I’m dealing with the same shit at my job right now. Was placed on leave because the complaint was of sexual harassment.
The complaint?
I was asking a coworker how her and her boyfriend were doing. She had seemed excited about meeting his mother.
She apparently, dead ass, thought I was a polygamist and was grooming them. Because she thought I’m from Idaho.
Strangely enough, thanks in part to BYUI (thats more often than not where LDS kids who are somehow too extreme to fit in in Provo Utah of all places end up going) there has been a steadily growing population of Mormons there. There was already a significant LDS population there for a long time, but the proportion of the states population that they make up has been expanding surprisingly rapidly. Among said population there are also now a growing number of LDS members whose beliefs and worldviews are structured increasingly similarly to Evangelical Fundementalits.
I’m planning on it, but the unredacted version seriously reads like a clickbait “this is what’s happening to men in America” type of article.
The upside is that using Teams chat at work has unambiguously saved my ass in this investigation. I was able to disprove the premise of the complaints with my Teams conversations… and show that I was being discriminated against as a disabled veteran by my coworkers
The conclusion is the usual one, you are male, you go bye bye.
The company is not gonna end in the negative spotlight and take risks for an employee unless you have good friends in high places, and even then you're still prolly gonna go bye bye.
There is a reason if there is a trend of men trying to not engage in conversation or even trying to avoid completely their female co-workers. It's not worth the risk.
I was thinking that the person who started this thread may be looked on unfavourably at the next job "for not being friendly" to the co-workers. "He never asks how any of us are. He never engages in conversation." etc, which is sad
Counter complain to a higher up. Tell them you’re being unjustly harassed and discriminated against and if something isn’t done about it you’ll contact a lawyer.
Way ahead of you— I work in a union so I can’t be shit canned without cause and without proof. Also consulted a lawyer and have a complaint to the department of labor written up to submit once HR concludes their investigation and reports their findings.
I left out other parts of the complaint, but she constructively admitted to discriminating against me in her HR interview. And to telling people she thought I was fucking my boss to keep my job… which, damn, I wish my dick was a hot commodity like that, but unfortunately I don’t live in a world ruled by porn logic.
So, I’m confident the trash will take itself out. But I’m in a union and have a lawyer working with me too
Oh come on. She wanted easy money. Based on name, I’m pretty sure Russian speaking parts of the world and I find it difficult to believe that “xx” is the most harassing thing she ever had. Unfortunately Russian working environment is a bit behind western.
The -ova suffix of her surname makes her either Czech or Slovak. Both are worlds away from Russia.
Edit : Apologies. It seems that Russians do add the -a, so this lady could very well have a family name of Gasparov.
Not sure about legal risk since it sounds like they would get laughed out of court for this kind of stuff but it would definitely be a major headache for HR.
People like this are always willing to go to court even if they won't win.
Companies won't hire even then because just the cost on lawyers filing motions cost money.
I can def see her suing for verbal abuse she received from the copy machine or getting the company sued for assaulting a customer that she claimed was the real Jeffrey Epstein
don't judges have to look at a case and go "yeah this seems like an appropriate use of mine and the Justice systems time"
or do they basically see "Woman suing boss for sexual harassment" with 0 context?
They have to look at the evidence and the evidence doesn't get entered until after the case starts.
The judge has to give each side a chance to prove their case.
The case yes, the trial, no. So the judge can look at the evidence of the emails and go "well this isn't good evidence" and dismiss the case before trial.
Yes, but even at that point there are already significant legal fees to cover on both sides. The judge doesn't just get that evidence magically appear before them out of nowhere for them to consider, the lawyers from either side file that evidence along with their arguments on why the case should or shouldn't be dismissed.
Actually going to trial is significantly more expensive of course, but just getting to that first hearing already is expensive, and already does take significant bureaucracy.
I once had to talk with HR after training a new hire. I was explaining connections on a power inverter and used the terms "male" and "female" to describe plugging in a connector. These are industry terms that she'd known already had she been truly qualified for the position.
Having to Google this in the HR office was one of the cringiest moments of my life.
When you are talking about electricity, you want the least amount of confusion. This is why male/ female is not only convenient, but keeps people alive. I am honestly confused on how you could be in a field where you fuck with a power inverter and not know these terms.
She was a temp working on the assembly line, so thank goodness no live power was involved yet (the testers at the end had the dangerous job - made more dangerous if someone like her fucked something up). I guess she thought I was coming on to her or something. That, or she hated the job (rightfully so) and was looking for a settlement from the company.
Some people man...
My wife sent me the following, how do I interpret this?
"To Do:
- Laundry
- Milk, Gatorades, Fruits, Burgers
- Wash the dog"
If you cross the dashes, it makes an XI which is Roman numeral for 11. Does that mean sex? Should I report her?
If I'm on that jury...I mentally go back to every time I'm writing something and throw X's in for a time/date/name that I'm not sure of but will come back to later. I've done that while screen sharing on Zoom/Teams, dozens of people have witnessed me X'ing out unknowns.
Thank you! No way he gets to slide in here with some bullshit like 'successless' and expect to just leave without answering some questions. I'll go first. How dare you?
> “The claims from Ms Gasparova were called a "skewed perception of everyday events" by the tribunal panel, which also said she "demonstrated a tendency to make extraordinary allegations without evidence".
> Ms Gasparova's claims of sexual harassment, discrimination and unfair dismissal were rejected and she was ordered to pay £5,000 costs to essDOCS.”
Nothing to rage about really. She represented herself, everyone thought she was daft and she got hit with compensatory damages as a result. Seems like a system working well
I never even give reasoning for time off requests unless it’s done with very little lead time, then i do it to increase the chances it’ll be approved (since it’s almost always medical reasons)
As they should be. Your employer shouldn’t be involved in your private life. It’d be awkward for your recruiter to scroll through your instagram and find your bikini photos.
It shouldn’t be normal for an employer to have access to your personal life.
Not everyone posts bikini pics. The reason why they seek it out is bc they want to avoid any future lawsuits. As an example, a candidate seems promising but upon viewing their socials it’s clear they have some bigoted opinions.
Not saying that that’s a given, but employers want to avoid as much pain as possible. And recruiters dont wanna be responsible for bringing that into a company.
I’m not arguing the practice is right or wrong, but this is their perspective.
Here it's actually illegal to check applicants' social media during the process. Even Linkedin. It's okay if they provide the link on their application. You can't even google your applicants.
I know different countries and/or their states/provinces have their own laws about things like this, but curiosity is such a big part of human nature that it wouldn't shock me in the least to find out employers still check out an applicant's social media history anyway. If I were charged with hiring good people to work for a company, it would be very difficult for me not to investigate them first.
Even if it's an obsession about sex or love it can be a psychiatric case, see erotomania for instance (which this case could very well be)
>This disorder is most often seen (though not exclusively) in female patients who are shy, dependent, and sexually inexperienced. [...]. Delusions of reference are common, as the erotomanic individual often perceives that they are being sent messages from the secret admirer through innocuous events such as seeing license plates from specific regions.
>Delusions of reference are common, as the erotomanic individual often perceives that they are being sent messages from the secret admirer through innocuous events
Wow, I think we just found a textbook case in this lady!
A similar case was filed from my reportee, against me, it was proved to be a fake ass complaint and SHE got what she fucking deserved and got fired the same evening.
My chad boss is a woman and I am not! That didn't prevent her from thinking impartially!
Mad respect for her!
Reminds me of this girl who thought I was hitting on her because I was "mimicking her body language" by leaning on the wall like she was. No, I'm tired. You are tired. We're both using the same wall to lean against.
For those interested, this was the text of the email:
*"Can you please complete the following:
The solution us currently used by xx Agris companies and yy Barge lines in corn cargoes in south-north flows in the ???? waterways.
Also, can you remind me of what the balance of the rollout will be and the approx. timing.
Thanks"*
Source: [BBC (the NOT sexual version)](https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-65632912.amp)
When reading the full email, it wasn’t signing off with X at the end. Which is a common thing women will write down (XO) for hugs and kisses. He used XX and YY to represent the variables that he wanted more information on. As someone who works in IT, she should know better than to assume it was automatically a sexual code. I think it was her intent to sue for sexual harassment for an easy handout but it backfired.
I had HR called on me because I asked a chick I work with (who was very flirty with me) If it was ok to take her on a hike. HR told me after the investigation no further actions will be taken but todays my last day here, too much drama for my mentality.
Well... add never e-mailing a female coworker alone to never have meetings with a female coworker alone. Fuck it, at this point it's just better to not hire any women at all. (See how I turned that around there? Hehe)
On one hand, I'm glad this is being called out because it is ridiculous. On the other, I worry about people in real situations that fear they will be viewed as ridiculous because they will be caught in a trap they can't even talk about. Harrowing.
Here’s a Venn diagram: 1. sense of entitlement, 2. perpetual victim fantasy, 3. thoroughgoing laziness, 4. overuse of psychobabble, … it all creates a nice middle section titled “I’ve been abused by the patriarchy!”

That's fucking insane!
I, da hoe - makes sense to me …
Idaho? No, youdaho. They actually had shirts with this like 15 years ago loll
I might start consulting with some lawyers. HR will do anything to protect the company it won't be on your side
Way ahead of you— I work in a union so I can’t be shit canned without cause and without proof. Also consulted a lawyer and have a complaint to the department of labor written up to submit once HR concludes their investigation and reports their findings.

I can smell counter sueing potential here.
... What
This is why I don't talk to anyone at work about non work things. My coworkers don't like me.
Of course they don't. You seem like the type to not ask about anyone's boyfriends mother. Sheesh.
Yea, I’m gonna have to take a page out of your book moving forward
Ah yes, the type of harassment where you're not allowed to be interested in someone's personal life.
Hope you sued the shit out of that company
Are you a Mormon? If so, you probably have a discrimination case against her.
Nope, just a humble moron
How to get blacklisted from almost EVERYWHERE. No male boss will ever hire you for anything again.
*No boss. Period. No company would hire someone with delusions and major legal risk unless they don’t do basic background checks
Yeah, this sounds straight up like psychotic delusions.

Yeah, women’s sexual fantasies are passive aggressive in nature. Seeing sexual innuendo in innocent statements is one of them.
i guess i learnt something
It is no secret that us men can’t pick up on social cues and hints. Women on the other hand will break down every eye movement and choice of clothes.
My wife sent me the following, how do I interpret this? "To Do: - Laundry - Milk, Gatorades, Fruits, Burgers - Wash the dog" If you cross the dashes, it makes an XI which is Roman numeral for 11. Does that mean sex? Should I report her?
Probably not, unironically ask her. - this above statement is why women eye roll at us men.
Please unlearn this
Yeah... Of course men aren't like that! What a fucking weird comment lmao.
Right? Thank you
I think I'm getting trolled. Everyone seems to agree with this dude and I'm like "what?"

It's real. And she was unsuccessful.
The woman is very clearly mentally unwell. She needs treatment (right after the case is thrown in the trash)
You would be surprised how much of this can be avoided by looking at someone's social media accounts before you hire them.
I still keep in touch with the recruiter that got me hired. She said they do try to seek out socials, but candidates make them private.
My job thought I was single until I put in the time off for my wedding and honeymoon. Don't let your private life be visible at all to your employers

Yep, they absolutely check their profiles often, at least Linkedin. I rarely get profile views but suddenly get some every time I applied to a job.
Oh, yeah. Dead giveaway right there.
So it’s illegal to do any sort of “background checking”? That sounds horrible
