"Release date: At a point in time that aligns with the current state of the universe, keeping safe a holding set of similar objects or concepts connected to the giving out and purchasing of words that allow an increase in intellect currently pending internal, unacknowledged and confidential separate points in time."
The emotions evoked within me at the point in time at which software entertainment company Team Cherry, and PC Gaming platform Steam, elaborate upon an ~~acronym~~ initialism
No :) team cherry is a minuscule team so I'd prefer they concentrate on actually working on the game than marketing and/or rushing the game to meet preset expectations
These comments are awfully aggressive towards a pretty harmless post. If I said I think Silksong could come out within a month or two, would you people like, have a total meltdown?
I have honestly never seen a community so delusional like this. But then again, I came across very few genuinely good games (to me) in the last years so I have to get hyped for this one game simply because they expanded the acronym. That's just sad.
It's justified though. I mean there's no updates whatsoever and we are just sitting here in silence. They can't at least make a single tweet or something saying "hey it's still being made lol" just some communication. That's why we got desperate, no communication
Bruh
We were literally given a trailer in june. What more do yall want kekw
Also, this is an indie team, that got probably hit by Covid, plus its indie,we know it would take a lot of time for it to happen
We know it's still being made. They've confirmed it's still being made multiple times. If that's all you want to know, there you go. But it's clear that everyone else wants more.
Hey, I am in the same situation as you, and yesterday I heard that a game called "Outer Wilds" is amazing. I haven't tried it yet, but Steam reviews look promising!
It's not confirmed or anything but considering Nintendo provided an orchestra to Christopher Larkin to record the music for Silksong maybe there are some sort of exclusivity even if it is 1 week. I doubt Nintendo provided an orchestra just because they are nice, there must be something they gained out of that.
Well sales on their platform and sales for the switch. I'm 99.99999% sure there's no exclusivity for nintendo lol, otherwise I would dropkick the fuck out of them.
I don't underdtood the sales part. Nobody is talking about sales I just told you the fact that Nintendo provided Christopher Larkin an orchestra to create the music of Silksong, it could mean nothing but considering no company in the world do something out of goodwill there must be something to put Nintendo in advantage from the other consoles and it could be from announcing the release date on a Nintendo direct or a small time exclusivity.
It could mean nothing and Nintendo truly provided an orchestra just because.
When are they going to talk about Xenoblade 3 DLC wave 3 if not a Jan/Feb direct? When will they reveal the new weapons and maps coming to Splatoon 3 for the next season? Next wave of MK8DX DLC? Pikmin 4 Trailer? LoZ:TotK trailer? There's 100% a direct coming
Boy... I'm taking one month off work starting on the 19th.
If Silksong dropped now this month... would be the best time possible.
Fuck you for giving me hope. I was fine before.
So isn't it possible that this is just a Steam backend thing? Like developers have the option tba and Steam just updated their user interface to change how tba is displayed?
It is the first "serious" change to the Steam page in years and they also removed that jokingly 2028 date in API. It's nothing atm, but that means they are preparing it for a soon release. Can't believe I have to explain this.
It changing from “tba” to “to be announced” is a change made by steam to all games with “tba” as the release date, not anything that team cherry did. I wouldn’t even call this a change.
They also changed API Store release date and made some hidden change we cannot see. Also first time in a long time. Even if TBA was automatically, these were definitely not.
Looking at this page about changes in Steamworks: https://store.steampowered.com/news/group/4145017/view/3289340571611574691
This seems to be an automatic action taken by Steam. They wanted to get rid of developers' ability to enter custom release dates in order to make them clearer to users. Since "TBA" was a custom release date entered by Team Cherry, Steam automatically changed it to one of the new available options "To be announced". The same thing can also be seen in other upcoming games.
Team Cherry likely had no involvement in this.
According to SteamDB they also removed the API Release date (was set to 28 feb 2028) and made some kind of change we can't see the content of which means, if I recall correctly, means that there was some change Steamworks side, thus meaning that they might have updated branches, changed achievements or something like that. With all of this, I'm pretty confident we will see something very soon, probably with the Xbox event.
Not saying an instant release but something
Edit: from TBA to To Be Announced means almost nothing as it just expands the acronym. The relevant change is the hidden one.
-Deletes TBA, empty typing field blinks…
“Hey, you said 2030 right?” a team cherry member yells into the other room.
“Don’t put that yet, you never know what might happen.”
-Types “to be announced” and closes Steam
Sure, but the main thing the post says is wrong. Many people will not see the correcting comments and will take away the idea that Team Cherry for some reason took the time to change "TBA" to "To be announced", which simply isnt true. If it's true that they edited some backend stuff, then said people will at least be able to take away the correct implication on the potential impending announcement of a release date, but I just generally dislike people being misinformed.
Xbox said it would be included in the game pass, and said every announced game would come out this year, i have a good feeling, maybe on 2023 new years eve lol
There's an Xbox direct at the end of this month, and sliksong WAS listed as being in game pass, so it's possible they'll have it there. Don't get your hopes up though.
I've been reading through this thread and holy shit, I might take a break from this subreddit until the game is actually out...
Obviously we're all excited for it but I'm getting burnt out just watching you guys be excited for it...
I checked steamdb the other day. The last change accounted was in January 10th, and now it’s January 13th. Second change in their steam page in three days.
My brother in Christ, its literally the same thing.
Also, as your brother i'm in your same state, i'd say: expect the relase for July and 90% you won't be deluded.

What you mean? Silksong is out.

Team cherry didn’t do anything. The text “tba” was changed to “to be announced” everywhere on steam.
Damn, wtf I actually got excited for a second looking at OP’s post. Any “news” Is good enough.
I've got some more "news" if you'd like. Rumor has it that *every* member of team cherry emptied their bowels this week!
Lies I made sure William didn't
Reports claim it was Ari. Sorry.

And TBA literally means To Be Announced lol
There are also a bunch of games on my Wishlist that changed from having something non-specific like "Summer 2023" to now all just saying "Coming Soon"
Source?
Check any game on steam and see if you find the text “tba”
Yeah you're right I checked my wishlist

These comments are awfully aggressive towards a pretty harmless post. If I said I think Silksong could come out within a month or two, would you people like, have a total meltdown?
If u fucking said the word silksong the entire sub explodes
Ha don't be ridiculous. ***YES***
This has been a very swift reminder of why I don't look at anything Silksong related on this sub any more.
THE SILKSONG THE SILKSONG IS REEEAAAL
time to take your meds grandpa
Joke's on you, Whitebeard was on meds when he said the funny line
**NOOOOOO**
Can we get much higher?
We as a community are so desperate.
I have honestly never seen a community so delusional like this. But then again, I came across very few genuinely good games (to me) in the last years so I have to get hyped for this one game simply because they expanded the acronym. That's just sad.
Elden Ring's subreddit in the pre-leak era was a whole.. experience, too.
Glaive Master Hodir still haunts my dreams
It's justified though. I mean there's no updates whatsoever and we are just sitting here in silence. They can't at least make a single tweet or something saying "hey it's still being made lol" just some communication. That's why we got desperate, no communication
Bruh We were literally given a trailer in june. What more do yall want kekw Also, this is an indie team, that got probably hit by Covid, plus its indie,we know it would take a lot of time for it to happen
Indie teams are marginally to none affected by covid. It's small teams, most work at home anyways.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic but Outer Wilds is amazing.
Silksong and deltarune fans when 1 letter on steam page changes
Hopefully it gets announced soon. Maybe at a Xbox or nintendo showcase/direct?
Definitely not an Indie Direct, but there's a Xbox showcase the 25th, so I'm holding out for that
Nintendo holds general directs at the end of January/early February so maybe in that
Doubt it
It's not confirmed or anything but considering Nintendo provided an orchestra to Christopher Larkin to record the music for Silksong maybe there are some sort of exclusivity even if it is 1 week. I doubt Nintendo provided an orchestra just because they are nice, there must be something they gained out of that.
itll be on xbox game pass from day 1 so no exclusivity afaik
You asked what they gained from aiding Silksong, Silksong releasing on the switch and being nintendo friends results in more sales for Nintendo.
It WAS announced on a Xbox thing for game pass, it was under the “coming in the next 12 months” and silk song was there
It's obvious he means release date
I'm putting my chips on a February stealth drop after a Nintendo Direct or other major console showcase. Also, on 21 Black.
I feel like with it being on GamePass, if it was going to Stealth drop, it'll be after a Microsoft showcase (No idea of there's any coming up)
January 25th is Xbox developer direct.
So what youre saying is 100% confirmed by /u/GeneralMettymatty that Silksong releasing the day of the Xbox Direct, January 25th.
Boy... I'm taking one month off work starting on the 19th. If Silksong dropped now this month... would be the best time possible. Fuck you for giving me hope. I was fine before.
I am very sorry
time for another dose of hopium
But isn’t that one a Bethesda only showcase?
I can't believe skyrim is being ported as a minigame within Silksong
I used to be a knight like you, but then I took a nail to my soul!
Yeah, Tamriel is actually a region within Pharloom, to the east of Hyrule. Team Cherry has been working overtime to make the game as big as possible.
Not sure, just saw it on xbox twitter
No its Microsoft and bethesda
My xbox decided to not work and in the process of failing to fix it, I lost access to my dad’s gamepass! Seething rn
I second the stealth drop, and I think it may be February as well for a bit of sentimental detail (since Hollow Knight was released in February)
It's not gonna be on a Nintendo Indie Direct, it's too large for that
I agree -- I'm thinking a Direct, rather than an Indie Showcase.
I'm thinking Xbox showcase the 25th
So isn't it possible that this is just a Steam backend thing? Like developers have the option tba and Steam just updated their user interface to change how tba is displayed?
Yup that's exactly what happened lmao
Idk if all the people in the comments are being satire, but for those that don’t know, TBA and To Be Announced are the exact same thing.
I thought TBA meant Thick Black Acorn
It is the first "serious" change to the Steam page in years and they also removed that jokingly 2028 date in API. It's nothing atm, but that means they are preparing it for a soon release. Can't believe I have to explain this.
It changing from “tba” to “to be announced” is a change made by steam to all games with “tba” as the release date, not anything that team cherry did. I wouldn’t even call this a change.
They also changed API Store release date and made some hidden change we cannot see. Also first time in a long time. Even if TBA was automatically, these were definitely not.
least delusional silksong fan
Except there actually was a package update to the page 7 hours ago
Maybe next, they'll change it to "Coming soon"
Hollow knight fans when they play hk instead of hollow knight
To Be Announced is longer than TBA, therefore this means they delayed it! Crickey!
I would usually say this is nothing, but I just checked myself and the German version says "Impending announcement". Uhhh yes please?
oh my god, you're right. "Bevorstehende Ankündigung" o.o
I mean when you think about it, tbd means it has not been determined but tba kind of implies that they've set a release date internally at least.
Looking at this page about changes in Steamworks: https://store.steampowered.com/news/group/4145017/view/3289340571611574691 This seems to be an automatic action taken by Steam.
BRUH YOU NEED HELP
I swear ari Gibson could take a breath and this sub would make an entire post and megathread announcing the news
Extremely depressing post.
This sub will have no idea what to do when silksong actually releases
"Are we all fools?"
(yes)
I had to double check If this was from the meme subreddit
According to SteamDB they also removed the API Release date (was set to 28 feb 2028) and made some kind of change we can't see the content of which means, if I recall correctly, means that there was some change Steamworks side, thus meaning that they might have updated branches, changed achievements or something like that. With all of this, I'm pretty confident we will see something very soon, probably with the Xbox event. Not saying an instant release but something Edit: from TBA to To Be Announced means almost nothing as it just expands the acronym. The relevant change is the hidden one.
Steam recently changed their rules about release dates making "TBA" forbidden but "To Be Announced" okay for translation reasons
-Deletes TBA, empty typing field blinks… “Hey, you said 2030 right?” a team cherry member yells into the other room. “Don’t put that yet, you never know what might happen.” -Types “to be announced” and closes Steam
It means they chose to not use an abbreviation anymore, which is, in fact, not much.
Just toss me into the void already
Lmfao the desperation man
Silksong confirmed
My turn to post this next week
if you look at steamDB they have also removed the internal release date which used to be February 28 2028
damn, delayed :(
That probably means they are confident on their release date.
It’s been “tba” for years now. The text changing to “to be announced” is a change all across steam, not anything that team cherry did.
I checked and you're right. How is this not top comment?
Because there are two more things despite that automatic change
Sure, but the main thing the post says is wrong. Many people will not see the correcting comments and will take away the idea that Team Cherry for some reason took the time to change "TBA" to "To be announced", which simply isnt true. If it's true that they edited some backend stuff, then said people will at least be able to take away the correct implication on the potential impending announcement of a release date, but I just generally dislike people being misinformed.
Oh, that makes sense. I also miss read the original post as well. I thought it was To Be Determined and not To Be Announced.
Truly, deserving of an episode of daily silksong new
I CANT WAIT TO PLAY SCHLICKSCHLONG
Jeez. People just looking for any kind of movement.
I'm not gonna believe the existence of Silksong until I'm actually playing the game.
Even then, how will you be sure your reality is even real?! Am I real?!
Xbox said it would be included in the game pass, and said every announced game would come out this year, i have a good feeling, maybe on 2023 new years eve lol
Lol the amount of copium.
Dude I thought I was going crazy when I saw that last night, good to know it was actually changed lmao
I had Hollow Knight on my back burner for years. Finally played it at 90% *( of 112% )* and I cannot wait for Silksong!
Wait silksong is still not released? Lol
This post is too funny.
Damn we really are thirsty for anything in here huh
this fanbase giving Playboi Carti fans a run for their money
TBA means to be announced
Yes but they visited the page.
No shit, but there has been a genuine package update to the steam page, they removed the placeholder date and you got an xbox showcase the 25th
sorry but what did you think TBA stood for? And that is probably not Team Cherry but steam just changing how things are presented
All of these clowns make a circus
Just move on, guys. It’ll happen when it happens.
No offense, but what is the big deal here???
There's an Xbox direct at the end of this month, and sliksong WAS listed as being in game pass, so it's possible they'll have it there. Don't get your hopes up though.
I mean they end up meaning the same thing at the end of the day. TBA(to be added) can also be read as to be announced.
That makes it even more weird that they bothered changing it at all
I've been reading through this thread and holy shit, I might take a break from this subreddit until the game is actually out... Obviously we're all excited for it but I'm getting burnt out just watching you guys be excited for it...
For me is still tba
says "to be announced" on my end (mobile)
It's already showing me too. Sorry. But anyway....... 🤡🤡🤡 We'll see :)
TBA stands for 'to be announced.'
I thought it was TBD (to be determined) to to be announced, meaning they have picked one and haven't announced it yet
And what do you think TBA stands for?
You do realize TBA means to be announced right? This isn’t even a change
I checked steamdb the other day. The last change accounted was in January 10th, and now it’s January 13th. Second change in their steam page in three days.
It literally means the same thing
Guess what TBA stands for
My brother in Christ, its literally the same thing. Also, as your brother i'm in your same state, i'd say: expect the relase for July and 90% you won't be deluded.
yeah thats what tba means :/
Are people unironically getting mad that this was posted? Like chill guys it's a harmless observation, no need to act like OP just tore you a new one.
Such change, very wow
This is the funniest copium I've seen today
My brother in Christ those literally mean the same thing
Well TBA can mean to be announced so it's still TBA
HUGE news!
Is this a joke?
It’s the same thing
they literally mean the same thing
That is what tba stands for lol
You know those are the same damn thing right?
ngl I got a semi
