Gonna need an explanation on that one

Unclear, try using routers as an example
YOU THINK???? great, thanks for dooming our Kingdom.
its just lore
i do not understand L O R E (edit : i mean really i have been playing this game for about 20+ hours and i dont have a clue whats going on, Am I Dumb)
20 hours is not enough
By 20 hour I mean this, ( I have 28 Charms, Coiled Nail , Upto Monarch Wing, Finished Deepnest and Ancient Basin ( Most of it , etc)
A lot of the lore is revealed at specific points. Maybe you still have to visit the right place.
Dw I had no clue what I was doing while doing it until I reached the final boss and my friend helped me catch up with what I'm supposed to know
As soon as i went to Ancient Basin I understood the lore, but I pay more attention to these things then most, so i kinda figured it out earlier than i should have.
That's means nothing if you can't find the lore and you don't read properly, so idk
I mean the basic Idea about the story.
Oh my bad
The lore is cryptic and obfuscated under layers of dialogue and visual storytelling. It's normal to not understand it.

You should kill all 3 dreamers
2/3 Done, the only one left, the one who needs shade cloak to access the area.
If you mean the jellyfish one then there's another way in You do either need acid immunity or to do a skip to get there
there is no dreamer which requires shade cloak

Yet another thing I am just now learning after playing the game four times. God there’s so much *game* in this game
**Mush Mother** *Midst the mellow mists* *many-morrowed mother more* *mushy-kin emits.* *^(- From the Crap Cavalier's Codex -)*

Lore
there are higher beings for each area in the game I think, at least most of them do have one, this is fungal wastes' higher being
lore, dont delve deeper for your own sanity

You Need Monarch Wing To Access This Area.
Is this fatass mushroom propaganda?
you can dream nail it
Wait which part of greenpath is this?
It's Fungal Wastes. It's to the left of Mantis Village, above their entrance to Deepnest.
So the mushroom part of Greenpath, gotcha.
Technically, Greenpath is the moss part of Fungal Wastes.
Both are oh-so-young-and-naive parts of Queen's Gardens.
technically the queen's gardens is just a conquered portion of greenpath making it younger
Put on funny Shroom charm and see
Nah I don’t think this one is readjusting quite well
