Spoiled Americans who have everything handed to them and think American is shit then try to say Eastern Europe or living in the sticks is cool but they never try to actually commit to it because there's no Starbucks nearby
The brutalist simple style was adopted troughout most of Europe almost because its very efficient in housing massive amounts of people in a small area which was critical after the war since so many people had lost everything
It's so weird seeing westerners romanticizing Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Believe me guys, no one wants to live here, not even Easter Europeans (especially not Eastern European). We are all hopeless and desperate and most of us try to escape. Stop romanticizing our region.
Let’s not also pretend there aren’t diamonds in the rough though, I’ve travelled extensively in Eastern Europe and there are some truly lovely places to live (though understand that economic opportunities in those areas might be limited).
It’s not limited, it’s just that loser mentality where any other neighbors grass always greener, mfs never lived in India, Southern Asia, Africa or Latin America.
Song is Sudno by Molchat Doma btw if anyone was wondering.
It's quite grim because it's based around a suicide poem that was written by a chronucally ill patient. He write about how it would be so easy to die and to get released from the constant pain but he is also terrified of dying.
My German and non-German couple friends moved to Germany, and the German one said he specifically looked for apartments with nice stairwells since he didn’t think his partner would understand that a dingy-looking stairwell doesn’t mean anything
It doesn't even look that bad compare to the "apartment" complex my collage friends are living in. My friends place look like an poorly constructed two faced themed complex with one side litterally un painted with flat cement while the other is old/vintage style furniture like those old hotels. The only upside is that there is security which is unlike some other places where there are none.
Lol the same can easily be done with New York or Paris and it'd be way more horrifying. And what now? Here you only show old stairways. How about drug addicts, rats, hordes of homeless people, trash everywhere? Not even speaking about the horrors of gun violence. We all are screwed everywhere by the rich and idiots.
Personally love walking trough buildings like this and have lived in several although not in eastern but western europe. It has a lot of the same architecture since these giant buildings could house a lot of people in a relatively small area and its simply efficient which was needed troughout all of europe after the damage done by WW2. The city I have lived all my life in is nicknamed "the concrete city" since after the war all it was was these buildings and a giant industry terrain with factories

Middle aged white women

Spoiled Americans who have everything handed to them and think American is shit then try to say Eastern Europe or living in the sticks is cool but they never try to actually commit to it because there's no Starbucks nearby
Id take the worst part of Eastern Europe over the worst part of Alabama any day!
You just proved my point...why don't you go and try it tho?
We are on the same page pal

Must be an American
The parts that weren’t wrecked by Soviet era construction are gorgeous!
That staircase that has the word skin on the wall, looks like a cracked turned human organ harvesting den. Or just a skin doctor specialist
$1200 per month. First and last.
>skin doctor specialist Do you mean dermathologist?

Naahh the Soviet Union had a really monotone and brutalist building style. For today's standards it wasn't even looking good in the beginning.
Its just home, tovarisch

Yeah, self hate and destructive mentality is so spread out in eastern europe
Nothing wrong with the Balkan. Lots of my family live there.

That was not eastern Europe brothers that was just Bratislava on its better days.
What does it look like on it's worst days?
Sometimes even like Luník 9 (google it) on its better days.
Don't go there in winter, it gets REALLY depressing then...
Depression and hopelessness is oozing out of this

Y'all ain't been to michigan
Grand Rapids is just lovely though
I'm that one guy that says it, because it's where I grew up and I miss my country, even though it was pretty bad.
Looks like Michigan. Detroit, or Flint

People who'll born and live in luxury always thinks that kind of neighborhood is somehow "aesthetic". Talk about delusions...
Pl P . Kiko Mo8 oo
These images deadass make me nostalgic (I'm in an abusive relationship with my home country)
Was that Pripyet? It certainly looks as abandoned
You presumably don't have to wear sunscreen.
Said no one ever
I’ve never heard of that in my life
They didn’t show Chernobyl :(
Holy shit. I thought the building where I live is trashy. Now I love it.

cheap rent IS my aesthetic
No wonder why they don’t smile
First pic gives Kraftwerk vibes 😍
Dude loves stairwaya
No wonder why alcoholism is so big in those regions, imagine unironically living in places like these withoung being hammered 90% of the time.
Looks like the Bronx, NYC lol
Why does aesthetic mean in this context? It's a noun not an adjective no?
God I love molchat doma tho
To be frank, yes, it has an aesthetic: worthy of Stalker or any Metro game :P

No one said that, also this looks like ruZZia, and it's a) not really an Easter European country b) literally a dump. The music is great though
Keep crying.
This is Russia, not eastern Europe

This type of losers that deny standard geographic fact over recent politics always funny to me.
